I have rented two units from the Extra Space Storage on 1265 Oakland Rd in San Jose for about 3 years now. Two days ago, I got a message from the office that the door from one of my units seemed out of place. Mr. Bilal Omar, the store manager, helped me with the assessment. I was very impressed with his professional manner and dedication (multiple trips for tools and perseverance to open the jammed door). But it was the meticulous checking of all units that he performed every night and his keen observation to see a misplaced latch that identified the problem. I feel better with him in charge of my materials. Thanks, Bilal.

The extra space storage experience has become fairly consistent over the couple of times that I've used the service. Unfortunately, there's a new app so you have to register in a completely new way to set up access to your unit via the app. On the upside, customer service is still top notch. The only short coming in the experience is that the manager was not able to walk me to my unit, inspect it, and give me the rundown of the facility. This is probably due to the fact that he seemed to be the only one on staff time, but I guess that's just par for the times.

Update: Bilal decided to increase my rate by $100 after the incident. A week later I received a rate change notice via mail. 4 months in. I would not recommend going to this location. Employee named Bilal Omar threatened to terminate my account because of my attitude. I wouldn't use this location to rent a unit. They can just make up any reason to terminate you, confirmed via call center.

Excellent customer service, Bilal the manager is friendly, professional and helpful. My belongings were safe and secure here night or day. The facility is clean, well lit and has plenty of moving carts to help transport your items. My only suggestion would be to add a few trash cans, as there is no where for customers to dispose of anything.

Manager Bilal Omar recognized me and remembered my name from a few minutes at my initial move in from a few months ago. He’s very professional and was super helpful today. Extra Space storage employees have always been fantastic in my experience in compared to other storage places like Public Storage.

Bilal was a pleasure to work with. He meet all of my service needs and helped me feel comfortable storing my personal items at his location. For this being my first time using a storage, I was nervous. But Bilal made it simple, easy, and comfortable. Thank you!

Watch your bill each month! My bill increased every month. It was up to $257 without the late fees and I didn’t have the largest unit they have! It was the next up from a walk-in closet. The fat chick that works there messes with the accounts. Be careful
