I purchased a tres leches cake and was deliberately lied to and sold a regular cake. When I discovered the mistake, I expected to receive either a refund or a tres leches cake. When I called back to voice my complain I received HORRIBLE customer service by a so called manager who refused to give me her name when requested. She further went on to insult me by saying that I should’ve not walked out of the store with the wrong cake even though she was the person who told me that it was a tres leches cake. This so called manager pointed out that I needed to bring back the entire cake WHOLE if I wanted a refund, now how did she expect me to do that? I offered to take back her cake with a couple of pieces that had been cut and she basically said too bad, I’m sorry I gave you the wrong cake and go ahead and write a review if you want. Is this the type of bakery that you want to do business with? It’s a shame that a rude manager like this woman can make a mistake like she did, admit it and then refuse to correct it??

Came here to buy a cake for my grandma’s birthday, I asked the employee which ones are tres leches cakes, so I picked one of those expecting it to be tres leches. Long story short the employee there sold me a cake that was not a tres leches cake and when I called them to let them know they said they would not be able to give me a refund or an exchange for a different cake even though there was only 2 slices taken from it. They said in order to get a refund or exchange for the cake, I had to take them back the whole cake uneaten. Of course my grandma was still going to eat a slice of it, it was her birthday. Didn’t get any type of solution with them in the end, very unprofessional of this bakery I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Received a call back from the business, asking if I had called. As I no longer felt the need to give this company my business, as I previously attempted to reach out 3 times, I didn't feel the need to identify myself. The lady on the other end felt like having an attitude. Not how I would try to regain a customers business If I was in her shoes. Proper customer service needs to be taught here. Also, if you are short staffed, or an extremely busy workshop, then have a voicemail system that actually works. Smallcakes, down the street picked up my call within seconds and was very kind. Recommend them over this place!

I have always passed by this bakery and finally decided to give it a try this weekend. It's such a cute shop, the sweet bread was delicious and my whole family enjoyed them. The reason for 4 stars is the lack of customer service. When I walked in I was barely greeted and the worker helping me seemed to be in a bad mood. I felt like I was bothering her when I had to ask what else they had in the cases since I could barely see over the counter. I don't mind giving this place one more try, I completely understand not everyone is in a good mood 24/7. Hopefully this next time will be a better experience.

The conchas are huge, and best of all they are hands down the best in San Antonio!! I’ve only ever paid cash, but they do have a sign saying they pass the credit card processing fees to the customer (completely legal), but not sure how I feel about that. Take cash. Place is always super clean, great prices. They have a good variety, hopefully they add more as they grow, because they definitely will, the bread incredibly amazing !!!

Best pan dulce ever. I was visiting San Antonio from California and this bakery was recommended. They said it was the best pan dulce. My husband loves pan dulce but I'm not really a fan. After visiting this bakery he laughs now because I kept buying bread from here. It's insane. It is addicting. We were literally hiding pan dulce from each other. And keep in mind I don't really like pan dulce. That's how good it is.

Great conchas(big size and soft). A couple things that can be improved on: -They actually open at 7:30, not 7. That time difference needs to be updated on Google. -I went early morning today right when they opened and bought bolillos. They were obviously from the day prior. Really? This is a bakery. I would assume that bolillos are a popular item and that they out of everything would be made fresh each morning.

  • Jorge Castro

Very good bread has a great variety every day. Also, has delicious personalized cakes flans, gelatin cakes. They are great for any occasions (birthday parties, weddings, XVañeras) you name it they will make it. Come on over and try their delicious sweet bread from Guanajuato bakery once you try it you’ll want to come again. Oh I forgot to mention they also make awesome tamales !! Mmmmmm!

I do have to say that the the pan dulce is excellent, but the customer service to now has left me disappointed. I had a special order that was not filled nor ready for pick up. I ordered in person with the owners, husband and wife and was promised it would be ready at 8:30am. I did call to tell them I was running late for pick up and was advised by the daughter my was order was never put in.

This bakery is a hidden gem! My husband is from Guanajuato and we went there for the first time and knew we would not regret it once we walked through the door and inhaled that heavenly smell! We knew we were in a real bakery! Our eyes just wondered all over! Very hard to pick! It all looked delicious! Best piedras! Best conchas! Overall best bakery in San Antonio! We will be back!

Been here a few times off and on in 2020. Had a great experience every visit. They have a large range of pastries and other baked good. I've been told it's pretty authentic, in reference to their Pan Dulces. Honestly the only thing that's prevented me from coming more is driving on Culebra. I look forward to coming again soon, and hope to see more people try this hole-in-the-wall!

Pan dulce used to be great when this place opened up, same as customer service, now both pan & customer service sucks, the pan tastes old not fresh (the lady, young owner gets mad and gets bothered if you ask questions) I wanted to give it another tried because I used to get pan from here when it was good but not anymore, not worth it, pricey, not fresh bad customer service.

  • Marcos Garcia-36

Worst possible place to order cakes. Don't even try to order a tres leches from them they will give you the wrong cake and offer no reimbursement, no refund, no credit and absolutely no customer service whatsoever. Come here if your ok with paying for the incorrect cake and having them make you feel like it's your fault for ordering from this place!

  • Anna Del Sol

An authentic Mexican bakery that prides itself in great customer service and friendly staff. Earlier this month I stopped in for the purchase of a Rosca de Reyes as it is a tradition in my family to eat on the Epiphany of the Lord (January 6th). This Rosca was soft and delicious. The strawberry filling was a delight. I recommend you stop by.

  • Jaime Contreras

At first the tres leches cakes were really good and moist. Then the last two times we ordered them there (by the way they are not cheap, they charge a lot for them) they were dry and really cheap on the filling. Now they charge you extra if you use a debit card. Not a good deal since most of us don’t carry much cash around.

  • Krystal Robb

Bought a whole cake here today and it was the worst cake I've ever had. Frosting was dry ans tasted old and lacking flavor and inside tasted like they used cheap ingredients. Do not recommend. I also got a tres leches jello and it tasted like nothing. Maybe their pan dulce is better but over all not a good experience.

  • Jose Olivas

Good tasting sweet bread, but everytime we buy prices change. I understand each bread has a different price but we usually buy the same bread that we like and we always pay different. I would recommend for them to put the prices so costumers can see how much they are spending and not be surprised by the total.

  • Mark Magana

I've only tried their conchas and bolillos. The conchas are actually quite big and good. Each one is $1.25. As for the bolillos, they are $0.75 each and aren't that great. I've been here first thing in the morning and mid afternoon and always feel their bolillos are made the previous day. Maybe it is just me.

  • Joe Delgadillo

The pan de huevo is really tasty. Very soft on a Sunday afternoon. The marranitos were a bit dry and the empanadas are only half filled and the rest is bread dough. A bit more pricey but the pieces are much larger. The pan de huevo or concha is the winner here and will definitely return just for that.

  • Roberto Almanza

Yeah, the price is higher than other places, BUT you're paying for the best quality and tasty pan dulce in town (and the pieces are pretty big). The bread is soft, moist, dense, and delicious. You can't go wrong with anything you choose. The person at the counter is always helpful and friendly.

  • James Toole

I picked up a selection of their pastries this morning to go with our coffee - mostly the empanadas. The sweet potato empenada was especially tasty. The little pig that tasted kind of like ginger bread was fantastic dipped in my coffee. My wife is thrilled with everything. We'll be back soon.

  • Mary Aldrich

Panaderia was clean. It has a traditional smells of a good panaderia and the bread was fresh, soft and delicious.

This place has the best pan dulce!! My husband loves sweet bread but after a few visit he feels it just isn't the same at those other places. We have picked up sweet bread from this place a lot now and it's always great. We even pick up as a gift to visit others. Must try!

  • John Alva

The pastries here are not dried-out within minutes or even an hour after baking. Still soft several hours after made like normal bread! And the taste is spot-on authentic! I have been eating Mexican sweet-bread in San Antonio for 45yrs. This is the best I have ever had!

  • Y Leija

Pan de huevo is the softest I’ve ever had and not only that it’s delicious too. As others have said most pdh either starts off dry or gets dry after a day. This one does not! It is consistently great quality. The place is clean. I definitely recommend.

  • Cristina Martinez

Omg the bread their was like a day old. I spent 10, and the only good thing was the cookies . Now I ask her what is new and I don't want anything old ..I thing they sell everything on Monday old or not because they are close on Tuesday. Not Good.

  • Stephanie Hernandez

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. My parents were looking forward to trying this place out and unfortunately, received rude customer service. There were no labels or names for all the breads and pastries so my parents resorted to

  • Natalia G

This place just smelled of perfection from the moment I walked in. It reminded me of real panaderías in Mexico. I got some fresh conchas off the cooling rack and I am a concha connoisseur. The absolute best conchas I’ve ever had in my life.

  • Aurora Gomez

We found this place about a year and a half ago , they are so friendly and there prices are reasonable . And now we try to make it in every other weekend . Their pastries are the best and her custom cakes are awesome and reasonable.

  • Jorge M.

Very refreshing to come across a Panaderia Mexicana with some really really good pan dulce! Along with the great taste, the size of the pieces is very impressive! You definitely owe this little gem a visit!!

  • Dominique Salinas

Very authentic! You can taste the quality and moistness and the pastries don’t dry out like other places do. Still tastes fresh later on! I recommend this place 10/10 especially their pan dulce and empanadas

  • Ara Gar

Highly recommend! Place is VERY clean, bread tastes amazing (like Mexico's), and it does not get hard the next day. It is actually very soft and perfectly sweetened. Cust svc is also great, a must go place.

  • Mary-Margaret Echevarria

Best place I've been to in the longest time!! The conchas and pan de muerto are TO DIE FOR!! I had stopped eating conchas because they were too dry. Their conchas are soft, fluffy, and DELICIOUS!

  • Rachel M Garza

Went here for 1st time and it will be my go to place. Deliciousness!! Pan dulce is big and fresh. They also have donuts and other mouth watering pastries as well as specialty cakes to order.

  • Robert jc

The bread is good there, especially the pan de huevo, but the pictures of the advertising of the bread are never there, I’ve been there. Few times and they never have what I’m looking for.

  • Jessika Jade

If I could give this place zero stars I would!!! A lady named CYNTHIA was so rude and seemed bothered when I was asking her about certain items! NEVER AGAIN!!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • james mann

Best, Pan Dulce (when I want to cheat) but the have a great tasting Keto option when I’m not going to cheat as well. Their service is so friendly unlike that more “Popular” place.

  • Gus Garcia

1st time was great. Since then the. Shelves are empty. Including this morning. How this bakery can stay in business is beyond me. Have been back 3 times and still no bread.

  • Jason Lopez
