FTJCO was one of my best customer experiences ever! I highly recommend to anyone looking for an alternative gemstone engagement ring. My positive experience started with my very first zoom meeting with Robin. His approach was friendly and informative without being pushy. As I was looking for a Ruby, Robin spent a lot of time explaining the origins of the stones, where they are typically cut and traded, and how they can be traced through the supply chain. Additionally, he explained in easy-to-understand terms the colour gradations of rubies and various treatments they are susceptible to. As a geologist, I am conscious of stone origins regarding mining practice and I highly appreciated FTJCO’s mission to source sustainably mined materials! Having been highly impressed with Robin’s knowledge and FTJCO’s ethos, we visited their Toronto store where he met with my partner and I to discuss design and the stone. Robin used various Rubies and Garnets to get an idea of exactly what colour (the most important aspect) my partner was looking for and the setting it would be in. The appointment was a lot of fun! We got to look at a variety of stones and at no point did we feel pressured. Once he took down some notes of what my partner was looking for, he sent us on our way whilst he searched for stones from their sustainable supply chain. Approximately one month later Robin came back to us with about 10 stones he thought were close to what my partner wanted. They were all slight variations on a medium-dark red with a range of sizes so that we had many options. As we live in Ottawa, Robin shipped us our top contender so we could see it in person before deciding! All the stones he chose for us were within our budget, there was absolutely no attempt to upsell. He hit the colour bang-on, my partner was in love with it right away. After choosing the stone Robin then sent it to a lab to be analyzed. After confirming the stone and setting, the rest was very easy. Their website allowed us to trace the manufacturing process the entire way! I even wanted to do some last-minute laser engraving with a slightly complicated symbol, and they managed to accommodate it easily! I received the ring in a beautiful box and wow was it well made, Kesha did a fantastic job. My partner said yes and the rest is History! I highly recommend FTJCO to anybody looking for pressure-free environment with sustainable mining practices in mind. A truly first class customer experience. -Jason

I LOVE MY RING! The sapphire is such a chameleon depending on the lighting. It’s almost a mood ring - except the mood is always “I love this ring” I feel like the photos don’t capture the intense sparkle of the entire thing! I loved the selection of stones and the ability to go and look at the stones before you choose. It makes perfect sense to design a ring around a perfect (for me!) stone - part of the reason I chose FTJCo for this ring. FTJCo had great customer service and made everything very easy! Very responsive to emails. It also gives me great peace of mind that FTJCo can guarantee the best ethics… I don’t have to have any guilt or wonder about how materials were acquired. We will definitely be going back for wedding bands and all future jewellery needs! UPDATE TO MY REVIEW: Now with wedding band shopping. Our sales profesh Samira was excellent! I had probably about a million questions for her about different rings as we were not able to go back to the store to look in person. Samira sent us sizers to our home and took a ton of photos for me with a setting in-store that was similar to my ring. She also was the one who helped us pick out my engagement ring, so knew what my stone looked like and was able to give her opinion on how the stones in a pre-loved ring I was looking at would compliment my engagement ring. Colours are something that are always hard to know just from looking at photos! I ended up taking the leap on the montana sapphire band, reassured that if for some reason it really didn’t fit with my engagement ring I could send it back and choose a different ring. WELL, I am glad I did because it is perfect! Not sure if it is considered bad luck to have an engagement ring that was “pre-loved”… but to me it is serendipitous that it seems this band was made to be paired with my ring.

My fiancé and I came here October 2013 to have my engagement ring made, we were part of the design process to make sure it would be a piece I would love for years to come. The whole process from start to finish took about 6 weeks, and we were engaged in November. While I loved the ring, because of course my fiancé gave it to me it didn't quite come out the way I had envisioned. The milgrain detailing around the edges wasn't very prominent, very hard to see, and I love the antique heirloom look it gives to a ring. So I brought these concerns to the attention of Robin, the designer and owner. Quite a few months later I might add because I was a little hesitant to tell my fiance it wasn't what I pictured because I didn't want to hurt any feelings. So I brought the ring back the following June 2014 because I decided if it were any other piece of jewellery I probably would have just left it alone, but this was a piece that I would be wearing for a lifetime and I wanted it to be my style and I wanted it too have the quality look of other rings with a similar style (think Tiffany's Legacy style!) After I told him about my issues, he immediately responded and told us to bring the ring in and he would see if he could fix it. Well he did better then fixing it, he completely remade the ring from scratch and it came out PERFECT! I'm absolutely in love with it, it's so me! I couldn't be happier with the end result, and the quality customer service I received! That's what keeps a good business in business. Thanks again Fair Trade Jewellery Co.

I’m extremely disappointed and insulted with FTJ CO. We purchased our custom wedding bands in store. With the promise of allowing for viewing of our rings work in-progress (behind the glass wall). I received and email stating that, our request to view our custom wedding bands in production was “unusual.” That appointments must be made before hand, due to issues with theft. Potential theft being the reason for restricting our visit. Then another email stating that due to covid regulations, they are limiting access. Therefore denying our request to make an appointment to view our wedding bands in production. The only accommodation FTJ Co. suggested was “dropping” our finished rings off, or issuing a refund. Overall, my experience with FTJ Co. has exhibited minimal efforts and poor customer service. I have cancelled our order and will find another jeweller that cares about their customers and is true to their advertisements. FTJ Co. website indicates: “ In early 2022 FTJCo moved into our newly custom-renovated heritage building, which has allowed our team to grow further. Given that transparency is one of our core values, we installed a massive glass wall between the storefront and studio spaces, so that clients can still observe their jewellery being made by our talented goldsmiths. “

Very professional and kind approach towards clients. Really appreciate ethically sourced gold and gemstones. Madelaine was super nice and patient with us today. Highly recommend to buy your rings here. Edit after pickup: Tripple check the size, finish and width of the rings during the pickup and that the rings are corresponding with the invoice. Today, I went to pickup the rings and didn't check them properly as I trusted the employees too much. The FTJ craftsman changed the finish of the originaly polished ring to satin finish, which I discovered at home. So I called back and pointed out the mistake and I was offered to come back asap. I went back within an hour and the lady told me that the finish can be changed, but it would take 3 days and the ring will be FedExed to me. My wedding day is next week so I told them that is not an option for me and I asked her if it is possible to ask the craftman how long would it take to re-do the finish - the answer was 10 minutes and that I can wait. So suddenly the customer (me) didn't have to wait 3 days but just 10 minutes to fix the shop's mistake. Owner, if you read this, your shop and rings are beautiful, but the pro-client approach could be better, since we are literally spending thousands of dollars.

The only jewelry company I ever want to work with! I work in ethical supply chain management, so when I started my search for an ethically sourced engagement ring, I had a high bar. I quickly realized that most jewelers (even the small business owners) who claimed "conflict free" or "responsibly sourced" or "eco-friendly" gemstones and jewelry mostly had no real way of demonstrating how they meet those claims. Some jewelers say that the follow the Kimberly Process for avoiding conflict minerals and leave it at that. The Kimberly Process is well known to have a number of loopholes that make it so it is not a guarantee of ethical sourcing. My search eventually led me to FTJCo, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they could back up their claim of fair trade and responsibly sourced with real information about the traceability of their stones and metals, and good knowledge of and high standards for the world of ethical sourcing. As a professional in the field myself, their awareness was refreshing and reassuring. On top of that, they are wonderful to work with and make beautiful pieces! Couldn't be happier with the truly one of a kind ring I ended up with.

This place is a real gem. As far as I know, this is the only place that could check the boxes: -ethically sourced gold -lab grown sapphires and diamonds -Canadian artists and goldsmiths -unique and customizable styles -reasonably priced -no-pressure, knowledgeable, fast-communicating, overall super helpful staff And, I mean, _super_ helpful. Their staff: -laid out individual diamonds just so that I could validate my budget and understand better what is important to me in that sparkly aesthetic -provided a tour of their production floors! 3D printers, smelters, laser engraver, the works -responded to emails super fast, complete with quotes, photos of gems, and comparable rings I live in Kitchener-Waterloo and only went to the store twice - once to confirm that they are who their site says they are; and again to pick up the ring my fiance loved. It's a long way to go for a ring, but the process working with their staff was a pleasure, and the quality of the ring speaks for itself. FTJCo, is a real diamond in the rough.

I have been a client of FTJCo for a few years now, and every experience with them has been excellent. Nicolette worked with me to ensure that every detail of my jewellery was how I wanted it, and gave her professional input when requested. She was sensitive to the personal elements of my jewellery, including repurposing my previously loved stones into new pieces. The final pieces have the highest quality craftsmanship by the goldsmiths. I really appreciate that I can bring my jewellery back to them for an annual inspection/cleaning. It’s very easy to make an appointment online. I also love that FTJCo is socially-conscious and donated to a charity of my choosing during the pandemic. Their care for the environment and the people who source their materials is apparent in their business practices.

I don't normally write reviews but I thought I should in this case because I had such a great experience. I highly recommend this place for the following reasons: 1. Everything is ethically sourced which is what my partner and I wanted in a Jeweller. I was told that if they didn't know where the diamond was sourced, then to them it might as well be a blood diamond and they wouldn't sell it to begin with. 2. There's no pressure to buy anything. We provided our budget on what we wanted to spend on the ring and Robin, who was helping us, showed us all the rings within that budget and answered all of our questions. We felt really comfortable shopping around without any pressure. 3. The after sales support was great! From picking up the ring after the purchase to the reimbursement of the jewellery insurance, the experience was easy and smooth.

My husband and I have 4 pieces in total (his wedding band, my wedding band, my engagement ring and a pave band) from Fair Trade Jewellery Co., and after a recent experience there I am very happy we made the choice to buy from this company. After 7 years of having my engagement ring, I came into the store because the design of the ring was trapping moisture and causing discomfort. The staff could not have been more accommodating - they determined that the ring was constructed with an older design that wasn't inline with their current practices, which accounted for the problem. They offered to remake the ring free of charge and resolve the issue. Now my ring is even more perfect! FTJCo truly stands behind the quality of their products and cares about their customers' experience and happiness.

Love Fair Trade Jewellery Company. They were incredibly helpful, supportive, and gave great guidance during our engagement and wedding journey. Their Loaner Program is a particular highlight, I would HIGHLY recommend to people who want to turn engagement rings into an experience with their partner. My fiancé ended up going with a custom engagement rings which she designed (pictured), and it turned out to be a beautiful and timeless piece. We're now looking at their wedding bands! Another reason to recommend FTJC is because they are a certified B Corp. I don't know much about jewelry but the staff here made the whole thing easy. My main concern was making sure the engagement ring was ethically sourced and the fact that it is part of their mission statement was the reason I chose this place. The consultation was relaxed and very informative. Once we chatted about the style and my girlfriend's tastes, they actually suggested I take a smaller diamond! They even let me take a ring sizer home to compare with her rings to get the size right. Won't need to get it resized now. Truly attentive and thoughtful service. The ring was ready on time, as promised and looks amazing. My fiancée loves it and can't stop raving about it. Will definitely be getting our wedding bands here as well. Wonderful experience. This is now my third custom piece from FTJ. I live in the US, and so I have to send my pieces to be reimagined up to them—it is worth the expense and then some! I am a lover and collector of antique and vintage jewelry and am always coming across designs that I love, but as many of those pieces are one-of-a-kind it's often hard to find something like them again. Robin and his team have taken pieces I have sent them (vintage bands) and reimagined them based on designs of antique rings I submit to them. And they are simply beautiful. The team is so responsive and so committed to getting it right. They are helpful with suggestions about how to do something well, and their prices are very fair given the quality of their work. I recommend them time and again!

We had a great experience with FTJCo for my engagement ring and our wedding bands! The staff make it the process very easy. They have a large selection of stone (natural and lab) and settings. They also have customization services, so you can create your perfect piece. They also will work with you and your budget. The staff is very knowledgeable and will share all of your options on metals and stones. The first consultation left us with a lot of confidence in the product, and they have an online status check so you can follow along to anticipate the completion date. Pick up is flexible as well, and any questions that we had throughout were quickly answered. I would highly recommend FTJCo for anyone wanting to create their engagement/wedding bands.

To start, we wanted our rings from Ftjco after seeing some of their beautiful work online and their ethical/sustainable vision. We ended up taking a trip down to Toronto and met with Nicolette in person after exchanging a few emails. I shared pictures of inspiration for our wedding bands and she had all possible ring options ready to try on and discuss. At no point did we feel pressured or uncomfortable. She was super friendly, the store was very inviting and safe! (So important during these covid times). She left us with quotes and ideas to think about. I am having difficulty writing this review because I am continuously distracted by this most beautiful, delicate and timeless engagement ring from Fair Trade Jewellery Co. Robin and the entire team at FTJ were so wonderful to work with. They were courteous, informative and a real pleasure to deal with. My now fiance, took me ring shopping in October and the staff made the experience wonderful and safe in the middle of this Pandemic. The website is a great resource and my fiance has said that emailing with Robin was easy and convenient. As for me, the ring is above and beyond what I could ever have hoped for. not only is it ethically sourced and mined, it is also a Canadian Diamond. It really is a work of art. 100% would recommend

I absolutely adore the vintage inspired engagement ring my fiancé chose for me from this shop with the help of the team at FTJCo. Not the best photos, sorry! One star removed unfortunately due to a less than ideal customer service experience when we went in to finalize and size the ring. It was clear that I needed help with sizing (as in, I had made it quite clear by asking for guidance) but didn’t really get much support. It made me uncomfortable and just want to leave the shop as quickly as possible, as I felt like I was inconveniencing that employee. I’m thinking that experience is not the usual one for this shop and so I would give them further tries in the future. Grateful for ethical and beautiful, unique jewelry options!

After visiting several high-end brands and experiencing how behind some organizations are on how to treat two people who are so excited to become married one day and also happen to be two males, we were referred to FTJco, we reluctantly made an appointment. From the moment we walked into the store, we were greated by a very bright young student jeweler with a big smile and when she found out that we were shopping for our wedding rings, she made sure to treat us equally and with Genuine Care. Everything about this experience was fantastic. After seeing some of their work on Instagram I couldn't even look at other jewelers because nothing compared to the beauty and elegance of their pieces. I had a awesome experience here when buying an engagement ring for my fiancee. The staff were so friendly, offered great advice and were able to accommodate a tight deadline to have a beautiful custom-designed ring (which my wife-to-be loved) ready for my planned proposal date. We didn't hesitate to go back there when it came time to buy our wedding rings and, again, the level of customer service was fantastic. After selecting our rings, the owner even gave us a behind-the-scenes tour of the shop, showing us how they design and make the rings. I can't recommend Fair Trade Jewellery Co highly enough.

I recently had a new wedding band designed & created at FTJCo. I was determined to find a place that was both socially responsible & didn’t rhodium plate their white gold jewelry. I’m so glad I stumbled on FTJCo. The team was amazing, prompt at responding (thanks Sydney!), kept me updated every step of the way, and my ring was done earlier than expected. The ring itself is beautiful, better than I even imagined. It is simple but elegant, and I have received so many compliments. From the beginning to end the process was seamless! The whole staff was great when I went in for the first appointment I was never pressured like other jewellers I had visited. They were helpful and super quick to respond via email and phone. I worked with 3 different members of the team (annoying to most people) but the system they have in place makes it so easy and effortless and I never have to repeat Information over and over. They were lovely to work with and our rings are gorgeous. Now, three years later, I have developed a gold allergy. My wedding ring gives me a serious rash. I contacted Diana at FTJ and she helped me enormously. They will make me a new platinum ring just charging me the difference in cost. They will also recycle the gold from my first ring. I love love love this store.

The collaboration with one of their designers was fun and creative, using photos, drawings, and video, and she designed exactly what I wanted. One order arrived in the US from Canada in 25 hours. We just bought our wedding rings from FTJ and we only have praise for the company. We live in Europe but it was not a problem at all. Our contact at FTJ answered to all our e-mails within 12 hours (even on weekends) and we could design the exact product we wanted.
