We traveled from Alabama JUST to finally have Five Daughters Bakery Doughnuts/cookies/desserts. While the taste did NOT disappoint the customer service did. When you enter the welcoming, pink twisty turnabout conjoined rooms remodeled like a hometown bakery atmosphere you already have a smile on your face in anticipation of the delicious smells; however the displaced, unwelcoming bakery attendant leaning against the wall with her arms folded and a lackluster expression didn't continue the happiness vibe. Although we stood directly in front of her, expressed it was our first time there and asked several LEADING questions, it mattered not. She led off with "what do y'all want" as she leaned toward the doughnuts on the stacked trays beside her to pull off your named delight. If you don't know what's meant by "100 layers", don't expect to find out from the young lady packing your box....and asking what her favorite flavor is might get you a serious side ways glance! You WILL have your doughnuts stacked neatly in a box, and learn that they're sold individually and no specials while you're quickly feeling the need to just hurry up and decide whether there's someone standing behind you or not. If an "experience" is what you're looking for, I'd go home and create your own, once you choose your craveable flavor(s); otherwise, DO enjoy the delicious layers of sweet soft indulgence. Of the dozen we purchased, the mini ones and vanilla 100-layers were the crowd favorites.

I was apprehensive coming into this situation. I’ve had several poor experiences with “cronuts” or layered donuts, but I just keep telling myself, “Keep trying! One day you’ll find a flaky donut master!” Thank God I kept trying. The 100 Layer donuts at Five Daughters are daringly delectable. I played it safe with a Chocolate Sea Salt and Vanilla Cream (really trying to get a good, simple cronut. Did I already mention I was apprehensive?) and was pleasantly surprised. I’ve never been more impressed with these two seemingly simple flavors. The chocolate icing is perfectly balanced, with the sea salt adding a strong, complex flavor. The vanilla cream is wonderfully light in both texture and flavor, totally disappearing on your tongue within seconds. The donut itself is light, flaky, and not overly sweet, greasy, or dry. I’ve come to understand that while lots of places may claim to have great layered donuts, most of them fall short, or miss the mark completely. Five Daughters however, nails the 100 layer donut from every angle. Absolutely worth your stop!

Donut Series, Part 3 Does sibling rivalry really exist? You better believe it and the ladies at “Five Daughter’s Bakery” are competing against one another to make you the best donut possible. Located in the “12 South” neighborhood in Nashville, Tennessee, it’s a bit of a walk from downtown so we’d recommend driving here instead. If you’ve been keeping up with our exploits then you’ll recall that we recently sampled a Pumpkin Spice Latte to usher in the Fall season. While that PSL was good, the donut version we had today was unbelievably better! So flavorful and that center filling was tremendous. The “Chocolate Sea Salt” donut was on the sweet side and it’s texture more resembled a croissant than your typical donut. For those who are interested, they offer multiple Paleo and Gluten Free options. If this place was located a little closer to our hotel I seriously think I’d visit every single day until I had sampled each of their creations at least once (or maybe 3 or 4 times). And that’s…Henry’s Take. #nashvilledonuts

Friendly customer service and lots of variety. We tried a few to really get an experience. Everything was fresh tasting and the dough was fluffy but still crumbly. Costing just under $30 for 5 donuts + a mini. The Purist was the best, it was light and not too sweet. Lemon was the our next best- not too sweet and infused with a light tasting lemon custard that’s sweetness wasn’t overpowering. King Kong was good but very sweet, the maple glaze and bacon were great together, the buttercream infusion was too much, would be better with the Boston cream filling, but that’s a personal preference. The Boston Cream’s chocolate was dark so it lacked the sweetness we desired from a traditional boston, but the cream filling was lovely. The milk chocolate sprinkle was a good sweetness. The strawberry, we got in a mini, wasn’t anything to rave about. Overall, the hype wasn’t real for us, but wasn’t a bad try.

I visited Five Daughters during my trip to Nashville and it was generally a very delicious experience. I ordered two donuts: the Strawberry Fields and the Blueberry Lemon. The layered donuts were a nice spin on the traditional donut, the reminded me of a Dominique Ansel’s cronuts (croissant donuts). I ate the Blueberry Lemon the same day right after purchasing based on the recommendation of the staff. To me it was overly sweet due to the lemon curd filling; if you are a filling person, this donut might be a good fit for you. I ate the Strawberry Fields the following day for breakfast and it held its freshness overnight. It tasted very good and was sweet but not too much. Overall, a good experience and definitely worth checking out if you are in Nashville!

Five daughters isn’t just the hype, it’s WORTH the hype! I have heard five daughters for so so so long that I was wary it would live up to my expectations. And my oh my it did! First off, the service is super quick. We got in and ordered our 100-layered donuts! Yes the layers are what five daughters is all about. We sat outdoors in the sun and savored every bit of the delicious, creamy donut. I was so so so in love with the taste and delicious fresh layers that I ordered one more of the blueberry lemon donut. The cream is sinfully light and the layers are deliciously beautiful! I can go on but I highly recommend trying Five daughters in Nashville! They have daily specials and different flavors! Check it out!

YUMMY!! I have heard about this place and made sure to stop here while visiting Nashville. It did not disappoint! I would highly suggest trying the 100 layer donuts (basically like croissant layers piled up into a donut) so it’s super airy and buttery when you bite into it. They also have traditional yeast based donuts. I tried 4 donuts and the donkey Kong donut was my favorite with maple, cream and bacon on it. The cinnamon sugar was awesome, and I also tried the raspberry donut and quinnamon. I also tried a bacon and cheese wheel warmed up. Everything so so tasty and decadent!! After tip and tax is came close to $26 so on the high side but worth it for sure.

  • Mason Unverferth

Holy sweet mother. I’m gonna go ahead and say it, these are the greatest donuts of all time and eternity. I’ve tried a lot of donuts and these are the best, nothing will ever change my mind! The building itself is very radical and has a very chill, happy vibe that makes it impossible NOT to feel like everything is gonna be okay. “The Purist” was my favorite although they’re all delicious. But wait, it gets better, they even have plenty of gluten free options! Very friendly staff too, I don’t know how this place doesn’t have more recognition! They should be known and accessible to every person in the world… HIGHLY Recommended!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wow! Just wow. These are some of the best cronuts I've ever had! As a pastry chef I pride myself on trying local pastry shops, and this is hands down one of my favorites I've ever visited. Dominique Ansel would be proud of what you're doing here. They're layers and layers of flavor, filled with more flavor and topped with awesome toppings, like bacon and chocolate crumbles. They've got great merch and a really cute kids play area outside. Parking is limited so you'll be parking on the streets more than likely, so pay attention because apparently the neighbors hate when people block their driveways as there are a bunch of shops in the area.

  • Genna C.

Hands down the best donuts I've ever had. These donuts are not like the typical Donut since they have so many airy layers. The signage inside stated they use fresh ingredients, locally sourcing them when they can; you can definitely tell. Everything from the Donut to the filling was perfect. I was a little sad to see I got a chocolate chip cookie instead of a chocolate chip Donut though. Parking was way easier than I thought on a Saturday morning. I didn't wait in line but 10 minutes and was out the door. Staff was super friendly as well. If you have the money to spend (about $5 a donut) then this place is definitely worth checking out!

  • Maria Elisabetta Spurney

Truly decadent and delicious donuts. The ones with filling in the middle are out of this world. We loved the 100 layer ones, but I do wish I would have tried some of their “regular” donuts too. Hoping to next time we are driving through Nashville again! Our favorite was the maple bacon (with real thick and quality bacon), the strawberry with lemon curd filling, and the Hubbs love the Cinnamon Toast Crunch one. They are a little pricey, $34 for half a dozen with 2 black coffees, but they were worth it and coffee was just as delicious. Staff was immensely friendly as well, always so important for the experience. Thanks!!

  • Chris Roybal

I just had to stop in before leaving Nashville to see if the donuts lived up to the hype. I was not disappointed! Friendly staff and a variety of interesting and unique flavors to choose from. I ended up deciding on the Summer Berry Crisp and the Vanilla Cream. Both were tremendously good but that Sumer Berry Crisp, phenomenal! Dare I say the best donut I’ve ever had?! Quite possibly! They are definitely unique and unlike any other I’ve had. You’ve got to experience this for yourself. Maybe go on your first day in Nashville and not your last, as I wish I would have been able to try some of the other flavors!

  • Nightshade452

The store front is super cute and the outdoor area is great when there is good weather. The doughnuts ($5ish) are definitely expensive considering they are a doughnut, but they are large. The ones we chose were super sweet, bordering on sickeningly sweet. I got the maple, and it was good but alot between the frosting, filling, and sugar crusted dough. We enjoyed our doughnuts but I'm not sure if I was a local how often I would visit due to the price and sweetness (sugar coma for real!). I feel like I could have had one and split it. We all ate and enjoyed our doughnuts, so 5 stars for us.

  • SY L

I had to say the donuts taste good but the price is also relatively high. The average price for one donut is $5, but I bought two that cost me $12. The strawberry lemon one is very good! The strawberry sauce in the donut is very fresh. The lemon frosting is a 10! The texture of the donut is different from the dough style, it is more like a puff pastry. Overall, I do recommend the strawberry lemon flavor. The place is cute but the staff is not very friendly. Kind of overpriced. I won’t say you must try this place when you visit Nashville. But don’t miss it if you love pastry desserts!

  • Dylan Richter

Are you kidding me? The vanilla cream donut is perhaps the best donut, if not generally the best item of food, this world has ever seen. I unfortunately live 5 hours away so I’m not able to eat 1 every day of my life (I would if I could) so to compensate, I bought an additional freezer exclusively for my stash. I stock up every time I or someone I know goes to/through Nashville. Also, I will be writing my local government representatives in support of a new bill that will force Five Daughters to ship nationally. I encourage all to do the same.

  • David Sparks

I know what you're thinking.... they sell half eaten cronuts?!?! Of course not! No way was I too anxious to bite into these incredibly flavorful piles of flaky goodness. I was simply trying to show everyone what they looked like on the inside with the layers and filling! Sure, that's what I was doing. Short story long - go here. They did miss a star due to one of the employees making me feel like I was wrong for even being there. The other person was very helpful and answered all of our questions and more. Would definitely go back.

  • Rachel Stone

Omg ya'll!! These are not donuts; it is heaven in your mouth!! I have never had a donut that is so light and airy; it melts in your mouth! And let's talk about the flavor; I personally don't believe in vanilla anything, but my friends insisted on getting a vanilla donut. This was my favorite donut (we tried several). The taste was out of this world, and so light. My second favorite was the Boston cream filled, the chocolate was not overbearing, and the donut itself was also very light and airy!! A must stop when in Nashville!!

  • Melanie McAuley

I had been dreaming of going to Five Daughters and was so excited to get their donuts during my last Nash trip. They were good but they weren’t the best I’ve ever had. The service was subpar and the selection was limited with little explanation. I think it’s worth the trip but don’t go all out to order all the flavors. This is also in part to Donut + The Dog in Nash setting the bar SO HIGH for all donut places … but they’ve closed for now so hopefully Five Daughters makes your donut dreams come true.

  • Inga W

Absolutely 10/10!!! Amazing croissant donuts of buttery deliciousness! Go during the week to beat the lines and crowd! Ample street parking when you do. Went later in the day so they were sold out of the maple donuts (originally what I went for), but the Lemon Icebox did not disappoint! Mouth watering huge, flakey donut with lemon buttercream frosting and lemon curd filling. Sooooo amazingly delicious!!! Definitely worth the price! Cute place! Outdoor seating available. Wish they had a shop near me!

  • Devyani Sharma

I have never ever enjoyed donuts this much before. I would say I am very picky when it comes to donuts but these did not disappoint at all. On top of that they are even great at room temperature. Very fluffy and the icing was so light and flavorful. Not too sweet. Even the cream filling inside is so tasty. I am really glad to have found this spot. My favorite donut here so far is the Purist.

The 100 layer maple donut was delicious, but was extremely dense and heavy. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed it, but it was too much for me. Also not cheap, $5.10 plus tax really adds up. Service was friendly. As always, there was a line up, and didn’t move as fast as expected. My recommendation to the business…if you have signs everywhere saying “no eating inside”, please update your patio, clean those worn out white tables, and make it more cozier then it currently is.

  • Sana Qureshi

We got a variety of donuts. My favorite was vanilla cream and my fiancés favorite was raspberry. The ambiance is very cute inside and the 100 layer donuts were delicious !!! Highly recommend. The customer service could have been better. The young lady at the front desk wasn’t very welcoming and helpful with selection. The coffee is also not freshly brewed. We ended up throwing that away. Still a good spot to check out during your stay in Nashville ! Stick to the donuts.

  • Ethan Unverferth

Oh me oh my. These are the number one most incredible, delicious, insane donuts of all time. The building they’re located in is super cool and the smells inside are heavenly. I tried the seasonal Brownie Batter doughnut which was top notch. I also got a chocolate nitro cold brew coffee . They also offer several different flavors of gluten free doughnuts which is also good. Overall I can’t recommend this place enough, 10/10!

  • Steven Quinn

These are not your normal donuts!!! They are a mix between a croissant and donut (cronut) and are so awesome!!! Their flavors do rotate but they have plenty of options. Five Daughters is definitely in my top 3 of all time. They are definitely pricey, expect to pay $30-$36 for six donuts but you can't get anything else like them in TN. I've only had something like them one other time in NY. They are worth a try even if you just get one!

  • The K Green Show

Five daughters gets a lot of hype and it mostly lived up to it. The donuts have a hundred layers of love that put the pastry somewhere between a donut and a Mille fille. It's not for everyone but it is good. The donut surprised me with filling inside even though it had no center. The cookies were amazing. The cost is a detractor at about 5 dollars at average, but it is Nashville and everything is now overpriced. Give them a try.

  • Emily U.

During our stay in Nashville we wanted some donuts so we decided to come here! The doughnuts were delicious! The paleo and gluten free ones were pretty good, quite frankly if you want a really doughy, flavorful, and delicious doughnuts you may not want to get the paleo ones! Now onto the regular, fluffy, flavorful, delicious, beautiful, sweet, soft, pretty, unique, incredible doughnuts. Welp, I think I just said it all!

  • Prestomatic FPV

I googled best donuts in Nashville for my visit here, AMAZING choice with Five Daughters! Staff was very polite and helpful with my order! The donuts were fresh and the choices were hard to choose only a few! Delicious isn’t even enough, it’s worth the trip from Lebanon and the surrounding areas, save yourself the trouble of googling and choose this one and you won’t regret it!

  • Veronica J

Pastries were good, staff was very unpleasant. The young lady by the door was lovely however the one that helped me with the donuts seemed bother by me (I’m a tourist, first timer in this business and in Nashville) Customer service it’s so important for a business. Very small parking lot, the business was empty, zero lines, no ppl (which makes worst the lady’s actitud)

  • Maggie Lyle

This is a must try if you love donuts and cronuts! Some of the donuts pack quite a sugar punch so the minis make it easier to enjoy a few rather than one. The fillings were an unexpected but delicious surprise! The brownie batter was and so was the maple glaze. That bacon was cooked perfectly! It’s definitely worth a try and lives up to the local hype!

  • Keith Bresee

Omg!!! If you want the MOST PERFECT donut… get Five Daughters!! I’ve been coming here for 7-8 year and the quality always amazes me! They are super helpful! They always have tons of amazing unique options (they sometimes do sell out early before 12 though of the popular ones). And they have gluten free options that are AMAZING!!! I can’t recommend enough!!

  • Adam G

These donuts will change your life. How am I supposed to eat donuts from anywhere else after this? I can’t. Layers upon layers of doughy goodness with pockets of air in between each layer. I’m a big guy and two donuts had me loosening my belt. Don’t go anywhere else for donuts before you’ve come here. I promise it won’t disappoint. Mmm mmmm mmmm mmm good.

  • Laura Weston-Pruneda

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy donuts and that's basically the same thing! I tried to keep my hype low due to the insane raving I heard about FDB... The hype is warranted! Donuts were great, loved the cute playground, plenty of seating. Definitely worth a stop, even a quick one. Don't worry about the line. It moves quickly

  • V King

I've only eaten donuts from Five Daughters once and it was two years ago. This was my second time. It's unbelievable how fresh and moist these donuts are even after two days. Most donuts go stale within a day. I got two of the October seasonal flavors to take home with me a 6 hour drive away. Oh my goodness, so delicious.

  • Krishna B Kidambi

An awesome donut shop in Nashville. The best donuts I have had so far. Their blue berry and lemon donuts is a must, the chocolate was also great. The staff are friendly and polite. There is parking in the back. Be mindful the donuts are a tad bit expensive. If you are in town, I would definitely not miss this place.

  • Cam

Incredible across the board, the only complaint was the price was a little high. It appears that if you don't get here early you might have to wait in line a little while.

Cute place, gorgeous donuts. The maple donut was good but a bit overly sweet. It’s dusted in sugar, has a thick layer of maple frosting and there’s some sort of sweet cream filling. It was unexpected but a good snack for 2 people. The purist donut was my favorite. Vanilla cream was my fiancés favorite.

  • The Grub Guys

4.25/5 Stars for us. The glaze and the maple donuts are the two best we have. The price is a little steep, but you can taste it in the quality. The concept of the donuts are really cool as well. None of them were overly sweet which is/was impressive. Would love to come back and try more flavors.

  • SAVY CHAN

If you're in Nashville, this place is a must!! The cronuts are delicious. You can get a regular size and share, or you can keep it all for yourself!! Lol, they do offer minis as well. My son loved King Kong, which is the maple and bacon. I had the carrot cake. Yummy!!!! I hope yall enjoy them.

  • Nick

The donuts are very light and fluffy. Expect to wait a little in line. The average price for a donut here was $5 which is steep for what you get. It’s a cool stop if you’re visiting Nashville but I wouldn’t recommend buying more than 1 or 2 of the donuts. They are not worth the price you pay.

  • Chandrew Rajakumar

Delicious! If you love donuts or whatever, even if you don't, you should check this place out. Everything is so good. It's a cute little place with a great vibe. There's tons of outdoor seating and even a play area for kids. Check it out.

Best donuts I’ve ever had. The fermentation adds a lot to the texture, which is almost like a chewier, sweeter croissant. The bacon donut is ridiculously good and worth a trip in its own right - great flavor combination. The salted caramel apple and chocolate ones were also fantastic.

  • Deepti Kalkur

This is my favorite donut shop!!! I just love their cronut (hundred layered donut) and their mini donut collection!!! You get a wide variety of flavors.. and we simply love almost everything we have tried until day. Vanilla cream - hundred layers is our go to item each time

  • Zony Muniz

I absolutely love Five Daughters Bakery. Their 100 layer donuts are super tasty and unique. The only thing I was sad about was that they didn’t have the triple raspberry donut. But that’s not their fault. :)

The place is quaint and cute! On a weekday morning, we were in and out in less than 10 minutes. The selection of donuts is awesome! The donuts are good! are they $5 good? Not quite. Definitely a spot to try for fear of missing out but not amazing- simply overhyped.

  • Austin Jones

They were very busy for good reason. Their 100 layer doughnuts are wonderful. The puriest is approximately named. The triple raspberry bursts with flavor. The sugar cookie was moist and crumbly and a very unique flavor. My favorite was the blueberry lemon. Yummy.

  • Col Raimond

These donuts are so delicious. DEFINITELY get the 100 layer ones. They are incredible. They also have mini ones so you can try a bunch of different flavors. It is totally worth the wait in line. We also had biscuit sandwiches and they are savory and wonderful.

  • Dj Penix

Worst tasting donut I've ever had. Got the Boston cream and the donut had consistency of a croissant. Tough and chewy. Chocolate tasted like plastic. Cream was ok. Don't recommend. Would prefer Dunkin over paying these high prices for bad donuts.

  • Bryan B

Delicious donuts! If you are looking for some good local donuts while in Nashville this should be top on the list. Parking lot was small but we found a spot, the line was quick and we were in and out. Donuts were $3-6, a little pricy.

  • Kara Whittington

Best donuts we have ever had! I'm a Plain Jane type of girl, so the purist and lemon were my absolute favorite! My husband said the churro was the best donut he has ever eaten! His second favorite was definitely the bacon one!

  • Christopher Holstrom

Wow! These 100 layer doughnuts are massive. We hoped for more flavor options, but my wife and I enjoyed what we got. We didn't finish the doughnuts just because they were super rich with sugar, but we did enjoy what we ate

  • Emilly

Such a cool and “must do” spot in Nashville! The donuts here were deliciousssssss, and come with filling so it was definitely a “filling” experience. They were SWEET though and we ended up throwing out 1/3 of each one.

  • Jona

Very delicious donuts! I had chocolate, maple, summer berry, ant two minis. Loved them all! Definitely worth visiting. Service was nice. Place is really pretty for some donuts pics! Keep doing a great job!

  • Becks

This is donut heaven If you aren’t calorie counting you need to eat these! No one makes donuts like these beauties.I love the mint and pink decor. A must visit if you are around 12 south …

  • Ryan Rhodes

Amazing donuts. The vanilla cream was our favorite. The inside had stuffed cream and the donut itself was flaky with a perfect texture. Wide selection to choose from and the service was excellent.

  • Alexandra Dékány

Donuts are good but very sweet for my liking. The mocha flavored wasn’t too good but the pumpkin donut was great. The texture of the dough is definitely unique, it’s more like a thick croissant.

  • J Davis

We were very happy with our donuts. They were a combo of a donut and croissant- cronuts. I had the seasonal donut. Perfect afternoon snack.

I promised myself I was only going to eat one at dinner and save the rest. I ate all 3. They were scrumptious, each had amazing flavor, different mouth feels, and a lot of goodness.

  • Linh Tran

100 layers of goodness, what’s more to say! My favorite is the purist! Definitely bring friends so you can try a little bit of everything! They even have gluten free options!

  • Cha'vette Ware

I usually like my donuts plain but I was pleasantly surprised and obsessed with the one I got. I'm glad I wandered inside after being drawn to the vibrant playful exterior.

  • Rachel Davies

Cute little donut shop. They were good. But a bit pricey. But it's Nashville. Started to ask for a dozen then realized I wasn't at Dunkin! Ha!!! Settled for 6 $27!

  • Molly Schirmer

OMG! Literally the best donuts I have ever had, I tried the mini 100 layet donuts and the boston cream, highly recommend, cannot wait to visit again!

  • Emily

The 100 layers donuts/desserts are absolutely amazing. The vibe of the restaurant and outdoor seating area is the best!

  • Heli Kimhi

Everything we tried was delicious. Definitely worth the huge line. Was a bit bombed that no savory options were left.

  • Kennedy Ring

AMAZING doughnuts!!!!!! We loved our picks. A must try when you’re in Nashville. The vanilla was absolutely divine.

  • Richard Vickrey

Good flavors, but inconsistent. Two of the donuts were raw in the middle. They were certainly not worth the price.

  • Holly Collins

My husband and I agree- absolutely the best donuts we have ever had, and very sweet and friendly service!

  • Adrich83

Good doughnuts, higher in the price range. We enjoyed all but the gluten-free one which seemed too salty.

  • Pen P

So thankful they offer mini donuts to sample more flavours! Really enjoyed the Cuban coffee flavour

  • Leopoldo Juarez

Yum!!!! Best donuts I've ever had hands down. The place is very cozy and inviting
