Sorry, but this may be the worst piece of fried fish I've had, sadly - and I wasn't looking for anything fancy. I don't mind oil and salt, but this was an incredibly oily and overly dark batter. The flesh was the real issue, though. Flavourless, and with a watery, gelatinous texture. It all fell apart immediately. I ended up throwing two thirds in the bin, which I've never done even for a decidedly average bit of fish. Just awful. The chicken dim sims were so oily they were falling apart, and the filling was really dense and unappealing. One and a half ended up in the bin, too. The spring roll was fine, because it's almost impossible to stuff up a pre-made Mission product. That ended up being the main course. I don't normally leave bad reviews because it's tough running a business, but really, this was that bad a meal. It's tough to find good fish and chips around this area, but even if you're craving them, steer clear of this joint. There's one sort of nearby in Alexandria that does it all to a decent level and is worth the extra walk.

First of all, The owner here is so nice - always has a smile on ☺️ and says Thank you! Second, the fish portion is great. Juicy and well flavour, so you can tell it’s quite fresh Portion and taste for salad is good too (only $16 for grilled barramundi and salad combo)! Also, they have a variety of burgers to choose from - the beef burger tastes very balance and value for price only $7.50!! I appreciated the fact that my side order of calamari and chips were cooked well (not burned and dry like some other places). Definitely will visit again soon - a local gem for the inner city region. P.s: Visit again and dine in with fish and chips on plates with cutleries was nice after such a long time since Covid. They take card payments with no surcharges is a big plus for this local business. Highly recommended!

Really tried to like this place as it is close to the station and I thought it would be convenient, convenient it is not. The only thing I liked about the place is the fried fish but that's not enough to recommend nor return. I understand being a small business owner is not easy but it seems he does not really care about anything from the customer service to the time it takes to cook the food (was not busy), order fish and chips, took 25 mins, as I went up to ask him if I could cancel the order because I needed to go back to work, he just turned around, put down his mail and emptied the hanging basket that was sitting there for 10 mins into the paper. Ambience, service and attitude of this place can be summed up in one word 'depressing'. Has potential but currently no heart in it.

It's OK. Kind of what you expect from a fish and chips shop. The price is not bad, especially for Erskineville. The owner didn't seem to have the best customer service skills...I told him what I wanted, and he let out a bit of a grunt and immediately turned around - I wasn't sure if it had actually registered with him (to be fair he was quite busy with the other orders)! Other than that, he was pleasant enough when my order was ready. The fish and chips were about average (not *bad* - just average). They could have done with a bit more salt.

We moved to Erskinville 3 weeks ago and being a Brit, I’m always keen to find a great fish and chips shop. We tried Erskinville fish and chips last week and I am soooo happy I am only a 1 minute walk from this place!!! Sooooooo good!!!!light batter, great chips AND mushy peas and curry sauce. The nicest fish and chips I’ve had for a really long time. We had a slight wait but who cares when the food is as tasty as this. We will be back … many times!!!

If you like me are from the UK… Wales me… and you miss the old style fish and chip shop then this is your place… even offer chips with curry… how UK is that… the fish and chips are first rate and remind me of home…even got mushy peas …single owner operator who inherited the shop from Mum and Dad and the shop has been around for 30 odd years… glad I found this little taste of UK in Erko ❤️❤️

I have been a regular of this place for over 15 years now and it’s still my favourite fish and chip shop in Sydney. The gentleman who runs it is so lovely, the chips are thick and hearty and come wrapped in paper. Their homemade tartare sauce is great too. Their prices are always consistent for a decent serving of food. Highly recommend to everyone.

Decent food at a reasonable price, if you happen to find it open when you come past. The main problem with the shop is that it's not open when you'd expect a fish & chips shop to be open, and it tends to close early. It's got a pretty old feel to it and fairly plain plastic furniture inside under fluorescent lighting, so you'll probably want to get your food and take it home.

Service was slow and unapologetic, I'd say apathetic also. No salt on chips, stale bun for the fish burger and we were over charged but couldn't be bothered going back to let the guy who served us know as we were so disappointed. Have been coming here for years, won't ever be coming back again.

If you’re nostalgic for a beef burger with the lot? Then this is the place! Thick cut chips and pineapple fritters! Was genuinely surprised by the prices too. 10/10 will be back again

Disgusting $7.35 for a medium chips, the serve is just a bit bigger then my hand. Never again will I go here. Guy running the shop is slow the shop stinks like dirty oil. So disappointed id recommend never going here again, instead go to Alexandria seafoods he is 100% better size and quality wise. …

With the price in mind, this by far one of the best fish and chips serves in the area. Generous portions. Real fish (not the crumble thing you can find in Redfern for example). Delicious wedges. Well cooked calamari rings. I don't understand people complaining. I mean, what would you expect for $10?

I scarfed my food down too quick to snap a photo but this was so delicious and really hit the spot! Lovely guy working here and the prices are really fair. Extensive menu too, I’m coming back to try the dim sim!

Food is cheap, service was decent and fairly fast (With only one guy cooking and serving) Burgers were pretty good, except the jalapeno was non-existant from the Meat lovers burger. Chips were nice and tasty, but the fish didnt seem that fresh (prob better grilled than battered)...

Great fish, battery is light and fresh but nice and crispy and not soggy or oily, chips are very good too. The owner puts a lot of effort in and you can tell he takes a lot of pride in what he does by the way he tests his food and his customers. The prices are very reasonable too!

Do yourself a favour and just grab something else nearby. Fish was average at best and chips were painfully horrendous. It's the cheapest place around but it's just not worth it.

Only just discovered this great little place and my steak sanga was exactly what I needed after a big night. To those who have left a bad review because you had to wait or the oil wasn't up to there standard piss off back to McDonald's.

Quite unhappy with the service. After asking for extra chicken salt and getting none it felt a bit upsetting. $13.50 for a small amount of chips and very small gravy would’ve been okay had the quality of the food not let us down.

This is the worst place I’ve ever eaten. The owner is extremely passive aggressive. The food was unbelievable bad. Inedible. I wouldn’t ever come back here if my life depended on it. And I’m not a fussy person.

Can't fault this place at all considering the prices of items on the menu. Tried both the beer-battered and grilled fish and they were well-cooked and came in generous portions. Great chips as well!

This place is a gem. Been here a few times, but today I had the grilled barramundi fillet. Only $7! Great value on all menu items. Fish was delish! The owner is a pleasant person as well

Good local fish and chip shop. Not long moved from Newtown to Erko and I love my fish and chips. Been back and like the selection for those lunches or nights you want to not cook.

Came across this place a couple weeks back and have become regulars since. Great quality fresh fish with the crispiest most delicious batter. Highly recommend.

British style. Owner uses bream which is soft and fluffy; great for batter fish. He's a very pleasant and chill dude too.
