It's a cool spot to photograph arriving jetliners landing IAH RWY 27. ALSF-2 runway approach-lights are bright and clearly visible from this gravel-covered lot. Caution, lot's surface is rough and uneven. With a handheld radio scanner, one can monitor air traffic communications between tower and aircraft on frequency 135.15.

Free and Official Airport Planespotting lot, with portable restrooms, it's tended by airport maintenance, and is a great place to watch the planes take off directly overhead. V1 and Rotation (commitment speed and liftoff) about a football field away. Sun can be blinding in the evening

Its an awesome place to watch planes land on Runway 27. Fantastic views with no obstructions whatsoever. Only gripe is that, today I went there and the gates to the plot were closed. Had to park on the side of the road. Just a heads up.

Super easy to get to. Large gravel parking lot, but lots of potholes. Right next to the runway, you can easily see planes land if they are landing westbound. There are a few garbage cans and one Porta-potty. Hours are dawn to dusk.

Great place to spend some time watching planes land. The place has too many puddles and the parking lot is very uneven. During rain I guess this would be a very messy place, and a car wash might be necessary.

This place is fun! No shade so bring sun blofk or stay in your car. Some people were saying that Terminal E parking garage is better. That's not true. We tried it.

Quiet place to wait for someone while spotting landings. Parking lot is gravel and very uneven, must drive carefully.

  • Jorge Olvera

Cool spot. There is another place on the other side of the airport to see planes land or take off the other runway.

"Closes" at 8 and by close I mean they drive around the parking lot just honking aggressively at you

  • Monica Ramirez

Big dirt lot, great spot to do some plane watching. Closes right before sunset.
