We were looking for storage space and went ExtraSpace Storage facility located at 1807 W. Devon Ave., in Chicago, IL, 60660. The Manager, Ms. Toya B. was extremely helpful and professional. She explained everything we needed to know about the facility. She was very patient and articulate, and addressed the additional questions that we had. She was very transparent and friendly. She took us on a prompt walkthrough of the facility which was so clean that this facility looked almost sterile. Even though she has been there over a year or so, the place looks brand new. Of course, we signed on the dotted line, right away. After making sure that we were comfortable with how to navigate the locks, codes, elevators, and storage space we left. Everywhere, you hear so much about negative experiences these days, that We just wanted the Corporate Management to recognize her for her exceptional Customer Service skills. This positively affects and reflects Your Corporate image. Ms. Toya B. should be commended and we think that she should be acknowledged for her skill set and Your company should either promote her or compensate her for going the Extra Mile to help Your customers. She should be an example to other managers in your corporation. You should hire more people like her. Moving is stressfull enough and managers like her help to ease that stress. Your company is blessed to have someone like her; she is a real gem. To Ms. Toya B. we say; "Thanks for making our experience pleasant and stress-free." To ExtraSpace Storage, we say "Great Job!!!

I got a unit at this place because it was close by. The building is clean and the storage facility is top-notch, but the company itself is HORRIBLE! If you get a storage unit there be prepared to deal with a bunch of ignorant employees that will try to convince you that you have to get insurance on your stored goods. YOU ABSOLUTELY DO NOT HAVE TO!!!!! THEY EVEN HAVE ACLAUSE IN THE STORAGE CONTRACT THAT SAYS THEY OWE YOU NOTHING IF YOU DON'T GET INSURANCE. HOWEVER, THIS MUST BE SOME WAY THE COMPANY MAKES EXTRA MONEY. The Facility I am using, is on Devon Ave in Chicago. The place is nothing but concrete and steel. All of the steel has intumescent foam around it, the floors are 6" thick reinforced concrete with a corrugated steel deck pan underneath them. In short this is the place you would want to be if a bomb got dropped on the city. However, that doesn't stop the sheister's who work here from trying to sell you heir garbage insurance.

We like the facility and had a nice experience with the person who helped us set up service. Our rate nearly doubled after the promotional period proving this industry is just like gyms and cable service. Game playing to acquire customers then raise the rates when it’s too inconvenient to change. I wish companies like this would just be forthright and honest. With reviews similar to this one, the company responds with a broad explanation that increases are to keep up with the rising cost of maintaining quality service and facilities. If that were actually true, it would mean they have a wild misunderstanding of their operating costs that is passed on to the customer. Since it is a pattern as displayed in their reviews, that’s clearly not the case. Very bummed out because we were so excited when we moved our things in.

Toya, the Manager, was extremely helpful in getting me into a slightly smaller alternative unit, after the monthly rate for the larger one increased about $ 100, four months after renting. Discussing some difficulty in navigating a fully loaded flatbed on the elevators alone, while also trying to use the security keypad system, Toya was understanding and offered some helpful suggestions. The four indoor parking spaces at this location, right by the elevators, with convenient flatbeds nearby, is a real advantage for loading and unloading, especially helpful in bad weather. The building seems secure and Toya mentioned daily checks on all floors to note units that are not securely locked for any reason.

We have had a storage unit at Extra Space Storage on West Devon in Chicago for 3 1/2 years. The building has always been clean and well-maintained and the office staff has been responsive and friendly. ( Shout out to Meda who was very helpful on the phone today.) They also have convenient hours as we can access our unit till 10:00 at night. Our original monthly rate was very cheap but the site manager at the time told me to expect periodic rate increases. That has been true over the 3 1/2 years. So, don’t expect your rent to stay the same, it will gradually go up. Overall we have been very happy with Extra Space Storage.

This was my 1st experience with Extra Space Storage. Trying to juggle schedules with 3 families to empty out our kid’s dorms is a challenge. Three times I had to change our dates. The office staff in your Devon Ave (Chicago) location are amazing. So patient and accommodating. Within minutes, I had an email with all of our storage unit information. Can’t recommend this company enough. Will definitely use them again, until our kids graduate.

Great customer service, really nice and clean location, easy to access and near my apartment. My only qualm is that pricing should be more transparent. When I signed up online for the promotional price, I wasn’t aware that it was only for a limited time. That was not made clear on the website or through digital correspondence. Pretty soon after I moved in my unit increased in price from ~$20 to $36 which is almost 50% increase.

I would like to say that my experience with extra space storage was a pleasant one. The storage unit was very clean. I was very impressed by the way Toya explained what the charges would be. She broke all the charges down and what we should expect down the road. The young lady knows her stuff. She has the knowledge that seems so lacking nowadays. Her personality is infectous. You need more like her.

Space is very clean, employees are helpful and it’s easy to get in and out. However, as a previous reviewer noted, the monthly cost goes up exponentially over time. I started with a rate of around $110/mo. Over the two years I stored there, it went up to $195/mo. I was getting increase notifications every month or two. Charge what the market will bear, I guess.

Toya Bryrant was very very professional and over helpful with our complicated situation. Moving can be a Frustrating time for families but to have people like Ms Bryant with such great hospitality and good customer service makes such an event much easier for customers. So personally thank you Ms Byrant qnd E.S.S. for a great experience.

Clean, bright facility with good security and cameras. Toya is incredibly helpful and patient. When I discovered the locker I rented online was damaged, Toya provided a replacement, made sure I received a reimbursement for the damanged locker, and helped me understand my payment options. My items feel like they're in good hands.

I spoke with Scott, he was very helpful and very patience even though he seemed to have a lot on his plate! He offered so many different options for things allowing me to pick what was best for myself. Extremely easy to set up and the office is always in reach. They have insurance themselves or you can get some separately.

Toya was phenomenal she gave me great advice and info to help save money by transferring to a bigger unit and gave excellent customer service by finding me a unit next to the one I already have which was thoughtful and helpful making my transfer easy and convenient . Great experience with Extra Space Storage at 1650 W. Devon, Chicago. Toya is very helpful, explaining the details and all the options and answering questions with patience. Her colleague (sorry, don't remember his name) was helpful as well. I've been renting space here for the last 3 years and happy to continue.

Recently price gauged with a sudden increase of $80/mth after phone salesperson said prices were locked in for a year (turns out contract said something different). Very disappointing despite this being a nice facility with great people on site.

Rented space for 15 months. It was a very good experience. Everything went smoothly at enrollment and also the checkout process. At the end of the 15 months, there was no dust or spiders etc. I got everything back clean. Overall I'm very satisfied. Will come back if I need storage space in the future.

Brian S. at the Extra Space Storage location @1500 Devon Ave was so helpful, courteous and patient with me. I had some confusion and he did great explaining and understood I had an injury and went above a beyond for me. I was able to downsize like I wanted to! Mission accomplished! Thank you Brian!

Pretty good storage facility. I had a few issues with the elevators not working and im not a huge fan of the locks. They refunded me some of the months that i prepaid when I left early. If i was coming back to chicago i would definitely come here again.

The Store manager, Toya, was super friendly and helpful. I had a bit of a unique case and she helped me find the right unit and also help me find the most economical option that would still fit my needs. I would recommend.
