I am confused about how this place has such rave reviews. I came here with a party of 6 on Saturday night. The place was operating at half capacity due to covid restrictions. Even at half capacity, it wasn’t full. First of all, I like how you can call the restaurant number and get the manager directly even outside of restaurant hours. He isn’t the friendliest person to talk to though. I also like how you can text the number to communicate with the manager. He was very quick and helpful when responding. We had reservations and were seated immediately upon arrival. We ordered drinks first thing and it took no less than 10 minutes to receive them. I ordered a simple lemonade from the fountain. When it came time to order food, the waitress reviewed the “specials” and most of us were sold on them immediately. I chose the Chilean Sea Bass special served with fried artichokes, spaghetti squash and asparagus. I asked the waitress to hold the asparagus since I don’t like it. She told me that I can’t sub it since they are “short staffed due to covid”. Interestingly, one of my friends was able to add a whole chicken breast to his pasta which only came with shrimp according to the menu. (This is important: my friends ordered a side of Alfredo sauce when we placed our food order.) My plate arrived with asparagus anyway. Not a major deal since I could just not eat it. My food was room temperature at best which was confusing because a they acted like I would burn myself if I touched the plate. And the food took so long to come out - it should have been piping hot. Slow service was the theme for the evening. Back to the food. The fish was cooked nicely and tasted pretty good. The fried artichokes tasted oil-soaked. The spaghetti squash was tasteless and this is usually something I enjoy. I asked the waitress for a side of Alfredo sauce to help the squash. Remember that side of sauce that my friends ordered? They hadn’t received it yet and by now, we’ve had the food for at least 5 minutes . The waitress said the sauce was cooked to order - at least theirs should have been ready since they ordered it when we placed the food order. So at least 10 more minutes after we received the food, all three orders of sauce came out. We were nearly done with our food by the time it arrived. I’m no master chef, but I do make Alfredo sauce from scratch pretty regularly at home. This sauce was basically a bowl of cream with melted butter and powdered Parmesan cheese dumped on top. Not what I expected from an authentic Italian restaurant. Definitely not how I make mine. We all finished our food and agreed that it was decent, but not worth returning for. It took what seemed like an eternity to receive the bill and everyone at the table was shocked at the price tag. The “special” was $38. Now I didn’t expect anything cheap based on other menu items, but nothing on the menu was over $25. I did not receive a $38 sized piece of fish nor was the flavor of anything on my dish worth that. The drinks were all on the wrong tickets but we just decided to pay and reimburse each other later as needed because we figured it might take another 30 minutes to get the tickets sorted. It seemed as though there was only one waitress servicing the entire restaurant. Another issue I had, automatic 20% gratuity was included. Most restaurants I visit do this for parties of 8 or more and they provide you this in a disclaimer up front. There are other authentic Italian spots in town with great service and delicious food. Luce comes to mind.. I wish i had noticed before visiting that most of the one and two star reviews are within the past two years. Of course those weren’t showing near the top. By
Definitely a date-night sort of place for the prices. There is a very distinct smell when you walk in though, that I wasn't able to ever quite place. It wasn't pleasant, and I felt like an Italian restaurant should smell more like garlic and basil and tomatoes than...whatever that smell is. So for me that was an immediate ding. Service was friendly and very polite, but staff seemed a little disorganized or like too many people working in too small a space. We were seated at a booth-backed table facing the kitchen doors and bar where all the water pitchers sit, so not quite the ambiance one might hope for. It also seemed to be the preferred place for staff to chat as they were drying glasses, making drinks or just in between tasks. Food was hit or miss. They serve fresh bread cubes with homemade pesto with your meal, which was very good. They also served us a sorbet in-between our appetizer and main course for a pallet cleanser which was a nice touch. We were there for Restaurant Week, so there were a couple items not on their normal menu. We ordered the Burrata and the Beet Salad appetizers. The beet salad had no layered flavor at all in spite of the accompaniments. It just tasted like beets with a hint of flavor/salt from the cheese. The Burrata paired with the meat and arugula with balsamic was much better. I would recommend that one. For our main dishes, we ordered the Monk fish with mashed potatoes and asparagus which was fine, but again, nothing special (although it's worth noting that the tiny scallops were cooked perfectly), and the Ribeye which came with truffle fries and arugula salad. I have to say, the steak was big (about 5-6 inches in length and about 4 inches wide) but easily the thinnest ribeye I have ever seen; it was maybe 1-inch thick *before* cooking. I ordered it medium, but what I got was almost well-done. Our server offered to have them redo it, which I accepted, and she took the steak back on an appetizer plate while I ate the arugula and "truffle" fries, which for us had no noticeable truffle flavor. A few minutes later, she came back by and I asked if it would be possible to get a little more truffle oil for the fries. She turned to another girl who had just walked up with a whole plate of the ribeye and sides, and said something in Spanish to her (none of the staff spoke English to each other that we heard the entire time we were there; hearing all the staff speaking Spanish in an Italian restaurant is a little comical), and the girl took the plate back in the kitchen. A few minutes later, a different person came out with that whole plate I'd seen before (ribeye and sides) and set it down, taking my old plate. Major kudos for offering a whole new plate and sides! But when I said I wanted more truffle oil, I had meant for the fries on my old plate. The new fries (that I didn't realize I was getting) had been "double sauced" and were literally glistening with the truffle oil. I said thank you and we chuckled that we could dip our remaining bread in my fries now. I will say they were good though, and you could actually smell/taste the truffle oil that time. The new steak was a medium, so kudos on that too. Soon thereafter we moved on to our desserts. We got the Tiramisu which was very good, and the Panna Cotta which was more like thin pudding in consistency. Panna Cotta should be able to stand on its own like flan. This one could not, and was served in a ice-cream sundae glass. It was very tasty...but not a true Panna Cotta. All said and done, it was good, but neither of us felt it was worth revisiting.
BUCKLE IN, THIS IS A LONG ONE My husband and I made reservations at Fiamma for Charlotte Restaurant Week. We previewed the menu online and were so excited to find fresh, authentic Italian food. We even booked our reservation weeks in advance because we were so excited. However, when we arrived our table wasn’t ready. This wasn’t a huge deal, but the hostess didn’t seem in a hurry to remedy the situation. Instead, she chatted at the hostess stand. It wasn’t until a waitress came up to us and asked if we had been helped that she cleared off a table for us to sit at. To be clear, no one was sitting at the table she cleared off, the hostess just completely ignored us. When we sat down, our busser (who was extremely kind and helpful) brought us fresh bread and water. We looked over the menu and were happily chatting about what we wanted to order. The fresh bread was amazing, as well as the pesto they brought with it. We talked about the fact that if the bread and pesto were this good, then we were in for a real treat. Unfortunately, This is where the night took a turn for the worse. After around 15 or so minutes, we flagged the boy who brought us bread and water, assuming he was our waiter. He said that he wasn’t the waiter and when we explained that we had been waiting for a while and our server hadn’t been over, he profusely apologized and said he would send her over. A short while later a woman came to our table and offered no apology, no kindness, and offered to take our order. We were going to order a bottle of wine, but she seemed in a hurry, so we gave her our menu choices. That is the last we saw of her for over 30 minutes. While we watched the tables around us arrive with food, our waitress was at the hostess stand, chatting. She not only had not bothered to check on us, but she either forgot about us or simply didn’t care. After being at the restaurant for 45 minutes with nothing but water and bread, we decided to call a manager over. Turns out, our waitress WAS the manager. I told her that in the 30-35 minutes we were seated we saw her ONCE and had been waiting over half an hour for the appetizers. They were cold appetizers, so I was curious what was taking so long. She offered no apology and said that she could “check on it for us.” I said that it this point, we were going to cut our losses and go somewhere else. She said “Well, I can personally ensure you receive your food.” I was absolutely appalled that her idea of addressing our concerns with her inattentiveness was to offer to do the bare minimum requirements of her job. We said “No, thank you” and left. We ended up going next door to Inizio Pizza for their absolutely fabulous pistachio pesto pizza. The sad thing is, their food could have been amazing, but we never even tasted it. I understand that the busy time of Restaurant Week can result in unforeseen complications that can hinder prompt service. I want to be clear that our issue was NOT the amount of time, but the fact that our waitress/manager rushed to take our order and then disappeared to chat with her friends at the hostess stand. My husband and I go to Luce regularly and were expecting something similar customer service wise. We were sorely disappointed and cannot in good faith recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We were seated at 6pm, and immediately placed our appetizer order because we knew the restaurant would be slammed. Our waitress rushed through the intro and specials of the evening. The menu on Fiamma's website does not match up with the menu in restaurant. We had our hopes high for a beef Wellington (which was on the website, but not on the menu). Our beef carpaccio appetizer arrived at 6:10pm (and was brought over by someone who was not our waitress, which is normal). Our waitress arrived at 6:25pm to take our drink and entree orders. Around 6:35pm, we received a sorbet (as a palate cleanser). One of the two entrees arrived at 6:45pm, with 0 drinks. The second entree arrived at 6:50pm. Then, after that, we got our drinks. Not once did a manager come over and check on us. Nor did anyone ever apologize for the long wait times and screw up with our drinks. Another two-top (right behind us, but different waiter) who was seated at 6:15pm received their entree orders before we even received our drink order. I ordered salccicia with my ravioli special, but it came on a separate plate with only 4 pieces, and cost another $7 (charged the same price as shrimp). The ravioli had some sauce, but not enough. (My boyfriend and/or I have been to excellent Italian restaurants in the U.S. (Chicago, L.A., New York, and more), and in Italy (Rome, Venice, Florence, etc.), so we were definitely not asking for an Americanized Italian meal.) My boyfriend had the stuffed veal chop, which he received, but also there was a huge lamb chop on there, too. We were so confused. We got our check, and my drink was not charged. (Don't know if that was intentional or not.) We tried to flag our waitress down, but couldn't find her after 6-7 minutes of waiting. We tipped and left. Sad Valentine's Day dinner. Would not return. We really wanted to like Fiamma, but sadly, this will no longer be on our list.

I am not sure how this restaurant has any positive reviews. I went to Fiamma for dinner last night with a party of 10 people. I have never in my life had a more terrible and just absurd experience at a restaurant. The service was absolutely horrible. I understand restaurants are possibly understaffed now, but the restaurant was more than half empty so there was not an issue of the staff being overwhelmed or too busy. We were at dinner for 3 solid hours and not by choice. Our server seemed to be in no rush and completely unaware of the fact he was responsible for serving our table. He was folding silverware and setting up tables for the next day instead of taking our order, refilling our drinks, etc. We were seated for over 30 minutes before we even had our drink order taken. After I finished my cocktail, I was never asked if I wanted another one during the next 2 hours. The manager was more concerned with enforcing the mask mandate and taking temperatures than with helping his struggling server. We got there at 7pm and did not get our food until after 9pm. I finally got up and asked the manager to help us with drink refills, service, etc. after watching him sit at the bar and play on his phone for an extended period of time. He was terribly rude at this time. Aside from the service, all of the food was incredibly bland and not at all worth the price. I would have enjoyed Olive Garden 10 times more than this. I literally did not eat my food because it was so awful. The cocktails were terrible, food was terrible, service was like nothing I've ever experienced. Not to mention they were completely out of beer, merlot, and quite a few other items. There was no apology or even acknowledgement of any of these issues. For the sake of your time and money, do not go to Fiamma. Go to Portofino's, Intermezzo, Zio's, or Mama Ricottas. Those places will give you the quality and attention a paying customer deserves.
We had other plans to go somewhere in Kingsley which seems to be booming :),,, at any rate a friend did recommend it and boy did it NOT deliver! Could be bad luck, but despite manager trying hard to do some damage control! He was polite and server Enzo was a very nice guy, but plastic lid cover in my wife’s plate wasn’t a good start, then very delayed main course and stayed that kids and most of family finished their plates before I even got mine! Chicken parmigiana was ordered off menu per a friend recommendation, and was told best in town! But it’s actually the worst I have ever tasted due to oil used 100+ times? And to my total surprise manager admitted it politely that they change oils every couple of days! Cancer?!!! They didn’t charge us for it and actually went above and beyond with 4 free desserts but I DIDN’T eat and we paid 160$ for the worst evening in a restaurant in years! Politeness alone doesn’t do it!! And make no mistake! Even they haven’t charged us at all I would have rated y’all the same! This was our ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND and you simply ruined our evening! My wife was disgusted by the whole experience! It’s a shame, because it’s got the feeling of a little Authentic Restaurant we’ve experienced in Italy years ago! But not the food to back it up!!!! Or the hygiene!! The Young Truly Polite Manager said “We are very strict about COVID-19” and insisted that our 5 yo put her mask on from entrance to the table a few feet away from it :) but didn’t care to check no plastic lids in plates or to change oil every few hours!!!!
We made last minute New Year’s Eve dinner reservations for 8pm in the back dining area. We arrived 15 minutes early and were seated very promptly. The staff was very professional and accommodating to explain the daily specials in great details. The lighting was very dim, but the overall ambiance of the restaurant was welcoming and inviting. The food was lip smacking, unapologetically amazing. I’m pescatarian, but I wanted to do something different for the upcoming NewYear so I ordered the lamb chops dinner. If you ever had lamb chops before in Europe then you know they were damn good!!!! Oh, the truffled mash potatoes is a meal by itself and well worth going back for. Meanwhile, my husband had black linguine with shrimp and it was fantastic too. The complimentary bread and olive oil blend was great too. The only thing that was odd about our overall experience was I needed to use the restroom before we left and there was only one stall in the women’s restroom. I came back out because there was a lady that went in before me. Upon coming out there was two gentlemen that was complaining about the same issue with their only being one stall in the mens restroom. I’m sorry the pics are so dark, but the lighting was very dim inside the restaurant. Great Food & Great Service. Go check them out for yourself and thank me later.

We were in Charlotte on vacation. We clearly have to rely on reviews and photos to choose restaurants. We booked on Resy for the first time to make a reservation because it was not offered on Open Table. I was shocked that we had to pay $20 to reserve for a party of 6, which is apparently considered large. Well no wonder they nickel and dime you! The place is NASTY. We took an Uber from our hotel and arrived at a basic strip mall just outside the city. This restaurant has a residential door with no windows to see inside. Very "under-construction" vibe. We arrived at 6:30 pm (we have younger children) and the dining room was empty. Still we were seated in an awkward corner of the empty room. The table was sticky. The waiter handed us dirty menus. There was a rancid smell. We were waiting for my cousin and her husband to arrive (they were excited to try a new place in their town too!) My husband looked at me and said he wanted to leave. I did not blame him. There was no music, just awkwardness. So we chose to leave. CAN YOU BELIEVE THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD A $120 CANCELLATION FEE Unbelievable! I have contacted my credit card company for reimbursement. Resy did nothing - I will stick to Open Table from now on. The reviews are fantastic, I expected a high end experience not a third world country experience. The pictures on google look nothing like this place looked in December 2022.
Wonderful Italian fare, but representative of all parts of Italy, not just pasta! Fish and shellfish specials are creative and week done. Calamari app was delicious and Gluten free pasta took a little longer to prepare but was good. One member of our party found a foreign object in his pasta, which was obviously concerning! Waitess offered to prepare a replacement entree, which we declined, since most of the meal had been consumed already. She then removed it from the bill. Black pasta with shellfish was especially good, as was the butterflied fresh fish. Desserts were memorable. The creme brulee was the best I've ever tasted (and I've tasted many!) and I'll return to Fiamma if only to have that delicately flavored panna Cotta once more! Service was extremely good. They use a genuine team approach and the coordination is like a piece of performance art. Even the reservations people were great... They helped us pull off a complicated birthday surprise. The only disappointment was that no one seems to read the "special requests" section of the "contact us" portion of the website. After two attempts to get info to the restaurant via that method, then leaving a phone message, the manager called and asked me to email him directly with my request. Make reservations. On both of my recent weeknight visits there's been an out-the-door line of people waiting for a table.
Did not have a great experience on a Saturday night. Made a reservation earlier in the day for 8:30 PM. I thought it was for 8:15 so we showed up a little early. No biggie, we didn’t mind waiting. While we waited we saw 3 different parties leave (two parties of two and a party of three), and still weren’t seated at 8:30. Come 8:40 PM, I stopped a waiter to ask if we were going to be seated anytime soon for our 8:30 reservation and we were finally seated. The host left the area at 8:20 PM and did not help get us seated and disappeared for the night, showing up an hour later. Seated at 8:40 PM and didn’t get our appetizer or bread until 9:35 PM. Our seats were terrible, as the lights were low and SO bright that if you didn’t sit up in a certain way or angle, you are blinding the other person across the table. Once we finally got our meal, the young man asked if we would like fresh parmesan to which we replied yes, ten minutes later, nothing. Fifteen minutes later, nothing. We decided not to wait since it was clear they forgot about us. Would not recommend this business to anyone as it was extremely slow service, non attentive staff, and extremely overpriced food for what it is. Go elsewhere if you have the option.

Been going for years but sorry to say never again. First they tried to seat us in front of the kitchen and not very romantic having waiters talking and going in and out with clean and dirty dishes right in front of you. Hostess made no effort to accommodate even though we had a reservation and there were open tables. We sat at the bar. The bartender was not much better with wanting to be there and pretty slow. Never asked why we even had to move from a table. Calamari was very good, caprese mozz soft but tomatoes underripe and flavorless. Vitello porcini not good as the medallions were tough and overdone and fairly bland. Chicken was good but was heavy on the charred side. We skipped dessert figuring it wasn't getting any better. Always overlooked the ambience there which is terrible and decades outdated because the food was great. No more. I'll only go to Dolce in that area for good Italian from now on. Covid has been tough on restaurant operations so at least make sure staff is friendly and caring and food up to standards. This time neither happened.

Fiamma was one of the first restaurants I visited when moving to Charlotte ten years ago and it is still one of my favorites. I choose to eat there on my birthday every year and have eaten there on Valentine's Day, New Years Eve and many other nights just because! Even though I have moved away from the Dilworth neighborhood, we still drive to Dilworth to eat at Fiamma because of the delicious food and wonderful experiences with the staff. I have never had anything other than a delightful experience there. They have something for everyone.. I love their pasta but my husband gets the lamb or pork chop and we both love the Fiamma Salad! We got take out from there during Covid and were very impressed with how seriously they are taking pandemic protocols. The tables were very spaced out and the staff were all in masks (and wearing them properly). We are very cautious but will be visiting soon because they are clearly taking the safety of their staff and patrons seriously. The takeout was delicious but we are looking forward to eating there in person again soon!
Absolutely amazing! We sat out on the patio since it was a lovely night out and still had prompt service. We chatted with our waiter, one of the owners sons, and he told us that it was a family owned business that they've had for 13 years, which is just the kind of place that I love! The food was fantastic, though not a lot of vegetarian options. Plenty of pescatarian though! The pasta is delicious and homemade, the sauce is obviously made with fresh tomatoes and herbs. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and knew the menu like the back of their hands! If you ARE vegetarian, be careful, the pesto that they bring out with the bread right away does have anchovies in it, so not vegetarian. Once we explained though they were super helpful and even made some really good menu suggestions! At the end of our meal they brought us some AMAZING tiramisu. It was rich while still nice and fluffy and lightweight. Fantastic drink selection, alcoholic and non. Overall a great way to end our time in Charlotte!
Downhill ...This USED to be a fun energetic, and delicious place. Those days are gone. Had to wait over 20 minutes to be seated for our confirmed reservation. Upon being seated, we were forgotten for another 20 minutes. The service seemed like there were only 3 people on the whole floor doing bussing, bartending, and serving. Our drink orders took 25 minutes to come, our waiter was also the bartender. Appetizers were mediocre, cold and bland. When dinner finally arrived, 1 hour later, part of the order was incorrect, the rest were cold, bland and tasteless...all 7 dishes. No offer for fresh drinks, we had to chase service down to get water refills and additional wine. I won't even how into the fiasco of the 35 minutes payment process. 3.5 hours later we got to go home! Fiamma has gone downhill in all aspects. Judging by other reviews, everyone agrees. Hey managers and owners, take more time fixing your issues in the restaurant than answering everyone's reviews on here and Yelp.
There are so many great local restaurants we order from or dine at, however I felt compelled to write about our excellent takeout experience with Fiamma last night. First, the staff thoughtfully called when our order was ready because they wanted us to receive it as fresh as possible. As for the meal - the Sea Bass was exceptional as were the vegetable sides it came with. The fish was cooked to perfection with a tasty crisp and a delicate center. This was one of the best fish entrees I’ve had in Charlotte to date. The homemade seafood pastas were terrific - we ordered both, and the pasta and seafood were so fresh. An added perk - enough left to have for lunch today. We were even crazy about the Caesar salad and bread with pesto dipping oil. Panna Cotta was a treat. This meal would have been perfect dining in with service, but it was just as perfect eating from the convenience of our home. This was money well spent.
Had dinner here with a friend in town and this is one of the most authentic Italian restaurants i’ve been to outside of Italy. Homemade pasta was perfect… Tiramisu was perfect, Fiochetti (which i’ve noticed has been really hard to find in most Italian restaurants) was delicious, albeit a little heavy on the truffle oil for my taste but it was still very well done. The bread and pesto you start out with is mouthwatering, and the sorbet we were served inbetween courses to cleanse the palate was a yummy surprise. Our server was so sweet and the atmosphere was really relaxing and quiet. Will definitely be back here.

Fiammas is an excellent Italian restaurant in the Dilworth neighborhood of Charlotte. Had dinner there for the first time last night. Valentines day 2019. We started with the Buratta a delicious appetizer that consist of buffalo cheese prosciutto arugula and eggplant and stuffed mushrooms on top of grilled shrimp. Both were delicious! Ate them so fast forgot to take a pic. For entre we both had the Branzino. This dish is grilled Mediterranean Sea Bass, buttery Scallops, delicious grilled shrimp, pasta and spinach. Oh the Branzino!!!! It was amazing! For dessert we had a ricotta cheesecake with raspberries. Also amazing!! The staff is friendly and picked a fantastic wine to complement our dinner choices. Overall a great place for a nice dinner with a loved one or for a casual dinner with friends.
Seriously bummed about what used to be my favorite restaurant in the area going so far downhill. Not only was the service completely unacceptable, the food was almost inedible. Not only was the pasta cold and gummy, the "special" sea bass was certainly not sea bass. I had heard of restaurants attempting to pass off various fish as more desirable species but this was blatant. When called on it, at least they had the decency not to argue but just remove it from the bill. Not only will I not return, I will definitely make sure our many friends that we have recommended this place to over the years are aware how far down it has gone. I never post reviews of any kind but this last visit was so bad....well you get the point. highly recommended you go to any other restaurant but this one. Avoid....
Chose to celebrate my fiancee's birthday here last night after receiving a high recommendation. Very disappointing for our first visit and on such a special occasion. Service was very slow for us. Our server (Junn?) seemed more interested in working the room than our table. He was unaware of what the specials were and returned to our table many minutes later and apologized for the long delay. This pretty much continued throughout the night. We ate our appetizers with menus on our laps as he didnt return to take our entree order. The table that was seated after us finished before we had (different server). I don't know if the restaurant does anything special for birthdays but I indicated this on the reservation and nothing was said or done. Unfortunately we could not wait to leave.
This Restaurant is LEGIT the one and only real Italian place you want to go eat at, for the vibe of sitting in a Restaurant in Tuscany! Believe me, i was born and grew up in Switzerland and been to italy over 10 times in my life....been in the USA for over 4 years now and finally....i found a place that comes as close as possible to the real food and ambiente of italy. Thank you for all the good food, the fantastic service & the little complimets of the kitchen. I for sure will be back to calm my cravings of REAL Italian food!

My table was not ready on the time of my reservation. The hostess told us to wait for 10 minutes, she just asked my name, didn’t say ‘welcome’ or ‘I’m sorry’ or anything. So I asked why my table was not ready and she was rude with me and my husband and leave us there. 10 minutes after that, the same hostess opened the door and indicated my table was ready. They just pointed with them fingers where were the table and I didn’t know exactly which table was mine because they didn’t bring me to the table and my table had no silverware and glasses. We order appetizer and tasted old. Really bad experience with the service and food.

I wish there were more stars to give. First of all, we walked in and was immediately greeted and they knew who we were from our reservations. Sat my wife and I down, and the waiter rattled off specials for the night like he was reading off a menu (very impressive). Professional throughout, checked on us every few minutes. The food was exquisite, I had the veal, my wife has the ravioli of the day. And at the end, they surprised my wife with a dessert for her birthday, all I did was request that they "embarrassed her for her birthday" in my reservation. These wonderful people went above and beyond and it's nice to see such exemplary customer service. 15 out of 10, would come back obviously. Thanks guys
I've got to say... Fiamma Ristorante EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS! This place is a gem! The customer service we received was out of this world. Luiggi and his brother provided fantastic service, answered our questions and explained the menu very throughout. Keep in mind that this is a family owned authentic Italian business, not olive garden! The food was beyond delicious. Everything my table ordered was fresh and so good it makes my mouth water. The fresh pesto got me, I wish i would have ordered some to go! 10/10 best Italian in the Charlotte area

More like a 10 out of 5!! Everything about this place was off the charts. The food was absolutely amazing. We had the stuffed veal chop with gnocchi, the linguine nori and the ricotta cheese cake. I can not recommend the stuffed veal chop enough, the best itallian in Charlotte, period! The wine list was excellent as we're the wines on it. The ambiance was wonderful, cozy and homey. The best part of the night, the service. You HAVE to ask for Mark. He was nothing short of fabulous, offering suggestions and answering questions, anticipating or needs. I would go back just for the service. The rest of the staff was equally attentive and deserves mention as well.
I’ve eaten at Fiamma many times over the years. It was the first time since the pandemic. I took friends that were visiting and they were over the moon for their food. My partner and I got our usual and we both felt that the quality of the food had greatly went down hill. They had also gotten rid of the best drink ever. The Italian margarita. Prior to the pandemic I would have given it 10 stars. But now only 4. I hope they can improve and do better because this was one of my favorite places not only in Charlotte but anywhere.

Our server, Luis, was great, very polite and courteous. He memorized all of the specials, at least 5, in great detail and was very attentive to our table. Food was SO delicious, zero complaints. I had a special, the branzino, wow. Grilled to perfection. Seasoned perfectly. Wine was delicious as well, I tried an Italian one I wasn't familiar with and I'll be trying more next time I go. I do wish the air conditioning was on stronger. It felt quite warm inside. Also, as I'm sure it has to do with staffing shortages and COVID, but our food took a really long time to come out. BUT It was worth the wait. Overall, a great experience and a come-back for sure.
Our first experience at fiamma was beyond spectacular. We were seated right away. Our server was on point and the food was absolutely delicious. During our second and third visits there was little to be desired. It took a long time for us to get seated both times and once we did we were completely ignored. We were ignored so much the third time after 20 minutes of waiting at our table with not even drinks ordered we got up and left and have never gone back since. My other complaint about the place is that it is a little on the smaller side because of all the tables they have crammed in there so it can be awkward to navigate when they're busy.
I NEVER write reviews but I feel I have to this time. My boyfriend and I went there 1/5/2014 to celebrate our anniversary. The food was amazing! I especially liked the bread and fresh pesto. I ordered the black linguine and not being a fan of tomato based sauces asked if I could have it with a cream sauce. They accommodated my request with no issues and it was absolutely delicious! My boyfriend who never tries anything different ordered the gnocchi and said it was the best thing he's ever eaten. The service was great as well and the waitress was very nice and knowledgeable. If I lived in the area I would visit Fiamma at least once a week!
This is the first time in my life I walked out of a restaurant before being served. We were all dressed up for date night. When we walked in, we weren’t greeted. We didn’t see many people inside- only one man behind the bar, and one family in the corner eating dinner. I thought “well, this is odd”. This was around 6pm, a normal meal time. The man behind the bar looked at us several times but never acknowledged us. We decided to wait 5 minutes, and if we hadn’t been sat or greeted in 5, we would head out. No one ever acknowledged us, so we left. Again- this was not due to the place being busy. It was dead. It felt like no one worked there.
December 7, 2014 I reserved a table to celebrate my wife's birthday. Because I read some reviews I thought that the place must be a good experience. Great mistake, food was nothing than regular, service was ok, but prices were extremely expensive $ 34.00 for a small piece of flounder, 4 mini shrimps, 2 scallops and spinach as side is really expensive. My wife order Ossobuco with risotto, meat was no flavor and risotto salty, we ask to change risotto but flavor was tasteless. The waitress insist in the special I imagine for the price. Don't waste your money in this place, prices are not accord with quality, flavor, and size.
My husband and I just went back after 6 years, and it was just good as we remembered! Started with the scallop special. The scallops were cooked completely fine, but the cauliflower puree was sooooo good. I had a mushroom risotto special with scallops and shrimp. Very tasty. Definitely enough for leftovers if you filled up on bread and got an appetizer. He got the gnocchi with sausage and peas. Must have had a lot of flavor because I could smell it on him the rest of the night, haha. Service is attentive, prices are more than fair, atmosphere is cozy. Great choice if you want a hearty, authentic Italian experience :)
I had the pleasure of attending a private cocktail release party and it was amazing. As a Charlotte native I’m ashamed to say I’ve never even heard of this place so when our waiter told us they have been there since 2006, I’m like where have I been?? Lol. Anyways everything was amazing, from the service, to drinks to food. Best Italian I’ve ever had. I most definitely will be going back to try more dishes and drinks. This place will not disappoint.

My all time favorite restaurant. The staff is amazing. June and Jessica are our favorite. It's very quaint, but the food is authentic Italian. They make their own pasta and it is absolutely the best pasta I've ever had. I definitely recommend the beef carpaccio as an appetizer. You really can't go wrong with anything you order though. You will not be disappointed. 2 apps, 2 entrès and a dessert and a bottle of wine will run you about $150 which is very reasonable considering the quality of the food and service and the quantity of food you get. THE BEST DATE SPOT IN CHARLOTTE.
We annually go to Fiamma's for our birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions. Have been doing this, well within a week after they first opened - so it's over 2 decades. Have recommended Fiamma's to several friends, who also wind up dining here. The food is absolutely wonderful: the osso buco, the pork, always fresh fish, and wonderful pasta dishes. I love the wine options, my wife enjoys the creative cocktails. We are going again next Friday evening and look forward to a wonderful dining experience. It's one of Charlotte's absolute treasures tucked into a strip mall.
Just left having dinner at Fiamma. It was my first time here and we were taken care of by Jessica. She was very knowledgable about their menu and wine list. I loved seeing the whole staff working together. It helped the flow of the restaurant go very smooth. The athmosphere was comfortable and the food was absolutely delicious. We didn't expect the level of sophistication and flavor we were going to be getting from Fiamma. So happy that we decided to dine here. I reccommend it to everyone and will definitely be back anytime I'm visiting the area again.
I had a to go order. The portions were very generous and the food all was delicious. As I waited for the food just inside the door it was obvious that the management was taking the covid situation seriously. Patrons were spaced out by plenty of distance and I watched people being turned away while the empty tables between full sat empty. That has to be very hard for an owner to do....but I digress. I have been going to Fiama for years and can never recall a bad meal. This is a place you go to take your time, relax and enjoy a hearty meal.
This restaurant was recommended by our attorney! It was absolutely delish! So very fresh and tasty AND the portions are large! This is a hidden gem. Service was spot on attentive and polite. We will return…allot! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because the food was pretty good. However, inside it was way too warm. I eventually had to put my hair up because my neck was sweating so bad. The food took forever. We were inside for almost 2 hours before we finally got our main course. It's incredibly cramped. I had to crawl out of the booth on my knees to get around my friends to use the restroom. Not the experience I was hoping for. My suggestion is to go on a Monday or do take out and avoid the restaurant all together.
Cute little Italian place that has been here for a long time. I came for a special event, so the full menu was not available. The gnocchi was really good, but I wanted to try the lamb chops. The service was very much lacking, but I think this was just due to the special event, so I would give them another chance. Staff was friendly. The drinks are just ok in my opinion, but the atmosphere is great.

I do not recommend this restaurant. The overall experience is unexceptional and Meh at best. --Friday night reservation and no one at host stand -- When eventually noticed and seated, you'll then wait for water, cocktails, and server's attention. -- After ordering, table is not cleared of menus, extraneous glasswear, or appetizer plates until requested. -- Our large group ordered many dishes and determined no dish is worthy of repeat ordering. Vegetarian / Vegan please note the 'pesto' dip served with bread plate has anchovies.
Great service, great beer, good food. I was helped within a few seconds of walking in, and the waiters were very friendly and answered the questions I had. Peroni “Nastro Azzuro” on tap was delicious, I will definitely have that again. The Gnocchi Con Salsiccia was pretty good, but it wasn’t my favorite. The gnocchi itself was quite soggy, and the amount of sausage included in the dish felt lacking. I’ll likely return, but try something else.

1/28/23- visited again after 3 years. They are still the best.. the quality has not been compromised .. definitely one place to try for authentic Italian food One of the best Italian restaurants in Charlotte... a fine place for a celebration... had a great mother's day with my family.. perfect place for a family or a romantic lunch/dinner or even a girls day out... the waiters were very friendly, continuously checking on us... Will definitely go back again...

Absolutely LOVED this place! My friend and I went there for the first time. We ordered the salmon and black pasta, and Tirimasu and creme brulee for desserts. The Tirimasu was much larger than expected. We both finished only half of it. We spent about 2 hours there. The service was a bit slow, but the food was very tasty and obviously fresh, which explains the waiting time. Totally worth the wait, I would just plan for it next time. P.S, must try the Moscato (Apricot, Fig, and Orange)!
Great. Got the special mushroom ravioli. Oh, yeah. Atmosphere was fine, but we had reservations when it opened and ended up seated next to the only other group. We'll be back.

Vegetarian options
There are a couple of options, and the special I got was veggie and fantastic.
My real score is 2.7 but google does not allow that. I love Italian food but this is not going to be my place. The food was good however the portion size is small and the price at the high end. Also, they chose poor music. I like the music but not when you wish to speak to others. Horns are piercing pick music without them

We had a 6:30 reservation and we ordered 10 minutes after we sat but waited a while for food, and the server was great, the food was delicious but it took so long to for the server to get back to us when we needed something. After we had eaten desert we waited 15 minutes for the waiter to show up but never returned so we manually gave him our card for the bill, and then we left the restaurant at 8:50. Food was very good, service was very slow.
We had a group of 7 people for lunch. We had great experiences there for dinner in the past. But I cannot recommend for lunch. There was only one waitress and apparently one person in the kitchen for the whole restaurant. Consequently service was slow and we ended up spending a lot more time there than we had thought. Lunch dishes were OK and we got complimentary sherbet at the end. However, it did not make up for the mediocre experience
I’ve been to Fiamma twice, and both experiences were beyond my expectations. The food is the best Italian I have ever had, and the staff make you feel as though you are in an eatery in Italy. The personal touch, the descriptions of the dishes, the extras thrown in…it’s just a wonderful place. I tell everyone I know about it. And look forward to going back!

The restaurant is quaint and romantic. The food options were dymanic and creative with reasonable pricing. The presentation and taste of the food did not disappoint us at all. The only down side was the limited waitstaff. They are seemingly falling victim to what many other restaurants are having trouble with and that is staffing issues. The kitchen didn't seem to be under staffed, just the dining room.

After a very awkward start (our reserved table was given away minutes before we arrived) we were finally seated, then after waiting 10 minutes for someone to come to the table our waiter arrived and to say the least Ricardo made our evening. He couldn’t apologize enough and was graciously attentive for the rest of our stay. Food was delicious, service was excellent and we all (6 of us) had a wonderful time. We will be back!
Hands Down Best Italian In Charlotte. Excellent service from all servers, food is cooked to order. From the very first bite, you know it’s homemade all the way. Just the right portions throughout, The homemade desserts are a great compliment to the main course. The Lemoncello for finale clean the pallete perfectly. What an Great experience too to bottom. Also met the Owner Fernando, He really made us feel like family!
Absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. Service was perfect, food was amazing, tirimisu was fantastic. We will return the next time we are in Charlotte. Thank you for the wonderful dinner!

DELICIOUS! Absolutely incredible atmosphere and insanely delicious food. Authentic service with a well rounded menu perfect for any dietary needs including a plethora of vegetarian options! What I appreciate the most is the personalized feel of this experience. It's as if you are being treated as family with food created from the sincerest place of joy! You deserve unparalleled perfection.
What a hidden gem! I've always had an amazing experience here, and during the pandemic has been no different. Since they're a family-owned restaurant and all live under one roof, they take the health of both staff and customers very seriously. Not to mention, the food is the best Italian in the city. They also have some covered patio tables if you prefer to dine outside. Highly recommend!
We went in for Valentine’s Day and it was superb. The bread and pesto is delish. We got a pear pizza that was phenomenal. The entrees were really good. The only 2 cons were the slow service, we were there for over 2 hours, and the crème brûlée was burnt. Otherwise, this is one of the best Italian places in CLT.

We love this place! Hubby and I came here for our pre-marriage dinner with family and then again on the day we got married and several times after! The food here is consistently good - we always end up trying the yummy specials. The service is top notch and our favorite part is the sorbet between courses as palette cleansers. Def the best Italian spot and hidden gem in Charlotte!
My wife and I were seeking somewhere different and special to dine for our 40th Anniversary. We were not aware of Fiamma, only what we read through searching for a special place. So....we traveled an hour down 77. The dining experience was SPECIAL. The food was exceptional as well as the professional and attentive service staff. We hit gold! We look forward to our next visit.
Amazing experience! Me and my dad just dropped in since we were in the area. The service was great and the food was delicious! I ordered the Gnocchi Con Salsiccia and it was amazing! The gnocchi was soft and literally melted in my mouth. I will be back! This is a special place right in my backyard.

This place is AMAZING! They have so many homemade raviolis and they will cut homemade Fiamma Restaurant for you while you wait! This is the only place in the city I have found like this. I LOVE the Fiamma Restaurant, it is sooooooo good. The homemade sauces are also delicious!!! I have had the rigatoni, pappardelle, and a variety of the raviolis. Everything was DELICIOUS!!!
This is my second time here and it's been a while between visits. I must say the food here is consistent, consistently very good! I believe the pasta here is all home made or at least made with fresh pasta, and the dishes are nothing like a pizza joints Italian food. Price wise it's a little bit expensive but not like you're going to have to sell a kidney to buy dinner.
Our experience from start to finish was excellent. Luigi was friendly, attentive and amazing. The food, especially the gnocchi, took me straight back to my favourite ristorante in Sienna, Italy. If I lived in Charlotte this would be my date night, out with friends nite, special occasion, all the things night out spot. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu!!
The food was amazing. The ambiance was also very good. A very nice place to go on a cozy date night and experience some authentic Italian food. A little on the expensive side and Service was a little slow, but nothing too outrageous.

Went during restaurant week and even with reservations, the place was slammed and we had to wait for a good bit. I thought this was a bad sign of things to come, but boy was I wrong. The amount of choices on the restaurant week menu was unbelievable and all the food was absolutely amazing. The scallops appetizer and the veal ossobuco are must haves. So delicious!
First time there. My wife and I both enjoyed our 2 different veal specials at $35. There are many mid teen to low $20 regular menu items we will try in future. Wait staff very professional, don't be in a rush. Only negative is tables are close together you can hear conversations (and vice versa I am sure) at the tables next to you. We do recommend trying.
We love love love Fiamma! Truly the most underrated restaurant in Charlotte. Every single course is incredible and the lemon gelato in between courses is such a sweet special touch. The ownership and wait staff are so incredible. So lucky to have this amazing spot so close to my home. Keep it up Fiamma - you deserve sold out nights and all the accolades.
I had never heard of Fiamma despite being a Charlotte Native. A friend suggested we meet there for dinner one night because in her opinion it is the best Italian food in Charlotte. I TOTALLY agree. Everything from the service, food, and atmosphere was perfect. Everything was so good I forgot to take any pictures except for the reasonable priced wine!
We celebrated our cousins birthday who was in town. We both had veal with gnocchi and a mushroom sauce. I had a side order of spinach. We got a bottle of the house Pinot noir. Coming from a family who makes their own homemade gnocchi, this was the best gnocchi we have ever had at a restaurant. Great food, great wait staff. Definitely would go again.
It was a struggle to give 4stars here. Cozy seating around the bar. If you want the bar to show off, those making drinks should be trained better. $15 cocktails should be good. Inventive menu of Italian inspired items. Some were very good flavorful dishes, some were not. No problem with the service here, friendly knowledgeable and mostly efficient
This is a really high quality restaurant that will treat you and your stomach well. Top notch service, the food is fantastic and you will love the home made pesto and bread to start off with. I got to try the lamb shank and it was incredibly tender with some delicious gnocchi on the side. Great place to treat yourself or have a romantic date

I took my wife here for our anniversary and we were greatly impressed with the quality of the food and service! This is quite a complement from an Italian. The Lamb Shank, Bolognaise, pesto dipping oil, and dessert were impeccable! Our waiter even made a nice "Happy anniversary" decoration on the dessert plate. We were really impressed.
Really good food and great staff. We sold out the place for a family celebration. The staff was amazing and their semce of urgency was on point. Their red sauce plates are great. The salmon dish I had was great. All kinds of flavor profiles. Again thank you to the staff and the establishment owner for allowing us to celebrate.
My boyfriend and I went here for the first time during Charlotte Restaurant week and it was absolutely amazing! The food came out quick, hot, and was delicious. Everyone worked as a team and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our time here. We will definitely be coming back and I recommend this place to everyone!
What a great restaurant!! Fiamma's does everything right in my opinion. We were a party of four last night. I noticed that when the server took all our plates away -- they were all empty!! Food, ambience, and most especially outstanding service. I will be back again and again.

Wait staff, hosts were very pleasant and friendly. Food was decent and for the price you get a very large portion. Pomegranate sauce a little over powering on the duck but delicious all the same. No wait on a Wed. Night at 8pm, but could see it being busy on the Weekends. Good experience since we were in town for 1 night.

The food was good. Calamari was very tasty, although in a small portion. The setting was authentic and had a cozy atmosphere. The service was decent but the food took forever. The staff told us that they were understaffed that one night but it has happened a few times now.. Would recommend going on a slow night
My husband and I went there for Valentine's night. We had a later reservation. The place had us packed in like sardines and seated us near the rest rooms. Not romantic at all. We ordered the Scallop appetizer for $14.99 and it came with two scallops the size of quarters. Very disappointing and very overpriced.
Best Queens feast option in the city. The chefs here give you numerous options from their menu. Which is the problem figuring out what to eat. Not overcrowded or hurried which some restaurants tend to do during the feast week. Excellent creative food and standards. Make this a go to anytime. Highly recommend.
We had an 8pm reservation, we were seated at 8:45.... food took another hour to get. My dinner had no flavor, but my husband did like his dinner. The hostess apologized after we said something, the waiter didn't seem to care at all. I'm shocked with the positive reviews. Maybe we came on a really bad night.
This family owned restaurant is a hidden gem in Charlotte. The food is excellent and the service is “off the charts”. The attention to detail demonstrated by the two brothers is exceptional. It’s not fancy, just warm and inviting. We’ll be back soon!

Was looking for a local restaurant to try while on a girl's weekend getaway. Strongly recommend, they were short staffed but never let it show. The staff were all courteous and helpful. The food was plentiful and delicious! A little pricey but you get what you pay for with superb service and food.
Great service and cocktails. We’ve been here for several times and we loved it until our last visit. Our waiter was as nice as he could be but the food quality was a bit disappointing; shrimps in my pasta were slightly bitter for some reason. Perhaps they were not fresh or improper food handling?
Went for restaurant week everything was amazing except the black pasta was overcooked not Al dente.. the sauces for everything were exquisite the drinks were very well prepared they had a good wine selection too. All the wait staff was sooo nice even when busy they didn't miss a beat.
Very nice evening. I think they could dim down the lights a bit, but the food was delicious. We had pan seared scallops to start. The scallops we're very tender and we'll seasoned. The only knock, it seems things are a bit unorganized, but it's not a bad knock, I will be going back.
I have to give "1" Star in order to post. Worst customer service experience/hospitality experience I have endured in years. I cannot recommend this restaurant. Please avoid.

The appetizers were AMAZING. Between dishes we were served sorbets. The main meal was delicious. The bolognese was the best bolognese I’ve had in so long. The desert were to die for. I ordered a crème brûlée and it was the best! Definitely coming back here again!!
If you're looking for upscale Italian dining with an intimate setting, Fiamma is absolutely a top choice. Service was delightful, the cuisine is excellent, and the interior is very welcoming. Well worth a visit for one of the best Italian restaurants in Charlotte.
Absolutely Fantastic! I am thrilled to have dined here. The service and food are top notch! I haven't had such delicious Italian food since leaving New York 16 years ago. I will definitely bring friends and family here again. Bravo!!! Tu tia tavola a mangiare!
