We will soon be starting an official complaint to the Veterinary Practitioners Board. This is a continuation of W Y's negative review, but below is my personal experience. Videos will be attached in the following post. To start, you informally requested me over the phone to persuade my partner to remove her Google Review, because "it's hurts my business and it's unfair, we've done our due diligence and you consented to the steps", in hopes for you to smooth things over. If you have the gall to try censor our experience but refute her review by broadcasting our cat's case to the public, I don't mind sharing with them your attempt to take down our review. Our cat was brought in two weeks of not feeling well. It showed signs of jaundice and lost its appetite. However, it did try to eat and drink. It was still strong enough to jump on high surfaces, move around fast and was verbally responsive. I see your rebuttal to my partners' review was "On initial visit, she was severely jaundiced and lethargic". Look at the video of her, taken on the 22/11/2023 - day she was admitted. Does that look like a severely lethargic cat to you? I see you have also outlined, in writing to my partners' review, specific conditions our cat was suffering from Why did you not provide the same summary in writing to me during our cat's treatment, so we could decode and understand this ourselves in our own time? We admitted it to this clinic on the 22nd of November to address her weight loss and jaundice. My initial experience dealing with the first vet was negative. She did keep me updated via daily phone calls. But the manner in which she explained things were incoherent and a lot of "it could be this, it could be that... if its that, then it could be this...". I felt like her explanations went off on a tangent, which confused me. Because of that, I felt overwhelmed. At the time of writing this, I still cannot recall what she said over the phone - except for "Would you like to go with an ultrasound? It will cost [price]". I cannot recall if she mentioned potential risks involved with blood tests and an ultrasound. I visited on the 24th and felt like I did not recognise my cat. Dilated pupils, unable to close her eyes, swaying, loss of balance, unable to stand, hyperventilating. How did her condition exacerbate to this in just three days? I asked the nurse why she was like this, and her response was "I'm not sure... was your cat like this when you brought her in?". I said "No". She left then returned to clarify that that my cat was on painkillers. Right there, my confidence in this clinic plummeted because it showed communication among its staff is low. Positives from this experience: - Ben went over the specialists' report with me, word for word, and explained risks involved with next steps of treatment. - He did work on a weekend and tended to our cat. He regularly showed interest and empathy in our cat's well being. - Ben showed us how to feed and medicate our cat via the IV tube Two days after treating her at home at our request, she reached a point of no return. She was in the same condition when I visited her. Lethargic, jaundice, eyes haven't closed, hyperventilating. We had to euthanise her at a different clinic - one that we'll be returning to. We're left with unanswered questions, which is the crux of this negative review. What pushed our cat's health to plummet like this in just three days under your care? What pushed her to the edge to be severely lethargic? We aren't satisfied with the beat-around-the-bush answers "It could be liver problems, she could've been too far gone... once the liver is gone, it's gone".
Our appointment was booked for 9:40 AM. We arrived on time, but there was no one at the receptionist desk. We politely said "hello" a few times in an attempt to get someone to help us check in. We could hear staff talking and laughing in the room. After waiting for almost 20 minutes, a receptionist finally came out. The receptionist we encountered was very rude and cold, showing no empathy. It seems like she didn’t notice there is appt booked during this time. She didn't apologize for the wait, and abruptly left forms on the table for us to fill in. If you are standing in front of us, you can actual hand the form to us. It’s not difficult thing to do. She already been informed that we are new clients, we made multiple attempts to ask few basic questions such as the consultation fee and how much longer we probably still would have to wait, but those questions you should provide to us rather than we have to keep asking. She just impatiently answer the question in few words to us. She seems only focus on obtaining our personal information, neglecting the need for proper communication and empathy towards my pet’s wellbeing. After waiting for nearly 30 minutes and dealing with the unwelcoming receptionist, we have decided to change our minds and cancel this appointment. It’s unfortunate that we couldn’t see the doctor today. We understand that doctors can run late due to unexpected circumstances, and we are willing to wait as long as the staff shows basic respect and care for our pet.
My recent experience at this clinic has left me profoundly disheartened. Shortly after adopting our 9 week old toy cavoodle and seeking guidance on acclimating him to his new surroundings, one of the vets recommended an anti-nausea shot and a diet of cooked chicken breast. Sadly, less than 24 hours later, our beloved pup passed away. Despite rushing him to the vet after he stopped breathing at home, the attending vet was unable to determine the cause of death, repeatedly expressing uncertainty. This disappointment is heightened by conflicting assessments from different vets within the same clinic. A prior consultation less than 24 hours earlier assured us that our pet was in good health, attributing his symptoms to normal behavior. I am inclined to believe that the administered shot was a lapse in judgment and may have contributed to the passing of our pet. What made matters worse is after inquiring about charges upon leaving, the receptionist initially stated "no charge for today," only for us to receive a call a few hours later indicating an outstanding balance. While I understand the commercial aspect of veterinary services, the lack of empathy during our departure left us in a state of emotional distress. A more compassionate approach on that difficult day would have been appreciated.
During a recent visit to this veterinary clinic for a quick check-up for my dog's skin allergies, I encountered a rude receptionist who was unhelpful and lacked any sense of empathy. Despite explaining my concerns, I was abruptly informed that the clinic was fully booked and was not asked about my dog's well-being. Disappointed by the poor customer service, I decided to take my dog to a vet in Rhodes instead. To my relief, the team there was welcoming and attentive to my dog's needs. My dog was treated on the same day and has since fully recovered. I cannot recommend this clinic due to the lack of empathy and care shown to new customers.
My neighbour and I rescued a pregnant Mumma Cat and her 4 kittens this time last year. With the help of Cat Protection Society we managed to socialise and find homes for all 9 cats (including the one who decided he was home, and wasn't taking no for an answer). Ben and Polly were extremely supportive and helpful with information, moral support and really helped us out with some multi-cat vax discounts and other things. They're also really professional and kind people. Ben always makes time to come over and see my 16 year old girl as she hates going to the vet. I couldn't recommend this clinic more.
Our experience with Harbourside Vet was a pleasant one. Our dog Max underwent day surgery and we were updated throughout the day on his progress. Upon picking him up, we were given a detailed breakdown and review of how the procedure went. The vet and staff have a compassionate approach to the animals in their care. Also to note, despite being technically more proficient, they were slightly cheaper than the local alternatives. I will be recommending to my family and friends.
Our now three years old Staffy had developed a limp on her back left leg and was suffering so bad that she could not put her leg on the floor. Dr Ben Ajilian performed an amazing operation on her leg and she now runs like a deer. Thank you very much Dr Ben Ajilian. We are sincerely grateful to your kind and professional care for animals. We as well appreciate Harbourside staff and your assistants who are always helpful and attentive.
Friendly staff that are very professional and caring for your pets! My 2yo cavoodle went in for a general check up, which they thoroughly went through the whole process and explained to me every aspect of the examination. They also assisted with my queries. Will continue coming here for my pet needs!
Inexperienced and incompetent clinic. Cat came in for liver issued, said they can't perform test without pumping her full of drugs. She came home 10x worst then she went in, bleeding from the arms from where iv were inserted. Never go here unless you want to waste thousand of dollars.
Very thankful for Dr James Le! He did an amazing job at examinating Bambi and Cookie! Spent a good 45 mins to go through everything with us, not just a quick jab and go kinda appointment! Will definitely bring our kids back to see James for routine check up! Highly recommend James!
Pleased to have this as our local vet. We have chooks, quail, two dogs and a few cats. So, we are in and out of here more than most. Polite knowledgeable staff that are happy to help and genuinely care about their patients health and outcomes.
Great place for your fur babies. Vets are so friendly and understanding and explain everything with so much detail and patience. Highly recommended. Also the prices are quite reasonable.
Ben and the whole team are amazing! He has operated on our boy a couple of times now and they were amazing every step of the way! Thanks Ben and the team for looking after our boy!
A huge thank you to Jamie today for her great service looking after my Bengal cat, Chambertin. A big tank you to James the vet and Tara the office manageress.
Top, friendly and caring local service from Ben and the team. Lucky to have our pets looked after Harbourside Vets for many years. Many thanks!
They always take great care of my dear cat and always remember her name when we come in. Absolutely my favourite vet in Sydney.
Friendly and professional service. My dog favourite vet is Dr Ben who always gives him a lot of treats
Dr Ben is a very caring professional. He’s been taking care of my dog for years now. Great staff too.
