"Absolutely love it!! A massive area for dogs to run and play off their leads, it's fantastic ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lots of people take their dogs to this awesome park, and I'm pretty sure that there's even a smaller fenced off area inside the park, possibly for the doggos who like to be naughty and roam around"
"Gorgeous off leash park with a lot of space to run around"
"Great park for those with dogs"
"They fixed the playground which needed to happen before the year 2000 "
"This is a great park for dogs! There aren't many fenced dog parks in Melbourne so it's great to have this"
Absolutely love it!! A massive area for dogs to run and play off their leads, it's fantastic ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lots of people take their dogs to this awesome park, and I'm pretty sure that there's even a smaller fenced off area inside the park, possibly for the doggos who like to be naughty and roam around. I don't even own a dog but I go there!! And honestly, it's genuinely a mood enhancing atmosphere, with everyone spending time with their respective pooches and you'll find most people here are friendly. 100% RECOMMENDED!! (PLEASE CHECK OTHER REVIEWS OR TAKE A LOOK WITH REGARDS TO KIDS, BUT I'M PRETTY SURE THERE'S A PLAY AREA SOMEWHERE!! )
Gorgeous off leash park with a lot of space to run around. There are always lots of furry friend to play with, especially in the fenced in dog park. My toy spoodle ozzie has a blast and has met many friendly dogs! I will say I wish the fenced in dog park had more grass - if it rained the day prior, your dog is almost guaranteed to get super muddy the next day! That being said, so long as you’re willing to commit to a bath, the dogs love it (see pics of my dog Ozzie below)!
Great park for those with dogs. Lots of room to run around both fenced and unfenced, as well as a smaller fenced area for small or timid dogs and puppies.
Playground
Decent sized playground at opposite end of park to dog area.
Restrooms
Fairly new restrooms.
Dog-friendliness
It's a dog park, so is obviously dog friendly and off leash allowed outside of fenced area.
Picnic area
Picnic area with BBQs next to playground space.
They fixed the playground which needed to happen before the year 2000 ... Then forgot that little kids (let's go with under 3) also would like to play ... Except letting a little child on what's there now could end up with some inherent risk associated issues. Much better than what it was and they even made it a nice play for parents to watch over their kids or stare at their phones ... Whatever is more important at the time.
This is a great park for dogs! There aren't many fenced dog parks in Melbourne so it's great to have this. Unfortunately it is very dusty though so it really only alternates between a dustbowl when it's dry and a muddy swamp when it rains. I'm not sure what the solution is but some better ground covering (grass, fake grass, or something else) would increase my rating to 5 stars
The most 'natural' of a string of three parks in West Brunswick, Gilpin is a great place for a run or a walk, or a safe spot for kids to do a bit of off road cycling. There's a playground and picnic area with BBQs, a natural amphitheatre, and even a couple of outdoor table tennis tables. It's a lovely place, only marred by the few irresponsible dog owners who don't 'pick up'.
Gilpin park is all Australian native trees and had lovely rolling swaels in the landscape. Plenty of native birds and locals walking their dogs. Some BBQ areas by the kids play equipment with benches. A love spot for a suburb light on parks.
Playground
There is large football ground. Clean all the green environment. Most of the people are friendly
Absolutely Lovely Park twin beautiful level Soccer play ground and very clean and neat in the whole park , excellent park for long walk ,long run ,Great fun and more exciting at Brunswick Skate Park enjoy watching all the Experts Skating like the Showtime , everyone Friendly there ,,I'm really Like this Park ,will be back every Sunday ..
WARNING (23/12/2018): Two cases of kennel cough leading to pneumonia (both large breed dogs) have been linked to Gilpin Park over the last week. If your dog is young, old, large or not inoculated, suggest avoiding until the risk of contagion has been resolved (note: inoculation does not mean your dog is protected from all strains).
Excellent park to take the dog! The fenced off area is full of attentive, friendly owners unlike other fenced off dog owners that people seem to treat like a doggy daycare. Three rest of the park is also fantastic if you're not worried about your dog running off in to the road or something. Lovely locals!
Stayed with friends when I visited Melbourne and I kept walking to this park because...dogs. There is an entire enclosed area for them to be off-leash and another enclosure for the more 'fragile' dogs. Beyond that, it has easy, flat paths all throughout the park with a sizeable kids play area too.
This is a Good park. They have a big area where the dogs can be off their leads. There is a fenced n gated area to throw the ball and the doggies get sociable, a water fountain for them and humans. Plenty of trees, shade, garbage bins ,bags, and doggy smells for them.. ⭐ …
Great big park. Enclosed dog area, nice walking track, kids playground, toilets and open grass area
Playground
Great kids playground with a water fountain close by
Restrooms
Well kept rest room
Dog-friendliness
2 Enclosed off lead dog areas with water fountain
Two Fenced Off-leash areas for big dogs and small dogs. The park has plenty of off-street parking (perimeter of the park). Abundance of large trees that provide sufficient shade as well.
Dog-friendliness
Two Fenced Off-leash areas for big dogs and small dogs.
Excellent place for jogging and generally observing local birdlife, especially Eastern Rosellas. Be warned that the newly installed footpath concrete is not level with the earth so you need to keep your eyes out of the clouds to avoid tripping up.
Gilpin park is all Australian native trees and had lovely rolling swaels in the landscape. Plenty of native birds and locals walking their dogs. Some BBQ areas by the kids play equipment with benches. A love spot for a suburb light on parks.
New park is a big improvement over the previous one. Bbq, tables and done play equipment for various ages.
Playground
Nice climbing structure
Restrooms
Toilets not too far away
Picnic area
Quite a few tables and chairs
You can drink alcohol in this park, there's often a coffee stall and there's a closed off dog area, what's not to love. Would be nice if there were a toilet though, closest one is 700m away and usually has a line of waiting folks.
Love the park. Unfortunately my dogs been attacked 2/3 times we have visited. Too many careless owners. They don’t care about the safety of other people’s dogs and will let their dogs roam free without a muzzle. It’s unfortunate.
It is so wonderful to have an off lead park that is so open! There are also small dog and bigger dog fenced off dog areas. My favourite walk with the dogs! There's a little coffee cart there on weekends (not sure about weekdays).
Open space to take fur-babies and/or human offspring. Fenced area for dogs and owners that need it, open space for others, play equipment and BBQ, missing a public toilet though. Park is not irrigated so does dry out in summer.
Off leash dogs park both enclosed and also roaming free around it! Large park with shady spots to relax in the sun! Playgrounds and connection to sporting facilities! This is a great central park with something for everyone.
Awesome park for running and taking dogs. Approx 800m to run/walk a lap - flat topography. Two fenced off-lead dog areas. Children playground at opposite end of dog area. A very well designed multi-purpose park.
The dog park is great with plenty of trees and lots of room for the dogs to run around. Always plenty of dogs there and the owners are a friendly bunch. Can be a little muddy before the grass gets established.
Good playground, BBQ and covered space for eating. Great paths for the kids to ride around on. The toilets were absolutely unusable the day we were there - so gross - but we might have been unlucky on the day.
Large open-spaced park with an excellent secured dog off-leash area. The park is really popular with dog owners of all shapes and sizes and a nice walk through the paths with a small playground for the kids.
Great off lead dog enclosure also a smaller enclosure for senior or timid dogs to have some sniffing freedom also a great place for kids with play area also great for unwinding and walking …
Amazing place. Lots of friendly dogs and lots of friendly people who love their dogs. Great set up for a dog park and just big enough for the dogs to run around and have fun in their own groups.
Great pup friendly space. Seperate areas for big and small dogs. Also a good sized Park outside the fences for getting used to walking the dog off leash. Complimentary dodo bags and bins to use.
nice park, good respect for social distancing, great dog facilities. The major negative for this park is that there are 3 separate toilet facilities near by, all are locked up day and night..
Great place to hang. Good crowd usually. Police ignoring this place during the pandemic possibly because of the ALP/Greens friendly votes in this area. Good kids park and dogs welcome.
Substandard kids playground but a nice place to take the dogs to socialise with one another. With a dedicated, fenced area for younger dogs and another for 'senior citizen' dogs
A nice park in the west end of brunny. Huge doggo park, and a mini little BMX trail thing for the outdoor minded to go nuts on. Play equipment and visits from a coffee cart too.
I always come here when I'm dog sitting as there are always Heaps of friendly dogs to play with. I put all my photos of dogs up on Instagram with the tag @dogsofgilpinpark
Updated dog park here is great. Fully enclosed, dual gate, bins and bags. New favourite dog park because our dog is a silly that can't go off lead outside enclosed areas.
Good dog park that's well used by locals. Gets a bit dry and dusty in the summer and despite being quite large, it could use a fence to give owners better peace of mind.
Really fantastic enclosed dog park with drinking taps for dogs and humans alike. Still plenty of area to run around in and go for a decent walk with your furry friend.
Great fenced area for the doggies. The only drawback is that due to the high volume of doggy traffic there is no grass which can make it either a dust or mud bowl.
Just been to the park for the first time with my dog. Everyone was super friendly and chilled, pretty quiet as well. Really lovely Australian bush feel as well.
Great off lead park. Great pack of dogs n humans. Plenty of space for dogs to run. n council finally investing in decent lights more bins but no fence yet
Lovely dog park in Brunswick. You can walk your dog on leash or off-leash in fenced play regions. An ideal place for pooches to socialize and exercise.
Well-manicured park. Nice for a stroll. Note that the eastern end is currently fenced off with works to create (what appears to be) as new play zone.
5 stars is from our dogs. They love this place. Not the enclosed bit where owners take their dogs, but the park bit where dogs take their owners.
Great parklands and playground! Lots of parking along the street, picnic tables, heaps of grass to run around on or play ball. It's a great park
Good place to take your dog for a walk. Most dogs are off leash. There's also 2 fenced areas, one for small dogs and one for larger sized dogs.
Nice dog friendly park. Good for a walk around or to relax in. Playground and seating along the way. Close to some other big parkland as well.
Not a whole lot of grass during summer. Depending on the time you go, some dogs can be a little cray cray and their owners don’t seem to care.
Nice simple park with some playground equipment, tables (even some ping pong tables), and a dog park.
Dog-friendliness
Great dog park!
Grass bad for dogs at certain times of year - lots of burs. Good smaller off lead enclosure for mini dogs and puppies alongside the big one.
Great new fenced dog park, friendly people nice place for dogs to run around and play with other dogs well done Brunswick council …
A great park for dogs where play pens are separated by dog size. No more concerns about big and little dogs not playing well together.
It is good that it has a fenced off dog area. However it isnt very lush and could really use some grass. Other than that it's okay.
Play with your kids in here, so much fun. You can bring your family in here to make BBQ party, the park provide grill stove
Great dog park, there is an included area for dogs to play together, bins everywhere for waste bags, great place very tidy.
Has a small play ground, bbq facilities, outdoor ping pong table and a 1km running track with markers every 100 metres.
really great doggy park...best part is the recent introduction of the coffee on Albert st - best coffee in Melbourne!
Nice park, can be a bit busy between dog walkers, cyclists and runners. Not all the dog owners do the right thing :(
Its a beutiful park, currently hosting burnswick music festival, with amazing lineup of performers. Must visit.
Great place for the dogs to play off leash with heaps of room to run. Enclosed dog park currently being built.
So. Many. Dogs. It's great, the scenery is lovely and it's great to walk around, run around, or just chill in.
Amazing park! Biggest off leash area for dogs I can find in inner Melbourne and a separate enclosed dog park.
Nice park, often used by dog-walkers. Fun watching the dogs in the fenced-in off-lead areas. …
Great park for kids and walking your dog. It has two enclosed dog section, one for small dogs and large dogs
Fun little dog park. Only thing missing is some grass as on warmer days their paws get a bit tender.
Great place to exercise your dog, 2 enclosed spaces, one for shy dog's and a larger for group fun
Two table tennis tables for the enthusiast. Great on a uncharacteristically still Melbourne day.
A nice park with a small playground for the kids and plenty of space for the dogs to explore.
Great space to walk around and admire dogs. Would take my dog there but has to be on a leash
For a former Brunswick tip .It has become a sanctuary park land for man and mut.
Nice park... Can get busy, and the dog park is a mudfest after a bit of rain.
Good park for off leash doggy time. The fenced area gets a bit muddy though
Great dog park, it has multiple fenced areas, and huge off-lead open areas
A really fun dog park. Fenced off areas so you can let them off the leash.
Great dog park. 2 closed in spaces for dogs and off leash other areas too
Lots of dogs roaming, it's a nice enough park with a good climbing frame
Great off leash space for dogs. Running tracks and plenty of open space.
Perfect off-leash dog walking park. Trees and terrain. Our dogs love it.
Nice local park. Kids playground and lots of shady trees.
Love this park and the secured fence enclosure for dogs.
Nice inner city parklands with a good dog area
Nice fun parks. Dog can run free off leash
Great walking park. …
Loved the big swing there!
Not bad a lot of dogs.
