The 3 Day Garden Tour & Safari My wife and I selected this tour because it was a scheduled tour that was priced reasonably well compared to a private 3-day tour. Good selection, as it ended up being one of the most enjoyable guided tours we have taken, thanks in no small measure to our driver and guide for all 3 days – Mr Ulrich (the Gentle Giant). His friendly nature and determination to show us the best he could along the way over all 3-days was key to a very fun tour. I must mention that the stops for the tour appeared to be very well planned, including the routes for the drive. We made a few photo stops along the way, for taking in the beautiful scenery and Ulrich was happy to provide us with a wealth of information on the area, the flora and fauna that we passed as we drove along. This kept the journey interesting throughout and never once did we feel bored on the otherwise long drives. The Cango Caves is an interesting stop. You should definitely try to fit in the short documentary in their in-house viewing theatre before you take the tour, to appreciate the sheer scale of the caves and also exploratory work that’s still going on. Of course, for those not on the adventure tour of the caves, the walk through the caverns is interesting but limited. We had chosen the Deluxe option for our 2 nights stay, which found us staying the night at the Buffelsdrift Game Lodge at Oudtshoorn. This was in a luxury tented accommodation – both beautiful and fascinating to say the least and right in front of the watering hole with its resident Hippos. From the restaurant where we had breakfast the following morning, we saw Springbok and Nyala besides a host of birds. Thanks to the Hotspot2c itinerary planners for planning a stop at such an interesting location. Don’t miss the opportunity to do the walk with the 3 orphaned elephants that are being cared for at Buffelsdrift. This experience includes direct interaction with the elephants under the watchful eyes of their handlers and includes feeding them. Its an additional cost which also goes some way towards supporting other orphaned animals – and it’s an experience of a lifetime. There is a short kayaking stop at Kaaimans, which we found to be a very scenic location. Our stay at Sedgefield was at Ichtus B&B, with a room right in front of and facing the Indian Ocean – it was beautiful and also very serene. The lady hosting us at the B&B was most hospitable and our stay was a very pleasant one. Finally, the Safari at the Botlierskop Private Game Reserve was the highlight of the last day of the 3-day tour. The local guide got us to see us a host of animals at very close quarters – this included the Rhino, Buffalo, Giraffe, Lion & Lioness and Elephants. It is worth nothing that we were in an open vehicle and very, very close to all, in particular the lions! A truly unforgettable experience! The drive back to Cape Town was relaxed and picturesque while the sun was still up, with Ulrich filling us in on all the details. It always helps to have a tour guide who enjoys his work and is keen to ensure his guests have a great time! There was never a dull moment for sure! All in all, a fantastic 3 days, absolutely well worth the spend.

This two-day safari trip was great! I had a pickup from Stellenbosch, and had a nice introduction to the rest of the group by our guide TK. Het took the time to get to know each member of the group and checking for their preferences (we were a group of four solo travelers) It was a long road to botlierskoppark, but our guide understood the balance between silence and giving some explanation on the surroundings. The 6h travel was ideally divided in blocks of 2h with nice rest stops. At arrival in botlierspark our lunch was ready to serve, which we pre-ordered in the minivan thanks to TK's organization skills. Our 4x4 safari started immediately after lunch, guided by wildlife ranger James, we were lucky that we didn't had to share the vehicle with other groups. This private setting gave James the opportunity to do whatever we wanted, which was great! Thanks to James eagle eyes, we managed to see four out big-Five. James could see a lion or a baby rhino from kilometers away! Although the drive was rough, as expected on a safari, I really enjoyed. We didn't had a specific bush walk, James wanted to emphasize on seeing as much as animals as possible, but he allowed us to go out the jeep and pose for pictures with giraffes or rhino's! After this magnificent experience, we had a drive to our hostel in Oudtshoorn, were we enjoyed the Ostrich BBQ prepared by Mario the owner of the Uthando Hostel. Although we were exhausted of the day, we had a late night next to the camp fire and the unique atmosphere a hostel can bring. The following day we left after a nice breakfast towards buffelsdrift game resort. We opted in on the walk with the orphans elephant which was an amazing experience, we had close contacts with the animals and were informed well about their background and living conditions. They are used to human contact and show different behavior then wild animals, but are for sure not used as a circus act. A final activity was a bush ride throughout buffelsdrift park, and especially compared to the day before this was not that special. The names describes it well, a gentle ride through the park, while encountering some boks or girafs... It was a very family proof activity. Ofcourse we needed to head back to Stellenbosch/Cape Town, another 6h drive over the very scenic route 62. Our guide TK adjusted the paste again to the suggestions of the group, with a nice lunch break and if needed some bathroom stops. In summary, I think the long drive is worth the effort. Of course depending on the animals and even the wildlife ranger, the botlierskop park is a nice safari for those who want to catch a glimpse of the game in South Africa.

On the whole, this was a nice tour, we saw lots of animals on the game drives in Addo, and the different landscapes along the Garden Route are stunning, of course. It is important to know that about 80% of Hotspots2C´s customers are Germans, according to our tour guide (and true for this particular trip, too), which was communicated differently before by the company. In fact there was hardly any communication with Hotspots, we made the booking via the Internet, paid and only received an email confirmation. When I therefore called Hotspot I was told they would let us know two days before the trip at what time we would be picked up, no more communication was intended, it turned ot that none of the information I provided on the phone, e.g. about my walking handicap, was communicated to the guide or the hotels, although the lady on the phone promised to do so. We had booked the medium accommodation version (three stars); the hotels and guesthouses were okay, apart from Sea Whisper in Jeffrey´s Bay which is very far away from the beach, is in urgent need of modernisation and renovation (e.g. the wooden doors were difficult to handle), and our room did not even have a view. The restaurant recommendations were "okayish", but most of them had an extremely limited choice of vegetarian dishes, the food was therefore rather repetitive for us. For lunch we always had to communicate our choices to the restaurants beforehand, which was done by WhatsApp and in the tour vehicle, as well as signing all the indemnity forms necessary for activities; this might come natural to the younger generation, but the few older ones among our group experienced this procedure as rather stressful. Our guide was knowledgeable, but we felt the rather brief information provided (as well as stories from his life and travel experiences) was mainly aimed at our mostly much younger fellow travellers and people with a shorter concentration span; we would have prefered more profound information. All in all, I regret to say that we would not travel with Hotspots again. For the southern African countries, I warmly recommend Nomad Tours, instead, with whom I took an unforgettable trip from Cape Town to Namibia and Botswana on one of their "adventure trucks" last year, with an international very diverse group and excellent communication before, during and after the journey.

We just ended our 4-day Watern Cape and Cape Peninsula tour and it was amazing. Our first time visit in South Africa was made wonderful by Hotspots2c very efficient travel officer Benita Sroebel and awesome guide Gerhard. Everything in the itinerary was followed with additional surprise from our guide Gerhard like the olive boutique. Nothing is so much trouble for him. He made sure that we were comfortable. and he even help in barbecueing out traditional braai dinner. Gerhard was funny, knowledgeable about places and animals. No dull moments during our travel. We saw many animals and he brought us to Swartberg pass, a beautiful mountain. When planning your next trip to South Africa, book at Hotspots2c and look for Benita Stroebel. She will guide you in planning and very quick to respond to my emails and queries. Request for Gerhard as your tour guide and you will have an unforgettable trip. Thank you Nita and Gerhard, from the bottom of our hearts. Gerhard, we hope to be with you again in our future trips.

I recently went on Garden Route + Addo tour with my partner. Mr. Nev (Siyabulela), our guide, was very knowledgable and entertained us with tidbits of information and interesting facts about different areas, their histories, people, cultures etc. We got the comfort package (with a few customisations) and it was worth every penny. Yes, you can actually contact Hotspot for customised packages. We especially enjoyed Nostalgie, the restaurant at Oudtshoorn, which serves the most delicious ostrich dishes. The accommodations were great, especially, the Sea Whisperer. For the last night (as part of the customised package), we had booked a private ensuit room at Pili Pili. The room was okay, but what really impressed us was the restaurant. They serve really good food and drinks (in big portions) for very affordable prices. All in all, a great experience! Highly recommended!

The trip was very well organized and planned. We had a lot of fun. it was amazing. A big compliment to our driver Issac. He put so much effort into making sure we are all always satisfied. He stops wherever you want. tries to take every hotspot with you and even if you want something that wasn't actually planned on the route. thank you isaac we will miss you very much. your jokes and your good mood. especially your knowledge. he knew everything, no matter what you wanted to know about the places or the country. We are so happy. we have often booked trips in many countries, but rarely or never experienced a guide like Isaac. thank you really!! due tour was well planned. everything was explained to you and the price is 10000% justified for the performance. we will certainly recommend you and thank hotspots2c.

  • Lina Quinones

This trip was so fun! My mom and I decided to go with this company after our Airbnb host said his previously hosts said only great things about Hotspots2C. Our guide “Issac” picked us up on time and we took a four hour drive to the first safari. The place was clean and the food was great! We saw so many cool animals we were amazed. We were then taken to the second safari which is the buffelsdrift game lodge and stay in their beautiful tents. Worth every penny! We saw three large hippos swimming in the lake in front of us and then went to spend time with the elephants. We then went on another safari ride where we saw more animals! It was definitely a trip to remember. My mom and I will definitely be back next time. Thank you to our amazing guide Issac and to the rest of the staff!

Absolutely amazing trip through South Africa!! This tour was put together so well and all of the activities and accommodations were top notch. This was the perfect route to satisfy the sight seeing and the adventurer within us all! We always had something to do and it was not overwhelming at any point. Our 5 day tour guide, Gehrald, was phenomenal and he truly made the difference for our experience. He went above and beyond multiple times and it’s obvious that he really enjoys his job. He made sure everything was perfect every step of the way! Our guides for the two day trips, JP and TK, we’re incredible as well! This experience was amazing and I wouldn’t have changed a thing about it. I couldn’t have asked for a better time!

We attended the 5 Day Garden Route and Addo Elephant Park tour with HotSpot2C, and it was absolutely amazing - we were introduced to amazing and diverse landscapes in South Africa, and tried various activities such as caving, kayaking, and bungee jumping! We were very lucky to have Maudi as our guide - he has been patient and always positive, and he was very open to share his own experiences and points of view on South African culture, languages (he speaks 8 languages), society, and politics. His insights made the trip truly special! Plus he has a great sense of humor, and our mini-coach has been filled with laughter along the way!

  • Jim White

We had an amazing 4 days. Having a private tour was outstanding. Our guide and driver Gerhard or Big G as we liked to call him made our stay in SA so great. We would never made it with out him. We had such a great experience that we also booked a 1 day Cape of Good Hope/Table mountain tour. Reach out to them and let them put together a custom tour for you and your family you will not be disappointed. Our family enjoyed the bungee jumping, the safari and stay in Winderness the best. Thank you to our trip consultant Nicolette she was outstanding and quick to respond!

  • Garrett Rice

My wife and I booked a private safari for our honeymoon and it was an experience of a lifetime! Hotspots took care of everything, and even added an extra site that we really wanted to see on our journey! Our guide Maudi was the BEST, he went above and beyond for us, he was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and always made sure we were taken care of on our journey, if you can request any guide ask for Maudi! Thank you Maudi and Hotspots2c for an unforgettable memory! This is the best safari tour company in Cape Town!

  • Amar Rao

The overall experience was amazing. My partner and I had a limited time in Capetown and wanted to experience the wildlife so abundant in Africa. The transportation, the accommodations and the game safaris were outstanding. The customer service from the Hotspot team was amazing. They went the extra mile to make sure we had the best overall experience. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone visiting Capetown and seeking unique experiences such ad wine tasting, gaming safaris, cruises in the bay, etc.

  • Simon Hor

This is one of the most enjoyable trip for me in South Africa under the arrangements from Hotspot2c for my 3 days tour. I enjoyed every moment during the tour. Tour guide, G.G. is very friendly and helpful. He took care of everything for our group with different generations. G.G. you are wonderful. You lead the group in a very professional manner and you will not be forget by all of us in our life. Definitely we will meet one day for another tour gathering. Strongly recommend to all for this tour

  • Hendrik Schleth-Tams

An unforgettable trip through South Africa with great experiences. I would do this trip again and again and find it very impressive how well one was helped and explained. Kudos go out to TK, one of the best tour guides I have ever experienced. TK was able to answer every question and made sure everyone was comfortable and everything was good. Many hours are spent in the car on this trip and you can still do what you feel like. We were more than satisfied and will be happy to come back.

  • Maryann McCoy

Hotspots2 was the best tour I’ve ever had the pleasure of being on. Five day tour is a full 5 days from day 1 at 6 am till day 5 at 8 pm. Our guide TK shared so much knowledge with us, made sure we all got to experience South Africa to the fullest. You can tell this tour has researched the best of everything to share with its clients. Best tour ever and certainly the best guide ever. Thank you TK for all the memories.

  • Jodi Clark

I booked a couple of trips with the Hotspots2C team after booking a spontaneous trip to South Africa and I loved it. The trip to Addo was incredible both on the organised game drive and when we drove through the park with our guide, Gerhard. I also toured the west coast on a West Coast WOW trip and loved it. I'll be back and I'll be using hotspots. You can check out the pics from the tour on Instagram: clarkyonthego.

I went on Hotspots2c tour for 3 days with Mr Nev ! This guide is just amazing, full of interesting and also funny stories! He drives safely and we went to a bunch of very nice places (cango caves, elephants, safari, nice restaurants and accomodation...). He also added ziplines for the ones who didn't want to do the body jumping. He advised us for future visits in Cape Town too. Thank you so much Mr Nev !

  • Tina Hopkins

We had a fantastic day trip in Cape Town and Liezel was an amazing tour guide! She didn't let the rainy weather slow us down a bit - despite the rain, we did a tour of the city, visited the Natural History Museum, saw the penguins at Boulder Beach, saw the coastline, and had delicious wine at Groot Constantia Winery!! Liezel was flexible, fun, informative, and wonderful! Thanks for a fantastic experience!!

  • Lachlan Hayes

The 5 days on the garden route was awesome! Our guide, Neville/Siyabulela was super friendly and informative, sharing facts and answering questions about all parts of the garden route. He was also very flexible with time, allowing us to make the most out of each activity. With so much driving on the garden route, I think having a good guide is key to a good experience and Neville certainly offered that!

  • NC West

Did the Garden Route + Safari Tour and I loved it. But what was outstanding beside the Tour itself was our Guide Uriel. The Best Guide I've met so far, great driving skills, even better energy and just a great companion to have a chat with while doing the 3 day Tour. I am sure the other Guides do a great Job as well but if I were to do another Tour with you guys I would love for it to be with Uriel.

  • Rachel Vernon

Great company! With and even better tour guide (Mr. Nev). My fiancé and I did a 3 day tour garden route and safari. It was the perfect amount of activity and time to do a lot of things. I enjoyed picking Mr. Nev’s brain and all the facts he knew. He even made sure there was time to stop at pull offs and enjoy the scenic view. Great company with great organization and communication

  • Richard Hall

An amazing experience. Left feeling like we had an experience of everything south Africa has to offer, rich history, amazing food and great activities. Our guide, Mr Nev was a great talker. Very informative and a good amount of personal stories really made the trip so special. Try and get a tour with him as the guide of possible. The 4 ⭐ option was well worth the extra $

  • Gabriela Dantas

It was one of the best experiencies I had in South Africa. The whole trip was the highlight of my visit to Cape Town. The attractions were awesome, the car comfortable, the group friendly, not to mention our guide, Nev, who was kind, helpful and fun all the time. For sure, we couldn’t have asked for a better guide to this remarkable trip!! Congrats, Hostspot and Nev!!

  • Stefani Jones

I did the 15 Day Jozi to Cape Country of Contrasts tour, and it was incredible! We went everywhere from the mountains to the beach, historical sites, etc. I learned so much about the country, cultures, and history. There is also a lot of great (optional) adventures too- hiking, bungee jumping, horseback riding, etc. I would highly recommend this tour.

  • Lior Steinberg

We had so much fun, and learned a lot about South Africa during the 5-day tour. Our guide was TK, and he was the best we could have asked for: knowledgeable, friendly, trustworthy. His explanations and stories made this tour so special for us. The tour had a good mix of activities, from adventures through sightseeing to great food. Recommended!

  • Rise Tanino

Our guide Nev was such a wonderful guy with lots of humor, kindness and flexibility. We really enjoyed the whole trip even in three days. My favorite was walking with elephants at the sanctuary and kayaking at the river, which not all the other tours offer. I’m so happy with my decision joining this trip!! Thank you so much.

  • Abbie Bankhead

Tour guide Uriel was AMAZING!! He was so sweet and caring and flexible and patient!! The elephants were my favorite part and the food was good too!
