*Update* This "honest and transparent company" continues to charge me even though I have affirmed on several occasions that I wanted the account cancelled. They could not even make an exception for their own clerical error, which is frankly an underhanded move because I already signed the bloody document twice. As a side note, might I remind those who may read this in the future that this is entire escapade also happened during Covid. My bank is fortunately siding with me and has apparently received several complaints in the past from this institution. Frankly I could care less about the money done and gone, but the fact is that GoPerformance continues to be obtuse and charge me after submitting a formal complaint against their business. The ill-fitted aegis of 'policy' being used as a weapon of spite, that's the real eye opener here. Hint: this experience was definitely not part of the laid out policy and might actually constitute an exceptional situation, and by using policy to continue to economically repress a former customer is actually reprehensible. This is more about protecting your misplaced pride. In closing this review, I'm aware of your miserly attitude about restitution, but man...you're seriously going to continue charging me? I signed the bloody document, just leave me the hell alone. */end Update* Instruction for the classes was good. But then I cancelled, as I moved to another gym out of recommendation, and frankly I can see why in hindsight. I looked more closely at my records doing a review of my finances. They continued to charge me for months after the fact. I contacted them about this, they have the gall to tell me to return in person again, and say they have no record of cancellation - though they most certainly have a record of me NOT USING THE SERVICES. Hello, you have that log in scanner for a reason don't you? They also said that it was highly unlikely that it would go unnoticed by me on my statement, deflecting the actual issue. When I went to cancel before, I tried to do it over the phone. They said they couldn't do that and told me to come in because they don't do phone cancellations. I clearly remember the day I cancelled and the rather laissez-faire attitude of reception at confirming the cancellation. No document. No nothing other than me signing a notepad and me asking, "So, it's cancelled right?" and being given a milquetoast yes. Needless to say, very poor experience. I cannot "meet halfway" when you essentially stole $700 from me. You can contact your lawyer all you want about my issue. I was meeting you halfway by making a request for a refund without going through legal channels like a small claims court, and you have the gall to escalate this. I didn't even request a full refund, but I sure as hell am going to now. Talk about dishonest.

*UPDATE* August 4th 2019 I have received another text stating that the card they have charged was declined and my monthly dues for August were missed. As you can see from my previous update my membership has been cancelled and no further fees are owed. I have asked numerous times that my card be removed so I stop receiving these messages but that has clearly not happened. THANK GOD the card they keep charging is no longer in service as I fear they would just continue to take my money even though my cancellation has been processed. *UPDATE* My membership has been cancelled and all fees owing have been waived. I am grateful that they were able to resolve the matter, just frustrated it took this long and was so difficult. *UPDATE*. July 5th 2019 I received an email from the establishment accusing me of not being truthful in this review even though I have receipts and emails to detail the chain of events below. I will hopefully be resolving this issue today in person but I am completely shocked that this is how they treat a customer that was forced into a situation due to the companies multiple mistakes. As I have stated over email and in person- I will happily pay the remaining balance of last months dues (approx $10) but I was assured in person that these would be waived along with NSF fees. Really looking forward to going in today during my work hours to deal with this ! *When I initially cancelled my membership I was told to pay a cancellation fee of $99 . My contract had finished so I stated that I did not have to pay the cancellation fee only last months owings.... well the emails went back and forth and I ended up paying the $99. I then receive texts, phone calls and emails stating that I owe $145.00 due to a missed payment. Turns out they made a mistake charging me the $99.00 and they were I fact only supposed to charge me my final month payment which included a $52 (approx) gym upgrade fee. So not only was I short on the payment but they also included a NSF fee . I compromised by saying I would pay what is remaining of the payment but I would not pay the NSF fee. Over email they were reluctant to remove the NSF fee but when I arrived in person .... although confused was nice enough to waive all remaining fees. Just when I Thought my journey with the gym was finally over..... I am now receiving more messages stating that payments have been missed. After finally pinning someone down to question why this is happening I am told that my membership has not been cancelled and these fees are still remaining. So my journey to cancel my membership continues another month. Wish me luck!!!! Buyer Beware!!!!

With smaller, family run fitness facilities slowly becoming an thing of a the past, this place is truly a gem that really highlights all the things you love about fitness therapy. The staff are friendly and welcoming, its a huge space that has every variety of fitness equipment you could ask for, tons of space and multiple rooms to change up your workout scene - including a legitimate DOJO if you want to turn it up to 11 and take your COVID lockdown anger out on a wide assortment of hitting bags, a Finnish style sauna (sadly closed right now) and an owner who personally makes it his mission to connect with every member who trains there. It is not surprising to see how quickly people have caught on to the advantages of this place and are sick of the "shopping mall anxiety" fitness experience at large franchise facilities. I've also been incredibly impressed with how compliant the facility and the members have been at respecting the new COVID safety guidelines, while also keeping it a really fun experience to look forward to after long days at work with continuous negative news cycles trying to bring you down. Places like Go are a god send during these times, keep up the great work!

I have been a member of this gym at two different times and i can safely say do not go here. After attending other gyms the level of cleanliness and attitude at this gym are not what you would expect. Staff rarely even look up from there iPads when you walk in, NO SOCIAL DISTANCING WHAT SO EVER, and i never once saw staff cleaning throughout the day. Never once did i see a staff member do anything to make the gym any tidier, I spoke with the owner on one occasion about this as weights are stacked on racks in any old order because evidently people can't count by 5's or learn shapes. I ask why don't you label the pins so people know where to stack the weights his answer "they wouldn't stack them properly anyways" well they certainly won't if there not marked! The final straw for me was being asked to end my phone call due to "COVID rules" that i could not stand in the lobby and make a phone call with a mask on because there was "No loitering", I had to go into the gym and work out around 50 other people with a big sign in the lobby that says "No masks allowed while working out" the logic of this place is beyond belief.

Firstly I would like to say SHAME ON YOU for being so negative towards a local business trying to stay afloat during this terrible time. I was taught at a very young age if you have nothing nice to say just don't say it at all. Go Performance is doing what is required and recommended to keep their members safe. There are signs, cleaning supplies and sanitizer for all of us to use BEFORE AND AFTER use of the machines/equipment. GO PERFORMANCE is not a day care it is a gym. If adults are unable to do their part in cleaning their own equipment that is a YOU problem and not a management issue (maybe stay home) - they are not there to police and be your babysitter. I read that there is no cleaner on site - that is a flat out lie as I see the cleaner at least 2-3 times during my 1 hour workout every time I am there. I am happy to say that I feel that GO has done a great job keeping the gym clean and safe for the members. They are always there to hear feedback or concerns. THANK YOU FOR STAYING OPEN AND CLEAN AND BEING THERE FOR THE COMMUNITY - ESPECIALLY DURING THIS TIME

Just wanted to give a huge shoutout and thank you to GoPerformance/Doug Gill and Paul Sukys. Thank you so much to GoPerformance owner Doug Gill for always working hard and pushing forward to keep the gym at the highest class of standards. GoPerformance offers a great workout facility with an Olympic squat platform and a wide variety of workout equipment. Thanks to Doug, this equipment is kept in great working condition and consistently changed out if needed. GoPerformance also has a spectacular martial arts instructor with curriculum for all ages and levels. Paul Sukys has a karate program for kids as young as four, while mom and dad can get a workout in close by. He also teaches adult karate, beginner, intermediate, and advanced Muay Thai kickboxing. Paul Sukys goes above and beyond for the effort he puts into his students and martial arts programs. New students are welcomed and get the benefit of one-on-one time with Paul during class. Thanks to Paul, Doug, and GoPerformance, I have been given a healthy life as a martial artist.

I did enjoy this gym even though a lot of the equipment is a outdated and the change rooms are cold and not the greatest to use. Here is my problem, I have paid faithfully every month and NEVER missed a payment. My credit card was compromised and cancelled and I missed ONE payment. I then immediately received a VERY aggressive call from a collection agency before I could even get a new credit card. I went into the gym and was greeted by an aggressive little thing who basically called me a liar.... "I highly doubt that happened" was what she said to me. I cancelled my membership and low and behold they charged me $312 to cancel plus the missed payment plus another fee for a missed payment. Grand total of $410 to cancel my membership at a gym that promised to upgrade the equipment yet never has (seated leg press is really a peice that should be able to be used) and boasts about how great their customer service is. Thanks go performance for taking my money and calling me a liar!!

Good facility and the owners are doing a good job revamping and renonvating. Very convenient if you are in Marda Loop and fairly priced overall. My wife and I recently had to leave the gym as we moved out of the city and the only problem is with the cancelation fees. We knew upon signing that there was a potential for a $200 per person fee to leave (a bit aggressive); however, there is an expectation to cancel 30 days in advance. This essentially means we have to pay for one month of membership we are never going to use. An unfortunate end to an otherwise good gym. This policy is ultimately a deterrent to us returning should we be back in Calgary. Author's Edit: Subsequent discussion with the owner determined that this was a misunderstanding of the policy. As such, the fee that is subsequently applied within the 30 days of canceling will be refunded. Thank you Go Performance Management!

Pretty solid gym for the price. The staff is quite friendly and chill, especially the owner, Doug. Awesome guy. There's lots of nice light in the gym, but it gets very hot during the summer! Not sure if there's AC or not. I really like the clientele here. Everyone is respectful, quiet, and great at cleaning equipment and leaving everyone else alone to do their thing. My only small complaint is that the women's changeroom has had a steam room "under construction" since I started going to this gym just under a year ago, but it doesn't look like there's been progress - and it's a bit of a bummer that we have to pay the same membership prices as the men for one less amenity. Not bad in all, good choice if you're looking for something affordable in the neighbourhood.

This gym is awesome! I moved to Calgary about 9 years ago and since then have been a member of a few different gyms around the city. This is it, I love GoPerformance! The staff are friendly, parking is included, the hours work great for me and it is the cleanest gym around, I promise! These guys clearly take pride in keeping their gym clean and I appreciate that so much. I also, participate in the Silverback Martial Arts program a few times a week. This is something I’ve always been interested in but never had the nerve to try it out. Nothing to be scared of here, this program is awesome! You can do kickboxing, jiu jitsu, karate, or all 3. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly and the coaches are knowledgeable and patient. Only regret is not joining sooner!

I've been a member for 2-3 years and I appreciate that it's not too crowded. There is plenty of equipment and space. It's also affordable and convenient if you live near Marda Loop. I am, however, disappointed that they initially required an in-person visit to put the membership on hold in March due to COVID (that changed after they were required to close by the health authorities). Similarly, they're now requiring an in-person visit to cancel the membership, which I would like to do due to my continued unease about the safety of being indoors and continued loss of my income. It's a difficult situation for businesses, but requiring an in-person visit in these times is not respectful of the health of members or the community.

Was told if I froze my membership due to Covid there would be no gym to return to. It was publicly said that they would take care of all the members that supported this small gym during a difficult time. The gym didn't provide any online training, tips or at home workouts during covid and members have yet to see any appreciation for their generosity during covid. I appreciate they fixed the rotting counter tops but would have been nice if they fixed the girls washroom doors that fail to properly close. The owner can't take any constructive criticism therefore I decided to move to a gym where I feel more valued. However, the prime location and easy parking will be missed

I started going to this gym in 2019 and have loved the personal feel and quality equipment. The space is great and offers all the essentials to get a good workout. Furthermore, all the staff have been super nice and accommodating throughout Covid. Recently, as the result of a job change, I looked to cancel my membership as the gym was no longer on my commute. Doug (the owner) was very understanding of my situation and worked with me to find the best cancellation solution. He was very professional throughout all our dealings and I would highly recommend this gym to anyone in the southwest who is looking for a gym to call home.

I've been going to this gym for a month now and I'm very happy with my experience so far. I love how this gym is everything that Goodlife is not. They don't try to sell you insane packages and personal training that you don't need. The people that work out here are regular people not jacked up on ROIDS. The staff are friendly and helpful. I even noticed that some of there suppliments are cheaper than you'd pay at popeyes. I also have taken the yoga and pilates classes that are included with the gym membership and have always been impressed with how well the classes are run. Five stars.

The gym itself is fine and the staff are friendly but I had a bad experience ending my membership. After finishing my year long contract I went into the gym to cancel my monthly payments on November 10th and was informed that i would be charged for that month (November 1st) and would see no further credit card charges after that. After seeing a second credit card charge in December I called in and the girl on the phone said that I had to pay for an additional month when I was originally told I would no longer be charged. have moved across town and barely use the gym.

Half of these 5 stars are because they offered a chance at $150 credit for your review, don't trust it. They keep billing you after you leave your contract (longer than the notice you're required) and it only stopped when I noticed 2.5 months after my cancellation. Owner is refusing to repay me the full amount of overpayment and frankly has not treated me well in the process. These are not the first billing issues I encountered with this gym. As for the actual gym it's adequate and good for the price, if you can handle doing business with a company that does this.

Insane amount of fees. The reality your paying 5 times the amount advertised a month But somehow the gym is a constant a mess never anyone cleaning equipment or organizing it. Closes an hour earlier then advertised on weekends. Showers and bathrooms out of soap 9/10 times. The parking situation is terrible and indigo will give you a ticket for being over 2 minutes of the 2 hour maximum. Front desk Staff were decently friendly and could hold conversation. Allot of broken and worn down equipment. half the treadmills won’t turn on or they just crash or freeze.

I came back to this gym for many reasons. The equipment is excellent, the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, the hours are great and it's a local business which is wonderful. Ever since I came back I've noticed that ownership has done a magnificent job of keeping the gym clean. They've been able to follow AHS protocols during these difficult and stressful times. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and ownership at GoPerformance for all the hard work they've done and continue to do through these difficult times.

I can't say enough about how amazing this gym is. It has everything and more that you could want in terms of free weights, machines, cardio, and then the added bonus of the martial arts areas; where there are longer bags for muay thai, punching bags, a speed bag, etc. You literally can't ask for more in a gym. Great price, great members, friendly staff, and an all around motivational place. Puts big box gyms to shame! If you're looking for a gym, definitely give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

Buyer beware! Whatever you do, don't count on what the "sales" guys say at the front desk. At the time of signing my son up for Muay Thai, I was told it would cost $119.00 if I wanted to cancel the membership. Three days later (yep, only 3 days) I needed to cancel the membership and the owner told me, with much attitude, it didn't matter what quote I was given and the fee to cancel was $312.00. He had no interest in hearing what I had to say. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!

Just joined this gym as my current gym (world health club on 37st) is closing. Overall this is an excellent gym, equipment is great, never gets too busy, and workout area have lots of natural light from the big windows (so you don't feel like you are in a dungeon)... Also $25 bi-weekly is very affordable for a 1 year contract. Ignore the comments from the reviewer that had one bad experience with the owner and never actually used the gym... this is a great place to work out!

Very solid gym in Marda Loop. Cheaper monthly fee compared to other inner-city gyms. If you are looking for fitness classes, this won't be your destination, but they have ample cardio equipment, weight machines and free weights. Very clean facilities and broken equipment is generally fixed in a timely fashion. As others have said, the lack of A/C can be a little uncomfortable during the hottest days in the summer, but you're going to be sweating anyways.

Great gym, sneaky business practices. I wanted to freeze my membership for $10/month. I got an email saying I was going to be charged $60 for the freeze, even though it was supposed to be month by month. I went in to clarify with the associate that it was going to be billed at $10/month, which he confirmed. Of course my card was charged the full $60 AND my regular gym fees. So either he didn’t know or lied to my face, which is worse?

AVOID THIS GYM Signed up with them for a month to month (no commitment) membership which was around $80. After 6 months I found out that they put me on some kind of contract, and the most ridiculous thing is during lockdown on December 12,2020 I called them in to cancel my membership, they did not cancel it. Today in July 2021 I found out they have been charging me every month up until now. They are scammers.

Went in to look at prices as my fiance and I just moved to Mardaloop. Went in and were greeted by Rochelle who gave us a tour and answered all of our questions. We signed up the next day and have been going strong for a month and half now. All the staff are super friendly, doesn't at all feel like a big box gym at all. Other patrons are really friendly and seem to treat the place with respect.

Absolutely the best gym in Calgary! The staff are all pleasant and seek to improve your experience. The muay thai program is second to none. Their martial arts school, "Silverback Martial Arts." has various disciplines led by highly experienced coaches Paul and Arek. The goperformance team has built a strong community which makes going to the gym that much better. I highly recommend this gym.

I used to come here when it was pro bodies 10 years ago. Its still the same gym but they've put some money in it (fixed the urinal in the mens locker room that was leaking for the longest time) they have a good selection of machines more variety than what you'd see at good life, a lot less busy and not loud. I'd like it if they could get filtered water coolers but it's not a huge deal.

I have tried a lot of gyms in the city and this one is hands down the best. The staff are great and equipment is high quality and well maintained. The owner Doug took the time to make sure it was a great experience and an easy transition to the new club. I really enjoy the BJJ classes there as well. The instructor Paul is very knowledgeable and friendly. I won’t work out anywhere else.

Best martial art classes! I’ve been looking around the city to find a self-defence, confident boost for my shy 4 year old son. What a difference Go-performance class has made. My son absolutely loves his class. He counts down the days to go. You can see him interact, laugh and having a blast during his class. It is definitely worth your time to try a class for your little ones.

This is, by far, the best gym in the city. I've used the competitors before, and I would not trade Go Performance for any of them. Since COVID-19 restrictions started, the owners and staff have gone above and beyond to provide the highest quality of service. The people are amazing. The gym is absolutely spotless. The facilities and location are great. This is Calgary's #1 Gym.

Very happy with this Gym. Clean, respectable staff, owners that care and great equipment. Hours are good (open even on stat holiday), they offer many different classes and people that come to this gym all seem to respect one another. Never once did I feel intimidated or nervous. If you are thinking about joining a new gym, stop and give this one a try. 10/10 would recommend.

Just started coming here after gyms re-opened and must say it is my favorite gym I have been to yet. The facility is professionally sanitized every night, it is easy to book, and it isn’t as intimidating as other gyms. Also a lovely neighborhood and friendly staff. New highlight of my day and will be recommending to anyone who is looking for a great facility :)

NEVER purchase a groupon from GoPerformance in Marda Loop Calgary! They do not support them once they have your money. I hate businesses who offer a groupon and then do NOT provide the service once someone wants to claim it. A gym should provide excellent customer service and I was deeply disappointed in this one. I would not recommend this business at all!

Great gym with friendly staff and an unpretentious training atmosphere. Olympic lifting platform is a huge bonus in a city seemingly lacking them. It's also great to be able to use the MMA/Boxing area when classes are not taking place. I have nothing but great things to say about this place and the upgrade over the former Pro Bodies is clearly evident.

This is a great gym I did some personal training there with one of their personal trainers to help me reach a weight goal for a jiu jitsu tournament in Vegas, she is a great trainer and recommend her to anyone, great gym over all, owner is a great person along with the martial Arts instucter as well, great staff all around, clean gym, great equipment.

Avoid this gym like the plague. Their no commitment contracts are not what they advertise. It's very difficult to cancel and they do not allow you to do it over the phone. There's much nicer gyms in Calgary that are easier to deal with. I wish I read the reviews prior to joining because it appears a lot of customers have the same complaint.

I have been so impressed since joining this gym, it is a real gym, full of staff and members that are very supportive to all fitness goals. It is not just a gym, it is a supportive community!

My partner and I switched gyms because we moved to Mardaloop and Go has been great! It's super easy to book a time, the service is friendly and they keep it clean. Additionally, they have been clear on their fees, and any additional charges. Super happy to have a gym open, that's close by - It's a necessity during COVID!

It's about the same price as GoodLife. The equipment is good but some of it is out of date. It does have a sauna though which is a nice touch. Some trainers have left recently but they're bringing new ones on which people seem to work well with. Overall you get what you pay for and it is a reliable gym.

I have been a member of this gym for years, they constantly upgrade equipment and keep the facility clean and the equipment functioning as intended. Above all else is the customer service: they provide top notch support to all their members and are incredibly fair. I would highly recommend this gym.

I bought a leg press and pull up machine from the owner Doug and paid a deposit. I found out later I was unable to purchase the pull up machine and he was willing to refund the deposit. When picking up the machine he had his employees help. Overall a great experience with him. He seems very honest.

Have been doing the mauy Thai program for a few years with work colleagues and we absolutely love it. Facility has all the equipment we require and top level coaching. Staff is amazing and helpful in every way. Change rooms have plenty of space and lockers as well. Highly recommend this gym

This is a great gym and the staff are extremely courtesy. You are not treated as a number. I used to come when it was pro bodies and there is a big difference especially with the renovations and new equipment. This gym is the real deal with no attitude. Thanks you guys keep up the good work

Some of people rating this gym seem so unreasonable! Pretty straightforward cancellation policy, friendly staff, good gym, great location. What else could you ask for in a gym? I am seriously curious. Doug the owner is great to deal with and the gym fits all my needs (and more). 5 stars!

So far very happy with my decision to sign up for this gym! It's clean, well maintained with no shortage of equipment. I can count on one hand the number of times I've had to wait for a machine even at busy times. Beyond that, the prices and cancellation policy are more than reasonable!

I've gone to this gym for +8 years. It's got a great workout area and everything you need, plus the majority of people that use the facility are dedicated. I had to cancel my membership recently due to a move. There was no issue whatsoever in cancelling the membership.

Absolutely love this place. Their pricing is more than fair and their facility is clean and organized. They also have really sweet staff, and all of their memebers are super friendly. So glad they were able to re-open. Thanks for your efforts in riding out the storm!

Love my gym! I've been a member for 3 years. Great energy, friendly staff and very well equipped. I just finished a couple of coaching sessions with Aris which will really help kickstart my new bulking session. Apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks!

Best gym I have been to in the city. It is constantly being cleaned, there is tons of equipment, and it is all spectacularly maintained. There is not even a light out in the bathrooms. This is the type of gym you look forward to working out at.

Had a great experience with Chad, one of the personal trainers, today. Asked him casually about some problems Id been having with training plateaus and he took 30 minutes to talk with me about goals, workouts, solutions etc. Super friendly,

They have big signs out front saying they offer BJJ classes but I have looked at there schedule over the last month and they almost never actually have the classes. Typical, an mma gym 4 blocks from my house and they don't even train bjj...

Welcoming environment with no overbearing staff. The ones I’ve met so far are genuine and very chill. The gym itself isn’t massive but it offers everything you need. They even offer a wide range of classes with real competitive coaches!

Nice equipment and awesome open space. Full olympic lifting area with bumper plates. Access to classes and dojo with bags. Never too busy. Owner Doug is super receptive to comments/concerns. Plan on being a member for a very long time.

My partner has been coming here for a few months and is very happy! The price is very reasonable compared to other gyms, and the location can't be beat! Prices for supplements are quite high, but the fitness options are plentiful.

Great gym. They have recently took it over from a previous establishemrnt and have put in a lot of work in and are continuing further. Staff is great. Very good price as you get a lot of extras i.e classes with gym access.

Signed up for a free 7 day trial and no disappointment. The signup was plain, simple and fast, I was able to do it on my phone. It’s a clean gym with a great atmosphere. Plan to sign up for a full membership.

Great location in marda loop. The workout gym is huge with lots of equipment and space. The staff are all approachable and friendly. My favourite thing is that it's open late until 1130 on weeknights.

An excellent, well equipped gym with convenient hours. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the ladies' locker room is FREEZING, especially the floor. Other than that I really like it.

Solid gym with good hours for early or late workouts. I wish the sauna in the mens room was sealed better to get higher temperatures but it's a minor complaint

Overall bad time. Owner was kind of nice. Got a parking ticket mid day after being there just over an hour being in the gym parking stalls. Won't go back
