Have shopped the Bay over 40 years. Mostly good things to say about it. Have given many good reviews. Yesterday we were shopping at this location. Have not been to this location in years. Downtown is not convenient. I had to replace some stolen clothes and do not have the time to do so. The Bay is usually a quick shop. But not now. We were met by a rude clerk after waiting 10 min. She basically grabbed the items from my arms and told me I was only allowed 5 items. I have never been told this in 40 years at any location. Then she proceeded to dole out which items she deemed me worthy of. (this was a foreigner who could barely speak any English, not that I care about that but then they cannot understand or refuse to understand English when questioned about policy and how she is wrong.) We finally proceeded to fitting room after she completed another sale to a customer who had just walked up. Another delay. So about 15 min of waiting we get to fitting room which is only accessible by combination. As we walk into fitting room there is only one person in room with only one door closed of about 6 doors. She walks up to the only closed door and opens it up without even knocking. Behind door one is a half naked man and all she does is stand with door open and say something inaudible to home and closes door iun his obvious stunned face, no apology here. The mans wife was frowning the whole time. She escorts me to next door and tells me I am allowed to use this room. I must tell her when finished and that she will bring rest of clothes for me if I need them. It takes me about 5 minutes or less to try on the few items I was allowed to take in by her. I have to get dressed to go out of change room to find her to get the other items. Of course she is helping other customers so another 10 min wait. Finally my wife just gets the other items and attempt to bring them to me. I had to open the door from the inside to let my wife in, there is only one chair in this room so wife had to stand and wait while I tried on items. I hear the other person in room complain about her as well. She comes back into room (I do not appreciate being locked in a room and treated like a criminal when all I am doing is trying on clothes and making a large purchase. Clerks are not security and should be kept seperate). She proceeds again inaudible and just stands there. I have to push door closed. I then lock door, but to even have her knock on closed door is ridiculous. There is another person now in the room with their family. They are just as frustrated by this lady and jam the locked door open. Clerk comes back after a few minutes and slams door shut. These people soon leave and they accousted by this clerk and reprimanded in front of children. Thankfully these people told her off and left with out purchasing anything. I am now 40 min into my fittings and finally my wife jams door again to not have to keep dealing with her. She finally brings me some proper sizes I need and several of them. She stands by door to make sure don't get locked in our "cell" again. What should have taken 20 min was now an hour. I found several items to purchase and am getting dressed. This clerk returned and starts yelling at my wife, then accuses my wife of being racist because my wife told her to speak English. I grabbed all my items and proceeded to nearby clerk and all we heard was her yelling about calling security and ignoring our requests to speak to her manager. We went next check out and demanding to speak to Manager. They complied and offered us a extra 25% discount in return after we explained what transpired. The messed up clerk was not dealt with and was still working her station. That sends message to me that customers do not matter. She should have been fired on the spot. We left the store, I put my purchases on hold as we wanted time to reflect on wether we should even shop there anymore. I have not decided if I am going back and If I do I want to see if they honour their offer of additional 25% off.

I posted the rating before I had time to write a review. The downtown Bay has been my go-to store for more than 30 years. I appreciate the quality goods and depended on the knowledgeable and professional staff. I find I shop online primarily, but if I need to return an item, I go into the store. The return desk had moved from the last time I needed to go back, and the directional signage was not clear. An arrow seemingly pointed me in the direction of the main floor shoe department where I could see no staff. I finally called out hello quite loudly and an associate from another department asked if I were looking for returns. I replied yes and was redirected. The person who helped me with the return didn't understand my issue with the item I was returning which was that it had been advertised online as cotton, but was in fact polyester and another synthetic. I had paid for several items on the same order with my Bay card and used reward points. I asked her if she needed my rewards card, but she processed the refund as cash on my credit card, so now when I order new things online, I have to pay for them rather than use accumulated points until I purchase sufficiently to offset the reward points. Since I was there, I made a trip into the lower floor linens department in a search for a cotton blanket, not coverlet, for a twin bed. A helpful young woman whose name I have forgotten did a check for me, and found nothing in that department. I asked her to check in the children's department, and she was told that there was a such an item. I went up to the 4th floor childrens department and looked for a staff person on duty. The one I found was not the one who had advised that there was a cotton twin bed blanket, so I awaited until she returned. When she did and showed me the blanket she had identified, it turned out it was a crib blanket. I appreciate that in those covid days, things are more challenging for everyone and that there are fewer staff on duty due to fewer in-store customers. However, the Bay needs to up its instore performance with staff who know their stuff.

Received excellent, efficient, and very friendly service at the watch department. Had to get the Gshock battery replaced, and because I'm so efficient myself, I approached the task the night before only to apparently bend a spring here and there (my first battery replacement for said unit), and the nice guy spent extra time and put forth above and beyond efforts to correct my mistake - he didn't have to do that, he could have told me to 'buy another one', but he did not. A rare move seen now in these days and times. So its fixed, time works, and no extra cost to me. Thank you watch department man. But what hasn't changed.... Its hot, I have a muscle shirt on, I am sporting a knapsack as I'm out enjoying the weather. The watch and jewlery departments are one of the same. So while waiting for my oops to be corrected I am browsing the latest in Kate Spade, Ralph Lauren and the other exquisite designer diamond, gold, platinum, and silver creations they have on hand (most at 40%-60% off the regular price i may add for you looking to shop folks - a birthday or anniversary coming up? I'd hit the Bay) now i may be dressed as I am but I'm sporting a $13k watch, and 24ct gold rimmed sunglasses, and it may be a muscle shirt but its not Old Navy (sorry nothing against them) but you think the dinasor behind the glass display sees any of that? Not a chance... what else am I to do while waiting 10 minutes for my watch besides being watched as if I were about to do a smash and grab??? Like seriously learn how to observe the way someone carries themselves because I was going to ask to look and purchase the very well and beautifuly crafted and very expensive diamond tennis bracelet for a special friend but felt so uncomfortable to even ask for something I ended up with a pair of cubic zirconia earrings instead and a hurried get me the heck out of the Bay feeling instead. Sorry but HR - you need to train the elderly staff a bit better, you lost a $7k sale today.

I was there at around 4:30ish PM today March 14, 2023 and I really had a very bad experience with a sales person named Samira Rafizada. I'm not sure if she told me her name right but she is a woman with a crooked teeth(I don't mean to be rude describing her but I want to make sure that I refer to the right person who I want to complain) and she's wearing eyeglasses and she was stationed at Clinique. I have always been a Clinique user for so many years and it was my first time to be treated in a bad way by a sales person. She was so rude and mean and very condescending! Clinique advertised to ask for 10-day sample and all I was asking was if she could add a little bit more of the sample as the amount given to me is not even enough for a full coverage yet but she could have said it nicely that she can't give more because it's what she have but the way she answered was so rude and mean and that's not how you treat your customers and to think she works for customer service. If she's not happy working there, she should leave as she is ruining the company and the brand she works for. I have witnesses on how she has showed her nasty attitude. And I asked nicely for a make up remover and she answered, "I only have 2 hands so if you could wait" That's not how you answer your customer, instead she could have said, "let me finish this then I'll give you a make up remover after". This woman should be reprimanded as she doesn't have the value and skills of a true customer service and she could have been like that with other customers as well. I have so much to say but my emotions are so full right now because I know that I wasn't really treated well and right. I'm very dissatisfied!!! Watch out and don't go to Hudson Bay Clinique downtown Calgary as the woman named Samira who works there has a very poor customer service skills!!!

Worst customer service ever in this branch! The bay recently had a Black Friday deal, that if you shop for $200 they will give you $ 50 back. I had some shopping the day before and I was told by the staff that If I bring my yesterday receipt to the branch, they will consider it’s purchase amount (in addition to my current purchase) towards 200 dollars and I will be eligible to use the $50 back.I had to drive all the way back home to bring the yesterday”s receipt and then when I wanted to use it to get the $ 50 cash back, All the sudden and out of the blue, a new manager came to the service desk and told me that they made a mistake!!! and that receipt can not be considered for the promotion!!! Well, thank you very much dear manager for letting me know, but that’s not my mistake! Your staff told me that it is eligible and if the promotion’s instructions is not clear for your staff I, as a customer, should not be the one paying the price for your mistakes. She was not understanding at all and did not try to resolve the issue at all! I was totally disappointed in the bay, by expecting first hand, how a customer is being poorly treated for they’re own mistake and how the customer satisfaction seems to be a non existent subject there!

Our experience at The Bay Downtown buying a bedroom set has been absolutely horrible! Firstly, it took the sales person 1 full hour to ring through the purchase then proceeded to tell us we would we waiting until January to receive the full order. This purchase was not cheap! He told us they could ship the delivery to our new address outside of Calgary which we later found out that they cannot. I had to call the main number to rectify the shipping error. When we finally received the furniture, 3 of the pieces were damaged (as in chunks of wood were broken off) and the bed slats and the bed posts were missing. We have called 7 times and have talked to a variety of people trying to rectify the situation and they have done nothing to help us. We have a king bed set we cannot put together because we do not have all the pieces (slats and posts) and a very damaged chest of drawers) We received the order in September so we have been trying to deal with this for over 3 months. The BAY has the absolute worst customer service I have ever had to deal with. None of the representatives seem to know what they are doing nor how to fix the situation. Stay far away from The Bay Furniture!

I've had very great shopping experiences overall at the Bay. The most impressive one happened on the Black Friday in 2022. The Shoes department was super busy in the later afternoon, but all staff members were welcoming and attentive to customers' needs. I was looking for a pair of UGG winter boots size 9 for my sister, but there was only size 8 in store then. The supervisor Sharmin asked one cashier to help me to do an online order after she found size 9 there. The cashier tried 3 times with Sharmin's support, but no luck to complete the transaction. There was a long queue after me, so I felt very sorry for taking so much time from them. Sharmin patiently asked me to come next Monday, so she would order online again and keep all discounts for my purchase. Therefore, I got the great deal on Cyber Monday. I was so grateful for the outstanding customer services and consideration of Sharmin and her team. I would like to keep shopping at the Bay due both quality products and extraordinary services. Thank you Sharmin and your team!

NEGATIVE STARS!!! what a trashy place, their sales associates are always on the edge thinking everyone asking questions are gonna shoplift or have no forms of payment, i do get this place is swarming with downtown bums but what kind of management running this dumpster to not put a security personnel by the door instead when there’s only one door that’s in use anyway. so they put a petite lady trying to sign me up for their new credit card by the door instead..like WTH be smarter than that?!, and on top of all they always hire people with little or no experience trying to provide service and sell goods. cosmetic and cologne counter associates especially always try to sound smart but contradict themselves with answers they try to provide making them look really dumb. i looked at their shoes and they were wearing the ugliest shoes a retail personnel should ever wear. don’t try to be friendly here. they only try to give u attitude as if they’re not making minimum wage. they are not high end, very very pretentious

I went to this location to do a refund. I originally bought couple of shirts as a gift for my father that lived outside Canada. Unfortunately my father passed away two weeks ago. I explained everything to the manager named Elena and I asked her to do the refund for me. I knew from before that when there is no receipt, refunds would be done as a gift card for future purchases from Hudson Bay. But the manager refused to do it for me. She said because you don't have the receipt we cannot confirm that you bought these shirts from Hudson Bay. So she literally was saying that I was lying to her. I tried to explain again what the situation was. But she was just talking about company's policy and playing with words. I wish Hudson Bay management realize that Policies are to better serve the clients and without clients there will be no business. It is worth noting that I took these shirts to Hudson Bay in Chinook. And when I explained about the situation, they kindly helped me with the refund.

BUYER BEWARE- I purchased a stroller before Xmas online from The Bay. It was a gift and the recipient received a stroller from another family member. I tried to take the stroller back to The bay at Market mall and they said I have to return it through a market place seller. This has been a huge nightmare. The marketplace seller “Save On Many” will not take the stroller back unless I pay to have it shipped back. The cost of shipping is 1/2 the price of the stroller. When I purchased this stroller I did so thinking I was ordering from The Bay and I would be able to return it. The Bay and the marketplace seller will not return my emails or do anything to rectif this situation. If I had known this policy I would never have ordered this . I feel the bay needs to rectify this situation since they are promoting this seller on their website and MISLEADING CUSTOMERS to the fact it is their product. I will never shop at the bay again they have lost a life long customer over this

Worst customer service experience I've ever seen for furniture shopping. Buying the furniture was quick and easy, but when the pieces came in they had defects. A replacement was scheduled but delays pushed a replacement date to almost 3 months after the initial delivery. When I opted to return the product instead it took over 5 separate calls to confirm the item would be returned, 3 calls to actually schedule the pickup. Now after nearly a month of not having the product I still have not received my money back, despite calling multiple times, and on my most recent call I have been told they will have to wait 48hrs before even escalating the issue to a manager... I have never had issues with The Bay for clothing or smaller items, but I will never buy furniture from them again. I got scammed in Cambodia once for $15 and that was quite literally a better experience than this has been.

  • Mira Reuben-Spear

Very upset with my experience. I waited in line to try and return an item with my gift receipt after 20 min they said sorry there’s nothing we can do as our system cannot recognize we can only do something if you have the original receipt. What is the point of a gift receipt if they can’t even except it because there is an error on their end. The manager tried to pass off that he couldn’t do anything because I had probably bought it on sale and now it’s full price when actually it was the other way around.I felt really uncomfortable with how pushy he was being and making me feel as if it was my fault and that I was trying to scam the bay. I contacted Hudson’s bay twice and they said they would contact me back with a solution but never did. I am very upset as I have been shopping at the bay for as long as I can remember.

I was recently shopping at the Calgary Downtown location and wanted to find something for my wife's Birthday. I was served by a sales associate Oliya from the Dresses department. The minute I approached her, I felt very welcome and when I explained to her the reason for my visit I told her that I don't really know what I want to buy, she started to ask questions about what my wife likes to wear and offered me a couple of different options. Oliya was very knowledgeable about all the different styles and she even showed me a couple of things in different departments. I was very pleased to have her helping me and was able to find a great gift for my wife. My wife loved it very much. I want to thank Oliya and will definitely visit the store and this department again in the future!!

I am complaining about the treatment I received from a Bay employee. Yesterday I was at the downtown Bay in Calgary returning some items i ordered online. I was first in line when someone showed up to help me, (no one was at the till for 5 minutes) and then another Bay employee wearing a yellow blazer with brown hair from the furniture section came over with her customer budged in front of me and dismissed me when i had mentioned i was there first and told the gentleman working to help her client now and that I could wait. I mentioned it to the lady who ended up helping me and she apologized. However - I will not be shopping at this location again - her treatment was beyond RUDE to me and extremely dismissive. I have to say I am beyond disappointed.

Hudsons bay elsewhere is great but this one is a disappointed! The first time we were there, there was still 35 minutes for the store to close and a gentleman working at the store came and told everyone to leave and said they had shut all the doors except one on another floor. That was such an inconvenience. The second time the store was supposed to shut at 6pm and I needed to pick up something. I travelled 1.5 hours to get there and reached at 5pm and just then another man working at the store came and locked the door before we got in and said they were closing and had forgotten to update the store timings online. Pathetic customer service. Inconsiderate people working at this store. Never going back. And I suggest you choose another one too :)

  • Brandon Jeworski

I came in with a faulty high end watch, expecting a return, exchange or service. The customer service rep I dealt with was very unhelpful and misled me to believe that she was calling a manager when she did not. I had 45 minutes of my time wasted before I talked to the General Manager to resolve my issue when he mentioned that nobody called a manager. The issue was as simple as getting the Watch service genetleman to replace my battery since it arrived dead. Very displeased with the service, and I have written a formal in-depth complaint to Hudson's Bay HO about my experience. I expect employees to be trained on very simple protocols especially after working in retail for over 6 years.

I love this location. Let’s start by saying I’m a little biased because i am a HUGE fan of the bay. I have been to ever location in the city, and this location and market mall are both close #1 to me. The staff at this location are very good, everyone from the perfume/cosmetics area, to shoes, to just general department staff. The shoe section is always busy here, but at lunchtime on weekdays seem to be more busy, but i always find myself getting great service even though the staff are up to their necks in size try on requests. Huge props to them, and huge props to the management in charge of this location to hiring such great staff.

  • Tina Darlin

Again the bay did not help me I am of Aboriginal woman. I look it n am proud of it I went for bay days for a winter jacket n boots Not one of the ladies in either section said hello or can I help you so I walked around looking for my size n still nothing In both shoes n clothing There are jacket's everywhere of all styles Finally I said enough The greeter on the south door I told her of my disappointment she said thats to bad. She smiled I said really Than I went to mall to shop Again this is the third time the bay turned me away I will continue to write about it Do better bay If bay days aren't for everyone Who is it for???

  • Laurie H

Don't give the older blonde woman at the Elizabeth arden counter any of your time... she's biased she's extremely profiling if you arent wearing makeup or seem to have the latest chanel bag she treats you like the garbage on the back ofnher heel when she leaves the bathroom from time to time... she likes to pretend she's better than everyone else even though she makes starting eage plus grat and i have friends in the industry who struggle!... get off your high horse and BTW you DONT know your own products if you DIDNT know they don't have security foils over the lid spouts!

I love shopping at The Bay in The Core! They have such great selections at reasonable prices, and the store itself is usually quite well kept. The only detractor that comes to mind is that - unless you know EXACTLY what it is you're there for - it's so huge you have to make sure to dedicate enough time (I recommend a minimum of 30 minutes to an hour, to be safe) to browse the floor of your choice (there are six levels at this location). Tl;dr - Great selection, clean store, very large (dedicate at least 30 min to an hour if you'll be browsing). Happy shopping!

  • Ayem Gilani

Horrible customer service, I bought dress pants which I returned because they ripped from the side after using them twice and brought back with the receipt, tags and only wanted to switch those pants, and I swapped it with the exact same brand style and size and the person and her manager (Alice was her name I think) were asking me about my size and if I was wearing these pants to the gym, I brought back the pants within 2 weeks of the purchase and they still asked me one insulting question after another Edit: Nice of the owners to respond after 4 years

  • Samrah Ahtsham

I came with my friends here to buy perfume. I was at the origin shop trying some scrubs and lotion. There was barely any lotion left in the bottle so without realizing I opened the bottle and tried to put lotion on my hands that way. Samira a worker comes up and starts talking really rudely to me and I explain to her I didn’t realize that it was unhygienic of me to do that and apologized to her twice. Yet she still goes around to her other employees and loudly speaking of the event and made me feel very uncomfortable. Never coming again…

My husband and I on a rare jaunt downtown decided to look at the furniture selection at The Bay. We had great timing as an up to 60% off sale was on. The selection was insane. The floor is HUGE! I was greeted by Maria. She helped us view all the items we could like, she was helpful and laid back. I ended up buying couch and three beautiful chairs for under $1400. It was such a great deal and Maria was helpful. Just great all around selection and customer service means for us-,well, we'll be back! Thank you Maria!

  • Adrian Dayrit

This Bay is quite is a bit run down compared to other locations and the layout is a little odd. The cleaner they use in the bathroom smells really strong and you catch whiffs of it while shopping. It has access to the rest of the mall so it's a good place to enter if it's really cold outside and you're getting off the train. It's really dark and depressing in this location despite all the windows the building has. The windows are wasted because they are covered on most floors by walls. It's really a shame.

  • Teri

It sure isn't the same Hudson Bay store that is was 20 years ago. Highly overpriced. The main floor is cosmetic/perfume as it has always been, no surprise there. The rest of the store is furniture, and clothing...all way overpriced. And getting around is like a maze trying to find escalators that are functioning, and the construction areas. I have to admit I haven't been in a Hudson Bay store in 20 years, and I went mostly for nostalgic memories, and and maybe to buy a little something. So disappointing.

  • Ruth Lewis

I went to the Bay in Calgary recently to buy a bra. It was priced at $51, so I went to pay for it and pointed out that the exact same product was being sold on The Bay’s website for $26! The cashier gave me the lower price, but I feel like I cannot trust The Bay. It would be fair if it was a competitor who was charging $25 less for the same product, but the same company. It feels like a huge breech of trust. How am I supposed to trust any of their prices??? I won’t be shopping at The Bay anymore ?

  • Andrea Wood

I got ripped off for $60. I came in and the lady chose two foundation colors for me to try. One was good, the other was orange. She sold me the wrong one. I trusted her, which was my mistake. She’s human, and humans make mistakes, so that’s not why I gave one star. I went to return it and the lady wouldn’t return it because I didn’t have the original box. She was just enforcing the policy. I don’t know if this is a Clinique policy or a Bay policy, but either way I’m not shopping here ever again.

  • NEHA DALWALA

Here, collection is so amazing for girls and boys both. You will find pretty fantastic offers too on winter jackets as well as summer fashion. Thermal and west are also in many varieties. Sales associates are also very cooperative and kind. But they do not provide clothe bag for winter Jacket, so I suggest you to take one with you, they charge for clothe bag another 10 dollars so it's not worthy, don't forget to take bag with your because winter jackets are some what heavy for Plastic bags!!!

  • E Bell

Hudson's Bay/The Bay has always (at least in my 60 years of experience) had appalling customer service, the only place you'll ever find staff is at the cash register - no floor staff to assist or answer questions about products/services. I was there today with a friend and, with the exception of the staff in the women's shoe department, nothing has changed. If you have loads of time and even more loads of money to spend shop at a Bay otherwise give it a miss. Rich tourists love this place.

  • Kristy

I love their online shopping. They deliver quickly and it’s packaged well in plastic bags inside the box. Returns are easy too, take it back to the store or mail it back. They are a really good department store. They have such a variety of goods and clothes and everything is quite good quality. They have a lot of extra services that you can read about on their website too. The only downside is if you go into the store, they don’t have your size and they tell you to order it online.

  • Georgia Erana

My mom went to hudson bay to have the battery of her michael kors changed. When the guy opened her watch he continued to say negative commens about her watch, eg. Its fake, missing screws, dirty inside and says they have no screw and need to order one. So my mom went to Westbrook and the guy in westbrook was able to fixed it by changing the battery in no time w/o any judgement. And I wonder how would it be fake when it was bought directly from Michael Kors in CrossIron.

Excellent selection of menswear in a range of styles and prices. Staff are generally helpful and friendly. I've been told the women's section is not as diverse as the men's but your mileage may vary. Definitely keep an eye out for bay days as the sales can be quite good Wheelchair access to the 2nd and third floors is available via the elevators in the scotia center As with most major stores the selection for big guys is lacking. This is the reason for 4 stars and not 5.

I had the pleasure of receiving exceptional service from Navjot Brar, during my recent visit to Hudson Bay in downtown Calgary. Navjot's knowledge and assistance were truly outstanding. She went above and beyond to provide me with all the information I needed, making my shopping experience both enjoyable and efficient. Her dedication to her work and her commitment to providing great service are truly commendable. Thank you, Navjot, for your outstanding assistance!

The women in lancome so not professional this is the second time I visit Hodson Bay lancom/Chinook center section and she happens to be there unfortunately so unprofessional all her answers is like I don't know I have no idea in a very rude way not gonna deal with lancom ever again if she happened to be there she wasted enough of my time can you please have someone at least know when the products will arrive at least so you won't loose more clients... thanks

My wife went to this salon to dye her hair in purple, but she got a combination of orange, brown, golden, red and a bit of purple back (although Genet, the novice associate, dyed my wife's hair twice). The next day we figured out that my wife's shirt has a big color spot on the collar as well. We reported the damages to the associates in charge the following day, and the only response we got back was ignorance. We do not recommend using this salon at all!!!

  • Tara Cleveland

Unlike most trips to the Bay in Toronto where I stand around for ages looking for someone to bring me shoe sizes, I was inundated with staff willing to help me. Unfortunately, it was to the point where it was quite annoying. Every 2 minutes someone asked me if I needed help. Probably about 10 different people in one shoe department asked - slightly over zealous. BUT - I did get some amazing boots at a massive discount (80% off!!). So I'm a happy camper.

  • Andrew Pham

Came to the store to purchase perfume for my mom and was blown away with one of the most excellent customer service I have received. Unfortunately I lost the business card of the associate but she was the sale agent at the Guerlain counter and her name might have been Rhony. She was the sweetest lady and took great pride in her service. She was quick to my needs and offered me just what I need. Great wrapping and souvenirs to take away as well!

  • Lori Brodie

The store is definitely a hit and miss on everything, it's not a conventional store with a definitive sale you can count on, 'maybe that's why I like it some of the time'...bargains to be had for those willing to look around from floor to floor, they keep moving things around to keep you guessing where everything is...plus they have online stuff to keep you interested. The old escalators are worth the visit if you like a blast from the past!

bought a t shirt not on sale, sales associate put the receipt and everything in a bag, I still have 30 days for return, just to come home and realize she put a t shirt without a tag, when I came back to the store ,1 day later to return it they wouldn’t accept because I had no tag , and no manager in sight to call. In the end THEY DIDNT ACCEPT MY RETURN EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THEIR SALES ASSOCIATE AT FAULT WHO DID NOT EVEN GIVE THE TAG.

I started out having a really horrible experience from start to finish buying patio furniture and even opted out at a certain point. But I have to say the Amanda the manager of Home Furnishings was amazing. She stepped in and made sure I received the patio set in time, and corrected every single issue I had. Thank you Amanda for going the extra mile and making the experience better! You are fantastic!

My favorite place to pickup makeup and skin care products. Everyone is very helpful especially Janna from Shiseido counter who goes above and beyond to find what I need and if not in stock she will ship to me when available which is very helpful since the town I live in doesn't carry all my fav. products. Even though I live far north, always enjoy stopping by the Bay whenever we visit Calgary.

  • V S

Overall the best Bay to shop at. At least to me. On the downside, it is quite worn out. And the owners neglect maintaining it in good order. Like this washroom sign: I see it for 1.5 years - while any washroom issue can be fixed in a week. That's too bad they don't care. The escalators are usually broken down too. UPDATE: received owner's reply which is 4 years late and essentially useless.

  • manong ftmcmurray

Anastasia of Jewelry section is very helpful and professional. Bought a watch as a gift and she's understanding while I'm browsing. The place is clean and organized. Definitely embodies what a Hudson's Bay store is. Most of the staff greet and ask me if I need any help. Also, Rebecca of Neo Financial is fun having her around in knowing what sales are coming. Thanks to Anastasia and Rebecca.

  • Meghan Swim

My watch stopped working and I went to get the battery replaced. When I mentioned that I had just replaced it 6 months ago so it should be okay the associate took the time to clean all the inner connections and retry my old battery, which ended up working once it was cleaned. It saved me money on having to replace the actual battery and my watch is working like new! Thank you

  • The Tourist

The Bay is fantastic. Always good sales and lots of product. I read one woman on here complaining that she got a $25 discount because of an alert employee. You got the discount and complained. If you didn't get the discount you would have complained that The Bay didn't let you know about it. That's where we are at. One of the worlds oldest companies has seen everything now.

  • I. Yang

After walking around the second floor, I asked where slippers are, and the staff told me if they are not here, then it’s either first or third floor. Let’s just say the staff could have been a bit more useful.... also, the 60% off signs everywhere is too distracting. All the shoes are still overpriced after the supposed big discounts. Gimmicks like that are just annoying.

  • John Mackeigan

Between the lack of choices and staff it has gone down hill . Ask for a gift box for my purchase. Wow did the csr have fit, then tossed my change at the counter . Asked 3 time for the sales slip to be the gift slip type. Response was a huff and a eye roll. Cant believe how bad it has gotten there. Your staff make it or brake it for you. My money now goes else where.

  • Chris MacLean-Goodhew

Chriz was an absolute breath of fresh air. I was lugging a shoe box around so he offered to take it up to the counter and get me checked out. He also brought up the massive discount on some really soft throw blankets which I gladly grabbed. Chriz brings such a light fun energy to him and has made me a shopper who will definitely return and shop there more.

  • Average Jay

The selection is still good, but due to COVID restrictions, not all sizes are available. Don't know how COVID effects the ability to manufacture varying sizes of the same product, but that's the reason behind the unavailability of size 12 shoes... Lol... I also met the cutest little dog named Milo, and uploaded a picture of him. Let me know what you think!

  • Dragan Ivancevic

Still a great outlet, but overall disappointing. Especially the location downtown. Not enough staff. No deco yet. Limited to no selection on brands they used to carry, notably the absence of Superdry stretch is really unnerving, Other locations look similarly empty and dull. Getting somebody to unlock the change rooms is a pain. …

  • Krzysztof Adamczyk

I don't like the system of getting to the fitting rooms - cashier opens door for you, but if there is a line to register you have to wait. Of course there is a few fitting rooms on each floor but when I was there I've been walking around the floor from one fitting room to another and it took me 20 mins to finally get to the inside.

  • Phyllis Humphrey/ Drysdale

I don't shop here very much cuz it's 2 expensive, but what I do buy is made very well. Name brand doesn't mean that much 2 me either. Clothes are clothes. JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE'S NAME IS ON A PIECE OF CLOTHING MAKES THE PRICE GO EXTREMELY EXTREMELY OUTRAGEOUSLY HIGHER THEN A REGULAR PIECE OF CLOTHING IS BEOND ME!!!! …

  • L S

They cancelled our online order without much of explanation. I've been personally in their store yesterday and I saw the exact item that I ordered earlier online from the order they cancelled (in-store was more expensive). NOT NICE AT ALL. Not to mention it's such a waste of time to browse online just to get the order cancelled.

  • tina I

The ladies were nice but they made me feel rushed didnt ask if we needed help but hovered good work ethic always watching but do it in a friendly way please Focus on the return customer with customers service Now a days kindness goes along way good job ladies That's ok winners had my hoodie But I'll be back The bay rocks

  • L M

Exceptional customer service from the staff member who works in the watch repair section. I have gone to him on a couple of occasions for leather watch strap and battery replacement. I recently lost weight and he removed links from two steel watch bands. He is very courteous and provides quick turnaround.

  • Natasha Christie

The Hudson Bay has been around in Canada for a long time so I don't have any complaints about it. But I do notice some cheap designer clothes and it's not the Hudson Bay's fault it's the designer in general. So if the bay can actually tell some stop making cheap clothes I think I could live a better life.

  • Shayne C

I can't comment on the entire store, but I had a good experience purchasing men's dress clothes here. The employees helping around this area were friendly and gave recommendations. The tailor on-site was able to get items altered in a rush as per my request (24 hours in my case, but you will pay extra)

  • ian buehler

Unfortunate shopping experience. Everyone helping was nice and polite - but it looks like their overall company direction is lacking. One of those “doing the best with what they’ve got” type situations. You can find the same products in a plethora of other stores with a much better shopping experience.

  • Ignacio Ottati

This is an iconic building in the heart of Downtown Calgary. The store has as many options as you can imagine and great quality products. This location in particular is enormous, and service is great from their staff. The location is quite convenient as it has a C-train station right around the corner.

  • Brady Friedrich

Good prices, terrible service. I was attempting to purchase a suit here and the only employee around was not familiar with suits at all. Once I had found one I liked and needed a fitting room, he had disappeared and I was forced to wander the store looking for an employee for nearly 10 minutes.

  • Grace Lee

The worst experience ever with purchasing a furniture here. I've waited for 10 months and ended up cancelling it as they just told me it will take 2 more months. The whole process was so frustrating and now I have to wait 14 business days to get it refunded. I wasted so much time for nothing!

  • Christine Maurette

Great staff, great stock and great location. I love going here as it's more quiet than the other Bays and staff has more time to spend with you. The men's department is EXTREMELY well stocked and very knowledgeable here. Great turn around time for alterations. Great fragrance department.

  • DJ Chabot

I shop here mainly for the convenient location _right off the CTrain_ and not to mention the friendly knowledgeable staff. I buy my cologne here and occasionally I will purchase menswear. Architecturally speaking the building is a work of art. I highly recommend visiting this location.

  • Corey

A lot of registers are closed so finding an available cash could be difficult. Escalators are ALWAYS busted (no matter what location) so funneling people to the elevators makes for lengthy commuting around the store. Lots of sales around the store and lots to look at. Friendly staff.

  • Shawn Kearns

Less and less product in this store every time I go. The housewares department on the lower level could use some staff and some better merchandising (especially in small appliances and dishes/glassware). When you can find staff they are helpful and friendly....just need more of them.

  • Sheryl Ang

We were shopping for our daughter for her residence at The Bay Scotia Centre. Alem from the home decor department helped us find the items on our long shopping list. She was very kind in finding the sizes and recommending items that were on sale! Happy day shopping! Thanks Alem.

  • Ayse Gurpinar

This is the original Canadian historic department store. It is generally full of merchandise. Some are not too bad but prices may be a little expensive to US standards. I always like to visit the store when im in Calgary. It is also right in D/T at a very convenient location.

  • Arpita Ganguly

The bay is fabulous....not just for shopping but even the customer service is amazing. The associates are super nice and accomodating and the offers are so good and budget friendly. I loved every bit of my experience at HUDSON BAY....keep up the good work!!!! Best wishes.

  • Sujesh Padhi

I liked the summer collection they have now due to bay day with nice discounts. If you are around Stephen Avenue then this is a must visit. If you really want to go for shopping then you can't exit without buying something as it's tempting to find so many options here.

  • Marjan Moradi

Great staff, great place. I always shop from them. Staff are very professional and super helpful specially Reza in fragrances in downtown location. The best quality with the best deals. I love their oneday sales. Close to Christmas they have the best deals in town.,

  • Lorne Casey

I think this is and always has been my favorite Hudson's Bay. I used to go here when I was a kid and went there the other week, it's still really nice and the staff there are great. Nice to see a great store like this lasting all these years. Hope it stays the same.

  • Jan Din

Great selection of goods. Sales have strings attached so beware of the conditions before you head to the counter. Many things don't have price tags so you have to ask an associate - very inconvenient. Their selection and sale pricing is the only reason I shop here.

  • Luis Araujo

This was a horrible experience for me and to my family. We trusted The Bay and bought a fancy coffeemaker instead of buying it from Amazon. The product never arrived to us. It ruined our birthday surprise. We will never buy anything from The Bay ever again.

  • Blair Russel

Needed watch repair while in Calgary from Mexico for only a short time. Delighted with the prompt, courteous and very competent work done by the staff jeweller and watch repair clerk. Service was exceptional and the cost lower than I expected.

  • Sunshine Beliga

The Bay Optical is a great place to shop for any type of glasses you need. Shopped for leather furniture, sales personnel was very helpful. Wanted to look for "denim" leggings too. Bay Days are the time to shop for anything you need or want.

  • Jacqueline Wilcox

I really disliked the experience of shopping here. It's really huge, and severely understaffed. The staff that are present don't seem to know anything about any section apart from theirs. The layout is also not very helpful, you kinda just

  • Terry C (freedomblazes)

Polina is the best. She was the only employee on her floor and helped me to the max. Took the time to explain all bedding and my choices and helped me to make the best decisions. She's so great I overbought lol. Thanks P:) Good luck at HBC!

  • Garry Kushner

The Bay always good/ always been there. Bit slow right now during Pendemic , as business is returning to normal. Although distancing and masks will be around for quite some time. So go shopping at the Downtown Bay if you like but remember

  • benita1009

Furniture department , crappy products, terrible customer service, ridiculous return/exchange policy. Trust me, stay away from that store. It already ruined my family's holidays and don't let do the same thing to you. STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

  • Angel Castillo

Richelle went above and beyond to help us find a great deal. She had other customers to attend to, yet she made sure to walk us to the cashier herself. Exceptional customer service and commitment to excellence. I hope you celebrate her!

  • Chris

A flagship story worthy of the title. The store is showing its age, but it's still really well used. Great men's clothing options and sales on a regular basis. A shame the basement has lost the cafeteria, but it was never all that busy.

  • Orlando Joffre

I went in to get some help on picking a new Givenchy cologne and was helped by Reza. I want to note I had a wonderful experience with what i’d call the best customer service i’ve gotten when shopping for a cologne. He was attentive,

  • Kyle Derby MacInnis

Once an icon of the city, the HBC is a shallow empty hull....Richard Baker has destroyed this national icon of a company. They are another in a line of corporate greedy ignorant lead companies and the swan song started playing....

  • Emmi Emmi

We went to the shoes section to do price match from sport check they are competitive but this lady her name HERA she says buy from sport check .and didn’t do the price match not recommended.manager should watch the staff .

  • Eric Thibodeau

Red Deer Store - The customer service lady in the woman's department was rude and ignorant when asked for assistance. My wife and I left Hudson Buy. 30 years been shopping at this chain. There will be two less now.

  • Cyn Thia

Harvey from the men’s clothing section was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. Find him if you need help with men suits/pants/dress shirts! He provided us with helpful suggestions during our shopping experience!

  • Mazin Salloumi

Very bad management, nasty treatment, they are idiots they are deliberate to lose customers.... because I gave them bad feedback, they blocked my reward points.... those people doing nothing but keep lying .....

  • melissa from

The Bay have really stepped up their game in the last few years. This is not grandma's department store any more. Any professional woman can find a full work and casual wardrobe she will love - all in one store!

  • Josh Miller

Great store, great staff. Went in to buy a suit for work and the blond lady (sorry I forgot your name...) helped me out immensely. She was amazing, has great taste and is very patient. Thank you so much!!!

  • Connie Albers

I always find what I am looking for. Mac cosmetics has amazing staff who are helpful and so sweet! I get all my shoes here and again the staff are so helpful and attentive. Highly recommend shopping here.

  • Roger Kamel

I am not fond of the bay.Although its quality. The price are inflated,to cater the needs of the downtown workers, since it is death trap for workers, particular for those working in the skyscrapers of

  • Aaron Stanton

I had the battery of my watch replaced recently. The gentleman that assisted me provided polite and prompt service. Always impressed with the consistency of the customer service at this location.

  • Lorna Stephenson

Staff are good, but too many wigged out people selling, sleeping and taking up room! Security needs to clean up that place. No wonder other businesses have left that mall. Too many deralics!!

  • Jim Way

Had my watches sent off to get batteries. Very good customer service. I saw no customers not being attended to if they needed help. The associates not with customer we alert ready to help.

  • Scarlette C

Please put signs so people can navigate back to the mall or exits easily. Far too much time has been spent wandering around trying to get out to the plus 15 and it gets frustrating

  • Elvia G

So much to offer.. by far the best in the city. Has 6 floors each designed and decorated to display each department beautifully. The outside has such amazing architecture

  • Kevin C Leung

Great products and very helpful staff. They have a good range of homewares as well and other children's toys that my kid loved. Great sales during boxing day too!

  • Kevin Snaden

I've been seeing Hugh in Menswear for all my business attire for almost ten years now. Great service and product knowledge. Alterations were of good quality.

  • Shawn Walker

Today at 430pm met with sales staff for Mens wear. Janzen and David are very helpful with any questions. I will refer people to both Janzen and David.

  • Judy Amendt

Haven't been to the Hudson Bay for years. Love their shoe selection. Got a good pair of Skechers on sale then marked down at the counter. A surprise!
