i hope that this flock finds way. I have reached out to John, the church's lead minister. He seems to understand faith but his flock live in fear. so much so another fledgling minister tried to intervene on my health care plan. in my life i have had my share of trauma and know my time as all is definite. she does not understand davids faith in the walk through valley. I will forgive but wont encourage leading others in fear. be wolf not sheep when it comes to your honest reflection. "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Psalm 23:4 Peace

This church is a place to call home... no matter your background, your religious (or non-religious) history, or your current or past life circumstances, it is always a comforting and rejuvenating place to be. I have been coming to this church since 2012. I enjoy a hot tea during service, I bring my kids here for the awesome kids/teens programming, and we were married here in 2013. If you're looking for a place to connect to God, or just to a beautiful community, Hillhurst United Church is a great place to be.

AMAZING! Everyone at the church is super welcoming and friendly. This church is super inclusive, recognizes indigenous land and is super LGBTQ2+ friendly with an affirming ministry. Coffee tea and snacks are served at the back during service. You can drink coffee during church! My mind is blown. They refer to god as "She" sometimes. Super cool and very open to different ideas and expressions of spirituality while still staying true to a Christian context. Worth checking out just to see what it's about!/

I was visiting Calgary from Halifax, Nova Scotia and my minister from the Bethany United Church recommended Hillhurst. I went with a friend and really loved the church. Very welcoming congregational members, a beautiful church , and great services. I was especially happy to see the rainbow permanently incorporated into the church. This is one of the things that makes me the most proud of in the United Church in general. If you are shy, just drop in, and you will meet very friendly people.

I'm not personally religious, but that doesn't matter at Hillhurst. I have never found a more inclusive and loving environment. My fiance adores this church and it has shaped how she approaches life in her day to day routines. We will be getting married there this upcoming summer, and I am sure it will be wonderful.

This church allowed you to get up during service and pour yourself a coffee/tea/water at any point! With lunch after put on by volunteers and the community joined even if they didn't attend. :) If this place isn't Holy, I don't know what is!

Very welcoming congregation. Literally anyone is welcome! Gay, transgender and people from any background are attending on a regular basis. Love going here to sit and think about life. Plus free coffee and tea during the service ;)

Love it here. Good for progressive Christians, or non-christians that want a safe space for spirituality. Lots of different people in the congregation. Always room to grow so why not stop by and contribute your perspective?

We picked this church to get married in we live in the area would like to support the community.. I'm so happy.. the minister is awesome the organ sounds great... It feels like a small town Church join us

Extremely welcoming and comfortable for everyone. Great church for people who want a social activity of a Sunday, they provide free lunch and most people stay and a really friendly and willing to talk

Saw a concert here (Ellen Doty) and it was amazing. The building was built in 1908 and it's really beautiful inside. The volunteers from the church seemed really welcoming and nice. Very inclusive.

I like the church and community, but today was too much politics... I think prist might need some dive in and study of the issue before drug any conclusions and blaim govern political party.

Hillhurst United Church. A place to feel welcomed and that you belong. The banner on the outside says it all, "Whoever you are. Wherever you're at. Join us on the journey".

Didnt feel welcome . Place for the rich and clicks. Also it has rainbow flags all over it and trans groups.... Not a Christian church its a worldy church.

Looking forward to seeing how the renovations will continue to enhance the experience when attending functions at the church.
