It has been said that “the Liturgy is Orthodoxy’s front door”. For those in Melbourne, Holy Ascension Mission is the door leading to the hidden treasure that is the Orthodox faith. With all services conducted in English, the Orthodox faith has been made accessible to all people of all ages and this is witnessed in the God-loving, ethnically diverse and culturally rich parish that has formed at Holy Ascension. Truly the call to ‘go into the world and make disciples of all nations’ is fulfilled in this humble parish. The welcoming and loving environment is set by its parish priest Fr Kyril. He is a wonderfully accommodating, generous and faithful servant of the Lord. For those seeking to experience the spiritual life in its fullest, this parish offers the experience of the liturgy (and its many other services) as well as opportunities for catechetical development. If for no other reason, I’d encourage people to visit Holy Ascension and get to know Fr Kyril who will make the journey into Orthodoxy a joyous one.

Holy Ascension is a place of faith, integrity, humility and reverence. The services are a rich mix of ancient sounds, smells and imagery. Yet the words and direction of the services are more urgent and relevant than ever. In a time of fragmentation and uncertainty you can step into a sanctuary of timeless wisdom, just leave your ego at the door. I came from an Anglican background in search of a strong faith that believes in itself - it lives here.

It was a memorable visit to this mission church. The service was entirely in English. Beautiful liturgy, warm welcome from the parishioners. We also stayed for fellowship, and listened to an excellent talk by Fr Kyril for the catechumens. We learned a lot!

Wonderful, welcoming, open hearted and community minded church ideal for those like myself who were curious about Orthodoxy. Fr Kyril is patient, knowledgeable, welcoming and jovial. Services are in English.
