Chan at the bar sure do know how to make those MaiTai's ❤️❤️❤️ Definitely worth it. Kept us buzzin' -However, I'm going to request she wears gloves the next time handling the fruit/food Waiting to be seated on a Saturday evening Timing was 'okay' - 15 min. Ehh ♀️❤️ But in ATL - "AMAZING" lol They gave us the BEST Seats offered Indoor/Outdoor dining, in the back. Very secluded and set the tone. Great ambiance. The food had some amazing Twist to it Starting with the nice, warm, melted cheese in the middle the 'Lagoon'.. Customer service was BEYOND Amazing...But a little TOO MUCH overbearing at times [Comstructive criticism] From the door, even while waiting..We were constantly (every 3-5 min) reminded our table was coming up. It was agreed upon walking in on a 15 min wait ❤️ It's not a HUGEEE Place...So we were able to see every come come & go from sitting in front of the doors. Many times in the middle of a light, friendly conversation- the staff wouldn't leave Just stand there, and smile. So we put our personal convo on hold a few times in order to have more friendly, inclusive small talk. Some conversation wasn't an issue because trust, I prefer attentive service over rude service. However, both of our Apps came & my Fiances dinner - but not mines. Of Course, like the gentleman that he is ... he waited to eat until my food came. Some time (15- 20 min) passed and we noticed my food wasn't coming. He reminded the waitress, who said she....Forgot! I was going to decline them making it since the App filled me up, but she rushed off so fast as I guess she realized her mistake I had no time to say a word. Long story short: We end up boxing the food to go home - since it was 11pm and they were closing ♀️ Overall, it was good. Very cost friendly. And would recommend

My Brother & I were strolling around The Shops. As we got hungry we realized in all the years here in Atlanta (on & off) not once have we tried GCR. Not that GCR isn't the original landmark of authentic, crafted Chinese food in the heart of Buckhead circa late 70's. Nor the prime Peachtree Road address with its marquis sign towering over the restaurant. Mrs. Chang, one of the Owners who also servers as the Hostess, Bartender & much more, came to our table to welcome us. When we told her it's been a long time for us to get here, she elbowed us both & welcomed us to the GC family. Our Server Daniel served us very well as we delighted in the Cashew Chicken, Tofu Skin Avocado Roll, Spring Rolls & Veggie Pad Thai. Any allergies or substitutions needed, the kitchen is more than happy to accommodate. Our fresh tasting, aromatic meal including two glasses of Cabernet was right under $60, not a bad price point at all. To Note: *Wheelchair Lift *All Produce is N-GMO & sourced from local premium farms *Sushi Bar *Full Service Bar with Bistro Seating *Nice Wine Selection *Catering & Special Events *Delivery up to a 5 mile radius - includes wine & beer - must have ID present *Reservations powered by Open Table Whether it's Chinese, Thai, Sushi, or Japanese Cuisine amongst a welcoming & vibrant atmosphere with A+ customer service, the family owned Grand China Restaurant, got you covered.
Overall giving an average rating: Ordered delivery through DoorDash. Food can sometimes get soggy during transport so I didn’t have expectations that everything would be nice and crispy anyway BUT the scallion pancakes kept really well and were crispy even later Ordered scallion pancakes along with veggie steamed buns, veggie dumplings, and a tofu dish. Everything was just slightly bland. The scallion pancakes didn’t have enough scallion, and the flavour was mild. The dumplings were very thick and the filling was mostly vermicelli and little veggie. Also sort of bland. Same with the bao, it had the exact same filling with slightly more mushrooms. The only dipping sauce for any of them was soy sauce with chilli. Not even oyster sauce or anything else so that was disappointing! The food wasn’t cheap too. Like if I was at a super cheap Chinese place and I got this food I really wouldn’t deduct any stars because you know that’s what you’re paying for and don’t have high expectations but for $6 for one bao and another $20 for general Tso tofu I am not that happy Overall middling experience- especially if you are vegan or vegetarian. I suppose all the ecstatic reviewers are people who eat meat and in their case the food actually might be good! For vegans/ vegetarians - try it, but don’t have high expectations like I did

This was my first and last time coming here. Service was not great from the moment we walked in. When we were seated the waiter repeatedly missed our order. We had to ask him multiple times for our drinks and appetizers. Our meals were served before we got our spring rolls and each time we asked for it he kept changing the order. The food itself was cold and undercooked. The only good dish was the beef teriyaki. When we were done eating we tried to get the waiters attention for the check. This happened all while the owner of the restaurant was casually talking to table next to us. She only came to our table after I got up and got the waiter myself. Finally they overcharged us on a drink, by 20 dollars, and when we brought it to their attention the waiter did apologize and tried to comp the drink. Only to come back with the same receipt. Eventually we just gave up and paid the overcharged price. I suppose the only positive thing is the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant.

I attended dinner with C. Franks and Associates today at Grand China Restaurant! As we were being seated, we were so graciously greeted by the restaurants owner Mrs. Chang! Not only was she very welcoming, she also prepared us Frozen Daiquiris and delightfully delivered them to our table! An owner being so hands on with their patrons is a rarity now a days, so her kindness was definitely appreciated!! The wait staff was also very kind and the food was so delicious and fresh!! I learned that this restaurant has been a staple in the community for many years, and I truly understand why! I highly recommend this Buckhead gem and would like to thank Mrs. Chang, and the entire staff for making our visit such an enjoyable experience! I will most certainly be back!! Attached to this review is a pic of Mrs. Chang! :-)

I've been coming here since 1992. It's okay. It was awesome - the best in Atlanta. It's going down. Laziness in the food preparation now. Also, they're doing way too much. Just because you're Asian doesn't mean you know how to prepare ALL Asian food. It was much better when it was just a Chinese restaurant. Now, they even have tacos. If you go to a Chinese restaurant that has Mexican tacos, that tells you volumes. It's going down. Probably can't expect it to remain exemplary for more than 30 years. It's now going down... little by little. I got Pork dumplings last time -- all dough. I got the Hot and Sour cabbage. Cabbage barely cooked. Hard. Inedible. And other examples of not taking care in the preparation of the food. I have about four or five other examples. It's not terrible, but I see the difference over the last year or two. The time has come to start looking for alternatives.

I wish I would have just went to the mall… I had the taste for braised wings and beef fried rice. I couldn’t get beef fried rice with the wings so I just got fried rice. Let me tell you!!!! Those two are not their thing. I thought it was real authentic it’s not. My wings tasted like it had chemicals in it. Yuck!! Rice just wasn’t it only thing was good were the spring roll and the water because I was thirsty. I tried to order the drink but the waiter seemed confused if their was anyone their to make it so instead of disappointing myself and paying $15 for something else I didn’t like I opted out and just went for more water. The waiter was very nice a tentative. Won’t go back.

Today, C. Franks and Associates dined at the Grande China Restaurant, in Buckhead.I personally was thoroughly impressed by both the exquisite cuisine and the impeccable service shown to my Associates and myself. The menu showcased a variety of innovative dishes, blending bold flavors and beautiful presentation. The attentive staff ensured that our meal was a memorable one, providing us with an excellent, friendly, and an amazing dining experience. Mrs. Chang extended to us a warm and friendly welcome while offering her own personal touch to our dining experience. I highly recommend this popular, and long term establishment to anyone traveling in our around the Buckhead area

The entire experience was wonderful. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Our water cups were never empty. The cocktails were perfectly made and my favorite was the mojito. My party had different sushi rolls, udon noodles, pad Thai and unagi. Everything tasted amazing. The menu is extremely large and can feel overwhelming but after tasting a couple dishes from each type of cuisine offered, I'm willing to bet the kitchen will expertly execute the crafting of every dish on the menu. This place is worth a few trips to fully experience all they have to offer.

I ordered bourbon chicken and they gave me this b.s. . The food wasn’t fresh and was almost stale. Like it’s been sitting out all day!!! The food has no seasoning or nothing on it. It literally looked like dog food. I looked at eeeverybody else’s plate and the entire restaurant had all types of extra seasoning. If you are black, do joncome to this restaurant. I felt highly disrespected!!!! These people literally gave me this b.s. dish and said “it’s not a popular dish”. My food looked and tasted like dog food but every other race of people had a plate that looked amazing. Black people, you are not welcome !!!!

Please like and follow for more reviews!! We went here for Mother's Day and it was a little crowd. At first wasn't sure if I would stay because we had a problem with seating. We were there first and a group of 6 came in and of course they wanted us to wait so they could sit the bigger party. Then another couple came and they set them down first. After explaining that we were before them they did ask the couple to wait and gave us the table. We were told that the waiter was new. The food and drinks were good I like that you can get Thai, Chinese, and Japanese all in one place.

I would have given this establishment 4+ stars until I was served a drink with a roach sitting pretty on an ice cube, or before I watched the server notice something black on my broccoli at the same time I noticed (which was when they almost sat it on the table)…however she slickly acted as if she was grabbing napkins behind a close bar area and clearly removed the black object and re-served it to me. This experience went from somewhat pleasant to an entire disaster. By the way, after acknowledging the roach I was still asked to pay for my experience here…no problem. But I will let others know. Patronize at your own risk.
Or server Emily was great, so nice and patient as we modified one of our orders. All the food was fresh and delicious: House Angel hair noodles (modified Singapore noodles), sauteed bok choy with mushrooms, house egg foo young, shrimp spring rolls, fried chicken wings, and black beans mussels. As for the drinks we ordered the Zombie and MaiTai and both were SOOOOOO good! Mrs. Chan does not miss on the drinks folks. I'd come by just for drinks if I wasn't hungry. Great experience.

We had such a great time here and ordered some delicious food! We had the carb rangoons, spring rolls, orange chicken, and the meat trio (chicken, shrimp, scallops). All the food came out very fast and tasted so fresh and authentic. The sweet lady Ms. C made some amazing drinks as well and made sure we had a great night. We’ll be back to try the sushi and Thai food!

Mrs Chaw and her sister are icon proprietors in Buckhead. Two forwarded thinkers started their restaurant "Grand China" after they've completed their studies at Georgia tech and Georgia State. The food is delicious here. The atmosphere is very calming and really relaxing. Great location. Parking in the back. Walk around front to the entrance. They are my new friends. Brian was my server, he is very cool. As of now this is my favorite Thai....Japanese...Chinese restaurants all put together. Look for their YouTube commercial. Try it you will love it.
I’ve ordered from Grand China a few times in the past. Great food. However, my most recent deliver order the delivery driver demanded a tip for me after not being able to find the unit and my steamed rice was missing! Why would I tip and my food order is incomplete? And who demands a tip from someone? The food and delivery fee is paid for and you traveled less than a mile to deliver. Ruined my whole meal and experience with this restaurant. Some service for Buckhead. Yuck.

I enjoyed my experience with my sister and mom . The ambience of the place felt like home . It felt like we were sitting in a living room. Our waiter was really kind and attentive. We ordered the Crab Rangoons for an appetizer and they were delicious . Our entrees came out and were amazing as well . The fried rice is well seasoned with awesome veggies . After our meal we met the owner, she was really friendly and nice . We will definitely be back . 10/10 experience .

Overall food options and quality were great, but service was slow & staff overtook our experience with inflammatory conversation topics. We spent about 80% of the time discussing politics uncomfortably with what appeared to be one of the owners. I wish I would say I’d be back on the quality of food, but I would advise take-out over a dine in experience sadly.

It is evident the unique taste here is the result of years of refinement. I have to come here at least twice a month now. ~~~ Update: I added three pics of The "Impossible Burger"!!! EVERYTHING in this creation is hand-made from scratch, even to he buns , and EVERY part of it is totally VEGAN. This is the best Burger EVER. (I know- small pics- I had nearly finished the burger by the time I grabbed my camera) ~~ You will wonder if it was real beef... thus the name Impossible Burger
Had a wonderful time here celebrating my brother’s birthday! Mrs. Chang was very welcoming from the moment we walked in the door…a complete joy to be around. She also said she has the best cocktails in town and did not disappoint. The Mai Tai was truly the best I’ve ever had! I also got the deluxe coffee…also very good. Appetizers and the main dishes were great…large enough portions to share. I will certainly be back!

If you were looking for horrible customer service And mediocre food come to this restaurant. The old man at the front is very rude and it’s only money driven. they will charge you two dollars for sauce on the side (instead of on the chicken) and they will even charge you to take eggs out of your fried rice. I don’t know about you but attitude is everything for me, and his attitude is horrible and uninviting.

I moved back to Atlanta 7 years ago and I must say nothing has changed. Grand China is the best authentic Chinese restaurant food that I’ve experienced. Even better than the ones I’ve experienced during my expeditions across Asia. Maybe because the owner cooks her dishes using family heritage recipes. ❤️

I’m telling you…this is the best Chinese food here in Atlanta. We are foodies and hands down a great experience. Mrs Chen is an incredible hostess and makes THE BEST Mai Tai. And I have had them from all over. The warm and friendly service combines with amazing authentic cuisine level Asian food. Honestly some of the nicest folks. Treated us amazing for our special occasion. But I have to get back to that Mai Tai soon!!

Unfortunately -recently - The traditional Chinese dishes are lacking. The ribs and general tsaos chicken do not taste fresh. In rating this review - I am secretly hoping the quality of food starts to become what it once was. :)

The only thing good about my order was the white rice. Ordered sweet & sour chicken and the chicken was over friend/very dry, and the sweet and sour sauce tasted like cucumber due to too cucumbers floating in the sauce on the side. Service was also less than desirable when I picked up my order.
This is definitely a hidden gem! The food is fresh and soo flavorful. I asked for spice and they delivered. I got beef and broccoli and the broccoli had flavor and a nice crunch. The beef was tender and well seasoned. I tried the strawberry martini and it was yum! I highly recommend visiting!
Best bartender ever! I think the owner is also the bartender (at least tonight), and she is adorable! She really talked up the cocktails, so we ordered a mai tai and a margarita, and they did not disappoint! Great food, and the full bar is an awesome perk at a spot with such a robust menu.
Delicious food all around the board. The honeyed ribs weren't tender like you'd expect. There was a slight crunchiness because of the honey; then the tenderness kicks in. The crab rolls were small but tasty, and the Sushi was as good as it looked. I order from job regularly now.
This has literally been the best experience I’ve ever encountered in Buckhead. The owner works as if she’s literally an employee. Pours the best drinks at the bar. The food is absolutely impeccable! Wow. Definitely stop by this location. You are definitely in for a treat.
I test Chinese place by the way they cook their simple fried rice. I was not pleased. This is not a place that I will go back to. The chicken looked weird. Even the spring rolls weren’t edible.
