"I had to say I was disappointed with the dining experience"
"Been a total of three times, the first time was good had the malatang, there was an abundance of ingredients, very clean environment, however the soup base was very sweet and not very spicy, it’s more towards the healthier tasting malatang"

"Absolutely love the food here, it’s always made well"
I had to say I was disappointed with the dining experience. After reading all these amazing comments, we had our hopes up that finally there is a good malatang place in west suburbs. When choosing and picking ingredients, I saw flies around the mussels which was not pleasant. One of us order the dry pot and I ordered malatang. It is weight charging system - depends on how heavy your bowl is. We spent about $54 bucks in total just for a quick dinner eats, which is pretty exp, considering you can get a grilled burger or other food around the area for around $20. I would rather top an extra $20 for a decent hot pot. The floor plan is set up awkwardly. If you are new to this, you won’t be able to understand how to start and where to start. It doesn’t cost much to make tasty soup. That being said, this is a new store and there is also hiccups in the beginning. I would not recommend the place for its current dining experience.
Been a total of three times, the first time was good had the malatang, there was an abundance of ingredients, very clean environment, however the soup base was very sweet and not very spicy, it’s more towards the healthier tasting malatang. Second time was just ok, tried the laksa and dry wok. Flavours were just ok, a little bland. Third time we order a large dry wok around $50 worth, however it was super super salty, almost inedible, it was a busy night so maybe that’s why quality was bad. We ate a few bits and took the rest home. I went to the counter and told server that the dry pot was extremely salty, she explained that the staff meal was salty that day too, the chef used too much base and next time to let her know before to be more careful….. to this explanation I was speechless, she didn’t offer exchange or discount. I won’t be back, the product is just too inconsistent.
A GO TO PLACE WHEN YOU'RE HUNGRY AND WANT THE BEST SOUP ON THE PLANET. Fresh & Hot had a great spiced Laksa soup with lots of choices for meat, greens as well as noodles. When you go in, it's always self serve, so you get to control how much you're going to eat (make sure you don't put to much as I did...) Once food is in the bowl, you get to choose the base soup at the counter and pay. They measure the cost by the amount of weight you out in the bowl. Taste of base soup was fantastic and I couldn't finish it all as I put too much noddles in lol. Enjoy it guys.

Came here with my partner and baby. The place is family friendly with nice and clean high chairs! I've been dying to try Malatang and this place did not disappoint. As you walk in the place is super modern, spacious and clean. Then you can choose from a huge selection of fresh ingredients, from seafood (even crab!), meats, veggies and noodles - take it to the counter and they cook it up for you, easy! We both got the Sichuan broth and it was delicious! I also love the little pots they're served in Overall we really loved it and will come back regularly. Highly recommended
Absolutely love the food here, it’s always made well. Only downside is it’s very hit and miss. As this is a self serve & pick your own ingredients, you could come on Monday and have full variety and choice, come back the next day and only half the options. Be prepared to wait… on average a 25-30 minute cooking time after you order. We’ve been coming for a while and the staff used to be great! Unfortunately not so lucky now - do recommend but not if you are on a time crunch.

Waited 35+ minutes for a dry wok. Had two separate dishes and only got one of the meals after going up the the counter to check why the wait was so long. The food had been sitting on the counter for 10 minutes and was already cold. Dry was flavorless and over cooked to the point the meal was mushy and gross. Pretty sure they served my meal to another customer. Got a refund and counter lady tried to give me attitude for it. Very unhygienic and always using dirty utensil when cooking.
This hotpot place is so underrated! Awesome food choice, delicious selections for types of soup/wok dry, and to top it off they do not have minimum weights needed. The nearby zhang liang takes a big L for asking for unreasonable minimum weights for wok dry and tasted meh. Malatang for the win!

My go to Malatang spot - great flavours for both the soup and dry wok, and a great selection. I'm obsessed with their chilli oil too, but it would be good if they also had spring onions and coriander in their toppings bar. @rolgaeats on TikTok and Instagram :)

Really great little place. Lots of different add ins to choose from, very quick service. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner was delicious. Only thing would be an improvement would be if most ingredients for add in were labelled, some are unfamiliar or look similar so that would be helpful. Otherwise, it was wonderful - can't wait to go back again. Dry wok was fantastic.

This place is great. You select all of your ingredients and then pay via weight. Noodles or rice. Mild or spicy. Soup or dry wok. Are all options. They're quick for both eat in and takeaway. Not great for allergies, due to how the food is cooked.

Making your hot pot is very fun. However, I would like to have good suggestions since it was my first time there. I managed to make something very tasty.

A treat of my day. Love it. Medium size, open style asian caffe with a "hot pot" buffet. Fresh food, nice young guys at the counter. Tasty as... very tasty. Just one tip - don't stuff your bowl as a starving gorilla. Put a little bit and enjoy your 12 bucks dinner.

First go today, 7 Oct. for lunch. After pigging out on malatang when I was teaching in northern China, I was looking forward to trying out Hot n Spicy. It was pretty good, authentic, and with the traditional flexibility of adding your preferred sauces to suit. Nick was very helpful in his guidance and advice. Thanks Nick, I'll be a regular.
A great local Ma La Tang restaurant. Definitely one of the fastest service we have had for noodle hot pots. It was super quick and the soup was delicious and piping hot. There's a good variety of noodles and fillings to choose from. They also have decent amount of seating. Lots of free condiments and bowls available for sharing. More
you get to choose out of 3 bases and then build your own bowl which gets weighed. this always makes me nervous but it's very well-priced. it would be great if they had labels on each of the ingredients. I thought I had grabbed tofu which turned out to be some sort of fish cube instead haha. plenty of seating inside and outside.
Bowls were not dry, Szechuan soup base was mild & we had to keep putting chilli oil to give it more spice, the ingredients could have been on the stove for longer. Overall though, the price is very good; we got plenty for what we paid & there’s a nice array of sauces available.

Fresh & hot indeed! All the ingredients were very fresh including the seafood. We tried the dry wok and laksa and were quite happy with both. Although the serves were quite large, so next time we might just add more ingredients and get 1 dish between two people. Gets busy around peak times so come early if you can.
When we processing our payment, a group of people they want to pay together. And the staff then told us need to waiting to pay after all of them finish selecting and purchasing food. It takes us over than 10 minutes.

Just next door to the Toowong Village. Pretty cheap price compared to other Malatang I’ve had. The dry wok is significantly spicier than others, but is a must-have for spicy lovers :D

Good Malatang place with a wide selection of ingredients to pick and choose. The malatang base is tasty and not very spicy, and there milder soup options like chicken broth or laksa.

This place is so good. I'm not a fan of malatang after trying ones at Sunnybank but this place is now my go eat out. The food is amazing with the laksa soup being the go to choice. The atmosphere vibe is great!
I quite like it. You always end up spending more than you plan to though haha what they need is more variety with their soups (there is only 3 or 4 types) and then it will be great.
Casual service, inability to remember customer notes, resulting in food allergies, not recommended, and the restaurant environment is much worse than when it opened a year ago More
Dry wok tastes good and you have a range of ingredients to choose. But there could be some labels indicating what the ingredients are as it's hard to tell for many of them. More
Great vibe here, owners speaks great english so explaining the options was no trouble at all. The staff were nice and the food was great. Recommend trying the dry wok dishes.
The price is good. Malatang is my fav one.

Absolutely amazing. Great concept where you can fill a bowl with whatever you like and it gets made into a stir fry or soup. Great service and quality.

Food is great and tasty. Portions and pricing is reasonable. Would be 5 stars if there was labels on the ingredients. More
Delicious, quick, cheap, nice deck - been trying to find a soup place for ages and so glad this is right near my work :)
I love this place - choose delicious morsels and they'll make them into soup or stir fry. An absolute winner
Pay by the kilo. About $36 a kilo. Reasonable food. Ingredients need more labelling.
