I imagine for a restaurant like this my review will not make much of a difference. I called Hanen's to order a cake, and the woman on the other line was incredibly rude. I told her that I wanted a lemon-rasberry cake. She then asked me how I would like it configured. I asked for clarification about the specifications she proposed, and she instantly became angry. Her tone became aggressive and impatient. She began to talk down to me. I really wanted to say forget it and hang up. However, I remembered this cake is for my mother's birthday. This is what my mother asked for by name. So, I endured her berating. She then asked for my payment. Okay fine. I gave her my credit card number and part of the associated information, then without telling me what she is doing she puts me on a 5 minute hold. She then comes back on the line with frustration in her voice, and she snaps about how she ran the card 4 times and it doesn't work. So, I asked her to repeat the card number to me. It's correct. I know the card works because I'm looking at my bank account at that very moment. She then repeats the expiration date to me. It's wrong. Literally. Had this woman been less snippy, more communicative, and patient. She would have asked me to repeat my expiration date before she put me on an unexplained hold and tried running the card. Then she would have saved herself 4 minutes. Look, I get that celebrities eat at this restaurant. IDGAF. I've always thought their cakes were overpriced. I really don't need the disrespect to go with it. I like publix just fine.

Simply the best. It was soon to be my sister's 16th birthday. Due to a loss in the family we couldn't really have a party but mom still wanted to do something special. Hansen's! We met with an associate & explained our situation. We wanted something pink, special for a young girl & left the decorating to them. She guided us through the ordering process (so many wonderful flavors & combinations). We received an itemized receipt, cost up front, no hidden fees or surprises. Cake was ready on time and perfectly boxed. When sister got home from school there it was - a huge, beautiful, delicate pink cake - like something from the movies - about 18in across and almost 10n high. It was so pretty. She was so happy. Best of all the cake was delicious!!! None of that artificial sugary stuff. A true bakery, true artists, and great staff.

This bakery is supposed to be known for how amazing their cakes are. Celebrities constantly purchase cakes from this place. I'm not sure why my order would be handled any differently than other customers, but the cake I received for my birthday in January was the worst cake I've ever received in my life. It looked like a child made it. It did not look in any way like the photo references I gave this company when putting my order in. An over priced Gluten free cake for 10 people only lasted 1 day. It was a hard a a stone in under 24 hours. I would never recommend this bakery to anybody. Extremely disappointed with my purchase. I would give them negative points if it were possible.

The cupcakes look pretty, but all they are is Instagram worthy. They don't have quite a variety as the display leads you to believe. They only really have 3 types of cupcakes: white, chocolate, and carrot (red velvet too, but that's basically chocolate). All the "variety" is just the frosting on top. The white and chocolate are whatever. They are kinda dry, don't have that flavor. I can get a better tasting cupcake from the Vons bakery. The frosting is really hard. Good frosting should be airy and fluffy. Trying to bite into the cupcake was weird because of how hard the frosting is. I tried 2 of the 4. The carrot cake leaves a lot to be desired. Overall, I wouldn't return .

Me and my family have been getting cakes here for generations but Whoever Wendy is that works at Hansen’s that answers the phone to take orders at the fairfax location is very rude and lacks basic customer service skills. Not only did she have an attitude and tried to rush me through my order she hung up on me after I politely asked to speak to someone else. She Clearly needs a reality check, everyone has things going on in there lives but basic customer service skills means leave it at the door come to work to work not be a b****. although I received an apology from management it’s clear this will go unchecked I do not recommend.

I frequent Hansen's for their cupcakes and cakes but this last time, I tried to buy a cupcake, the man behind the counter charged me an extra dollar for using my credit card, didn't tell me, and had no signs posted anywhere around the shop about a credit card fee. I only noticed that he charged me because I saw him type it in. It wasn't mentioned on the screen and I did not sign anything. I left without purchasing the cupcake yet still got charged. Not only is it illegal to charge a credit card fee of $1 on a $1.50 purchase, he also charged my card without my authorization.

So I like their cupcakes and that was the first time I went here. I know it is a popular bakery in LA even among celebrities. Unfortunately when we had considered them for a wedding cake we were not impressed by the offerings, the quality of the cake or their customer service. It was also hard to get a hold of anyone and ask questions. It seemed like no one was really interested in our business or helping us. The cake we sampled was dry and not something I would serve at a wedding. I would still stop by for a cupcake or two but this wouldn't be my pick for an event.

We hired Hansen’s Cakes to provide carrot cake cupcakes for our mother-in-law’s 100th birthday party. Hansen’s has many options to suit your preferences. Guests thought the cupcakes were delicious and just the right size to have after a feast of a meal. Working with Hansen’s Cakes took some patience on my part. If you get put on hold after calling them, do not hang up! They will get to your call and be very professional about taking your order. We were especially pleased with Hansen’s because they delivered to our party venue on time on a Sunday afternoon.

I have been going to Hansen's since I was a little boy. Most of my bday cakes came from here. Their cupcakes are so good. So unlike anywhere else. They are always fresh (same day fresh) and taste is perfect. My favorite is simply white on white or dolly madison which is like a ding dong. There is no way these cupcakes should be any cheaper than 10.00 each because they are the best. Super soft, super fresh, the frosting just melts in your mouth. So great. The cake and cupcakes are amazing. Get your wedding cake here!

After ten years of dedicated searching, I can knowledgeably say the cake and cupcakes here are the best in LA. The price:quality ratio is also the highest. Once known for the $1 cupcakes - which are now $1.50 - these are easily the most affordable in LA. A 6" round cake is only $24 and you can either order ahead or select what in display - they always have options for those who didn't order. Cake by the slice is also available. Flavor selection is incredible with all the basics plus a lot of incredible twists.

Patrick Hansen, who owns this establishment, is the reason why we should all support small businesses. Not only is he the sweetest soul, but his staff: a group of incredibly hardworking employees, are remarkable in their kindness & efficiency. And so talented!!! Like the perfect organism, Hansen’s cakes runs like clockwork. I ordered an Election Day cake & they stepped up to the task beautifully!!!! Thank you guys for making me and my entire family very happy. You guys are THE greatest!

The service was outstanding. I was helped immediately despite it being busy and they answered al my questions and had the cake ready within minutes. But I’m sad to say that the cake is just not that good. It’s dry. And the center filling/icing tasted like just plain sugary icing - like grocery store icing. We ate it the day after we bought it. This is the second time we get a cake here and both times it was dry and not good. This picture shows a white cake with chocolate filling.

Extremely rude young woman working at 4pm on Sat Dec 3, 2022. Got snippy at me for ripping the receipt off their hand held machine when they weren't attending to it. I won't be back. You better train your staff in customer service if you want to maintain a reputation as a friendly neighborhood place. Same issue others have mentioned about a $1 fee for cc purchase under $6. Seems excessive for a place where plenty of people want to come in and get one or two cupcakes.

My favorite go to for my cakes. I've been going there almost 20 years. And Mr.Hansen is such a delightful gentleman. He, himself carried my order to my car for me without asking for assistance;. He just stopped what he was doing , took the box and asked where had I parked. The raspberry frosting is also delisioso!!!!! Love everything they make. Kudos to everyone . Still the best. And the lemon/raspberry cupcakes are devine.

What a cake!!! Had a challenge for the Hansen's team.... a half sheet cake for Father's Day... sounds easy right? Well we hosted our family and wanted to have all of the Dads mentioned on the cake.... 18 Dads to be specific. Hansens came through in a huge way! Take a look... it was done with so much care and made all 18 of the Dads so happy. Thank you to the whole team at Hansens! Oh... and the cake was so delicious too!

Today I came in for gluten free and regular cupcakes. The gentleman who served me was attentive and helpful, and I believe he may be the owner. I asked my tiny tarot cards about the vibe of the bakery and the queen of pentacles jumped out. It made sense, because the way that he handed me the bag was like it contained priceless treasure. Considering I got my Halloween themed wedding cake here, I wouldn't disagree.

My daughter bought my favorite cake which is red velvet. She was looking forward to giving me that cake for my birthday. She read all of the reviews and she did think that it was the right place to come. Unfortunately, the cake was very very dry, extremely sweet and with no flavor in the cake at all. The decorations were nice but sadly the guests didn't enjoy it. So most of the cake was thrown away.

I was feeling sad, until I went to Hansen’s on Fairfax. They have the most beautiful and delicious cupcakes I’ve ever seen. I also bought a small cake which they decorated for me as I waited. Also and most important to me, great Customer service. Thank you Hansen’s staff for making me feel better.
