Vegetarians, Vegans, Spanish and black friends please stay away from this place, you are clearly not welcomed here!!! I arrived with my brother on Easter Sunday, the place was empty. We are black Spanish., There were three white males including the owner hanging out in the restaurant. We ordered drinks and were eying the menu for appetizers. I took notice there were no vegan options, so I asked the bartered and the owner what they suggested for me since I’m vegan. The owner, who was accompanied by a female friend, abruptly replied; “This is a burger place we don’t have a vegan option here”. He seemed upset I even asked about any alternatives to meat. They started to laugh and make jokes among themselves. They were clearly bothered by my question to the point that made me think the question wasn’t what bothered them in the first place but perhaps the color of my skin. At that point it was clear to me we weren’t welcomed there. Any other place would have offered an option to accommodate any costumer, the owner’s demeanor was clearly defensive and very nasty. He clearly doesn’t want or welcome people of color. Take your business elsewhere, there are plenty of great burgers places in the Rockaways!

Most of our dining out is done with our 6 year old girls. Unfortunately, Happy Jack's didn't cater to kids at all. There's no kids menu, no juice or milk for them to drink except what they have at the bar (orange and cranberry juice). The food was good. The Dublin egg rolls, we're very good, and a very good burger. A beer was 4 bucks, so that's a good price and my mixed drink was 8 bucks. I might go back there with my husband or with friends, but I won't go back there with my girls. It's pretty rare nowadays too find a casual restaurant that doesn't cater to kids at all. I was disappointed by that.

Another enjoyable experience at Happy Jacks. You're always greeted at the door and given personable service. I knew exactly what I was getting. The chicken avacado toast. Then I noticed the menu change. Oh well, never fear, plenty of new options. I ordered the fish and chips but substituted a little healthy salad for chips. I'll remember to ask for dressing next time. Instead of small pieces the fish is big and beautifully coated and fried. The salad with chicken is a nice portion now and the chicken on a pretzel bun had nice flavor. I'm just not a fan of pretzel buns.

What an amazing place in Rockaway Beach! I am so happy this is a little local spot that my wife I will now become regulars! We went for the first time today(2/13/21) and the wait staff was amazing my guy knew exactly when to come up to me and ask if everything was okay. The bar tender and chef were on point they kept the drinks flowing and food coming! Thank you for the great service and please keep up the good work and thank the waitstaff again for keeping everything running smoothly. Delicious food and generous mimosas. Very clean space!

I revisted after several years and was pleased. The food was very good and priced fair The servers were excellent. The pizza was really good! The Burger was excellent as well. Fish Taco was good and I thankful for not frying the fish. The coffee was freshly roasted. This place is a gem.

This is such a great little hidden place. The atmosphere is super cozy and intimate little burger spot. The food is pretty delicious. I LOVE the chicken sliders they really hit the spot. The Happy Jack burger is also great too. They also have a bar with a good selection and are located only one block from the beach and ferry.

This was a completely unexpected gem... My wife and I came in because they had potato soup. She thought it was just ok. I opted to grab one of the specials on the menu: the lasagna. Lemme tell ya... this lasagna was SPECIAL. Probably in the top 10 of things I've ever eaten. With an appetizer and tip we spent about $50. The portions are great. The vibe was nice and quiet. Just a great experience.

The burgers were cooked fine, but everything lacked flavor. This was my second time at HJ. I was hoping that my first visit was just on an off day, but it wasn't. They clearly do not know how to season their food and the fries are some of the worst I've ever had.

Wow! We had such a great time here. The atmosphere was fun, the food was wonderful, the service was perfect, everyone was as nice as possible. We are already talking about when to go back for more. Burgers are the main thing, but there is actually quite a variety to choose from. Frequent specials in the seafood genre as well. We had shrimp and clams both as appetizers. Burgers were PERFECT.

Nice little Summer place in Rockaway. I was there yesterday with my girlfriend and the pizza was very good. Drinks were good too. I would have had another drink but I ran out of cash. Unfortunately my bank was not near by. Staff was very nice too. I will be back for sure.

We just found this place last week, and have plans to order again and invite friends over to enjoy as well. Great burgers, great sides, and fairly priced as well for the quality. Definitely a worthy neighborhood eatery that should not be missed.

We flooded this bar during a rain storm today. some of the patrons sitting the bar were grumpy towards us. However- The staff and service were incredible. Thank you for taking us in and serving us delicious drinks and possibly the best nachos we’ve ever had.

The burgers are quite an experience. There so juicy with quality meat. The fixings are fresh. (Lettuce, tomato onion). The bacon was so thick. It could be served as an appetizer by itself! The pizza has that old school flavor. The crust is slightly burnt giving it that charcoal taste. Yum!

You will always leave Happy Jack's happy unless ‍♀️ you can't get a table. That's a bummer

Found this place online ordered and in almost no time they were ringing the bell. Had the empanadas and French dip. Both orders were sizeable and delicious. Plan to order again and visit the restaurant. Almost nothing beats great food and that is what this place is all about.

I want to thank Mike for the great brunch he made for an after wedding breakfast.The food was great , a true Irish breakfast Mike and his staff where welcoming and the atmosphere was warm and friendly.Thank you all for a wonderful finish to a great wedding weekend .

Small restaurant serving fresh seafood, sandwiches and burgers (turkey, signature beef, black bean). Full bar with seating, but not for big parties. Parking can be tight on weekends, but down the block from the ferry on way to the beach.

I had a happy Jack's build your burger and it was good. The fries came with the burger and it was also good. The customer service was very pleasant. I gave 4 stars because it was too pricey. $16.00 for a burger and fries with no drinks.

This place is conveniently located next to the ferry and train, and service is fast. The food is just alright and the bartenders are all questionably young.. but it's still one of the better spots in the area.

Prices are amazing here, food is exactly what you would expect. Not the GREATEST most earth shattering culinary experience but the atmosphere and staff were all nice. Great place for a drink and hang out.

Hands down best restaurant in Rockaway. Everything is so damn good , and for the price you get so much food in comparison to most restaurants around the area. Totally recommend. Get their loaded nachos!!
