If you wait on platform one in the morning prepare to MELT. The sun shines directly across onto it and it gets so hot and there is no escape. If you’re going to work in a suit or something you will be totally gross so don’t even think of wearing it here. There is no lift and it has stair access only. There is a station worker usually around but I’m not sure if they help with prams etc. There is a small store within the station entry for certain drinks / newspapers etc. This station desperately needs an upgrade so the sun doesn’t shine directly on platform one in the morning and desperately needs an entrance from the opposite side with stairs over the platforms or a tunnel at the other end. People constantly have to walk all the way up the hill to get to a platform they could access from 5 minutes earlier if the fence was open to the platform.
Last time I was at Erskineville station during February 2023 I read that it's finally receiving an upgrade. With the Bankstown line being converted to the new Metro, you will no longer get a direct route to this line as you'll need to interchange at Sydenham from 2024 moving forward. I grew up in Erskineville during the late 60s and early 70s as I remember catching a train to Hurstville. When the Eastern Suburbs line opened on 23 June 1979, the trains going to the Illawarra line never stopped at Erskinville and St. Peters. Now with the Metro line happening in Bankstown, the trains to Rockdale, Kogarah, Hurstville, Sutherland and Cronulla will stop at Erskineville and St Peters stations once again.
Trains do not come frequently to this station. You need to walk to the next station, MacDonaldtown If you don’t want to Wait ages for the next train. There’s not disabled access so if you are injured, the train conductors will not wait for you so you need to wait another 15-20mins to this station. There are also no toilets here. People are not social distancing when going up the staircase exits. There are very few places to sit, and most of the seating is exposed so when it is scorching hot and sunny, raining or hailing, the seating is unusable anyway.

Erskineville Station is finally getting an upgrade! A traditional Sydney railway station with lots of lovely character, but short on accessibility. Looks like this will be rectified with the works that are underway.
No lift access, which reduces the incentive to use public transport. This has substantially increased congestion especially during population growth.
Close to the main street in Erskineville, the station also has a small convenient store at the entrance and toilet facilities (sometimes closed)
Why don’t they utilise platforms 3 and 4 more? A wonderful station of the splendour of yesteryear.
Nice old station built in 1882...So don't expect many modern features. Also limited shelter.
A very handy station when City Rail have "Trackwork" on and there are no trains at Newtown.
Average station. The lack of lifts for strollers and wheelchairs is an ongoing frustration
It is nice place. But problem is that there is no wheelchairs access.
Average train station. Well located next to Erskineville village.
Old-school station. Has character. But no disabled access
Delays due to signals and this storm
Needs an upgrade now not later...
Erko always has a great vibe!
Like St Peters, needs lifts.
It's a railway station...
