We didn’t have as good of an experience as we were given two upgrades to a car that was smaller than what we originally booked. We got a Skoda which we ended up taking because we had no other choice, and thirty minutes after driving, we realised there were a heap of ants climbing all over the interior of the car, and they smelt really bad when we killed them. The car also had low tyre pressure as well which was very worrying. We couldn’t drive around like this and called back Melbourne office, to which a lady picked up the phone and gave us the worst customer service possible. She basically insinuated that we were lying by saying that there was no way that this could happen as the cleaner lady does a good job cleaning the interior and exterior of the car. She also said we must’ve parked somewhere with heaps of ants, but only leaving Melbourne 30 minutes after taking the car, this was absolutely impossible. We asked for a replacement car as we could not drive around with an ant infestation and she said she could not do that and that we were to wait 3 days for a new car to free up. This was very inconvenient as we had to return the hire car after the weekend which meant she wanted us to drive around with ants in the car! This does not make sense, as their whole business is based off the needs of the customer, and not the convenience of the business. We had no choice but to hang up and call head office, who were able to assist us in getting a replacement car from that exact same office. Which meant the first lady was not being honest with us. We were able to get a car that was heaps cleaner and although it wasn’t what we wanted, it was WAY better than having ants.

I recently rented a car from Europcar Melbourne City during my trip to Australia and overall, it was a good experience. For example, the staff did not provide clear information about the rental terms and conditions, which resulted in some confusion and frustration. In addition, I found the rental prices to be quite high compared to other rental companies in the area. While I understand that prices can vary depending on the season and location, I was disappointed to find that Europcar Melbourne City was more expensive than other rental companies with similar vehicles. That being said, the staff were responsive to my concerns and were able to resolve any issues I had quickly and efficiently. I appreciated their efforts to make sure I was satisfied with my rental experience. Overall, I would give Europcar Melbourne City a 3.5-star rating for their friendly customer service, well-maintained vehicles, and efficient handling of any issues that arose. However, the lack of clear information about rental terms and high prices were points of concern for me.

Very bad service! When arriving at 1-45 (good on time before 4 o’clock) Europcar was closed! No communication, nothing. When contacting they told us it was our problem. We had to drive all the way to the airport for dropoff. They didn’t want to pay for the extra transport from the airport to the city center so we declined that “offer”. Then I said I would return the car a day later and they told me they would charge for it. They had no option to drop the keys and leave the car. After a long an not so fine call I decided to take the car to the hotel and drop it off the next day. We had to pay 35$ for the parking. When returning the car the next day we asked for paying us the 35$ back. The manager was not there, but the made a copy of our invoice. The manager would call me back the next Monday. He didn’t call! I tried to call multiple times, left messages and nobody called me back. Very bad service! No service at all. So be aware if you need to go to Melbourne.

Was forced to use this place for an insurance claim and it has been by far the worst experience with a car rental company in my life. They actually stole over $3600 from my card without any authorisation and then after I complained did not even bother to follow up and contact me. Luckily I saw the charges and was onto it but I have still not received my money or an apology or any proof that the money will be returned. I am absolutely horrified at the behaviour of this company and will never deal with them again. And if you’re thinking of renting a car from them, and giving them your card details, don’t! They take thousands of dollars of your money without asking and by reading other reviews (after the fact) this is not an isolated incident.

Just bad service. Booked online for a prestige car successfully and on the day of pick up was rejected because I cannot use a debit card to rent a prestige car. I was then told if I booked the car physically with the staff on site then they will allow a debit card. I was given no choice but to downgrade to a regular car. This whole process took me an hour and the staff just said it is their company policy and nothing they can do to help. After the day, I tried returning the car exactly at 17.00 as stated but the whole office is closed and no deposit box is available. Absolutely disappointed and will not rent from this company.

Such a bad car rental company. I would give it 0 star but Google doesn’t allow me to do that. Worst ever experience, extremely slow process even though I had already booked it online in advance. It took me forever to finally get my car. Also, it looks like this place gets lots of MG cars. Be careful if you don’t enjoy driving an MG car. Hope you will disagree with my review. The lady was very rude when we went in to collect the car we had booked. The rules clearly said we have to be Australian residents and not citizens to rent a car. The lady quoted “we should not rely on Europcar for services”. If these are the kinds of people working in such places then it’s just better they close the store.

Had a great experience for our 8 day rental for our family of 4. They even stored our bags until we were ready to get the car later that day. Land Rover Discovery had 17,000k and it was exactly what we needed for our Great Ocean Road trip ... only complaint is that the steering wheel was on the wrong side of the vehicle :)

I had an unpleasant encounter with the front desk staff, especially the ladies with black hair, they displayed rudeness and unfairness. While waiting in the lobby, they made faces and exhibited poor customer service skills, delivering unnecessary attitude. If given an option I wouldn't even give one star.

Easy booking and pick up. Booked the car for one day and we were told we could return the car at 6.30pm. At 4.00pm we rang to confirm and were told they closed at 5pm. Asked where to go for the closest petrol station and we were given no help at all. Will never use Melbourne Franklin Street Branch again.

Arrived at Melbourne airport and in 10 minutes we were directed to our car. We had organised and paid for everything beforehand so no waiting. Dropped the car off at franklin Street. Again no problems. Very happy with service. I would recommend organising everything before you go. Makes it so much easier

They kept talking and talking to a lady that seriously had nothing else to do, and was telling him her life story. It would of been fine if there was more than 1 person serving, but there wasn't. Even worse, all we needed to do was drop the keys back - yet we were there for 24 mins waiting!

I had to wait for more than two hours in a freezing shop because they kept the air conditioning at its lowest setting while retrieving my car. The management was rude to the trainee, and they didn't take responsibility for the process. It was the worst customer service experience.

Place with clean and great service. If you want to go to lot of place with mini cards to tell you where to go, such as LUNA PARK puffing Billy and Legoland discovery centre or the old Melbourne gaol. Good atmosphere. Brought X3 BMW. Prepare your passport and driver license.

Apparently you have to be an “Australian Citizen” to rent a car here. They dont consider Proof of age card and require original passport. Rude staff, one of the staff members even mentioned dont rely on Europcar, Go to Sixt or Hertz.

I may be just lucky, got a brand new cupra. Staff was nice and gave me a run down about the car. The only issue was the wait time. Took 45 min in the line waiting to pick up the car, 5 counters only 2 staffs serving the queue.
