"One of the best animal experiences in Sydney"
Lived in Sydney pretty much all my life and never visited this place until now. The park is abit dated and old but still functions well, you can expect to complete the whole thing in about an hour but around 90 minutes you can do it comfortably and enjoy the little critters. There is plenty of Aussie wildlife to see and learn about, you can pretty much feed all the wallabies and kangaroo's and get pretty close to nearly everything. The variety of birds is great and the animals are well looked after. Featherdale makes a mint on the exploitation of the cute cuddly koala's charging $30 a pop for people to have their photo taken standing next to them, when the line opens, tourists just magically appear from nowhere and you can expect a 1 hour queue easily and whilst waiting expect to hear high pitched girly voices every 10-15 seconds repeating the same words over and over, "hoooooow cuuuuuuteee" "its soooooo fluuffyyyyyyyy" "omg I want to touch it" Apart from that, there is only 1 more travesty left to experience, as with every other tourist trap in Australia, you are greeted by the souveneir shop, Featherdale most probably boasts the most out dated souveneir shop in Australia, everything on offer is made in China, can be bought elsewhere much cheaper and its all your standard fridge magnets/key chains/postcards and ofcourse jumpers with massive fluffy koala ears, if you want to look like a tourist there is no better place, an extra bonus point for those that are nostalgic, and you feel like you want to warp back in time to a 80s experience, this is the place to be. Over all, Featherdale is a great experience but not something you want to rush back to do again.

Loved all the animals here !! Didn’t see any wombats though (my fav) maybe because it was really hot when I went and a lot of the animals were hiding in the shade. There was a bird who spread his wings for us when we approached which was so cute !! It also wasn’t very crowded even though we went on a Saturday afternoon. The place is big enough that you can go explore on your own without people trailing after you. Lots of very interesting birds and friendly animals some of which aren’t even enclosed so you can get very close to them and pet them. However, there was an older woman who was hounding us in the gift shop when we went to go look at things before we entered the wildlife park. She kept saying we can’t enter the park through the gift shop even though we weren’t and didn’t even know it was connected. We just wanted to look at some merch to see if we should buy anything before we entered. But she kept saying the same things when we were just looking so we just left because she made things very uncomfortable and just went back to look after we finished exploring the park. Definitely not complaining about her but she could have been friendlier and more understanding of the younger generation. Still 5 stars though because the animals were so cute and seemed to be treated very well there .

My recent visit to Featherdale Wildlife Zoo was an absolute delight, exceeding all expectations and earning a well-deserved five-star rating. This wildlife sanctuary provided a truly immersive and unforgettable experience. Feather dale Wildlife Zoo boasts an impressive range of Australian animals, giving visitors a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the country's most fascinating creatures. From kangaroos and koalas to crocodiles and Tasmanian devils, the diversity of wildlife at Featherdale is truly remarkable. The enclosures at Featherdale were thoughtfully designed, allowing the animals to thrive in naturalistic environments. It was heartwarming to witness the excellent care provided to each animal, and it was evident that their welfare was of utmost importance. The highlight of my visit was the opportunity to encounter and interact with some of the animals firsthand. Feeding the kangaroos was an incredible experience. The chance to have a close encounter with native reptiles left me with unforgettable memories. Featherdale Wildlife Zoo also prioritizes visitor comfort and enjoyment. The layout of the zoo was well-planned, with clear signage and ample seating areas. Clean facilities and well-maintained paths added to the overall positive experience.

Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park is a delightful destination for animal lovers of all ages, offering an up-close and personal experience with Australia's unique wildlife. Located in the suburbs of Sydney, this park provides an intimate setting that larger zoos often lack, making your interaction with the animals more engaging and memorable. One of the highlights of Featherdale is the wide range of native Australian species on display. From cuddly koalas and hopping kangaroos to elusive wombats and vibrant parrots, the variety is impressive. The park places a strong emphasis on conservation and education, featuring informative signage and knowledgeable keepers who are eager to share insights about the animals. Children are sure to enjoy the petting zoo area, where they can feed and interact with farm animals. There's also a well-stocked gift shop that offers a range of souvenirs to take home. However, while Featherdale offers great experiences, it can get crowded, particularly on weekends and holidays. This sometimes limits the quality of animal interactions. Additionally, the café on-site is somewhat basic, so you might want to plan meals elsewhere if looking for more extensive options. Overall, Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park offers an enriching day out, blending entertainment and education in a way that appeals to visitors young and old.
One of the best animal experiences in Sydney. I've been to most of their zoos where a majority of the animals look sad or unhappy, sitting in a remote corner where they can't see visitors staring at them. I totally get it. Here, the incentive might be food, but they have a mix of experience from just walking through, feeding the kangaroo which is well worth the experience. Or photos with koala, quokka, etc. Make sure to do some learning about the birds of Australia before you arrive so you and your kids can appreciate more than half the wildlife are birds. The kangaroo are a highlight (to a lesser extent the farm animals they also have). They are tame, familiar with people, and basically expect to be fed. Their curiosity brings the big ones right up to you sniffing. This gives an amazing experience for the kids and adults, including photo-ops. If they get annoyed, there are large blocked off areas for animals only. So as long as they're comfortable, they'll be there next to you. The gift shop focuses mostly on the animals they have in the park--including the big wombat (one of my favorites). The prices are less inflated than zoos, although their selection is smaller. Still, its also a good place to pick up plushies of native wildlife.

Not the best experience and very expensive ($40). There's not a lot to see, and what there is to see is behind layers of wired cages. Any photos you see that people took, it's almost certainly when their camera is positioned between the holes in the wire cages. Most of the animals are very far from view, and the only ones you can interact with are goats. There was one wombat and one kangaroo that was accessible, and people were so starving for entertainment, that everyone was gathered around it trying to feed it and touch it. I came here 14 years ago, and it was so fun. They had so many kangaroos walking around that you could walk right up to and feed, a huge tortoise eating carrots, dingo pups... everything seemed so accessible. But now it's seems like everything is super protected and very limited. A bird sleeping in a tree about 6 metres away from you and up high - yawn. My advice is... go nuts on wombats and kangaroos and flood the place with them. Let's face it, that's really what we want to see... they are entirely an Australian thing and fun to interact with.

I’ve visited this place a few times now and have an annual membership and I always love visiting. The pelican feeding at 11am is always a treat to watch. My favourite animals to make sure I see each visit is one of their galahs who says “scratch scratch” and “whatchyou doing” while it bobs it’s head up and down and a gentle giant hen who always escapes the barnyard sea and free ranges all day long. There are two black cockatoos that always fly to their aviary fence to come say hi and demand scratches on their feet and head. Featherdale’s extensive range of native birds is absolutely incredible. I’m fortunate to live nearby and visit often as I can. It never gets boring. The staff that work there are always friendly and happy to answer your questions. The cafe also does the best hot chips (aka fries)

May 2023 Google notification asked me if the park has changed. Yes, prices are even higher than what I was complaining about a few years ago. Even the koala encounter picture price is to $30 AUD. With such high entry prices, this encounter picture should be free of cost. Other than that, we love meeting our Aussie animals and birds. Previous review It was good to visit the park after 4 years I think. We used to take our guests there as it wasn't that expensive but now the prices r up and you have to pay extra if u want to feed the animals. Encounter with animals is another add on thing on your wallet. The koala sanctuary used to be free but now if u want to cuddle a koala or feed eucalyptus leaveas and have a pic taken, it's another $25 per person. Prices need to be reconsidered.
Went there with my partner for a date a while ago. A small zoo in western Sydney, it has a variety of animals such as koalas, kangaroos, small and large birds and reptiles. Suitable for families, they have a feeding enclosure to feed the wallabies, paid opportunity to take your photos with a koala and educational sessions by the zoo keepers. They have a small canteen and seating area to have lunch, and a little souvenir shop to buy a keepsake. We went on a sunny day so pop on some sunscreen and a hat as there is not too much shaded area throughout. But your tickets online prior to skip the queue and save a couple bucks!

Absolutely loved my visit to Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park! The variety of animals was incredible, and the park's commitment to conservation and education really shines through. I was thrilled to get up close and personal with kangaroos, koalas, and even some adorable wallabies. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience even more enjoyable. The park's clean and well-maintained facilities made the visit comfortable, and I appreciate the efforts they put into creating a safe and enriching environment for the animals. I can't wait to come back and explore more of this wonderful wildlife haven! #FeatherdaleWildlifePark #AmazingExperience
So many animals in zoo! Had really amazing experience today! There were some negative opinions about this zoo cuz this one is very small and only few things to see. However, I think some advantages are here. Firstly, kid-friendly. We can feed animals like Kangaroo and Wallaby easily and can communicate(?) well. Just not to see, just to feel that we are in a farm. Secondly, it is not cost-efficiency, we also can take photo with Koala. (It is like the product from factory without emotion) Lastly, Easy-access. unlike Symbio zoo, we can visit here easily by public transportation.

We go to Featherdale at least once a year, we usually take advantage of the Australia Day special. The line to get in moved quickly, you get a map of the place and can make your way around whichever direction you want once inside. Food is decent but we always take some of our own too to keep the kids happy as they're walking around. Plenty of animals to see, the main ones are always a fav of everyone plus us adults always love checking out the many different types of birds, we still learn about a new one or two each time we go.

This is one of my FAVOURITE places in Sydney. I am so lucky to live locally. The animals are well cared for and the opportunities to get involved with some of the animals is amazing. It is not a huge park which works well for me and the kids. The layout is nice and easy to get around and you can be sure that you will not miss anything as you walk around. I brought my 18 month old son for the first time and he was over the moon. The animals are great with smaller children and were very gentle when feeding out of my sons feeding cup. I highly recommend visiting Featherdale if you ever get the chance to do so.
Such a wonderful day out for the whole family,we relived some wonderful childhood memories whilst creating new ones with our grandchildren Highly recommended for a beautiful day out and to witness big smiles on the kids faces seeing them being able to get up close with some cute Australian Animals • Plenty of parking available • Accessible for wheelchair etc • Cafe available • Gift shop • Plenty of animals to see roaming around as well as getting the opportunity to feed them Kids loved it ⭐️

One of a kind. A real Aussie zoo! I have visited 3 other zoo's in Sydney but this was the best. Made me and family, visiting from overseas, so happy. The koalas everywhere! Kangaroos galore! Both them and their little cousins the wallabies. Kookaburras, ostriches, dingos and the Tasmanian devil that was hiding from us all day...but I'll come back for you mate! Oh the wombats and little penguins! You could feel animals were feeling happy in their environment. Thank you Featherdale Aussie zoo!

It was a very fun experience for the whole family. In comparison to the wide range of zoos available in Sydney, this one is the most interactive one I have been to. Kids played with a lot of animals and got to feed them, costs 3 dollars a cup of animal food. You can feed kangaroos and wallabies, as well as farm animals. Wide range of birds as well. Recommend it for families and friends who are looking for not only watching animals, but also interacting with them.

It's my 2nd visit, 2010, and recently. A great range of Australian wildlife to encounter, and if you can get there on opening time, you have a better chance to feed the wallabies and as they are hungry, otherwise when fed they will avoid you and you don't get their attention. Photos are taken without paying the hefty price for the encounter with Quokkas, unless you really want a closer encounter. It was an awesome experience overall!

Delightful local animal park destination for the family. It is not very big but just perfect for like half day activity that doesn't exhaust you while leaving the rest of the day for other nearby tourist attractions like the blue mountains. The best bit about this place, is the many interaction opportunities with the friendly animal residents. I also like some of the enclosure settings that used some typical Aussie outback items, like tin shacks, oil drums , boat wrecks and so on to create a truly Aussie experience.
The animals are well cared for but due to past misadventures most are injured and as a result most of the animals are quite sad. I get the feeling that the animals feel like seniors in a nursing home; while they have lots of care they are unable to take care of themselves. The goats and other farm animals are quite happy indicating that the zoo keepers aren't bad; it just makes me sad to look at all the injured animals. ☹️

Visited from 1.45pm to 4.15pm. It is definitely possible to explore the whole area in 2.5hrs! We even went back to the kangaroo and farmyard sanctuary again bc the animals were so adorable. Definitely enjoyed the farmyard sanctuary. It was one of the greatest decision to forgo tarongo/sydney zoo for this as we got to come in close contact/proximity to the animals. They were either just a glass away or a metal fence away! Recommend this for everybody who are seeking to visit Aussie’s animals.
Loved coming here. The kangaroos and wallabies aren’t caged so you can pet and feed them up close. There’s a bunch of koalas around the park for you to encounter and many birds and owls are around too. There’s much more to see as well. A cafe is present and facilities are located around the park for ease. It’s best to visit around 11am when most of the animals start to come out. Fantastic experience!

Nice park with all the Australian animals you can think of. Really nice keepers with a lot of knowledge. A real nice opportunity to get up and close with the beautiful wildlife of Australia. Can especially recommend the Wombat Encounter. The park could do with a small renovation of some of the buildings and paths, and some more keepers to watch over the people feeding the kangaroos.

As a typical traveler, visitng this place is somewhat difficult due to transportation matter; so, majority of visitors usually stay in Sydney city. However, I have been searched several travel agencies, as a result, I could visit there. Taking photos with Koala, feeding kangaroo must be a really exotic and special experience for my son. If you are a father, I recommend you that it is a must see place for your kids.

Third time here and this time we bought annual pass. It is comparatively small but so so so many birds and mammals. Wombats and koalas are in several areas, and they are just that up close (you can reach them if youvdare). Highly recommended for family with kids. If driving to the west is an option for you (it is in Blacktown), Featherdale wildlife park is the zoo you MUST try!

One of my favorite places to visit whenever I’m in Sydney with my family, especially when there are children around. You can take a picture with Koalas, and you can also roam inside the kangaroo habitats. Plenty of friendly animals to pet and feed. The zoo is also accessible by bus (the bus stop is right in front of the zoo), and has plenty of parking for people who drive.

I wasn’t sure what to expect but this place was just incredible. The team take fantastic care of the animals. I’ve lived in Australia 40 years and been to many zoos and wildlife parks, and I’ve never seen such relaxed, happy, healthy creatures out enjoying themselves. Thanks for doing such a great job of taking care of them. Cover charge and any costs are very well worth it to pay for the animal care.

Great place to see animals endemic to Australia and some roam free. There are opportunities to feed Kangaroos and take pictures with Koala's which is the main attraction. It rained while we were there so didn't really get a chance to truly experience the park. I recommend more for families with young children vs. adults (unless you really love Koalas, then it's a must).

We do not like giving low ratings, but the gate of kangaroos petting farm had been locked up, from the time we arrived (3pm) until they closed at 5pm. This was the sole reason why, we paid the entry & kangaroo feeds for :( Besides, many animals also look depressed & weary, even there were only like 15 visitors at that time, out of an ordinary weekday.

Busy but good.. you used to be able to take photos with the koalas as part of the entrance, now they charge extra and won't allow you to take a slightly different photo without charging double.. so a tad disappointing that they just keep milking as much money as possible. Love the Aussie wildlife, they look well fed and healthy. The birds look a bit sad to be stuck in the cages but also healthy and well. The staff were friendly and helpful
We had a great visit with four young children. I thought the park was looking the best I’ve seen it from several visits over the years. Great plants as well as all the animals and birds. Our one year old grandchild learnt to say ‘snake’. One small comment. It would be good to have some water bubblers to drink from or fill water bottles. I didn’t see any.

Loved our visit! Staff were all nice and we enjoyed learning about the animals. Got to pat the koalas , feed kangaroos , and hold a baby croc ! If you want to get close and learn about Australian native wildlife I highly recommend. Would recommend if you want the encounters to buy tickets in advance. Also, this is great stop on the way to blue mountains if you’re heading that direction to check off tourist attractions.
Amazing place! Get to hand feed quokkas, kangaroos, and other animals (except some birds) the goats are savages tho! one of them just came straight to me and my partner and it followed us around for more of the food even the other goats came running to us best experiences ever! This was such a lovely, local wildlife reserve. There were plenty of interactive areas with wallabies and kangaroos and farmyard animals, and lots of Australian wildlife in beautifully designed and clean enclosures. We also added extra for a nice picture with a sleeping koala called Byron. Our kids had so much fun here and our little one was very excited running around chattering to the animals with food cup in hand!
Cute little family get-away. Found parking easily, which was nice. The park was smaller than I thought. Was cute that the wallbies could roam freely, koalas were adorable, but was disappointed that you couldn't walk into any enclosure and that all birds were cooped up. Worth it if you wanted a short day trip. Animal feed was expensive and the kangaroos were too full. The billy goats were incredibly cute.
We had fun going here. It's not a huge wildlife sanctuary compare to others, which is good for those who don't want to get tired walking. The best part was our close encounter with the kangaroos and koalas! You will be able to feed the kangaroos and touch them as long as you want. Except for the koalas, you need to pay extra fee to touch them... but you will be able to see them up close too.
Here you will see lots of animals native to Australia. It was a great experience for us, being able to get up close and hand feed many of them. We went as part of an organised trip and feel as such, didn't get as much time there as we would have liked. It's worth a visit as a half day trip by itself.

It is not a big park but it has many animals, in particular I saw kangaroos, koalas, many birds, crocodiles, among others. I fell in love with a beautiful soft-colored bird and we had a beautiful conversation, he knows how to say Hello and he is very affectionate. You can feed only the kangaroos and the food costs 3 dollars. The park is nice but the cages are small, that's very sad.
I came here with my little one on a rainy day and we had so much fun. Many animals to see and touch i like how its a maze and is well maintained they have a cafe and gift shop friendly staff members. definitely worth a visit if you want to get the kids off your hair the only thing is that the parking lot is small but street parking available.

If you have kids, you can't live in Sydney without paying this place a visit! Great range of native Australian animals that are well cared for. Lots to see. I do recommend you bring your own lunch to enjoy during the day plus lots of water too. I'm wondering if we walked into the snakes having a romp as their giggling around made them seem as though they were.
Not so much far from Parramatta city. This zoo not so big (a little small as I feel). But you can interact with the kangaroos, the koala and the animal here. Not so much diversity of animal but overall ok, not so bad. Dont need to buy online tickets, student can have discount

Just love Featherdale. Been going there since I was a kid and it's still just as special to learn about iconic Australian wildlife. Love the work they do!

For one, you can collect stamps here! For two, that's a serious lot of birds! Among them many are rarely seen in any other zoo in Sydney. I wish the website could say more about it. Definitely give it a go if you are a bird lover. Apart
What a beautiful place to be at. I am so happy I got to come here and visit this beautiful wildlife park. I got to see Kangaroos big and small ones and was able to feed them. They were so friendly! I got to see the Koala which they were

Have visited this location in 2012. It was a pleasant experience. I will certainly visit it again. The staff is very friendly and any questions asked about the wildlife in their care was at my satisfaction. It's always great to see the
It's not a huge place but you get to see all the animals unique to Australia and you also get a pretty close up encounter (especially with Kangaroos)

This park is excellent. There's a lot to see in a relatively small, very accessible space. The animals look really healthy and are often visible and busy. There's plenty of shade and lots of places to sit.

Went with a tour group and we enjoyed feeding the kangaroos and wallabies, plus getting a photo with a koala. Wish we had more time there.

Must see! Spend good part of the day here. Come nice and early so animals are still interested in the food you can give them. Also when you run out check the ‘return spots’ for the cups as some leave feed in there. More
It's a great wildlife park. Well maintained. There are plenty of native Australian animals. Most of them have a fairly big space to roam around and animals seem to be well looked after. It's an enjoyable experience.
We had a great time. Certainly family friendly and safe enough for our 18 month old to run around and explore. You also get the opportunity to feed kangaroos and to touch them. Lots to see. Would recommend.
Fantastic place to visit. Cannot recommend it enough. Interaction with some of the animals was priceless. Highly recommend getting a pic with a koala and buying animal food there to feed the animals.
The cutest animals in the world! So visitor friendly place. Nice receptionist, cafe staff, and animal caregivers.

This place was incredible, we got to be close to different Australian animals, pet and feed them. It was so much fun. Recommend to add this as a stop if going to a visit to Blue Mountain.
Great place to get up and personal with the animals, incl koala and kangaroos. Staff are polite and professional. If you want to feed the kangaroos, go early as it dose get busy quickly.
