As with the yeadon branch, the service at this GP is untenable. The phone booking system is appalling. Why not just go back to being able to book an appointment like you would any other service? If there's no appointments today, allow people to book one for the next day, or the day after. The sheer length of the phone messages you have to listen to before you get to even queue is ridiculous .You then frequently get cut off once you get to number 2 in the queue. I haven't had a GP appointment since pre covid and the only advice I get is to go to an urgent care centre. I probably have an infection. I have a history of them and yet I am going to spend hours blocking up a and e tonight to get antibiotics. All because this practise will not see me. They didn't even have the courtesy to have a doctor of nurse call me. Instead a receptionist is giving out care advice. That is just the latest in a long long line of disappointments and I would wholly recommend you look elsewhere for medical care. I still have text after text that they send out en masse saying don't ring us we are too busy. Doing what I'm not sure, but caring for patients is obviously not on the list.
Imagine a surgery ran by James Corden, the current government and that really annoying guy from Friends who loves absolutely everything, you know, he’s played by Alec Baldwin. I write this as I’m quite literally struggling to breathe. I have been attempting to ring to arrange for a prescription-an inhaler for asthma-because the app the use also will not let me get one. The telephone system is ridiculous. You can only ring for a prescription between certain hours (which doesn’t help those of us who you know, HAVE A JOB SO CAN’T RING) and on the odd occasion I have been able to ring, the phone has literally never been answered. It is seemingly impossible to arrange for a prescription. I should also mention I don’t even bother arranging for an appointment. There’s no point. No way to book online, booking over the phone is also impossible because I HAVE A JOB. When you do ring you either don’t get through or get cut off. Oh and we can’t forget them losing results of a blood test and having the receptionist literally shout at me to tell me that no it wasn’t their fault and I’ll have to rearrange another. Awful.
The phone service is abominable l,wait in queue until no 3 the get dialing tone then ent back to queue all the time being told 'your call is important to us '. This is after you try several time only to be told we are at capacity and terminating the call . If there was a negative score the phone service would get -5. All is not lost, the receptionist are long suffering and really really helpful and I have found will do all in their power to help. Special mention from the young lady formerly from the local national pharmacy who deserves 10+ on her own. You rarely see same doctor leading to fragmented service with many locums used, I believe we get there in the end but a long way round. This used to be an excellent local practice which appears to have lost its way recovery being held back by phone service.
Review based on the situation with the coronavirus ! I managed to park right outside the building and able to unload my wheelchair directly onto the road next to a dropped kerb . There are steps up to the main door and a ramp entrance just a few yards up on your left . With covid restrictions in place the main door was shut . I used the disabled button to release the door and it opened and swung towards me !!!! I had to Manage through this door and report to reception on my right . Having done that there is another door which also opens towards you . Not a lot of wiggle room with a decent size chair . The waiting room was empty but had only a few well spaced out chairs . After leaving I had a look around and there is a small car park nearby on opposite side of road .
If I could give zero or minus stars I would. This has been my family GP for as long as I can remember, Dr Jaques used to see my great grandmother years ago. However right now trying to use the GP service is a totally miserable experience. Wait in queues for anything up to 90 minutes for the call to go unanswered. No matter what time you call it seems impossible to get any kind of apppointment here anymore. Today I rung as my 5 year old has been up all night with ear ache, again waited in a queue and then the line cut me off. I dont even want an appointment, just maybe speak to a doctor or nurse over the phone. Luckily I'm moving to Otley in the near future so I can change surgery. I'm writing this for anyone else thinking of using this surgery. DON'T.
Don’t understand how this doctors is still standing. I’m not one to complain and write and reviews but I’m sick of not being able to get through via phone call every-time without a doubt I ring I’m in a queue then get cut off. Then I call back and it just calls and no one picks up. The receptionist are usually very rude apart from one or two that I have actually been very grateful for how helpful they were, other than that the rest are useless and should NOT be working in a job far from customer facing/ public interaction! I rarely ring the doctors but when I do I’m ringing because I genuinely need to see a doctors, it may not be life threatening but I need to speak/ see a doctor.. simple. This shouldn’t be hard to do.
35 minutes just to get through to reception then met with a Disgusting attitude from reception, rung to arrange to speak to pharmacist as I'm out of urgent medication, as I was holding another member of staff was slagging me off for ringing on a Friday when I pulled the receptionist up on her gobby colleague the "Manager" took the phone off her and had an appalling rude, ignorant attitude! They are meant to try and help but are an embarrassment to the surgery. Uncaring, Rude, Ignorant
Never known anything like it - can't get through to book an appointment and as the appointments are for my 3 month old baby I usually end up using the 111 service. If by some miracle I do manage to get through, they have no appointments in Guiseley so have to go to Yeadon..again, not ideal with a baby. Anytime I've gone we are also waiting for an absurd amount of time..I've been asked to come in early before, to then have to wait past my original time slot...this had to get sorted!
I was told I would get a referral on the 26th June, didn't hear anything so rang in August. I was told the doctor would ring me to speak to me about my referral, never heard anything. I rang again yesterday and received a copy of my referral, dated today. Now if I don't hear anything I have to contact them on the 2nd November. Absolutely ridiculous. I completely understand there is strain on the NHS, but this is just incompetence at my referral not being sent
Wouldn’t recommend. They often send text messages to say they have a message and for you to call them, only to have you waiting on hold for at least 45 minutes to give you a message that you already knew about. Some receptionists rude. Never any appointments at Guisleley and have to fight for appointments at Yeadon. Have to chase everything and they dont respond to the online form. Only positive I would say is that they did see my newborn on the day I rang.
A very big thank you to everyone involved in the Covid vaccination . I went for mine this morning and it was so well organised from arriving to departing. I cannot praise them enough. I understand they were mostly, volunteers. They were very helpful, polite and very cheerful. I found it a pleasurable experience. Thank you one and all and may you all have a very happy Christmas. You are very much appreciated.
Doctor has a go at me for not signing in, yet the sign in machine wasn't working, went to the clerk who sent me to a different clerk, asked my name and said to sit down. If that isn't booking in, I don't know what is. If there are 5 doctors seeing 5 patients and hours on a 7 hour day the surgery could see 175 patients a day. These are minimal numbers yielding a good net of patients, so what is the issue.
Quite possibly the worst GP services I've ever had... Called today and waited an hour on the phone - got to position 1 and no one ever answered. If no one is on Reception please turn off the queue or put a general message on so we don't waste our time waiting to be answered. So many people must be going unseen and not getting help...Appalling... And the hold music haunts me in my dreams now
88 year old dad just out of hospital with heart failure tried to ring three times and no one answering the phone. I needed to discuss his medication. Ended up emailing. Shameful service in my book. Can i now add to the above and say that night someone from admin messaged me out of hours after i had emailed them and they have now contacted my dad.
Horrific service.. not only do you have to wait weeks on end to get an appointment - but the receptionist is out right rude and obnoxious could do with some training in being compassionate, caring & also have a professional attitude! it has got to be one of if not the worst surgery in the area. Formal complaint incoming.
Seriously, it would be far easier and quicker to qualify as a Doctor and treat yourself than get an appointment here. Absolutely no point in ringing for an appointment because the phone is never answered. Being a patient at this practice is akin to having the Sword of Damocles above your head. Shameful.
It is now functionality impossible to get an appointment or even speak to someone and I've had no response to a prescription request for urgently needed mediation. I expect other patients have been badly harmed by this state of affairs.
I've had very positive experiences with many members of this practice and they are generally very kind and supportive. I commend this high level of care, during what has been a personally challenging time for me!
Dreadful practice. You literally cannot get through on the phone. It's an absolute disgrace. I will be changing my registered GP as soon as I can - no doubt I will have to visit in person to sort this though!!
I wounder why everyone is leaving a 1 star review? Maybe it’s the extremely rude receptionists. Absolutely no bedside manner. They really don’t have any compassion for people. I hope they get new staff soon
Not particularly helpful. Emergency medication not being signed off within 48hrs is shocking. The sarcastic "live in hope', when asked if it would be completed by the end of the day, is just disgraceful.
What has happened to the reception? They never answer the phone. The menu options when calling them is also no longer available either. It's spoiling what is normally a descent doctors practice.
The phone line keeps hanging up on me before when I'm number 2 in the queue already been on 50 mins in all and I haven't had chance to book any appointment it's disgusting service
Disgusting service, unable to get an appointment to review medication for mental health. Left 10 days without medication which has serious side effects when not taking.
This service is non existent. It’s a disgrace and you should be ashamed of your consistent failures. No one cares and leaves it’s patients left helpless!
The doctors at this practice really care about their patients and the walk in appointments mean you can always see a doctor if you get there before 10am.
Can’t get an appointment, same old story, ring back tomorrow or book online which cannot be done because the service has been withdrawn.
Been a patient for over a year and never been able to get an appointment. Reception literally never answer their phone.
Nobody on the phone line in reception so how are you supposed to book an appointment.
Poor telephone answering service
Staff efficient yet friendly
