I felt very invalidated and dismissed when I had a 2 minute phone call with a disability advisor from Flinders. When I disclosed further of my daily struggles and challenges, I felt let down and disappointed by Flinders as the disability advisor clearly had no idea or knowledge on neurodiversity, learning disabilities and how much it affects ones mental wellbeing and interferes with so many different aspects of day to day life. At a time when I was already feeling so low and deflated, all the 'disability advisor' did was add further invalidation by saying 'oh but everyone feels that way', 'the best and only option is to go part time' and supposedly my diagnosis (which is a documented disability) 'doesn't change anything' - none of which was helpful, supportive or productive. All I was hoping for was a little support, guidance or just a bit of direction and instead, I ended that call feeling so frustrated, let down and upset. I no longer feel comfortable seeking assistance nor is my access plan entirely suitable for my needs. It's very disappointing to know that other universities have better support and accommodation systems available for neurodivergent students but Flinders seems rather behind. Flinders is a great university but it's a shame that it's lacking in other areas - students certainly deserve more than a 2 minute pointless and dismissive phone call though.

My experience with Flinders across three degrees has been overall a positive experience looking back. I can imagine everyone's experiences will vary quite drastically and everyone's situations will be very different. Within the digital media departments the quality of the learning and the support that the academic staff give is outstanding. This has been my highlight at Flinders. Other departments weren't so supportive or up-to standard however. The public events through the student associations are a great way of creating a sense of community too and through Flinders you will definitely make new and lifelong friends. I can't comment too much on student services but I can imagine that international students would find navigating there way around and figuring out what to do and how to do it would be difficult. Developing strategies to more effectively combat this confusion would see a great improvement in student relations with the uni. But you will only get out of it what you put in. If you put yourself out there and really do your best then you will have a good time. I would recommend giving this institution a go. But my scope is quite limited.

This place needs to rid its title of "university" psh please!!! Flinders uni what a JOKE!! i cant even begin to state the cons and flaws about this place !! the study spaces are small and cramped and the tables and chairs are so uncomfortable, in particular the ones in connect and central library. Not to mention, one night i was staying here late until 1am and the Tavern was holding a karoake night...YES KAROAKE NIGHT...you could hear the music and drunk people singing all night. When i went down to reheat my food one of the drunks came down and started yelling out slurs to us and causing a scene. Some other things to note; the parking is expensive and limited, the study areas are terrible, the food or cafes are all overpriced and low quality and the exams are far too easy to pass in comparison to the other unis, you do not feel challenged at all. I am now at Adelaide Uni and WOW what a difference...never ever coming back to flinders. Please DO NOT!!! come here if you want a decent education

I have signed up for a Post Grad course, I have had continuous issues signing into the online student portal (FLO). I have had no support from Flinders to correct this issue. Phone line constantly says I have called outside of contact hours, no one has responded to my emails, online chat support or called back via the call back service. I am now two weeks behind in my courses because I cannot gain access to the course site. I am about to call Satac to workout how to withdraw as I cannot get in contact with the Uni itself. Having completed a BA online at UniSA I can confidently say that their platform is easier and more user friendly and their support team is prompt and efficient- Flinders is anything but and at this point sadly I don't see any reason to move forward. For the fee's I am paying I don't think expecting decent customer service and the ability to access my courses is too high of an expectation!

University is what you make it. Flinders University, when I was there, offered a great degree and numerous extracurricular activities. It grew my confidence and understanding of the world. The professional development programs are terrific and effective. The campus is beautiful and very safe. Once you get used to it, it is easy to navigate. Staff are generally helpful and considerate. It is very clean and there are many places to relax. If you are studying international relations, you need to be wary of bias. Some lecturers do have a certain political bias which can taint what you are learning. It does appear that the higher-level managers sit in an ivory tower. Student clubs are lively and there many ways that the university can help you financially or with food. Student governance is poor and they will only intervene if it is politically convenient for them to do so.

Disgusting college. Fails to listen to students request and aid in study. Nursing courses doesn't even have proper teaching materials. Even google and random online resources are better than the teaching staff. Reasons why #1 the teaching staff have thick accents and speak like the flash #2 their teaching methods are unprepared and as long as they finish talking they end the lectures that students have to sit through without breaks. Furthermore, since COVID19 it seems that the university has degraded in hygiene so much that it seems like promoting more illnesses to kill off the students is the goal. Dead bugs, dead mouse in the bushes, dust and cobwebs in classrooms, hallways and unsanitary toilets. The whole campus smells, but the first floor flinders connect was especially bad.

I'm not surprised with the negative reviews here but I wish I had checked them before enrolling at Flinders. I am doing the BSc. Nursing and after just a year I have seen everything from the worst teachers who show up 50 minutes late and leave 30 early to teachers who don't show up at all to management who wouldn't give a toss about what you think about their establishment. The students' opinions mean nothing to them. Of course, the worst part is that I am learning NOTHING about nursing!! I consider myself to be a smart person who works hard but nothing in the curriculum teaches me anything about nursing. It's all about academics and pretending to be smart but no information on basic nursing care! A year at Flinders has been the worst year in my entire life.

I wish, I could rate Flinders University 5 stars, but I was disappointed. I completed 2 degrees over four years and this allowed me to see gaps and deficits. I graduated with an opportunity to conclude with honours, however I was unable to accept this offer for other reasons. I can joyfully recommend Business Marketing at Flinders University. I had a brilliant experience, all concerns were handled professionally. Supports that had been given were genourous. Educators had time to explain and show expectations. Grades were consistent and accurate. I have a clinical diagnosis, Autism/ADHD. So this means my experience will be different to yours. I hope this review helps others. I am a regular visitor. One star for terrible access between the main University campus and the hospital (where there is also some University activities) for anyone who is mobility challenged (including disabled, parents with strollers, and even cyclists). The University seems to be completely unprepared to co-ordinate safe access between the two venues, and has held this position for many years. Making things even worse, is the fact that the University continually spends significant money to accommodate more private motor vehicles onto the site, instead of addressing the underlying problems and embracing a more sustainable future. I challenge Flinders University to respond to this review (in actions, not empty words).

  • Skippy

$40,000 piece of paper Enrolled in full time bachelor of psychology in 2022 and all my lectures and tutorials were online as old prerecorded content with faulty audio. My Research Methods 1 course would not stream and was not made available for download despite repeated requests. Not only all “online learning” but the system is such a chaotic mess that even a seasoned windows 98 guy can’t make sense of it e.g. the timetable does not display your timetable…how hard? I ended up learning more from Khan Academy and other free online resources so good luck competing.

  • Samprit GHOSH DASTIDAR

One of the worst university for studying nursing. Teachers and support staff are rude when student ask any verbal question. Email replies are within three days but they are sort of in general reply to any specific question. NO ONE at Flinders University especially in the nursing department cares about students. Most of them have taken their job for granted given the number of student enrolment in the nursing program. The only graduate quality that nursing students achieve from this university is anxiousness and depression due to staff/teacher bullying.

  • Ra Ra

UniSa and Adeladde Uni are way better. Filnders nursing course for an international student is terrible. Expensive fee, awful curriculum, poor teaching ability. Avoid student email or meetings, late and delayed dispatching for placement. You pay the school a lot of money, but if you complain to the staff about the problems you face, they avoid contacting you. They only care about paycheck, not the problems you face. Funny enough, many of the comments praising this place are the names of the faculty at this university haha.

  • Annette

Loved it and still loving it; high quality, conscientous teaching with a challenging curriculum that sets high standards for students. Plenty of student support both administratively and academically. Gracious grounds and landscaping, with new developments in its physical environment to be unveiled on campus in 2016. No shortage of coffee and plenty of harmonious areas for quiet study, along with a lively student body that provides endless options for keeping informed, connected and entertained generally.

Flinders university’s College of Science and Engineering has been one of the terrible experiences in my academic journey . Having studied in 2 other unis in Australia , I can say that this is not a place you would want to study. From units that are added to your course which literally has no value to lack of support and an attitude of “kicking the can down the road” is something that would never make me ever recommend this uni. There is literally no opportunity or support for international students.

  • Ester Tilinger

I've had to change my review to a lower rating because of the poor quality of the distance education program. There's not as much effort or time spent making the materials user friendly, leading me to believe the DE part of Flinders is only there to bring in money. My program was MSW and I wouldn't recommend it to others. Little improvement after many complaints by other students. Go elsewhere.

  • Y Liu

I didn't have good learning experience at Flinders University. Overall, poor course structure, poor learning online website lay out and poor management. One of the topic coordinator only present on week 1 and week 13. She appointed tutor to teach us during the week 2 to week 12. This tutor just read every slides and she even giggled when she misread the sentence.

  • Vaibhav Pohriyal

i only got three words to say : don't go there. Especially Indian students approaching for biotechnology....for a semester they just give assignments and don't help at all.....the PASS sessions were hyped as the movie Avatar. -except for one or two fellas the rest of the teaching department was booring, lacking enthusiasm...and just trying to kill time..

  • Christian del pozo

Good place to study, away from the city, very peaceful, full of green áreas and very big if you enjoy go for a walking. People are very friendly and helpful. The library is big and the view is amazing, you can watch beatiful sunsets while you are studying. Plus the quality is really good, and there is plenty space for parking. ️. …

  • H Macka

Busy little place, but well organised entry into Flinders, if you don't know your way around, find out first, don't do like I did and go the wrong road, 20km out of my way to turn around and come back to hospital. Likewise in Flinders its always good to know where you have to go, as it can get pretty confusing trying yo find the right clinic.

  • Keith Gellar

After nearly 3 years of studying Nursing here in Flinders, I have learned more about law, sociology, psychology and mental illness than anything about nursing!!! It's shocking to think that graduates go out there with such limited training and are expected to perform like experienced RNs! Terrible, Flinders is absolutely terrible at teaching.

  • J P

Do not recommend especially for international or minority students. Contacted a local Australian researcher about a potential project he had advertised himself listing no prerequisite subjects. I imagine he took one look at my name and decided to reject me stating a whole list of prerequisites that I apparently needed.

  • Claire Bearden

I would have given the university 5 stars until an incident this year. I was bullied by a topic coordinator and left without any support in a subject i paid over $1,000 for. It seems teachers are allowed to walk all over students without justification. I will update this review if there is ever a fair resolution.

  • Jayden Quinton

It is really interesting how many great scientists, lawyers, artists and other professionals have graduated from Flinders, which is such a beautiful university. It has a lake, a student hub and several dozen campus buildings full of professionals working to solve problems instead of make them.

  • Mary Sammut

I had day surgery 2/3. From beginning to end of my experience was excellent. Welcoming to different wards . Theatre staff and drs amazing to recovery. Everyone was warming and caring i couldn't be in saffer hands. Avery big warming thankyou to all. Kind regards mary.

  • yanda Kousuke

Low-quality teaching staffs and not much support for student with difficulty in learning It turns out that this Uni only wanna make money and don't care what gonna happen to their student after graduation at all, since the training for work enviroment is limited

  • Ben McIntyre

such a beatiful campus (both Tonsley and Bedford). More than half-way through my degree, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Staff are always accomodating, and willing to help. Students are also very approachable, and is a great place to make new friends.

  • Glenda Graham

The staff are absolutely amazing. Friendly & professional. The food was average. Some of the Dr's & nurses listened to me & helped me. Some of the nurses didn't seem to care. Some of the nicest Ppl were some if the patients, cleaners, meal & drink deliverers.

  • Paula Burton

I go to the Infusion Suite for chemotherapy, the nurses are so friendly and take the time to answer any questions and make me feel comfortable and calm. They really don't get paid enough. They are like my friends now. Provide sandwiches or Cafe downstairs.

  • Donald Keith

They don't care about teaching students, full of politics, NO standards whatsoever... I'm so appalled such a university has such a high reputation. P.S. This is related to the BSc. Nursing course. Fair warning: don't come here - go to UniSA or QUT.

  • Shannon Whitford

A university that is seemingly trying to put itself out of business by wasting money on pointless aesthetic while consistently falling short in their supposed goal of education due in no small part to a lack of funding and poor administration.

  • seerack24 Suchalad

You know it's a joke when you have to arrive at uni an hour early cause you know you're going to end up spending 30 minutes driving in circles around the entire campus trying to find a damn CAR PARK!?. I'm out, going to Adelaide in semester 2

  • Ralph Brew

Nice chips from the cafe. Only two students in the lecture "pooh!". What has this world come to that students don't come to practicum workshops?! But easier parking as as result. GUEST lecturers should automatically get free parking.

  • Kasia Robinson

Pretty campus except the buildings which look like they haven't been renovated since the 1960s. Plenty of parking at the top of the university (under solar panel shading). Security checks parking permits daily even on weekends.

  • Achievers Point

Flinders is a place for students who needs everything in their college life, studies, fun, sports, extra curricular activities. By studying here you can have a great personality and a bright future ahead. Go for it no doubt.

  • Liyana Farabi

The kindest admissions team ever! I made a few mistakes with my admissions process. Despite all my mistakes the head of admissions was very understanding. The team on the phones are also incredibly supportive and helpful.

  • MrChesterdog

My fiance got her first degree at flinders. Couldn't say a bad thing about the university. Also when I was at flinders private for surgery I had training rn's from flinders university tend to me and they were fantastic.

  • Jade Bruggeling

Some good courses some really bad. When you spend 3 years on a degree to then find out there are no recordings for the final year at the start of the final year is a huge blow to students who rely on the recordings.

  • J K

Would describe Flinders and it's campus as traditional and modern at the same time, kind of casual but still professional. For certain schools by reputation Flinders is the number 1 choice of uni for Adelaide.

  • Anna K

Great campus!!! However, I don’t recommend studying International Relations because the career outcomes are very bleak. I wish there was more support provided by the uni to transition into the workforce.

  • ROHIT Kumar

The most renowned University of Australia and it provides the higher level of education to learner's from whole around the world and it is public University of Flinders in Australia.

  • Andi Wahyudi

A university where I was doing my master degree in South Australia. Nice campus & its environment! Hopefully, I will have opportunities to visit it again & exploring Adelaide! …

  • Heather Porter

Still not enough disability parking, should be more on ground floor for less walking also slow with resault of tests eg scans ultra sounds and blood waited all day very frustrating

  • Gazza. NZ

The Flinders University Spring fest was an awesome experience with loads of things to do, shows to see and yummy food to eat. The weather was fantastic so a great day out overall.

  • ꧁Virtually Me꧂

There's a reason this university has such a LOW WORLD RANKING!!! SOOO much to complain about, but mostly, you'll be lucky to get a lecturer or tutor who speaks ENGLISH fluently!!!

  • Carrie

Unfortunately you are priced out of a university education in Australia. There is no assistance for students who don't have well off parents. An expensive waste of time.

  • Heidi Oldaker

Bariatric staff, Dietians, Nurse and Dr's ALL very professional and a delight to have been a patient with over the past 10 years...cant praise a great team enough.

  • Ljr R

I wasn't actually at the university. I was a FMC as a patient. The A@E STAFF NURSES AND DR'S WERE AMAZING. THEY SAVE MYSELF FOR GOING SEPTIC. THANKYOU EVERYONE.

Just spoke with Kaife (international student team) she was rude and wasn’t in a mood of helping a new student who is about to start.

  • M Adha

I love this campus. Modern. Friendly staff. Many international students from all over the world. And very very good facilities.

Racial discrimination is deeply rooted here, all they try to do is make money from international students. I'm ashamed of them.
