I don't like giving negative reviews. Before, I was impressed with the quality of staff and my experiences at Fabio Scalia. I was a model for a haircut. It was supposed to be some version a long, layered cut. I'm extremely unhappy with the results. It was a dramatic change from what I had. The haircut looks terrible. The hairstyle is extremely difficult to maintain. There was almost no communication between the stylist and myself, in terms of what she was doing -- and the intended result. I came with healthy, waist-length hair. I left with an ugly, nightmare haircut. Most of my hair was cut to a dramatic, bob-length layer. As she was cutting, there were 6"-12" segments, flying on my lap. There is easily a 12" difference between the longest and the shortest pieces. There were thin, stringy pieces towards the back. The end result resembled some horror hybrid between a long version of "The Rachel" -- an 80's shag -- and escaped psychiatric patient from some horror movie. At minimum, it's absolute nightmare to style. It makes my natural, curly hair look like an electrified, sloppy mess. There was absolutely no prior discussion about my lifestyle, styling routine -- or what I was looking for. I understand this was a haircutting class. However, it's also unreasonable to treat a human being like a mannequin. I really wish that the trainee stylist posted pictures of what she was trying to accomplish, both to inform prospective models -- and to find an appropriate candidate. It really sucks when the haircut is a drastic change -- and cannot really be corrected. Sure, it's "just hair". But it will take 6-9 months to grow out. Meanwhile, I have to live with this ugly haircut. I'm also stuck using styling products -- and wearing my hair in a bun. My hair looks absolutely gross, even when tied back into a ponytail. I'm very upset -- and extremely disappointed. Major bummer.

If you are looking for the ultimate hair’sperience experience, Fabio Scalia salon is the place to go. The vibe is warm, and welcoming from the minute you enter this very spacious, airy and modern salon. The small touches make this a 5 star review: The menu of coffees to choose from, the consultation with my colorist Rocco, taking the time to talk about my color needs and expectations. The very delightful massage chairs while my hair was being washed PLUS the amazing head massage during this time. The time Fabio takes to talk about my cut and style. He is truly an expert at his profession and views hair as art. I am always so pleased and happy when I leave. His entire staff is so talented, knowledgeable and attentive - shoutout to Mary, Samantha, Guilia - and the front desk - Miguel and Stella. This is a very special place and I have recommended this salon to every one of my friends. My entire family goes to this salon- we are hooked. Thank you all for making our experience so good.

Very friendly staff/clean environment but highly disappointing experience. I have very curly hair if any of this seemed too challenging or daunting I rather transparency. Communication could have been more thorough before the cut if there was a concern not enough time was booked, the final style achieved none of the goals/options we discussed which if we’re not possible should have been communicated, I stated I don’t use heat on my hair and got lots of heat making it worse so that was ignored. I went to the bathroom composed myself, fixed my hair to be presentable, and left wishing I never came.

Very impressed with Giulia Farella's work! She listened to my needs very attentively and made it happen exactly the way I wanted! We did highlights. Very professional and also cares about not damaging the hair while coloring it! I am usually very protective about my hair and Gulia made sure that there won't be any damage. Antonio trimmed my hair and did the styling - he is very professional, and was gentle with my hair. Very satisfied with the results! I had a very pleasant experience and would definitely come back!! Salon has a great friendly atmosphere!

Rocco Crisci at Fabio Scalia Salon is fantastic! His work is always consistent - and most people know how important that aspect of hair coloring is! I always get compliments on how natural my color looks. I’ve seen his other clients while I’m there and their hair always looks fantastic too. Rocco gives off a great vibe - always pleasant and patient and super knowledgeable. The salon itself is very clean, modern and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend Rocco and this salon.

Giulia is a godsend - I got highlights at a different (unrelated) salon in Brooklyn and was unhappy with them so I went to see Giulia to see if she could fix it for me. She really listened and asked questions to understand what I wanted and did an amazing job fixing it for me. She truly knows color and also gave me great advice for dying my hair in the future - I won't go to anyone else but her for color in the future!

They cancelled FIFTEEN minutes before my scheduled appointment time of 10:45 AM. I understand my stylist wasn’t feeling well but what a colossal waste of my time. Edit: Looking at the salon’s Instagram and they posted a story of Antonio cutting someone else’s hair same day AFTER they cancelled on me. So rude and inconsiderate.

Loveeee my hair color and cut! Adela gave me beautiful highlights just before summer and made me dark again just in time for fall/winter and I loved it both times! Samantha also gave me the most perfect curtain bangs and face framing which I needed! Super friendly staff, always so welcoming and happy, glad I found this place
