This is not the first time purchasing items from Factory Direct, but this is the first time visiting this location. In the past I made purchases from FD, which were a bit lets called it glitchy but turn out ok after the issue has been resolved. Very please with the product purchased in the past. From this location (Orfus) I bought a go pro look a like clone. Beside the fact the quality of the video was crappy compared with other go pro like clone, the box was missing items from it. For example some of the different mounts that it showed on the box that the camera should have come with were not in the box. I guess for future reference customers have to make sure that the product has some sort of seal (even though most of the items are refurbished / open boxes) and open it in the store to check the content. By the way the product that I purchased was supposed to be brand new as per website description, so no excuse should be applicable from my perspective. Prior to this visit my ratings for FD was good, now I can't say the same especially for this particular location. Also need to mention that the store was understaffed for weekend day when I visited. I would definitely stay away from this location, and I would visit any other location if I need to.
If I could give this location negative stars I would! 2x now the Insider Plus membership would not work and the staff ensure to be as unhelpful as possible. 1st time was in November 2021 and even though I had activated my card online their system said otherwise. The staff had me re register a new card and afterwards gave me back the non working card, unknown to me. So when I was just in this location today, same issue. Staff basically had an oh well, it's your problem you didn't register your card. Then after them basically unwilling to find a solution and provide actual customer service, I was told to find the email to confirm my registration. Did that and the staff entered the card number wrong multiple times. Then the manager appeared and again, implied it was my fault. Finally got through the cash after their point of sale froze, which is a common theme at this location as well. I will not be going to this location ever again. Too much fusteration to save a couple of dollars. I will go to another location in the future and unless you don't want unneeded hassle or grief I suggest others avoid this location as well.
- They sold me a broken tablet - I bought a tablet from here that had issues with its keyboard, the screen itself via touch sensitivity and freezing randomly. Brought it back for repairs and they seemed more concerned about the warranty length. They probably invested more passion and effort into crunching the numbers on the timeline than any other part of this process. I got the product back and the battery life had been significantly shortened and the charger point is broken. No USB cables work. Keyboard still won't connect, pen no longer drags though. Unfortunately that means nothing when it won't turn on. They broke the product, I brought a faulty but salvagable product in for repairs and now it's completely unusable and thats no longer their responsibility because the warranty window has past. Does a warranty apply to a product that was broken when they sold me it though, and that they broke when I came to them within the window??? I paid them money for a broken product and they made it worse. I paid them (the warranty) for a chance to make it worse.
A decent walk from a bus stop. Parking hasn't seemed to be an issue. Knowledgeable staff, able to quickly point to me in the right direction; I was able to find what I was looking for with ease. They were able to explain things about the product I was thinking of buying. Also great at recommending other products one might be interested in. Fairly clean store. These kinds of stores usually have a whole bunch of things for sale; lots of different brands and types of products, so they can appear somewhat cluttered. They did have a product I was looking for, but couldn't find, in some of the bigger stores, like BestBuy. Good prices. I would definitely expect higher prices if I were to find some of the items in bigger stores. Bought an mp3 here long ago (2-3 years, maybe), and I have repeatedly scratched it, forgotten it under heavy objects (don't ask, haha) and dropped it, even into water, and it still works very well. Would recommend.
Accessibility to the location is very frustrating, especially with extremely narrow sidewalk & no nearby curb cuts , other stores also routinely block accessibility of sidewalk, with held open doors, clutter. The front door is NOT powered, very heavy & bit of a step to get in, very narrow space. Staff are generally ok, some good ppl, but others clearly don't understand the products, have done zero research on products they sell, especially tech related items. Store gets VERY cluttered, difficult to navigate with a power wheelchair, staff tend to block the electronics service desk with massive boxes, and completely ignores accessibility needs of customers. Some staff can be extremely rude.. I hate coming to this location, but it's the closest toy home & is more accessible to get into than Scarborough (Kennedy/Ellesmere) location. I have been shopping at various Factory Direct locations, since the chain started.
I attempted to purchase a television through their flyer via their webpage. It had a price tag of $749 or four payments of $136. Obviously something was wrong with their addition, but I called them on it. I called a rep who asked me to email them. I did and the price in the flyer changed the next day. They refused to respond to me, despite multiple attempts. Not only did they not honor their flyer, the cowards wouldn't even get back to me. I wanted my ten dollars off as dictated by law. Hahaha. Actually I was just hoping for a thanks. I changed my star rating from five to three. I'll leave my old review to show why they get to keep the stars. My old post read. Best prices in the city if you have patience and wait for deals. I check the flyer weekly and sometimes it takes months to find what I want, still worth it. It generally has good prices even without a special. Made for nerd needs on a budget.
Wish I had seen the reviews before shopping here. Some products are final sale but they don't tell you that when you buy the product. They tell you they have a 10 day return policy but they don't tell you that there's no way you're getting your money back. Some employees can seem dumb and I can see how that is mistaken for rudeness. Most of the products aren't brand names, but they're Chinese brands you've never heard of. And the products that are brand names are used or easily broken. This place's second name must be Factory Defect. If you buy something edible, make sure to check the expiration date to see that hasn't expired 1 year ago. I had to learn this the hard way. The fact that this place still exists is nothing short of a miracle. In conclusion, it's not worth the headache and it's not worth the visit. But if you must go here, then be cautious.
Worst costumer service and so unprofessional. My experience wasn't great with JENNIFER H,she wears glasses. I called to check if an item was available JENNIFER H received my call and said she would check if the item was available I was on a hold for a very long time by then I knew she wasn't looking so I cut the call and called again. JENNIFER H received my call again so I asked her why she put me on hold and didn't get back to me ? JENNIFER H said in a very rude manner: " I can't check for you we're very busy and I can't anyone else too either". It literally takes 2 minutes to check if an item is available . Wouldn't go here ever again worst experience .
There are some good deals in this store for sale at a significant discount. Although many of them are refurbished, given the price, they are usually worth or more than worth the price. Its customer service is pretty impressive, in my view, better than Sears, or even Bestbuy. I bought a Sony blue Ray player online, which carries 90 warranty, I found one of its function not working just one week before the expiry of warranty. I could not find the box nor the receipt, but they just checked my email and exchanged for me. I have to say, goods are being sold at discount here, but no discount in their service. Definitely will recommend it to you if you are budget sensitive.
Ordered a Danby Portable AC June 29th it was scheduled to be available for me to pick it up today. I got excited too fast of course I would wake up to a email this morning saying Its delayed cause they can't be responsible and make sure I get my AC today with the heat wave coming back Monday. Email says I'm not getting it until Wednesday or Friday of next week pretty much at the mercy of delivery drivers..This is really inconvenient and in no way acceptable to be putting customers at the mercy of your delivery drivers. Brampton location has the AC in stock but again at the mercy of delivery drivers who only come to North York Wednesdays and Fridays....
Went in to exchange a refurbìshed macbook pro I'd bought online that would barely run. I was surprised to see (compared to the diversity of othèr stock) how small the computer section & how little selection or exchange options they had but found one traded up and went home to find it was worlds better than the glorified light up paperweight I first had but stilĺ went run most programs & is driving me nuts. They offered a refund I wanted to give it one more shot third timès the charm? Still waiting to get confirmation on a thìrd try & it's been weeks. All in all friendly staff large selection refurbished products not worth the time or grief.
The fact that you have to have a "membership" in order to do a return or refund of a broken product is simply absurd and likely illegal. You're only allowed a store credit for faulty merchandise, not a refund - and you need a membeeahip for said credit. Therefore they could have a store full of things that don't work and can keep your money in an endless stream of returns for "store credits" that expire after a year. No thanks. The staff were nice and helpful, but they couldn't adequately explain the legality of the membership thing. This review is about store corporate policy, not the staff.
We are new to the neighborhood. Visited this Factory Direct location a few times. Calling them in advance to reserve an item has been a bliss. Our most recent purchase was a slide out storage tower. Talked with Emanuel about 15 minutes before the store closed. He answered my call and was flexible to reserve two units for our next day pickup. My husband found out that Emanuel went to a different location to get us the products. That's what we called seamless customer service. Extremely happy with the purchase and this location has an awesome team. Thank you and you got a repeat customer :-)
They say that most of the "Factory Refurbished" items are essentially new. I bought two disks and was told if I wasn't happy I could get a refund. Both had been used for over four years! I was then told I could get only a store credit. A couple of months later and both disks have died. Strange how the errors read zero but errors appear in two months on disks that supposedly had no errors after four years. My guess is they zero out the errors..A $60 disk is not a bargain compare to a new disk of the same capacity with a replacement warranty costing twice the price.
Don't be fooled by the store, the staff is very kind and the 2 cashier women I spoke with were very knowledgeable and helpful. I bought two Dyson products for a new rental house I am living in. One's refurbished performance was less than I expected but I got a exchange with ease. You can even get a refund if you sign-up for the insider program. The exchange/refund/store-credit is 10 days from factory direct. I have no complaints for a functional vacuum guaranteed from Dyson for 1 year at half the price of big box retailes.
As stated by others, be very cautious. they don't give your money back if something is not in good quality. They haven't mentioned properly which is confusing many people like me. Most of the electronics (inc TVs) are "Refurbished" and not new. I went there and bought a TV because it was $80 cheaper than Costco and when I set it up I realized it is not in good quality at all. I called them and I noticed there is not any return. Later when I searched more I noticed the TV was refurbished and not new. Big loss. Be careful!
I always enjoy getting discounted electronics at this store, plus you can get as seen on TV items as well, but get 'em while you can as they don't re-stock the same items all the time. I totally enjoy the air conditioner that I got a few years ago. My bedroom gets very hot and sticky in the summer, but my A.C. unit keeps it nice and cool. I also got a couple of no-name small heaters to keep me warm in the winteŕ. They were cheaper and stronger than the small one that I got at Canadian Tire. I returned that one.
This store is becoming useless because it brings things which are redundant and fails to bring new or relatively new stuff and seems to be a waste of time visiting it. Online shopping with them is often problematic because whenever I tried to place order things are shown as delayed or will inform you sort of response after placing the order. Once it even was cancelled after confirming g without any reason cited in the message. Management certainly needs to make it relevant.
Very good selection and descent prices but severely understaffed. There was one other person working on the floor other than the cashier who obviously couldn't really leave the register to help customers so the one other sales person was trying to do his best to help the crowd of people that had formed around him but there is only so much one person can do. This was on a Saturday afternoon which is peak retail time so they should definitely have more people working.
I bought TV almost a year ago and a week ago it started to flicker. Brought TV for a repair and got it for free (as it was manufacturer defect). All the process was smooth and managers were extremely helpful. I am not sure you'll get free repair in case you need it, but I am 100% sure you'll be treated well at this place! The crew will do all their best to assist you. Thank you Paula, Jason and all the Factory Direct team! Highly recommend this place!
I called in with a question and someone by the name of either Justin or justice answered and once I had asked if they carry a product he told me to hold on while he checked. I was on hold for 57 mins before I hung up. I made dinner while my phone was on hold. I am very displeased with the service I was given or lack there of. Very disrespectful to treat people like that, if you don't have it say you don't instead of saying "stay on the line".
Found what I need and the keyboard and mouse works well. Spacious store and lot of eye catching time wasting good available for a individual who just want to browse and have a little shopping therapy. Go in, you will find something you need that you don't know of. They have almost everything except clothing, they probably have clothing. But if you are looking for quality product that you want to last years on, maybe this is not the place for you.
This store has terrible safety measures and does not follow the Ontario covid 19 bylaw of mask wearing. This afternoon I left the store for the reason I noticed several customers either not wearing any type of face covering or not using a face covering properly (mask under a chin). I also noticed a woman not wearing a mask entering an employee only area looking for assistance with an item in the store, for everyone's safety this is unacceptable.
Order online and choose to pick up in store at this location. Got the confirmation email that my order was ready for pickup. When I arrived to pick up my order no one was in line and showed my email for pickup. Waited for 15 minutes and still didn’t get my order. I thought it would be quick since I was in a rush and couldn’t wait longer so I left. They should advise customer's if picking up an order wait time would be long, very disorganized.
Double charged my debit and holding me up for 20 mins+ insane. Machine glitched and they had to speak to management to solve it. Completley unprofessional. UPDATE: Refund not issued. Had to leave with less money than I came with. Whoever is management, your machines are a joke, what are you running it on Windows XP. Not once did the manager apologize or the worker. Worst experience I've had in the last few years that I rememeber.
The customer service in this store is really really good. If you treat these people with respect it will pay off big time. I assure you. I had a return issue on a very exspensive item. I came in exspecting the worst but these are real people if you just talk to them they will be very helpful. They made my day. I left the store so happy . Id have no problem buying an exspensive item here again. Great AAAA service.
I have dealt with the same woman who i assume is the manager 3 times now. Between the corporate headquarters and the woman at North York location, were able to resolve a refurbished problem swiftly and I appreciate their professionalism and customer service. The manager (I assume is the woman) has outstanding customer service, patience and works at incredible speeds even with having long line ups. Good job!
Placed an order online for in-store pickup. Days later, both the store and the head office said they were running behind but would send the unit to the store soon. 2 weeks later, they still hadn't shipped it to the store and kept telling me to be patient. They also refused to have it shipped to my home directly when it became available. This is for a unit I was supposed to be able to pickup right away.
Alright place to shop for new and refurbished items. Lots of products too choose from. Electronics, kitchen items, household products, showerheads and computers, laptops, and cell phones. Lots of accessories. Blow dryers. shavers etc. Reasonable prices. Game consoles sold there also. Excellent place for xmas shopping. Recommend you check it out. Toys and scooters for kids.
Thought I was getting some good deals, but when I went to pay, the bill was way higher than I calculated. Some of the items were priced higher than displayed on the shelf. I was told these are "coupon prices" and i have to tell the clerk to get the discount. It took about 45 minutes before I got my refund and I missed a few stored I wanted to go to because they had closed.
I’ve been disappointed with FD since they closed the downtown Toronto stores, but ventured here as I was already in the area. Limited staff, but plenty of the products they were advertising on hand at this Factory Direct. Found what I was looking for (and some things I hadn’t planned to buy.) The clerk in electronics helped a great deal when choosing my iPad.
I check their website weekly- the available merchandise changes quick and regularly. They offer HOME DELIVERY SERVICES anywhere in Canada- and ask "ship to store" if you don't have a house- I guess! I have gotten my 42" Smart TV; mobile phone; laptop and random good deals (mop kit+ wine glasses+ a box of candy witches). A unique opportunity for sure.
Daughter bought me a phone and had to return 2 times the same month and after that the battery kept getting so hot the phone kept restarting when I called they gave me such a hard time telling me I would have to pay even though she paid for 1 year warranty Never again. I wouldn't advise anyone to buy electronics from this store
A place where you can get anything concerning household and office equipment for a less amount than the regular stores any a little defect that you won't notice... these are stuff that either did not pass quality inspection or rather refurbished... most times... but go there and find what you like.. and come back to thank me..
I purchase a router online as a gift and it turned out that it was refurbished and there was no indication of that online on the website. Disappointing considering I could have purchased this brand new from Best Buy for only $10 more. I do not appreciate the false and misleading advertising techniques from this company.
I am not sure what they do to motivate the retail staff at this store, but whatever it is it is working! This factory direct has the most professional and knowledgeable staff I have ever seen. They are almost always friendly and courteous and seem to enjoy their jobs whenever I've been there. It's a nice thing to see.
DO NOT buy electronics from any of their locations. They buy “return” and” overspill” electronics from the US which voids any Manufacturers warranty in Canada . Fix these not so A grade items with low budget materials then resell. Long story short it will break quicker than it should.
Brand name products at bargain prices. The staff is polite, and customer oriented. Bought a Nikon camera, computer peripherals, two vacuums and household cleaning products there. All brand name and all at bargain prices. Am looking at a Sony UHD tv as my next purchase. Good company.
Hand sanitizer almost empty, some staff had mask below nose and not wearing gloves nor sanitizing hands. Many products not priced and staff, when you could get them, had to refer via their phone to look up price via bar or Q code. Minimal product knowledge.
This is my go to place for a wonderful, friendly and helpful staff that is A+ in my books. Unfortunately, it's up in North York, so it's a bit of a trek from Cabbagetown. I do it in my electric wheelchair. It's great when everything works on the TTC.
Horrible service, 1 guy in electronics dealing with way too many customers equals long, long wait for service. Bought pair of AirPod Pros. No user manual, airpods don't connect or work. Will be returning them tomorrow for full refund. Waste of time.
I saw a Google Tv 40" last week so i appraoch a location then its $189.99 then I order to local store in scarbirough , gave phone after 1 week obviously is Boxing Day new Flyer same item is $220 now they have item i have to more .. is this fair ?
Went to this location for the first time, and the Customer Service Representative named Jason, he is very kind and helpful with selecting a phone. While providing honesty as well. Thanks man I appreciate you and keep up the great work!
Before if something went wrong, they would only provide store credit. Even if you came back the very next day. Now they have a refund policy for 10 days. I've bought couple of things here. Staff is friendly. Location is good.
Bought a few electronics there for cheap à year ago, they are still going strong even after taking abuse from the kids. I understand they sell end of line stuff, but it's usually good quality stuff with good discounts.
Sometimes you get good deals. The staffs are nice. If possible, check your products well before going to the cashier. Not all products are in great conditions, especially those not having a packaging as protection.
This store sells stuff at very reasonable price.. mostly limited, seasonal and refurbished items. returns/ exchanges accepted within 10 days.. if you are not sure about the suitability of the product, then avoid.
Seems like a lot of their merchandise is refurbished but you may find some brand new items a well. They sell electronics, televisions, outdoor furniture, small kitchen appliances, computer equipment and cables.
Horrible place. They advertise saying upto 80% but there isn't a single deal. Even the people that work in the store stated it was just a marketing gimic to get people to come in. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE
Good deals, wide variety of products! Its literally a one stop shop, they have almost everything for cheap! I was able to get stuff for every room in my house, for my car, for my dog and even electronics.
I've shopped at Factory Direct for decades (literally). Prices and items are great, but you have to be cautious to check out the refurbished items before buying. Otherwise, I love the store chain.
I had a return on a 2yrs warranty purchase, it was easy, yet to get my purchase replaced though. Store wasn't too busy, staff seemed overwhelmed by few customers line up. Otherwise good bargain
Good selection and prices. Free parking. Checkout could be faster. I had questions while shopping and easily found a staff member for assistance. I would return to this location in the future.
Just bought a refurbished Macbook Air and I love it so much. It is in pristine condition, even though it has a level b rating. Thank you for giving me a product that I love with great savings
Saw some nicely priced electronics. Don't buy the candy at the front. It's August 27th, 2016. I visited on the 26th and saw a box of 'Turtles' that expired in March, 6 months prior.
Find this gem by random drive. I can find things with low prices that make you doubt quality, but be sure it's real. Since then, I've always checked the flyer for goodies from here
They things at reasonable prices, as I have never had any problems with refurbished things purchased. Sole issue sometimes things are sold out before I can get there.
I bought SnowJoe electric snow remover. It is excellent but there was one part missing. When I informed them, they sent it by parcel service. Excellent service.
Awesome place to buy some things on the cheaper side and good customer service. Store has plenty to see and many great deals here i wanna come again
Just make sure it works before you leave the store. I bought a phone and a different model phone was in the box and covered with finger prints.
5* to customer service! Truly patient and helpful. To the public, if you want it,get it, cause they don't last long here.
Awesome discounts on must-have items. Good service. Shop online and pick up at the store. Close to Dufferin bus route.
Good deals on random items from homeware, electronics, garden & cleaning supplies. Alot of "as seen on tv" items too
Nice store, lots of useful stuff sold for very competitive prices. Knowledgeable and courteous staff. Will go back.
Nice place to buy refurbished things and so many great item are there. And Great customer service .
Very helpful even at closing time they hurried me in not turning me away.I was glad I stopped by.
Good prices and the staff were very kind and helpful. I bought the item I wanted in a good price.
Representative Carlos is simply a amazing Costumer Service with human being heart on it!!
Always able to get what i need if not they make sure to bring it on from another store
The quality of the products is far from good (reason why the price is so low)
Cashier unable to give seniors discount although it's on there flyer
Could be better organized. Good prices with a limited selection
Several options, affordable prices and polite&helpful staff.
Alot less stuff in this location but still some good finds!
Big fan of this store. Lots of things for great prices.
There great but electronic are kinda iffy.
Great items and prices
