The service and quality of food has been going down for several years at this restaurant. On our latest visit we were forced to sit in the bar because the restaurant side "had a large party come in and it will be a while before a server can get to you." Seriously! The place was half empty and they couldn't take care of a party of two for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. On the bar side the bartender had to also wait on all the tables. She was very nice but one person can't take care of the bar and wait tables on a Sunday afternoon during football season. It was also noisy, which is why we didn't want to sit in the bar. Food was decent when it used to be excellent. The last two visits the burnt ends have been chewy and not melt in your mouth tender like they used to be. The ribs were OK but not the quality they used to be. When a rib joint can't get ribs right something is seriously wrong. When we paid the bill we were told we couldn't leave a tip with our gift cards. Ridiculous. On our previous visit we were told they had to get manager approval to use a gift card for tips. She did it but messed up the gift cards. We had a card with only a couple dollars left on it and we told her to use that card first so we didn't have to carry multiple cards. She messed that up and we ended up with multiple gift cards with only a few dollars on them. Where do they find these people? This is not a complicated request. We visit a Famous Dave's location in MN when we visit there in the summer. The food and the service at that location is still excellent. Not sure why they can't get it right here in San Jose. We will not be going back to the San Jose location.

So we ordered the $30 meal for one and burnt ends. Burnt ends was 6/10 it tasted like oversmoked canned meat and the onion straws was a 8/10 . The ribs was a 4/10, edible but so dry. The 1/4 chicken was 7/10 it had decent flavor. Coleslaw 8/10 reminds you of KFC. The beans was a 7/10 nice smokey kick to it. Cornbread 10/10 only complain needed more lol and butter. Pulled pork was a 2/10 it was super dry like the ribs honestly probably left 80% of it because it was so dry. Our server was nice and our alcohol beverages was good. Bloody mary 8/10. Black cherry smash 5/10 it was too strong and so it made it taste like medicine. Strawberry lemonade was a 8/10. House made bbq chips was a 3/10 for me but bf rated the chips a 6/10. Now we thought we was getting happy hour prices but we sadly learned this bloody mary was $11 and my black cherry smach was $13!!! Geezus. Definitely would recommend the smoking pig over this and for the cost we would have enjoyed the food alot more and wouldn't have missed the drinks. Service wasn't bad, guy was very nice. Over all 3/5 stars..

I got to the restaurant about 10 minutes after 8, it was pretty packed, I was seated right away. Hostess was very friendly, she told me my server will be right with me. I knew the restaurant was closing at 9, so I was going to order my food immediately eat and leave. This was not to be. The bus boy "Jason" comes, wet rag in hand, to my table and states "I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but we close at 9 so if you could just order your food to go." I didn't want to overburden Jason or suffer his wrath, plus If the staff doesn't want you there you don't want them handling your food. I wound up at five guys, so the food gets 5 stars. After I finished my meal, I swung by the restaurant because I saw bus boy Jason at the front podium greet station and I wanted to say hi and get his name. They promoted bus boy Jason to greeter while I was gone, service gets 1 star. I would avoid this place from 730pm on, and on days of the week that end with the letter y.

The best thing on my plate was the corn bread. It was on the sweeter side but I didn't mind it. The coleslaw was basic, like the kind you would get at Albertsons. On second thought, Albertsons might actually have more flavor. The potato wedges were ok, but they could have been seasoned Better. Last but not least, the ribs: they were not tender and kinda dry. I also think the ribs were pretty thin. None of the BBQ sauces helped either. I say your better off supporting your small neighborhood BBQ joint. I expected more from Dave's because I put their seasonings on everything but I guess I'll stick the seasonings.

I would say that the BBQ here is good but not quite as great as the one in Gilroy. For some reason the food at the bar takes much longer to get and I fell the bar staff just isn't quick to respond to your needs. Deals are great on happy hour and i enjoy their selection of beers but service is what's lacking most. (Edit) 12/17/23 The service and food quality has vastly inproved. I've come here a few times to catch a Warriors game and I and extrenely pleased by how attentive the bartenders were and how fresh amd quicm the food was. I've changed my original rating to 5 stars!!! Happu as a clam. Grear deals on bar food too!

Bottom line. Very friendly, highly understaffed. 4 in total during lunch time. And not very rurgent moving. Very slow for drinks for too many tables. Very slow for food arrival. You could visibly see it at the tables. Never came back for additional drinks. Very slow for check. Very salty for bbq. And I know bbq. Service itself killed this place for me. I am hoping this is a case of hard trying to find employees. But this was a one section only opened at 35 percent capacity. In all they should know better. Now it answers why I never see many cars outside.

Ordered the family platter 2 times and both times the beef brisket had so much fat on it we didn’t eat it.. over filled with fries.. so you will basically pay over $60 for 5 ribs that are just “okay” and 2 sides.. not worth the money. I’m almost positive they got new cooks or changed the recipe because the quality just isn’t there. My advice go to a different location or save yourself the time and money and just make your own food! Promise it will taste better Ps I emailed famous Dave’s based on their response & NEVER got a reply back. So even after a bad experience they won’t make things right. I’m taking my 2 star to a 1 star now.

This place was a great place to eat dinner! My friend and I got the Legendary Full Slab, and it was the best ribs I tasted in the Bay Area! You can enjoy a few sides that come along with it, and some cool barbecue sauces. The customer service was great in general, and the ambience was a mildly loud case. The bar, for that matter, was a slight bit more louder then the eat-in booths, but in general, I could stay here all day! The pricing....hmmm...let’s say it was a border-line. Maybe the full slab should be a little bit less.....well, I can say, the ribs are great in general so this place deserves its 5 stars for its signature ribs.

The rib tips were delicious, but the tri tip was very dry and wasn't a good size portion. This might be due to the fact that they serve all the meat on stale bread and it could be soaking the moisture out of the meat. The Mac and cheese unexpectedly had corn in it, which I found to be very strange, so that threw me off. We were sat at a table in the bar area and the server was very overwhelmed with people, so it was difficult to order anything when we wanted to.

BBQ is definitely hard to find. I actually discovered famous Dave’s when I was on a trip to Reno and wanted BBQ. Went online and Googled barbecue spots nearby and this one happened to pop up. Decided to go and check it out and I definitely wasn’t disappointed and then I learned that there was one closer to me where I actually live. My favorite thing is brisket and this one was delicious. The baked beans weren’t bad and the cornbread muffin was tasty. I also got a hot link which I was really glad it was semi-burnt because that’s how I enjoy the hot links. I would definitely come back to famous Dave’s.

As far as BBQ is concerned, there are better places around. Where they shine is the selection of sauces at every table: Wilbur's Revenge (XXX Hot), Devil's Spit, Rich and Sassy, Texas Pit and Georgia Mustard. Decor is cute and very much along the theme of a southern BBQ cabin. Lighting is dim though, and quite hard to read the menu or see what you're eating. A great place for large groups and parties (check out the "Famous Party Room"). It has a fireplace in the middle, and a huge bar. Overall a place to check out if you are nearby and craving BBQ, but not a destination restaurant for me.

My boyfriend and I came here. We enjoyed the atmosphere from the art on the walls to the music playing in the background. Our server Kaitlyn was amazing and so friendly. The food was great! We got bbq sandwiches. Flavor was amazing portions were great! We both got a bread pudding to share which my boyfriend said it was the best bread pudding he’s had! The staff was great and we would definitely come here again!

Place an order via doordash. Ordered 12 bones St. Louis style ribs, burnt ends, and bread pudding. And they weren’t kidding by burnt ends. It was burnt to a crisp, when it arrived it was all black and hard. Making it hard to chew as it seems to be over cooked. Ribs were hard to eat as well, they seem to not have been smoked for long enough. Banana pudding was ok. I would give it a 2 star if the food wasn’t cold when it came and the fact that the ice cream for the bread pudding was melted.

Great quantities for the price with decent meat quality. Would have got five stars if the quality has been a little bit better. they have a nice selection of sauce is on the table but there's a sauce from the back that's even better it came out with whatever my platter was and I just had to ask for an extra cup. There's Caesar side salad although it's $1.99 extra is huge for a side salad.

Recommend getting the Feast for two. Love the cornbread and a must-try would be the hot link, which is not spicy but flavorful ! Delicious barbecue sauce selection. Will get messy guaranteed !

Every time we come to dine the staff is super friendly and the food is amazing! Famous Brandon came to our table and asked how our meal was. Even though our waitress Kaitlin was busy her and Mike the hostess would come and check in on us to make sure the food was good. The drinks are great and if you come during a game they have them on the screen.

We were seated right away. We come here for the ribs and brisket. It’s the best brisket we’ve had! The waiter was attentive and very friendly and it was easy to get service when we needed something. Great food and super friendly!

Sides are decent. Meat is yummy. Just what you’d expect. There was a 15 min wait this Sunday so we went over to Tapioca and get some snow bubble. It was hot af and just what we needed. My son and came here today to have a nice dinner but it came to disappointing meal. We order 2 pcs meat, i had a roasted chicken and prime rib.. chicken is half way cook i ask the lady if the looks cook she said. The chicken is smoke so it's supposed to be like that.. I don’t know what people are on about but this food was gross. Probably the worst barbecue I’ve ever had. The burnt ends were just overcooked brisket squares covered in gross sauce. Not even burnt. Everything ordered was below average in quality for the highest prices.

I enjoy this place. The food is good and they're open later than any other BBQ place that I know of. They have a variety of sauces to choose from and I have yet to have anything I disliked. I even liked their chicken and I don't even like chicken in the first place.

Although they seemed a bit understaffed initially, the crew was able to handle the (late) lunch crowd with ease. Our order came out quickly and tasted fresh. Prices and portions were good. We'll be back.

This is a chain, but don't let than put you off. The food is very good and the drinks are nice and big. I love their brisket (super moist and tender) and their BBQ chicken is also excellent. My favorite sides are the coleslaw and the baked beans.

Great atmosphere and service. Staff was very accommodating even to our large party.

Burnt ends are awesome! The only downfall yo the place is it’s location. Homeless engulfed ghetto parking lot where people fight over parking spots…. The Plant unfortunately could use a cleanup, the vibe of the parking lot for some reason
