Customers for Life I recently decided to get back into cycling after many years away from the sport. I went to Ancaster Cycle to look for a new road bike. I dealt with the owner Trevor, who was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Trevor took the time to find out what my needs were and he actually listened. I had been to a few other shops before going to Ancaster Cycle and most were not concerned about my needs. They just wanted to sell me any bike, likely the one they needed to get rid of, or at least that's how it felt. Trevor genuinely cared and you cant fake genuine. I ended up buying a new Giant Defy Advanced which I absolutely love. They took the time to set-up the bike properly for me and even changed the stem to accommodate for my need to be more upright due to my back. As a result, I have never been so comfortable on a bike. I was so happy with the entire experience I bought my wife a Giant Invite road bike and I brought my kids bikes in for tune-ups. The service I experienced with Trevor and his team is the best I have had from any retailer in years. Business is actually not that complicated you simply need to take care of your customer and they will come back. Thanks to Trevor and his great team for the great work. I have recently moved back to the area and was in need of a bicycle shop so I decided to give Ancaster Cycle a try. I needed to get my road bike prepared and tuned for an upcoming Italy trip. I was immediately greeted by their friendly staff who, despite being obviously busy that day, took the time to tune my bike and make the necessary adjustments in preparation for Italy, even though I didn't have an appointment. While there, I also purchased a new mirror - the type that attaches to the helmet. While cycling in Italy, I realized that my road bike was still in need of some adjustments and also for some unknown reason, the mirror part attached to the stem snapped off. After returning home, I attended Ancaster Cycle for the further adjustments and explained the situation regarding this recently purchased mirror. Without hesitation, Trevor made sure that the adjustments were quickly made to my road bike and also gave me a new mirror. Both at no additional cost. Prior to attending, I had already assumed that I would have to argue my case and at the very least was likely going to have to eat the cost of the mirror. I am so pleased to see that Ancaster Cycle stands by its service and products. Thank you Trevor for your understanding and quick resolution and ensuring customer satisfaction. COVID-19 EXPERIENCE. In March of 2021 I was searching around for a new bike. Knowing there was an incredible shortage of bikes, I was calling/emailing most bike shops around the GTA, Hamilton and KW area. When I emailed Ancaster Cycle, I received a response within 2 days from Trevor that said he had the exact model that I wanted on order. Via email, I was able to confirm the bike and put a $100 deposit down to secure it. I was told it would be approx. a 5 - 7 week wait, but that they would call me when it came in. Exactly like they said, in the expected time frame, I got a call that my bike was in and I could come down to the shop and pick it up! Everything was done according to COVID-19 protocol - all curbside pickup, no entering the store. But when I picked it up everything was super smooth. I gave the lady working outside my name, they went in and had my bike within a few minutes. Because the seat was still a tad tall for me, they were incredibly kind and cut off a couple of inches to make sure it was comfy. My fiance and I were interested in buying a few other things and the lady went into the store to grab a few items and bring them back outside for us to try. A really fantastic experience. I would absolutely recommend. Smooth and easy - and now I'm super happy with my new bike!

Didn't have a bad nor the best experience with this shop. I ordered a helmet online and my email receipt stated I would be notified when it arrived in store. Never received a call or email, I had to follow up with Ancaster cycle. Their online store is great and has a good selection of bike stuff available. Their online store is really good in fact and this is where I can give Ancaster cycle the credit! But the follow up and letting me know the item was received would have made the experience much better. When I called the shop, the gentleman that answered the phone sounded miserable and very monotone. It's nice when your greeted with some enthusiasm but this was not the case. The worst part was that he said Ancaster Cycle called to let me know my helmet arrived in store when I never received a call, email or voicemail. I hope Ancaster Cycle reads this review because a good suggestion would be for them to have a text message service that customers can opt-in letting you know your items has arrived in store for any online orders. It was my first and most likely my last experience with Ancaster Cycle.

This review is about a specific shopping experience. We purchased a rear bike rack for our car. The staff member was extremely helpful and helped to ensure that we bought the right rack for our car. However, he failed to ask an important question - what type of bikes do you have? (I had recently purchased my bike from Ancaster Cycle) This was important because we didn’t know we would need to purchase tube tops for our bikes. Because our bikes do not have a straight bar, the tube top is necessary to mount the bikes securely on the rack. (An additional expense that we weren’t prepared for, but willing to accept.) We were disappointed when we attempted to take our bikes out the next day and realized the issue. The staff should be aware of this issue and advise customers accordingly, considering that you are a full service bike shop. We have been happy customers of Ancaster Cycle for many years and will still continue to be, we just felt that this was important to share.

Terrible experience. Not only did they break some of my bike components, they also made me pay them for it. Brought my bike in to get a spoke replaced. A week later I received an email indicating that they had broken a component and I had to source it. (I can't comprehend how a bike shop can unintentionally breake components and ask the customer to source them and pay for them and charge for the labor to break the parts). I found these items available online with next day delivery. I came in to pay for the work that was done and take my bike with the broken components. I was told I needed to pay for the full service even though components were broken and the bike was not rideable. I was yelled at, I was called a thief. The person I was dealing with asked another employee to call the police and threatened to take me to court. After continiously getting yelled at I ended up paying and getting a bike with broken parts.

Superior customer service from Ancaster Cycle and their knowledgable, helpful staff is why I purchased my bicycle from them and continue to have it serviced there even though it means a 75 minute drive for me. Shops in my immediate area had little to no interest in helping me learn more about a particular bicycle that wasn't in stock in their store already. Was hesitant to make my purchase through them just from specs online. Lucky for me to learn about Ancaster Cycle from another of their satisfied clients. Trevor patiently provided me with information, initially over the phone, to all my questions. Went to Ancaster Cycle for a visit to learn more and discovered each of his staff were also well informed and excited about what they do. Happily ordered my bicycle through Ancaster Cycle , love every moment riding it and wouldn't consider letting anyone else service it. Thank you to Trevor and all the staff!

Trevor and the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. I have bought a couple of bikes from them over the past few years and one the reason I go back there is the service doesn't stop the second you walk out the door with your bike, they have been very helpful with upgrades and accessories to my bikes. As my ridding ability and terrain has changed They have helped me figure out which bike will work best for my needs. I travel a lot and one of the services that they offered me was to box my bike so I can take it on the plane and that helps ensure my bike gets to my destination without damage. Ancaster cycle has great mechanics every time I have been there they did a great job with my bikes. However, unfortunately I have had some bad experiences with customer service, on more than one occasion I have received snarky comments such as “are you sure you have enough Money for this” (likely because I am 17)and in response to a debit machine not refunding a second inner tube that was accidentally added I was told “If it doesn’t work this time you are the owner of two inner tubes” as a paying customer I have the right to not feel alienated when I walk in the store. These negative experiences have made me not want to return and I will be taking my business else where.

Fantastic service! We drove up from North Carolina for the Ride2ConquerCancer and had a mishap with one of the bikes on the highway. The bike needed a new rear wheel, tire and saddle, and we needed it right away for the ride the next day. The people at Giant Ancaster could not have been more friendly, knowledgeable and eager to help us. I called the store, told them my predicament, and they told me to come in and they would get my bike fixed that day. We had barely returned to our hotel after dropping it off when I received a text telling me it was ready. The price charged for the parts and labor was very reasonable.

I have now purchased 3 bikes from Ancaster cycle, my last years road bike purchase was the Giant “Liv Avail” LOVE my bike ‍♀️ never disappoint. Amazing shop! Great selection of high quality bicycles and gear. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and has excellent customer service skills to boot. Jack did an excellent job helping me pick out my mountain bike, pedals, helmet, car rack. All of which I have been very happy with. The bike came with shop warranty and maintenance for 1 year which has come in handy as I did unfortunately have a part on my bike needed to be replaced under warranty. The was no hassle and I had it back the next day. Trevor's expertise, riding advice and patience in helping a new rider has been muchly appreciated.

We've bought new and used bikes, and have always been satisfied. For repairs, Trevor and the staff go above and beyond to ensure everything is fixed right. It's also great to see Ancaster Cycle give back to the community -- the store has supported many local children's activities including Hamilton Speed Skating Club, Theatre Ancaster, Ancaster Minor Hockey, and the list goes on.

I had always depended on Ancaster Cycle for bike parts and services whenever I need them. It is not as often since I purchased a great bike from them 10 years ago. The service is fast, very polite and helpful staff and their charge for bike tune up is quite reasonable considering that my bike looks and rides great after every service. I moved down to Stoney Creek which is a bit of a drive compared to when I was in the Ancaster area but I certainly don’t mind driving down to Ancaster Cycle every time my bike needs some TLC. Called the store to inquire about a EMTB that showed up on the online store. Staff very helpful in the process of holding the bike until I could get to the store to check it out. I live a fair distance from Ancaster. When I arrived at the store they were in the middle of renovations. In spite of all the activity the staff was very helpful. When I decided to purchase the bike they had it set up and prepped right away so I wouldn’t have to make the drive a second time to pick up the bike. Great experience… thanks to everyone at Giant Ancaster.

Great bike shop! Trevor and his team go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. I've bought several bikes/gear and service from them over the years and been completely satisfied. I've also had a few emergency fixes performed by them on my commute home from work. Highly recommended for anything bike related. 2019 update: They stand behind the bikes and products they sell. A recent bike purchase had a minor issue and they ordered and replaced the part with no issues and got me back riding.

I bought cycling shoes for my wife who works out on a spin bike in her gym. I did not know much about cycling shoes. Thankfully for Alex he was very knowledgeable and explained everything that we needed to Know to make a purchase that we would be happy with. My wife loves the shoes that we bought thanks to the friendly patient and knowledgeable service that we received. The store looks bright and clean. I would like to spend more time the next time that I am in.

I have been using Ancaster Cycle for well over a decade. As my kids were growing up and transitioning through types of bikes, we have found that Trevor gave us the best advice and service of all the different bike shops we had visited. I recently purchased my first proper MTB from Ancaster cycle. Trevor helped me pick out and order a bike based on the type of riding I planned to do and also get the size I need based on my height. When the bike ready to be picked up, Dan was helping me set up and explain the basic principles of the air fork based on my weight. I am very satisfied with the service Trevor and Dan provided even during this lock down.

My wife and I decided to buy some bikes and Trevor was kind enough to spend alot of time with me on the phone explaining what we need in terms of sizes and bike style etc. He made this a really great experience and i would not hesitate to recommend Ancaster Cycle to anyone. Service was amazing! From the initial phone call to the store (to put the bike on hold) to driving in from London for purchase. The sales guy "Dan" was super helpful and patient (even when I changed my mind and picked a different bike). We added a few things (kickstand, odometer etc) and he had my bike ready to roll and out the door in no time. Would definitely make the drive to Ancaster for any future purchases.

I’ve taken my bike a few times for service at Giant Ancaster and they’ve always done some stellar work! Also, most recently I stopped by to get a new bolt for my bike seat support and even though I didn’t have the bike with me, Dan and his team made sure I was taken care of and had the right bolt for my bike. Trevor is an absolute gem! Got the bike I wanted and he took the time to explain everything to me and get it set up specifically for me! Even helped me load it in to my car! I can already tell that servicing with them will be a breeze and I highly recommend dealing with them! I shopped around and did not receive service anywhere near the level that Ancaster offers. The biggest thing that keeps me coming back to Ancaster Cycle is that, when you ask a question, they aren't judgmental and know what they're talking about, and try to help you understand the differences between their products. When you ask a question about something you don't know about, they aren't chewing you out for not knowing. Prices seem fair, and the service is always good. No complaints.

Trevor and his team are incredible! I have been taking my bikes and my daughters bikes to them for several years and they continue to exceed my expectations. Recently my daughter was having back issues while riding. A quick trip to Ancaster Cycle found us asking Trevor to help. He made an adjustment of my daughters handle bar position and the back pain was gone!

The people at Ancaster Cycle are great to deal with. They did all the tweaks on my bike I asked for, and they had the job done exactly when they said they would. I really like the way they notify customers that the job was complete and the bike was ready for pickup i.e they contact you by phone AND by text. I would recommend this bike shop to anyone.

This shop is awesome! The young staff is really enthusiastic about the service and quality products. The owners are in all the time and that makes a huge difference to how you feel when you are being taken care of. I've had the best experience in store and on rides with these guys. I might even need to ask Dan to be in my wedding party he's so great!

Just had my second experience buying a bicycle from Ancaster Cycle. Staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable (and patiently answered my many email questions when buying a bike for my son during COVID19 closures!). Online ordering was easy and quick, pickup was a breeze and they made adjustments to make sure the bike fit right. Highly recommend!

Definitely worth the drive to ancaster cycle, We're 1.5 hours away. I called ahead. They had the bike I wanted and held it for me. Dan and trevor were awesome to deal with. I brought my bike in to have my new derailleur connected and I had a flat front tire which needed a new tube. Trevor took the time to explain to me why the derailleur I had was the wrong one for my bike. He got me the right derailleur for a good price and all the work was completed ahead of the date they initially gave me.

My wife purchased a bike for me from this location. Not only were the staff friendly, they made the entire process from start to finish smooth as can be during this crazy time. We ended up adding something to our order last minute and they were great about accommodating our request. Definitely recommend this business !

Such a good store. I buy almost all of my cycling gear here and get all of my bike maintenance/repairs done here. The staff are helpful and friendly, and not once have I felt pressured to make a decision here. I have been coming here since I was a little kid and will keep doing so.

Dan did a great job of checking my Ultegra to ensure it wasn't in need of being replaced based on the recall notice. He suggested changing the lower bracket because the bearings felt a little rough. I'm glad I did. No more clicking noise and a smoother pedal effort.

The products at Giant Ancaster are great and the prices are competitive, but more importantly, the staff are attentive, friendly and the service is quick (i.e. bike tune ups, products being ordered & arriving quickly). I won't take my bike anywhere else.

I really appreciated the service and recommendations to fix the front wheel bearing assembly for my ageing bike. The staff was very knowledgeable about the different options available to fix the problem and provide cost benefits to repair vs replace.
