Ordered the green chili cheeseburger with onion rings and a BLT with fries. THE AOLI IS LIFE. Whoa did I just yell there??? I did for the AOLI! This is the second time I’ve eaten at this restaurant, first time dining in & the dine in experience is a must normally I post pictures of the interior. I’m sure others have posted it but you have to go in person at least once.. the food is 5/5 my “well done” burgers seasoning was so good almost like I made it at home with extra pepper and enough salt, the onion rings were golden, crispy, & non-oily which were best onion rings of my life!! And as for the BLT it’s 5/5 I’m not sure how they have the best bacon in the world in there but they do. And again the aïoli I would encourage to get an additional side of it as you are going to want more for each bite you take. OH! I almost forgot about the “Red Stuff” I forgot to take a picture of it but we ordered a large which came out to $5.95 and my honest review I would say 3/5 because I personally don’t like sodas, the flavor was really good however, as described it’s heavy on the juice side with cranberry although it doesn’t taste 100% like cranberry juice. If there were refills on this red juice for $5-6 it would be worth it in my opinion. We also had their double chocolate indulgence slice of cake that we got for free, joining their frequent flyer app and redeeming it while making a purchase which I would highly recommend that as well as it is not too sweet, but very chocolatey!

The staff seemed kind of down - I don't think I saw a single smile the whole time I was in line or being served. I came to grab a small savory snack during my bike ride, only to find that flying star has discontinued soups of the day, so I could not get the cup of soup that I'd been craving for the last couple miles - the alternative option was a big, loaded bowl of caldo (double the food and double the price of the wee cup I wanted). I ended up ordering a grilled cheese (a poor substitute for a cup of soup) with a side salad. The grilled cheese is okay (just a lot greasier than I was craving) but the side salad (full of gross discolored and wilted leaves) came loaded with several very strongly flavored Kalamata olives. I've never heard of olives on a side salad and so didn't ask for a salad without them - my nasty mistake - they totally ruined the salad. Some dressing might have covered the flavor after I picked all of the olives off, but sadly, the salad was dry. What a disappointing visit. I know I'm not the target demographic, as I wasn't coming for a large meal, but I was really looking forward to a quick savory bite at a formerly favorite eatery. It's a good thing that Il Vicino across the street still has soup and salad.

Food CAN be delicious and worth the cost. But often you will get cold eggs or inconsistent plates. One day you may come and get a big plate of delicious food and another day order the same thing and get half the size you you got the last visit. When I inquired I was told they have downsized on their serving amount, but not their prices. New addition 11/9/23 We have this place another try (we often go here actually) and the same situation happened today. Ordered something we ordered many time before and it came out a lot smaller today then it did three days ago. When asked for the manager to assist he would not. He also charged me for a meal that we returned and requested a refund. He told us the his system wasn’t working and he couldn’t refund the money. He didn’t offer something else to eat or even a gift card for a future visit. He kept the food and my money. This manager is named Mike and he has been unpleasant and unprofessional on numerous occasions. Of course I will call in the morning to talk with the GM and make sure I get a refund for something we didn't get to eat.

The interior of this place is starting to feel old, dirty and dated. Seems like every time I sit at a table I can feel the grease in the restaurant fixtures and surfaces. The chairs and other seating surfaces are worn out and should be replaced. The food, while good, is overpriced for what it is. The food is often dry and undersauced. Parking is difficult as the lot is often full at this location. I'm becoming ever more annoyed at the out of control tipping culture fast casual restaurants now expect. Overall I think it's OK but there's so much obnoxious factor here I don't enjoy coming here as much as I used to. I think the menu desperately needs some newer options. I'd also move the soda Machines out from behind the counters to be self service as that would help with traffic flow. If you can't afford to pay your staff what they deserve and demand tips it's time to revisit your menu pricing.

I always heard good things about this place but I won't be in a rush to return. We ordered a Green Chile Cheeseburger and a Chicken Salad Sandwich. I ordered a beer, and saw the girl running around since she couldn't find us, which was a sign of things to come. We waited at least 30 minutes for our food, if not longer and when it finally came out, we had 3 different servers try to bring us food. My burger was fine, but were given a Chicken Sandwich with a salad instead of the Dilled & Chilled Chicken Salad with coleslaw we ordered. At this point we were just hungry and kept the food. The burger was fine, but nothing really out of the ordinary. I've had better elsewhere. The Chicken Sandwich was unbelievably bland, no sauce unless we paid extra apparently. Overall, the food felt kind of pricey for what we got, although the quality of ingredients was there, the taste itself was unremarkable. The service is what really killed it for me. Maybe I'll give it another try another time, but I'm in no rush to come back.

We went for an early dinner, which was lovely as it was quiet at first. One of the dishes we tried was "Hidden Treasure." The chicken and vegetables were tender and the sauce was mouthwatering! There was a little heat closer to the end of the meal. It was a plentiful portion and I should have taken some home, but it was just too good! My husband tried the "Stewpot Chicken," another excellent menu choice. There was a good balance of chicken and veggies with a creamy sauce. It comes with a biscuit on top that is best mixed into the sauce. We topped it off with iced tea. I wish we would have had room for dessert, but the meals were filling. It was a bit pricey, but for a nice meal, it was all worth it!

What a disappointment today. Usually, my mom & I really like this location. Maybe they have a new chef who's learning the recipes. Today, the key lime pie, usually deliciously tart, was bland. Like it was made with mayonnaise and the lemon forgotten. Such a disappointment, especially at $8 for a tiny slice! My egg salad was almost too salty to eat - adding a lot of mustard helped - and my mom's grilled cheese & fries were lukewarm. Not at all worth the over $40 price tag today. Hopefully, taking this leftover pie home, to make a smoothie with banana, lemon, lime, & and strawberry will salvage it. We hate to waste food.

Great food. All of our food was spot on. Staff is very friendly. The only reason for the 3 star for service is a staff member came by to grab our try that we carried out drinks and cookies out on. He dumped the paper trash, sweetener and straw wrappers, on the table and took the tray. Otherwise a very good experience. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Pet friendly outside. Kid friendly with kid menus with crayons.

Every Flying Star I've been to has a slightly different aesthetic, but all share the same open, airy, welcoming vibe. Food is always delicious, and I love that I can get breakfast all day! I'm gluten-free, and there are numerous options for those with food allergies and sensitivities, as well as delicious vegetarian and vegan options. Satellite Coffee is out of this world, and the petio is always welcoming to your 4-legged, fury family members.

Outstanding offerings. I've been here a few times for breakfast, which the offer all-day. They have a varied menu with plenty to choose from. I particularly enjoy the green-chile Turkey patties that come as an option with their Ranch Breakfast items. The bakery items include bagels, muffins, scones, Danish and coffee cake. The last time I was there they had a delightful hamantashen offering. My female companion loves their high-protein bagel: 25-grams of multigrain bagel, pepper jack cheese, hard boiled egg, avocado and veggies. You order at the counter and they delivery it to your table. Refills on their flavorful coffees are self-service. There is seating both inside and outside.

I’m not sure if I’ve just gone at terrible times, but the past three times I’ve come here the food is terrible. We dined in today for lunch and I got the Mac n cheese and my coworker got cauliflower wings. We placed the order and waited 45 minutes before our food came out, and it was cold and not good at all. My Mac n cheese had barely any sauce on it and was salty and cold. My coworkers wings were cold and soggy. I think I’m giving up on Flying Star which makes me sad because I used to come here all the time as a teen.

I ordered the Chinese crunch salad. It says chopped fresh Asian vegetables.. apparently the only Asian vegetable in there was possibly bok choi, though it was hard to tell if it was plain old lettuce or a bok choi. Edamame is an Asian vegetable but you dont chop it. Purple cabbage is not a Asian vegetable. Additionally, the seasoned grilled chicken was about a tablespoon's worth. About 1/2 a teaspoon of shivered almonds and the wanton's were merely a garnish. The dressing was good but this alad was not worth $16.50.

[Update]. Really? $8.50 for a pastrie or pie? Its kind of insulting. This place is always busy! The food is good, the ambience is friendly and inviting. My only problem is the pricing. Although they have no problem getting people including me to pay, I think they are overpriced significantly. $40.00 for a breakfast burrito with bacon, and a fish and chips order. It's kind of rediculous really. Perhaps that's why I don't visit often. Came today at the request of my grandson. I would recommend, but I would definitely warn people of the potential cost.

The restaurant has a nice, authentic environment inside. The menu has great, tasty and healthy options. The two birds and a biscuit was tasty and fulfilling! The coffee is nice and strong. Unfortunately the rise and shine sandwich was flavorless and the sausage patty was under cooked. I didn't finish it. The blue berry muffin and scones was so good! The cashier Dominique was (I'm assuming) in a bad mood, didn't greet us or smile once. Maybe I'm expecting too much from servers now a days but the guy next to her taking orders was chatting with customers and friendly.

My husband has celiac, and we accidentally misread something that came with toast. Not only did they remake the meal, Austin reassured us it was not a problem. They remade the entire meal, wiping the grill and making sure there was no gluten. The cook said his daughter is allergic to strawberries and that he’s glad we said something. They wouldn’t even let us pay for the second omelet. I have never seen such excellent service and kindness. Thank you!!!

If I could I would give them 3.5 stars. The staffer who took our order was very nice but the wait time to receive the order was a bit too long. I had their signature Mac and Cheese with Crispy Tender. The Mac and Cheese was good but some of it was cool and not warm. The chicken tender was crispy but tasteless. You only received one tender which I was a bit surprised. The Rancheros were tasty and the red sauce was good. The blueberry pancakes were a bit overcooked. The French Toast was nice with fresh whip cream.

It's ok. You pick your food, pay for it and they bring it to your table. The food was cold, an the plates were hot. I got huevos rancheros, and the eggs were runny, and tortillas were hard . They don't have a kids menu, just FYI. They offer their whole menu, and we got chicken tenders for the little one. They were good. Lots of chicken lightly breaded. We asked about refills and had to get back in the checkout line to get a refill.

Most of the time, the food is very good and the majority of the cashiers love their job as this comes through with a great smile and quick wit. If the food is not right, they are quick to rectify and make sure you're satisfied. Would like to see some additional breakfast options, but for a quick stop or even a laid back brunch, this location has service dialed in well. Pet friendly!

Flying Star Cafe is always a good idea! We weren't sure what to eat but the beauty of Flying star is that they have a great selection of food that can satisfy any particular taste. This time I had the Rosemary Chicken Risotto. It was delicious, and a great sized portion. I ordered a side of Sour dough toast because they have amazing bread and it went well. The Risotto was cooked perfectly and the asparagus was a great accompaniment. They are usually busy but they know how to handle a line. The experience was great and we will be back.

Chicken Tenders were delicious! Served nice and hot with french fries and coleslaw. Had a choice of dipping sauce which I got ranch and a second sauce of Bbq. Yummy! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely coming back again!

I like places like this where you order at the front and they bring it to you. You get refills as needed by yourself. We got the half ranch breakfast and a burrito. I enjoyed the ranch breakfast, but the burrito was a bit odd. The cheese that they use tastes like some kind of Velveeta, which is not really what I would like to have on a green chili burrito...or any for that matter. But all together our experience was good. The atmosphere is nice and we enjoyed our time talking while drinking coffee after our meal.

  • Darlene Gonzales

I was somewhat disappointed the meal I ordered was missing a certain condiment & was told the restaurant ran out of the condiment when our food was delivered. It would have been helpful at time of ordering of the missing condiment & I might have changed my order. Otherwise, our plates were very tasty.

We loved Flying Star but lately it has been disappointing. When I spend $17.00 for a salad, I expect it to have quality ingredients and contain everything it should. This cobb salad only contained lettuce, egg, and scraps of chicken. Got my money back. Update: contacted Flying Star as they requested and included photos. It’s been two weeks with absolutely no response. Hmmm.

I recommend this place. For my budget it's a bit pricey. However I cannot deny that the food and especially the desserts are very tasty. The Staff is fine. They could perhaps be friendlier, but it could be because it was extremely busy when I went. It was extremely busy and there just wasn't enough parking and not a lot of people being courteous when trying to get in and out of parking. This isn't necessarily due to the actual restaurant, but for my experience I'd like to avoid it all together.

  • bobbydelatorre

Great food and great atmosphere!! Too bad the counter girl was really rude! Our coffee mugs were dirty and we asked if we could get new ones and with a huff she took the dirty ones and gave us new ones half way full!? We asked why, and she said refills can be done at the self serve station. This wasn’t a refill it was the first cup! We didn’t let her ruin our morning so we walked away.

A variety of choices. A little bit of everything to choose from. Clean place. Friendly, fast service. Chicken mac and cheese pretty good. Needed to be creamer and hotter. Too much broccoli. Not somewhere i was go very often.

The Athena salad is a solid choice. Although I was pleasantly surprised to see the wide, vegetarian-friendly menu, I stuck to what I know! Great coffee, great atmosphere and a fulfilling brunch.

Cute cafe with counter service. Had the burger with bacon, pretty good. Fries were good. It's not the best burger in town, but decent.

We had a good time here. The servers are friendly and the food is delicious. I had the fish tacos and they had a good, spicy flavor. The prices are a bit high but not unreasonable.

Biked in from the River Trail for lunch. She had the Seaside Citrus Salad, I had Two Birds and a Biscuit. Both excellent with great service. Very good Chai Tea and well iced water.

Hands down the best avocado toast ever. Bacon lovers rejoice! Best bacon slices you will find anywhere! Very open and with lots of outdoor and indoor seating. A must see!
