Tried to get gas but every pump was pay by debit or credit card. Had to move 4 times then wait until a pump for cash only opened up after cashier told me over the intercom that they were only prepaid pumps. Then I had to come in and stand in line to pay my cash before they turned the pump on. I probably would have filled up but they asked how much I was putting in. I told them when it's full but I had to give them an amount so I said 30 bucks enough to get me out of there go where I had to go and fill up at my regular station. Generally buy smokes or drinks or snacks or lottery but not there. Service sucks. My uncle was the long time proprietor of the Esso station past McMaster university before he retired and Esso moved the station closer right in front of the University, he would be rolling in his grave to see this type of service. That's not the way I grew up refuelling at Esso.

Terrible service. It was -15 degrees and I had little kids in the car. The cashier wouldn't allow anyone to pay at the pump for no apparent reason. I was told that I had to go inside and prepay and then pump my gas and then go back inside and pay. Yeah with a car full of kids and -15 that doesn't work. I could not reason with the cashier and was not allowed to pay at the pump so I left. There are many other gas stations around and they aren't rude and impossible to deal with like the guy at this place. I went not far away to another gas station where I had no problem at all and even saved some money.

3 stars for average, plus and minus some stuff. Station pricing seems slightly cheaper than most (the plus). Pretty big in size with space for waiting for a pump. Good size convenient store. The annoying thing is, it seems that every pump is prepay. Most ESSOs have the front visible ones "pump than pay" and back ones prepay. This one seems to be all prepay. Card reader did not read my ESSO Extra points card so could not pay at pump.

i get breakfast everyday m-f and today i buy hot choclate, cookie and nachos and the nachos is 1.69 i think without cheese and basket and 3.20 something with but they have no cheese but charge me the $3.20 so i just had a basket of plain nacho chips thats like $3 on a 7$ purchase and i had to through them out beacuse the cheese the only reason you get them.. waste my money... like who can afford that esp now a days. -10/10

BE AWARE! The Pay at the Pump Diesel is rather sketchy. I've used this location a couple of times. I don't do anything wrong inserting my ATM card or Credit Card, and it always says on the first go that my transaction was declined even though clearly I have the funds in said accounts. On the second attempt, magically it works. So I don't understand why this is happening, as it isn't a user based problem.

Employee working name VANSH is not allowing to using washroom. I am always using esso gas station for gas and i came from all the way from Scarborough. He said washroom is close because he don't wanted to give. Its against circle k policy that its open 24 and i bought stuff from there and denied to using washroom.hope you guys trained your employee well and let them read all the policies.

Convenient place to gas up & get coffee before getting on the highway. Gas prices usually decent, coffee selection is good for both regular and decaf, need a key for the bathroom, staff is friendly most of the time, good selection of snacks, cold drinks. Lots of gas pumps to choose from, ample food parking if just stopping at the store.

Aging pumps and card readers make getting gas a chore and the lazy policy of paying before you pump midday in-store makes this even worse. Wondering why your Variety Store and Tim Hortons sales are low? Rude Staffing an idiot policies. The gas was mid priced there are cheaper and friendly or stations in the city. Do not use.

update: staff are great, now, and friendly to the less fortunate of us. They're always cleaning up the joint. Still not impressed by closed washrooms after 10pm, but as I have gotten to know the area I can understand the reasoning behind it. Self serve Tim's but there are 3 full serve Tim's locations nearby...

The staff were experiencing technical issues at their gas pumps while I was there. They were very good with the customers. Surprisingly, their good humor was successful, and no one had a meltdown while waiting. We were only there for a bathroom break, but my kid got some cheesies out of the delay . …

One of my most local gas stations. Usually pretty reasonably priced for gas and the staff are friendly. Usually have a good snack and coffee selection as well for when the moment hits and you need that little power boost on a long drive. Also in a very convenient position being so close to Fortinos etc.

Used to be the best place in the neighbourhood to get gas, but now they put a $150 hold on your credit card no matter how much gas you buy. Takes over a week before it's removed, even after the charge for the actual amount is processed. I was a customer here for years, no more.

Yes to price compete with the other stations about a block away in differing directions. Usually higher in price but not always but it's one of two open all the time. Lots of space at the pumps and reasonable shop selection. Easy access to the highway almost behind the station.

Beware CIGARETTES ARE FAKE! I only buy Belmont and trust me I know how they are suppose to taste...and these are not it! Anywhere else I buy a small pack for $13.15 and this places sells them for $14.25! Not worth it. Save yourself the time and money and get them elsewhere.

This busy service ststion is open early in the morning weekdsys for those like me, who forget, or are just too lazy to fill up before going to bed. They, also, have a very unique, help yourself or self serve Tim Hortons at the counter. Great staff, clean washrooms...

Although the facility is in relatively good shape the organization and people skills of the ignorant worker (possibly owner) is worth never returning. I will go out of my way to the Shell down the road.

Close to the Brant Street exit from the hwy, this is a close quick stop for those looking to fuel up. Central to restuarants and many stores, this imakes for a clean, easy, pit stop.

Never go there again! I like to pump my gas to full then pay. NOT play guess how much I need to prepay with attendant then go back outside to pump my gas! Sad Esso! Really sad!

As far as gas stations are concerned, this one is a well oiled machine. (Ugh, that turned into a lame pun. Sorry.) Self serve Timmies to boot! No lineups for coffee.

Be aware of how much store clerk ask you to pay for your items. They may tell you the total which is higher than you need to pay for what you actually bought.

This Esso always seems to have one of the lowest gas prices in the area, and the fact that I can use my phone to perform transactions just makes it better

Average Esso. They take Amex so that's a bonus. Close to the highway and downtown Hamilton. Not enough diesel pumps. Friendly staff. Bathrooms are OK.

GREAT prices, compared to the other Esso locations in the city. Often out of petrol... which sometimes means higher grade gas for the cheaper price!

Pumps never read cards properly, the pumps are slow and staff are NEVER approachable or happy. Would NOT recommend unless you’re desperate for gas.

The gas prices here are always higher than everywhere else. Friendly service, bad gas prices. The gas is always cheaper further west down the road.

Using the pay at pump app is great. The issue I have is Esso put $150 hold for any size of vehicle and they are slow to release the credit hold.

My go-to gas station when I was at McMaster. It is usually the lowest priced gas station within the surrounding area. It is PRE-PAY ONLY.

Slow and terribly maintained pumps. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Clearly an owner focussed on profit over service.

Pay at the pump is often broken. Pumps are out of service. When they do work, they pump very slowly. Poorly maintained location.

I often stop there to pick up coffee and traveling snacks and to refuel my car rental. Nice clean store and well stocked.
