This Art Deco building that was refurbished in the mid 1990s. In full use by train and bus services since then. A volunteer operated historic section as a museum is above the lobby with some displays in the lobby. Some office space is rented in the tower. Washrooms, a licensed cafe, convenience store and ticketing offices are in the fully accessible lobby. The lobby has defined hours it's open. Not all the shops or offices are open the lobby hours. The trains and most buses are accessible. A taxi stand is outside the north east side (nearest the GO ticket windows). There is a ramp and and elevator for the train platform. The ramp is accessed from the east bus area. The train platform is a paid ticket area. No payments are collected on the train, either use the Presto card or buy a ticket from the machine or at the ticket window. Fare inspectors are frequent enough on the trains. Automated ticket machines for GO transit are available 24/7, don't buy if travel is more than 2 hours later. These machines are located in the bus area which is open 24/7. Some bus routes run at least hourly 24/7 such as the route that includes Pearson Airport - #40 Richmond Hill. Served by HSR, GO Transit, Greyhound and other bus services. Some HSR bus routes do not enter the station and are caught at bus stops on James St S at Hunter St W or on John St S (usually to exit.) Hamilton BikeShare has three stations nearby. Communauto has vehicles nearby. Rental car companies are about 4 blocks away. Hamilton's James Monroe Airport is a one bus ride on HSR caught from a street stop to the north west at James and Hunter.
The bus driver who was driving to Aldershot Go today for the 10:25 departure was absolutely rude. He sat there with the no service sign on the bus so no one knew if that was the Aldershot Go bus or not. Another lady went to ask for directions and he finally turned the sign at the top of the bus to Aldershot Go so I went to the bus. My presto didn't tap for some reason and he immediately caught an attitude. I asked if I could load my card from my app/check my app for the issue and be said "the bus was supposed to leave 3 minutes ago, you had lots of time to check your card when you were standing over there doing whatever it was you were doing" and when I brought up the fact he was sitting there with the no service sign on he said "well I have to go ma'am I don't care about your life choices". I was standing waiting for the Aldershot Go bus because this guy decided to sit there with the no service sign on and if you were supposed to leave 3 minutes ago then why were you just sitting there with the no service sign on doing nothing? No idea who hurt this guy but he really didn't need to be that rude. Change your sign next time.
Convenient. Especially if you are going to Toronto. Always as which bus. Look for men or women in a yellow vests. They will help you Safe to arrive at night. A place to report your lost item. Good customer care treatment. But there is hardly anyone at the front desk. It is always empty. I do not understand why it has to be this way. Not just here but also in Mississauga. I nearly missed the bus there while I missed two buses in Hamilton because everything is automated. It is supposed to make things easier but complicates it because you have to figure out what is the name of your stop and then you have to look it up on the big screen. If you just go there and ask no one yet you are new around you will miss your bus. I missed two. Remember the same route same number of the bus. All you have to know is the number of the bus and your stop The screen will give you an estimated time to leave. I insist guys in yellow-striped vests will help you if you do not know what to do. Have a presto card or debit or credit card to pay at the bus door or use ATM to get a receipt. If you do not know how to use ATM ask anyone. Thanks.
This was the first time using this station. My wife needed to get to Toronto for business and I was headed back home to the US on a flight from Buffalo. After an easy drive on the QEW, we entered the town of Hamilton. Then the drive turned nerve-wracking as the streets narrowed, the stop lights multiplied, and the neighborhoods became numerous. All these things made the stop and go execution painful. When we finally arrived at the GO station, we were confused because there are NO signs indicating that the Station entrance is for BOTH trains and buses. Because we were looking for the Toronto bus and could only see train tracks, we drove around the block and turned into a neighborhood looking for help. Luckily, a nice lady saw us and told us they were one in the same, and that we could park on the RIGHT side of the road in a drop-off area. There were signs, but too small to actually read while driving on the two-lane one-way street. All in all, very confusing and just too stressful. We'll use another GO station further east to avoid this next time!
I've had several problems with this place closing super early. The Presto station refuses to accept bills and has left me stranded numerous times to walk back to stoney creek. I attempted to load 5, 10, 20 with bills and all machines outside would reject it. It's a huge inconvenience seeing as people are still travelling whether within the city or elsewhere to have these "PRESTO SERVICES" not being responsive. Numerous times they've been out of order for actual cash or bills.... Also, the amount of time it takes for funds to be loaded .....4-6 hours...... and sometimes not even within that time period..... is absolutely ridiculous. Two ladies. One blonde hair with glasses and another one with curly hair - refused any sort of customer service regarding presto. They were FAR LESS FROM HELPFUL.
This day and age it should be illegal to build a public building, especially one that often has lots of people waiting around in it, without any power outlets. It took me some creative measures to find an outlet behind one of the information monitors to charge my mobile device while I waited for the next bus. This is not just a matter of convenience or courtesy, it is about safety. People need to be able to stay connected with family and friends. What if they missed a bus or train or they need to inform someone of a schedule change and they can't charge their phones? Fix this!! Also, how come the trains stop at Aldershot? Would it really cost that much more to come to Hamilton? It's ridiculous that Burlington has hourly train service into the evening yet Hamilton doesn't? Makes zero sense.
After repeated complaints to staff about cleanliness and the drug periphanilia laying about no effort or precautions for passengers besides text 7777 if need assistance. Every morning the walkway is littered with needles and people literally doing drugs in front of staff. This station keeps getting worse everyday. During Pandemic: Not a public system for the people. Passangers have to all wait in a 30sq foot arra as they have all sesting blocked off except 4 seats in the whole place. Seems they do not understand social distancing or passangers with disabilities. Alot to work on here, yet they state they do have standards for commuters, double standards taking place. With the delays and cancellation of trains expect wait times or another mode of transportation perhaps.

Not rewarding this bus service with my money. I'm not taking 4 buses and 2 trains to get from Hamilton to Toronto. You would think getting a single route from the biggest city to the biggest city would exist. Nope. If they want my money offer the bare minimum like a bus like 4 and 2 trains. Ridiculous. Why would I reward this trash service. Instead of trying to save money by dropping the Quality of the service which leads to no one then using try to improve the service. Idk just an idea but get a bus to do the bare minimum. Your only going to lose more money. You just lost my money because you couldn't offer the bare minimum
Really good station, nice set up and seating (it's a mini Union lol). The store has a lot of items in it and pretty decent coffee. They now have a couple trains that go straight through to Union without transfer which is awesome! Hope they add more of those. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is because of a very ignorant attendant I dealt with the first time I used Go Transit from this station. Totally lost about the fact trains actually left from there and asked for her help and she pretty much told me to refer to the screen and go away... not happy about that.
I recently took a go bus from here to Toronto Pearson Airport. The bus station is filled with unsavory characters, and all the kiosks were closed. I did manage to find an employee who directed me toward the sole working ticket machine. Other than that, my journey went without a hitch. Bus left on time, ticket was quite affordable, there were several stops along the route... no to much to say. If anyone from GO transit is reading this, I would suggest that any airport bus have an area to store luggage. Seems like a no brainer.
PSA: Yes, it looks like there are washrooms here, and the NoGo website says they exist, but you can't use them. There are trashcans inside and outside, and judging by the smell sometimes I imagine they're being used for that purpose. The tunnel on John Street is a little more private than the one on James Street. Just saying. And it's worth asking the staff what today's excuse is (crackheads smashed the toilets, real good cleaning, water is shut off, nah - we just like to see you squirm...)
I had an outstanding experience with the staff at this location. Two employees went above and beyond to help me retrieve a parcel I left behind on a train. They were both very kind, and chose to help when they did not have to - they could have told me I was out of luck, and to wait for the parcel to reach the lost and found in a few days. Instead, they took their time to return to the train and retrieve the bag. Very surprised and happy with this encounter :)
Horrible service. I got off the bus in Hamilton because I needed to return back to Toronto where I had just come from and the woman who was working at 11pm would not give me the ticket to go home because it didn’t say Toronto but it said union. Which is Toronto. She was extremely rude. I wasted another amount of fare just to go back where I came from. She was a b*tch and should be fired. Terrible. I will never take the Go ever again.
The staff in the booth and manning the bus platforms were very helpful. The place is wide open and someone was smoking pot outside which stunk up things badly. It was a bit dirty. We had a hard time figuring out routes from the signs and couldn't determine if the train goes here without asking. Turned out the GO train goes to Aldershot and you catch the 18 here to get there. Simple enough but we needed to ask someone to know that.
I really like how mulptiple Hamilton public transit drives directly into the Go center and the drivers give kind and thoughtfully brief directions to where to go in the terminal like bathroom or even where the ticket booth is! Personally i like how they have a store and coffee shop with non expesive drinks and various foods...and the one or two ticket book on the left facinging them will help with your presto pass questions.
GO drivers can really learn to be more humane. They can't even wait for 1 sec for a passenger running to their stop, even when they see it. Once they close the door that's it, no way its opening again. I've had other buses from HSR, oakville transit pick me up before the stop, if they see me running to the stop. And btw putting a NOT in Service sign on the bus display does not help, when you are driving an actual route.
I’ve killed a lot of time in many GO stations from Ajax to Port Credit, Bramalea to Malton and many others. Compared to other stations it’s one of the best ones. Plenty of seating, convenience store, cafe. The staff have always been courteous and helpful in my experiences, but that can be said for the majority of GO workers including drivers, except for those rare few times. I can easily give this GO station 5 stars
The way the Go busses are laid out is so stupid! Because of the fact that I was in the right zone, but the wrong side of the hallway yhat separates them, I missed my bus. It said that I was at the right platform, but I didn't realize that busses service multiple platforms in the same zone. So very confusing, which delayed me by 30 minutes. Not a very friendly system for people qho are unfamiliar with a station.
It's very friendly and clean but is totally automated now the staff behind the glass partitions tell you to go buy your ticket at one of the ticket machines outside which is ok but sometimes you have questions, but when you go back to ask your questions about your upcoming trip there's no one there,. But I guess it's the price we have to pay for progress.
The people working here are real friendly and there's an adequate amount of seating for most circumstances. Easy to access and move around and a small convenience store and restaurant to grab some stuff in a rush. The interior could use some updating but is entirely adequate for the a transit station. Major area for improvement would be the washrooms.
Great place to catch your ride out to Toronto. While GO does provide stops enroute to the highway, it's best to catch it at the station. Not only do you get to see a piece of history with it's old school benches and ticket booths, but you are more likely to get a seat on the Hamilton Express to Toronto, rather than stand the whole way there.
The is a relatively small, yet convenient Go Station, in the heart of downtown Hamilton. Usually clean, the beautiful Art Deco style inside stands out in time. The bus station can be a bit rough but that's a problem of the city not the station itself. There is a convenience store inside that is open fairly early for purchases.
An Art Deco beauty. Best pictures are taken from Hunter St. Another example of the wonderful old architecture Hamilton is increasingly gaining popularity amongst artists/filmmakers for. Worth a visit, great seating inside as well as a little store that offers those last minute needs before hopping a regional bus or train.
Great service but I needed a drink.. I look down I'm like sweet ill get an arizona... the convenience store in the Station was like $4... I needed a drink and feel really stupid for paying it... like how do you figure charging $4 for arizona.. is it because I was wearing my Toronto shirt... completely nuts
Great if you can find one that is actually running. But The service times are only during rush hour and no one is around to answer questions. Seems silly to have a transit system that only runs twice per day. Busses were scarce as well. Might as well take a lyft or Uber (which is what I was forced to do).
Tourists from Calgary , Mis-informed by the #2 bus driver at the hamilton airport about being able to take the "go" bus from the main station in Hamilton . This caused us to be late at the Nash go bus stop missing our bus , causing us to be 2 hours late at the Sheraton conference centre in Niagara falls.
Arrived in this station via the bus, did my visit in Hamilton, came into the bus terminal to head home and all the washrooms were locked and the go trains did not run from there to union station on the weekends. It’s disgusting that GO a big company would lock there customers out of using the washrooms.
Hamilton GO center is very accessible via the Hamilton bussing services. Attendants have always been helpful. Busses are on time and depart at their posted times. Would have given 5 stars if they had some display screens outside too for busses and at least one presto card fund refilling machine.
Shame on Go transit to remove the express bus to Toronto. More and more cars, and fewer transit options, while the exact opposite is happening. What is the point of signing paris agreement, devlare state of emergency and do absolutrly nothing to keep the few transit options that we have. Boooo!
Tonight on Feb 17 passengers were waiting for 2 hours for Go bus 40 at Pearson Int’l Airport bus stop for Hamilton. What’s going on Go Bus this is ridiculous for Place at Pearson where int’l passengers arrive waiting for hours to catch a bus for Hamilton. Plz no excuses for weather or Covid.
Absolutely beautiful station. I visited solely for the architecture. Unfortunately this station does not get as much rail service due to the freight railways, however there are many buses with connections. If you want rail service to Toronto it may be better to head to West Harbour GO.
After reading the comments, I realized that the attitude I get from the ticket attendants is just a regular thing. I try not to spend much time here..just load my presto and get on the bus. It does suck that the Go train service barely comes all the way Hamilton, but whatever.
Visiting from another province. No one to help me with luggage!! No carts!! Asked an employee about via trains and he said the office was closed. Asked about a GO bus, he told me where to go. No offer i)of help and was abrupt and rude!! Will NEVER go back to Hamilton!!
I love Hamilton go station. The tellers, the bus drivers and the staff are really polite, and don't mind helping out. There is alot of room inside to sit, as well as a convenient store, coffee shop & restaurant. Kinda reminds me of a little union Station in Toronto.
apparently they think it's totally acceptable to have people standing outside in 32 degree weather waiting the whole time for a bus that's OVER 35 MINUTES LATE... without updating anyone... cus screw your customers with disabilities right ?!?!
Hamilton Go Train Station falls short of expectations. Buses are often late, the one-way roads around the station are a hassle, and the waiting area can be uncomfortable sometimes. Staff friendliness varies. Overall, it's a mediocre station.
Great place to sit and wait for your bus whether you're looking to head out of the city on a go bus or take a city bus they have everything. Feeling hungry check in side. Need to fill your Presto pass look no further then the go station.
Good location with lots of connections to hamilton’s local transit GO’s regional transit. The maps are informative and it’s easy enough to navigate the space. Limited train service, though. Sitting and standing areas are nice too.
At least it is clean and there aren't any drug user's sleeping inside. I wish that there was a machine to buy a bus ticket from... seeing as I got there after their 4:30 quitting time. Not great but not terrible.
Lots of space and lots of seating. There is a little kiosk for snacks and magazines, and a cafe for sit down food. GO staff are polite if not particularly friendly. Unfortunately the washrooms are pretty gross.
The staff was very friendly and willing to help answer questions for someone who has never been on the GO bus before. The location could have been cleaner and the bathroom was in need of some maintenance.
The little dinner on there is the worst place IV ever been to. The eggs were still raw. I would never recommend any one to go there. Other then that the station is great and the staff are accommodating
Bus was 40 minutes late, and 5 'out of service' busses passed us while we waited. If there was such a delay, the least those busses could have done is stop and inform us to look for another route.
Jessica Revels is AWFUL, for someone who is suppose to be empathetic, she has no compassion, is judgmental and rude! Don't waste your time or money. You will leave her office crying!
3 stars only because the washrooms never seem to be open , I find it ridiculous that after a long ride any time after or before at least 7 am or pm the restrooms are closed
Sharon at the Hamilton go station is an absolute gem, the kinda ppl they (go) should be hiring more of, totally helpful and got me in the right direction home ❤️ …
This station closes at8 p.m. even though buses coming in until midnight or later. Why are washrooms closed during day for "cleaning" when station closes early in evening
This station is the main stop in Hamilton for GO Transit, GO Train and has in station stops for HSR buses (local bus). You can also call for a taxi that stops in front.
I like it. Convenient location. Plus its greyhound terminal even tho they closing end of month ...edit not closing but ending service to Northern Ontario & out West.
This is another of Hamilton's great old architecture. The inside of the Go Center has lots of old character. A must see if you like old architecture in Hamilton.
Being my first time visit, the place looks decent, less populated for which I felt in love with for possible relocation compared to Toronto that I reside now
I enjoy shopping downtown but I wish it was more affordable to live there before people who used to mock the city inflated the rent and real estate markets.
Very helpful and precise information. Thank you to the lady with the long blonde hair. Getting to Union Station was much easier with the info we were given.
People smoking at the waiting area, toilets not functional. The in-door area does not seem air-conditioned, though its decorations are old and nostalgic.
Easy to buy tickets. Bus is clean and spacious. Drivers are helpful. I travelled with my family. I had luggage and double stroller with me.
Unfriendly and rude customer service. I waited like 1.5hrs for a bus because given me wrong directions towards the wrong platform and zone.
This is the best station between the two GO stations in Hamilton. Excellent, ideal location. Easy to use and all the buses go here.
Incredible example of art deco design and architecture. Like walking into 1930. Staff and service at the Go is always excellent.
The Centre is a bit tired, but not too bad. Friendly staff, directional guidance signage could be a bit clearer.
Bathrooms are no longer available to the public. The closest is Tim Hortons, which was awful …
There are go buses after 9pm, but the station closes around 8:30. Can’t even find a washroom afterwards.
The staff is very attentive, kind and helpful to the customer. Thank you very much to all of them.
The GO Transit counter attendants were very helpful and friendly. . . Knowledgeable too : )
Its ok excepto the bathrooms are always cl9def for deep ckean8ng. (Thanks addicts)
Great place to wait for a bus to take you to the airport and to travel to Toronto
Was ok, no cashiers available.. but you can buy tickets online.. save time
Why would they love the popular bus route 16 to the end of the station...
Nice environment. Clean. Easy to get information and use the washrooms
lots of people smoking cigarettes and weed in no smoking areas.
No problem to wait for bus any time if year!!
Poor management. Locked washroom for what?
Hard to find a pick up / drop off area...
Open, but still not fully operational.
It's clean and the staff are pleasant
Not too busy...very vintage
Very good location for me.
