"The bank interior itself is nice, but that is the only nice thing about this branch"
"Could there be a worst branch in London? Placed on a waiting list by 'door man' (3 ahead), then random people just get served"
"AVOID THE COUNTER SERVICE IF YOU CAN! It's a fine branch if you can use the self-service machines and pop in and out quickly but god help you in the instances you need to queue up to speak to a cashier, which sometimes you've got no choice but to do"
"The worst customer service and incompentent staff I have ever come across"
"Despite there being quite a number of people in the branch, I didn't have to wait longer than a minute to be seen"
The bank interior itself is nice, but that is the only nice thing about this branch. This is more like walking into a low end phone shop or budget sportswear shop when you get up close. Staff wearing trainers & unironed clothes. Talking amongst themselves. Absolutely disgusting customer service. I was served by George at North End in Croydon who blatantly just wanted to finish work. Fair play, but my account is locked due to an error by the bank & I've been advised by phone banking to come here straight away. I'd already been on the phone for over 2 hours to HSBC to be told I now have to go to any branch with ID to unlock my account. Was told it was very simple & wouldn't take long .. so I go, I felt like an inconvenience from the moment I walked in. Got there at 4:30pm, bank shuts at 5pm, after 20 mins of George being on the phone, checking my ID, I was then told by George he'll call me tomorrow because "he ain't waiting on the phone as he's finishing work soon" .. I expect to be treated with respect as a customer. I wasn't even given an explanation or given a time he'll call me. He just wanted to get going as he's finished now. He even said I should of got there earlier, wow! I left work early, spent 2 hours on the phone, came straight to the bank to be told I'll get a call tomorrow, no time given. George had the attitude of a 13 year boy whos been told off. Definitely should NOT be the representative of an international bank. As you can read by the other reviews on here, HSBC is a bank you should completely avoid.
Could there be a worst branch in London? Placed on a waiting list by 'door man' (3 ahead), then random people just get served. (Overhead the client rep saying she doesn't know how to do a current account switch, so didn't see me). After 30min wait asked the doorman what's happening as random people get served. Still 3 ahead. Told him I was ahead of the lady being served and he said she went out and came back. ( I actually asked him to give me a time slot so I can pop out and run an errand). Door man said "run your errand and I keep you on list". Back after 20mins with same people waiting. #SMH After another 15mins saw a client rep. Two client reps serving 1 boy and his mum (new account opening?), that took over 50mins, like they're having a casual chat over nothing. Overheard the rep telling them "If you have issues paying an overdraft you can call xyz." Seriously!!?? Why not live within your means like the rest of the people that work? Whole place became a waiting room due to some over privileged clients acting like they banking at Coutts. [Update 22Sep22] So after waiting almost 3 weeks for my current account switch, I called HSBC to check what's the delay. Turns out nothing was inputted for the switch to happen. I literally queued up for nothing. This branch needs to be shut down or staff replaced. Total sh!t-h0le!!!!
AVOID THE COUNTER SERVICE IF YOU CAN! It's a fine branch if you can use the self-service machines and pop in and out quickly but god help you in the instances you need to queue up to speak to a cashier, which sometimes you've got no choice but to do. - Long queues with people often pushing in without consequences - Inconsiderate and rude staff often at open windows doing their own chores, sometimes even openly having lunch even when there is clearly a long queue of people who've been waiting for ages and are getting frustrated - Too many inexperienced or trainee staff who don't know what they're doing which contributes to the ridiculous wait times - Pens to fill out paying in forms often not working or unavailable Like most banks, these dirtbags make MILLIONS from our deposits and rather than hire staff and make in-branch experiences better using that windfall they instead prefer to help illegally launder money for Mexican drug cartels.
The worst customer service and incompentent staff I have ever come across. Staff don't know anything about HSBC products being offered, things as simple as HSBC credit cards for which the young lady said they didn't offer, the branch manager walks around aimlessly and there is favoritism which different customers walking in as if it is a family affair. I thought an issue was resolved in branch only to find out 2-3 weeks later they hadn't sent of the paper works/processed anything. A very useless branch. Might as well do everything online.
Despite there being quite a number of people in the branch, I didn't have to wait longer than a minute to be seen. I initially came in just to get my account type upgraded, but I was also able to get a lot of information about managing my finances intelligently. Darren was incredibly helpful, and I really appreciated his willingness to talk me through some things that are going to very useful down the line, and I've already started to put some of these into practice. By far, the best banking customer experience I've ever had.
I visited Metro Bank, Natwest, HSBC and Barclays all in Croydon today. Metro Bank, Natwest and HSBC I was able to walk in and see a representative within minutes who were able to help me review my accounts plus help set up new ones. All three show exemplary customer service. Barclays unfortunately by far is the worst ques staff who cant be bothered and a month waiting list to talk to someone maybe Barclays should focus on customer service rather then closing all their branches.
For a person who had newly moved UK, I had a great experience in opening my first UK bank account. I was guided perfectly on the documents required and they allow walk-in requests, unlike all the other major banks which given insanely delayed appointment dates. A huge shout-out Mr. Ramy who was very polite, helpful and quick at his work. I was very pleased with his service (Our lives would be easier, if all banks' employees are like him!)
Today - March 31, 2021 - a male caucasian HSBC staff named " GRANT " was pleasant, accommodating and genuinely helpful to us customers waiting in our queue. I hope that other staffs (that i knew who are RUDE) will follow his example dealing customers. I also commend the good, helpful , friendly, patiently supportive staffs (as always) who are AMAN, NEETA & HANA. Respectfully yours, DR. MELVIN DE GUZMAN Customer
Although looking crowded and busy most of the time the service is excellent. The door business is handled impeccably and diplomatically and one is quickly routed to the right area. Everyone is pleasant, helpful and efficient albeit that they do not match up to the sartorial standards of the 1950'sThe level of professionalism and care and the clear desire to be helpfully effective is always apparent.
Very poor service every time I've used this branch. The staff have no clue what their own policies are, often contradicting information on their own website and even their colleagues. If you try to point out their mistakes, they dont listen. I ended up opening an account with NatWest instead who have been much better. I would suggest avoiding HSBC or at least this specific branch at all costs.
Ginger haired male in the Croydon HSBC was very rude and gave us the wrong information making us walk up and down Croydon for a letter that he later said can’t be used as evidence at the bank. Very disrespectful and wouldn’t cooperate properly. However Sinead at this bank was very helpful and resolved my problem within 5 minutes. Thank you but you need to hire better staff.
Awful branch, service is useless as anything. Wasted 2 hours there waiting and left without resolving my issue. Only 2-3 members of staff who takes their time even to walk. Would not recommend to open an account here as well. Bureaucracy is over the roof. Use better one of the online banks such as Revolut or Monzo. You will thank me later!
I was standing in the queue to deposit Euros in to my account with the sign above Travel Money but when i got to the window she told me she does not do travel money and i had to wait again in another queue when i got to that window, Kerry-Ann the cashier skips me and takes another customer, thats what you call a customer cervice ?
Had a very pleasant experience visiting this branch. Came to register a power of attorney and a staff member called Mehul assisted me. Not only was he able to solve my matter, he did so professionally and with efficiency. The whole branch and cashier staff are always so helpful and kind.
Right on the high street. Be careful when using ATM machines outside. Close to west Croydon overground train station. Adjacent to Witgift shopping centre. Gets really crowded on a peak time. Always have some extra time when visiting. You can park car at house of Fraser building parking.
Man at the door couldn't get me out of there fast enough sent me home with another secure key that doesn't work. Very long waiting times and he sent me to 3 parts of the branch where I had to wait at each place and then left with no solution to my problems in fact its worse.
Out of four pay-in machines, three were not working when I arrived and the fourth one broke while I was waiting in the queue. 40 mins to accomplish a simple transaction. The highest level of incompetence from the managing staff. Why were they hired at all?
Excellent staff. I had been there to open my bank account and was assisted by Darren Mitchel. The process was made seamless thanks to him. I was in and out of there within 30 minutes, having opened my account and advised on financial management.
Wow! Thank to M. Duda (I hope I got that right) for helping me with an account set up. Very satisfied, very helpful. Not as quick as I was spoiled by the internet-banking, but 30 minutes to get an account in a high-street bank is cool. Thanks!
Last week we had to get an account there.. Simon the very great person do all the help for that.. very friendly and helpful staff.... patiently waiting for the response and everything we had done there... thanks Simon for the great help...
I went into this bank today for the first time to sort out the Power of Attorney for my dad. A young man called Dan helped me. He was very pleasant and helpful. Although the bank was busy, it appeared very well organised. Thank you.
If I could give zero stars i would. Terrible service and to match the attitude of staff. Who wants a bank clerk in ripped jeans and boots. Stroppy attitude from your man at the desk (Dan) more concerned about his ego than helping
I think HSBC is from another era. The conditions are really worst. Not sure why anyone would open an account here. I am stuck with them for so many years and can't wait to be able to get rid of them.
As a cancer survivor and been with them since 16 they refused to extend my overdraft whilst I was up and down the motorway at these times looking after mum. Will they be getting my pension?
Thanks to Mr Darren Whitehall for helping to open a joint account today. Very happy with the customer service, he made the process very quick and easy. We really appreciate your effort.
we have a payment problem with our supplier, does someone can help me? we paid it on May.16, 2023, but until today July.14, he still didn't receive the money, am I be cheated?
Lovely staff always friendly and ready to help!!! I love this branch as it’s full of self service machines for speed! They also have the old school counter if you prefer.
Does not exist wasted a full hour travelling to find out there is no building. Other closed down branches stop appearing but fir some reason this one still remains.
Good customer service and an array of self service machines and coin counter available for account holders ....saves a lot of time especially during busy periods
There was a very long queue to see a staff. Only one was working. The waiting time is more than an hour. They also allowed people to cut the queue. Ridiculous.
Long wait to get in and was surprised - as we're a number of people - that it Opens at 10am when everywhere else is 9am. It closes at 4pm during the weekday.
Great customer service. Came in asking for help with a graduate loan but was told that I'd have to go to their other branch which was quite tricky to find.
Darren helps to open the current account and saving account. He is very supportive to introduce banking processes and details, effective in communication.
A very rude member of staff wearing a hoodie (is that the dress code in the bank?) at the door navigating the customers. Extremely underimpressed.
Unhelpful and rude staff. Also coin machine is constantly broken. Been going there every week for a month now and it's still not fixed.
Worst branch I’ve ever been to. Been with hsbc for over 20 years and this branch refused to give me my own money. Absolutely shocking.
RUDE STAFF! Absolutely unhelpful! Miserable looking people! Avoid this branch and visit another location for your needs!
Only branch open on Saturdays for miles around. But there are no counter services open on a Saturday. Ridiculous.
No branch in Croydon one closed for good and the other having a refit but no date to say when it will 're open
Overcrowded and not enough experienced staff available. Very helpful team once you get to see someone
The worst HSBC service I ever seen. I been there 3 times and never ever again!
They say that they open at a 9:30 but it is never opened at that hour.
Always has a long queue going out the door. Extremely slow service.
Thank you rockel for giving the best customer service . you star
hsbc. 30yrs banking with them. great service. staff helpful.
