When I think of what a coffee shop should be, this specific Greenberry's fits the bill. The music plays faintly in the background, enough to hear it but not loud enough to drown out your voice while trying to speak to others and not loud enough to distract you if you need to do serious studying. (I can't count the number of times I've been to Starbucks on E street or in the Gelman library and taken an about face minutes after walking into the store because of the dance club level volume that those coffee shops play music at.) This is a GREAT place for GWU students who want a study spot in the neighborhood and are tired of not finding a seat in the Starbucks closer to campus. This cafe not only feels spacious due to its lay out but has a lot of space for fellow students to have out a laptop, books, etc, without feeling cramped. Come here if you are sick of being packed like a sardine into the tiny chairs and tables available at other local coffee shops. It's a bit of walk in comparison to the coffee shops closer to GWU campus but I can say without a doubt that you will get way more studying done here than if you tried studying at the other coffee shops in this neighborhood. Finally, the staff are extremely friendly, including the owners. On the numerous occasions that I have gone here, the owners have personally greeted me, asked how I was doing, and made me feel very welcome. I loved the ambiance and peaceful environment -- exactly what a coffee shop should be. PS the liquid nitro coffee is awesome!

Being a proud regular of the DC coffee scene, I was surprised to see a top rated coffee shop near where my daughter was born at GWU Hospital. During our hospital visit, I needed an excuse to get some fresh air and found Greenberry's. It turns out it's one of DC's first coffee shops from years ago. It definitely gives off the vibe of a more corporate coffee shop more concerned in providing coffee to the nearby office workers than mastering the art of artisan coffee. It's in the ground floor of an office building and is very sterile. There are a few tables, but most people come and go. They have an array of pastries that look mass produced than handmade. Their coffee isn't bad. They use the standard flavor pumps so don't expect a craft latte or anything, but it is decent. Enjoy!

Extremely overpriced. The manager Jorge was absolutely DISGUSTING and RUDE. Not only did he yell at me because I asked for a refund, but he then refused to give me a receipt and then told me to leave and go to Starbucks, and proceeded to tell me that he never wants to see my face there. THEN PROCEEDED TO TRY TO ACT AS IF HE WAS GOING TO ATTACK ME AND JUMP OVER THE COUNTER! His two coworkers held him back. I will NEVER return and I will make sure that all of my family, friends and coworkers know how horrible my experience was. Verbally assaulting a woman and then acting as if you’re going to hit her? Never again. Horrific customer service, especially from someone who is supposed to be a manager. Never again, it was an absolute nightmare and very embarrassing!

Greenberry was my favourite cafe that I kept returning to during my work trip! Their coffee and pumpkin chai are delicious, and I enjoyed the turkey bacon ranch wrap as well as pastries. Definitely recommend this spot for fast and tasty service.

Visited in May 2022 for lunch. The food and drinks were pretty tasty but it was on the border for being worth the cost. Perhaps it was because of the high cost of dining in Washington D.C. The drinks were mildly carbonated and refreshing teas with a hint of sweetness. We ordered sandwiches (not pictured ) and the serving sizes felt a little small for our liking. The place was busy yet clean and the service was descent. 6/10

Very friendly staff which I see almost everyday who have became almost friends. Especially thanks to Amen who makes great Bevrages I recommend the raspberry hotchocolate. The pastries and snacks are quite delicious. With many salads and sandwiches. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a quick sandwich and a coffee (the wait time is also very short so if your in a hurry you won't be stuttered) or someone who wants to chill out and have a salad or get some work done.

Not only will you find quality refreshments and stellar staff, but also classy clientele. I unknowingly left my wallet with over $100 cash and several credit cards at Greenberry and a kind, honest patron turned it in. The staff reached out to me and I got my wallet back just as I had left it...all in tact. Goodness in the world prevails!!! I should mention my smoothie and lemonade from there were delicious, and I consistently find the staff to be fast, efficient, and friendly!

  • Tiffany Der

Great, friendly staff. I ordered a veggie wrap during a busy time and the ticket accidently got lost (it's a restauraunt, it HAPPENS.) When the staff was alerted of this, they quickly made it on the fly for me and also were generous enough to apologize and give me a free drink card. They handled this in a very friendly and professional manner better than a lot of other places I have been in. I highly reccomend this place as the food is great. I'll be back!

  • Omar Vargas

Finally a great breakfast place 1 block west of the White House!!! Just got the steak, egg and cheese burrito and it was fantastic! For many of you who will read this you know that the prices in this area are outrageous for subpar food or something that looks like an appetizer but Greenberry gives you not only something delicious but portions that will satisfy even a larger gentleman like myself. This will definitely be my go to breakfast spot!!

  • Zachary Shaw

This place is terrible. I came to work for an hour and half and the Wi-Fi expired after an hour. They wouldn’t give me another password and their Wi-Fi sucked so much that it wouldn’t stop autoconnecting to even let me stay and finish my work using my phone’s personal hotspot. Never come here. Staff was unhelpful, unfriendly, and would rather get people in and out in 10 minutes to make money than serve customers.

  • Stephanie Gerson

Only cafe around the business district of Foggy Bottom. Great place for breakfast with sandwiches, platters or burritos. Breakfast and lunch until 2pm. The nitro cold brew was also very good. Plenty of space to work or study, tables next to plugs. Also one communal table for groups. The common area is a little sparce and can use all little tidying up. Same with the menu signs. I spotted a highchair as well.

  • Addie

Not only was my food more expensive than advertised (they have old prices on the menu boards) but the person that prepared it out back conveniently left the avocado out of my chicken avocado wrap. Unfortunately, I had already gotten back to the office when I realized this. Service out front left much to be desired too.

The coffee is good; the food has a long way to go. I ordered the Amanda's Platter (bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, toast). The bacon was cold and soggy. The toast was dry, and served without butter or jam. The hashbrowns inexplicably featured large chunks of uncooked onion. The scrambled eggs were fine. I was excited to have a good breakfast spot near campus, but I left disappointed.

  • Mr. T

Meh. An occasional order mess up, non-attentive staff and long waits make for a “meh” experience. Sometimes, they are happy and sometimes you get the feeling they just dont want to be there. The coffee is disappointing. Not on par with other Greenberry’s like the one inside the Pentagon or the ones you may visit overseas. They could do better and so could you.

  • Chelsea Kinsman

Would really like to be a regular here, especially since it's so close to my office, but Greenberry's only offers single-use disposable plastic cups, utensils, etc. It is incredibly wasteful, and I avoid it for that reason. If I have to do a meeting there, I don't buy anything, since there's no way to avoid generating a significant amount of waste each time.

  • Peter Smyth-Hammond

Nice spot to get a good cup of coffee and a delicious sandwich. The staff moves the line along really well, so don't worry about it taking forever if you see one inside the doors, and they know the menu well. Great spot to check out if you are on the mall and want a spot for a bit to eat and to sit down for a few when planning your next spot to check out!

  • Samantha Ray

Showed up for a mocha before they were open for business but it was training day so they offered me a drink, but warned me they were learning. Honestly, everyone was incredibly friendly and sweet. Loved the cute girl who took my order and honestly, I really enjoyed my almond milk mint mocha. Better than a lot of shops back home. Great job all!

  • Itin Taneja

Horrible experience the new cashier (Randy) was amazing. He accidentally rang the breakfast sandwich instead of lunch the manager Gracie instead of remediating the issue started to express attitude and didn’t offer to replace the sandwich.

Greenberry's is my favorite downtown coffee shop! It starts my workday on a positive note. The staff is super friendly and responsive to my caffeine needs. Thank you to Jorge, who is incredibly kind and considerate when interacting with other customers and me. The food is awesome too-particularly the buffalo chicken wrap.

  • Seety Savage

I love that they're not your usual restaurant that kick you out if you don't buy something,or racist in tell you to get out .I can walk right in get on my laptop in finish school work in order a a strawberry smoothie in the mean time, I wish they had a restroom though lol instead of going next door to wich wich xD lls

  • Jennifer Appel

Everytime I return to DC I stop at Greenberry's. The coffee and food are always fresh and delicious and they have plenty of options! Also, the location has a bit of outdoor seating and plenty of indoor seats with lots of natural light pouring in. It's a great space to sit and do work with WiFi and outlets.

  • S S

I had a cappuccino here the other day and was pleased with my overall experience. This is a good spot if you want a quick and decent coffee while in route to work. There is nitro coffee here as well which looked delicious. The coffee shop is a bit dark when you are away from the windows. Friendly staff.

  • Aleyson Huesgen

Best coffee in DC! I absolutely love Greenberry's! This location is extremely pristine and the have a wonderful selection of coffees and teas. The employees are all very friendly, and the food is delicious! A wonderful place to study or catch up on work! Spacious and inviting. :) (Try the zero cookies!)

  • Daniel Quackenbush

Great place near the Capitol Mall and White House for breakfast and coffee (probably lunch too). Best home fries I ever had and many coffee creations, if you're into that. Regular coffee was great too and the staff were efficient, friendly and were having a good time with each other and in their work!

I'm so happy I discovered this place! It's about a 10 minute walk from my office, and about 5,000 steps up from Starbucks. I was in the mood for iced tea, so I tried their green ginseng "sport tea" and really liked it. It's a tad bit sweet, and an all-around excellent option for a hot summer day.

  • Jeff Rapport

After having a nice breakfast, but suffering what they call " coffee" across the street at Founding Farmers, I wandered into Greenberry's. What a pleasant surprise. The people behind the counter were genuinely pleased that I came in. The coffee and muffin were both excellent. Thanks!

  • Gopal Samant

Was a perfect stop to cool down before hitting the National Mall for the 4th of July fireworks. We tried the mango smoothie and a frapaccino. I loved the mango smoothie. The taste was good and rich(not sure if it was from a concentrate or actual fruit) but I loved it the way it was.

  • Matthew Sobesky

Server was a total d***. You don't put the $ on the menu and then make the customer feel like a total dummy for asking. Nitro brew was bland. Can't believe people come here when there are such better options around the corner. My mistake. Should have walked out.

  • Gerardo Cruz

Had a cappuccino and a "mini" croissant for $8 I feel like it's a bit expensive although the croissant was really good.

Went to pick up sandwich for lunch, got the Turkey Bacon Ranch on sour dough. Very impressed with the sandwich size, quality, and amount of meat. They definitely don't weight and skimp on the meat like they do across the street at Cafe Aria. Would recommend

  • Jessica May

Amazing sandwich! I got the morning veggie sandwich and it was delicious. Everyone else was happy with their sandwiches, but the breakfast sandwiches were especially large. My mint mocha was also delicious. (Pictured is a stacked turkey sandwich)

  • g Bernard Wandel

Sweet little place Very accommodating staff! Pleasant variety of pastries and good breakfast fare! Appears to be a small chain and they're local (va) True story : This location was a Starbucks that actually shut its doors! Hopeful they survive

  • Demetria Jones-Davis

Had a iced Matcha Green Tea with almond milk. It was delicious! They were out of the original drink that I wanted, and the cashier was so kind to help me find a more suitable drink. Geeat customer service even during high traffic times of day.

  • Tawara

The breakfast sandwich here is well worth the price. I had the sausage, egg, and cheese on an English muffin. Then ordered the caramel vanilla latte which was also delicious. Didn't get to take any pictures as the food did not last with me...

  • Audrey Roller

Food was fresh, delicious and healthy. Location was perfect after viewing all the monuments. totally worth the prices. Quick service considering how busy it can get. Lots of tea and coffee selections. Can’t wait to come back!

  • Amber Robey

There was only one person there and they clearly did not want to be there. Handsoap in the bathroom was just foam. I ate a cranberry muffin. It tasted pretty good but was crumbled by the server putting it in the bag.

  • Flaming Cellist

The baristas are always so kind. They gave me a free upgrade if they felt they took to long or didn't have what I was looking for. They always serve with a smile. I have never had a bad experience when I have gone!

  • Jason Lowry

Managed very well. Always a bright face to go along with round notes of java with every swallow. The croissants are the bomb chronic as are the morning harvest muffins. Beware of the pull of the lumpy scone.

  • Shane Myers

***CLOSED ON FRIDAYS*** At least in Summer of 22. Hours not listed. When open, a fantastic coffee shop with good eats. Bummed I walked over there in the swelter of late July in DC to find them closed.

  • Andre Hunter

Standard coffee shop with above average burritos and sandwiches. For omnivores I suggest the daybreak burrito. I gave 4 stars because wait time can be on the lengthy side for prepared food.

  • Amy G

Many happy visits here for breakfast. I've enjoyed everything I've ever had, but the zucchini breakfast boat is especially delicious, a must try! Great service and friendly people as well.

Inconsistent with regards to coffee flavor. Sometimes I get a great cappuccino but the past few times it’s had a terrible burnt taste that made me throw it away after just a few sips.

Staff is friendly and expedient. Someone stated pricey but compared to other competitors I'd say it's actually a discount for what we ordered. Will definitely do it again.

  • David Morar

Relaxed little coffee and tea shop. Fancy made to order teas and coffees, a bit overpriced, but that's to be expected. Their chamomile is, surprisingly, a really good one.

  • Kylie Stamm

My favorite shop - amazing tea, coffee, and breakfast. Whether you want a light bakery snack or a full breakfast burrito, Greenberry's has it all and I'm here for it!

  • Brian Levis

Atmospherics have gone downhill post renovation. Smells like big spray, really brights lights now, nothing on the shelves, doesn’t really feel like a coffee shop.

  • Emily G

Good selection although a bit pricey. Not the quickest service and, since they don’t hand out numbers for orders, distributing the food can be slow and confusing

  • Daniel Edgardo Adorno-Cruz

Good coffee. More of a corporate coffee place, not the place to go for a more customized or adventurous coffee drink. Best for an on the go coffee break.
