On November 12, 2021, my father passed away unexpectedly. It was shocking and extremely difficult to grasp the concept that he was gone so it was nearly impossible to even think of planning his service. I'm Mexican and as much as my culture reveres death, we hardly ever discuss death much less plan for it. Therefore I found myself with the daunting job to not only find a funeral home to have his services but find one that would not cripple our finances. I visited eight different places. All of them were what I like to call "fake friendly". Their condolences were said more like a formality than a true feeling. They were all pretty with fancy furniture and coffee service. Some of them had even water bottles with their logos on them. It all seemed so cold to me. My father was a simple man. He didn't like fancy stuff and that kind of stuff would have made him roll his eyes. I could literally hear him say " They should charge less money to grieving people instead of using fancy labels" but by funeral home #7 I was pretty much sure there was no other option but to go for that kind of stuff even if it didn't fit who he was. Another thing that kind of annoyed me was that almost all of the places did not allow food/drinks. I assume to avoid their pristine floors from being tarnished by a couple of crumbs or coffee drops. This was an issue for me since in our culture, food and drinks are a huge part of every event, even during funerals. I wanted his wake to be as close as possible to our way of life. Then I walked into Hughes Family Tribute Center and things were immediately different. I was greeted by a man who teased me goodheartedly about me trying to enter through the wrong door. His smiling attitude made me smile since my Dad died. Right there, I felt like a weight came off me. It may sound silly but the fact that he wasn't acting like I was going to break and handling me with gloves by using fake condolences gave me a good feeling. I was thankful for that moment of levity during such a dark, daunting, task. Then, I met Stephanie and she literally blew my mind when the first thing she asked wasn't " what kind of funeral do you want? or attempted to start spewing a rehearsed sale pitch. The first thing she asked was "Tell me about your Dad. What was he like?" and she patiently listened as I described him. I think I spent over an hour talking to her and out of that time we probably discussed money for about 10 minutes maximum. She never gave me the rehearsed sales pitch, instead, she listened to MY needs and wants and went over every little thing she could to make sure they were met. I never heard "That's gonna cost extra". Not once. She pulled brochures and things to give me ideas on what I couldo do since I had never planned a funeral. She guided me, consoled me, cheered me up, and basically held my hand while I had to plan one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. No request was denied. Her response when I asked about food was "Of course! That is why we have a cleaning crew." Not a hint of irony or hesitation. She meant it. All the staff was super helpful. They were kind and respectful but most importantly sincere. The place is GORGEOUS and HUGE. It had lots of light which is not exactly common in funeral places. The light gives it such a peaceful atmosphere. All the tables they prepared to celebrate the life of my dad were on point. Almost as if they knew him. He would have been thrilled with all the beautiful stuff they printed out for him and I know he is somewhere in heaven bragging about the cowboys' tickets printed with his picture. Every detail was looked after and I will forever be thankful for everything they did for my family. So, if you ever find yourself in the unfortunate need to plan a funeral please do yourself a favor and visit this place first. I guarantee you no other place you visit would meet their standard of excellence and most importantly, kindness, compassion and grace.

My step-father Frank T Mosqueda's ceremony and burial were manged by the Hughes Family Tribute Center. You can see his tribute on their web page. I read all of the reviews on Google. I wanted to take our experience and compare it to what others experienced. Going through the death of a loved one is a trying time for anyone. We all want every detail to be perfect. With that in mind I was being vigilant and alert through the process as my mother was devastated and not really able to sit and work through some of the details. From our very fist meeting Stephanie was courteous and professional. I noticed from the fist visit she was always taking notes during our discussions. At first I did not perceive how the information she gathered would be used. Between Stephanie and Jason (the pastor we used for the life celebration) I found every detail of the jokes and stories we all relayed were used to build a beautiful tribute to Frank's life. When we walked in to the church the evening of the viewing I understood what all of those notes and questions were for. No detail or small truth/fact went unnoticed. Jason who helped lead the celebration was amazing. He has a solid gift for taking a large extended/blended family and pulling us together to openly share our verbal memories and thoughts about Frank. This life celebration is the best way I have ever seen to truly pay tribute to the memories and life of a loved one. You would have to experience it to understand how wonderful this experience has been. We had special requests and speakers and singers. Everything was coordinated and orderly. We even had a military tribute for our veteran. Stephanie manged it all and took a large family that had many requests and voices/opinions in stride. I have nothing to gain from this review except a sincere hope someone reads this and the word about what the Hughes Family Center is doing gets out. They have altered my perception of what a funeral is. One last comment. Yes - the center is under construction as I write this in late 2019, and can use some new carpet/paint etc. I see the overall arching goal for the center, and none of the window dressing made an impact on the ceremony, or how things went. We will be using them for future life celebrations.

Thanks for making our father's services the most wonderful Celebration of Life! Dad passed at 92 years old, and had a long and wonderful life. We met with Ryan Hughes and Kristine Hughes to make the arrangements, and they were so compassionate and really cared about making it an event to celebrate those 92 years. They offered brilliant ideas and suggestions and the results were amazing! In the lobby, there were various tables set up with momentos and photos representing different aspects of dad's life including his military service, his family, vacations, sports he enjoyed, and his love of cars, especially his favorite Datsun/Nissan Z Cars! The Hughes family even brought his favorite car INSIDE the chapel with dad! Thank you DeWayne Hughes and Stephanie Hughes! It fit through the doors with only an inch to spare. This family really goes above and beyond to help families! After the service, we used the reception area for lunch catered by El Fenix, which was dad's favorite. We then headed to the DFW national cemetery, where the Hughes family had arranged for motorcycle escorts, a procession of Z Cars, and full military honors, including the Honor Guard, military staff to fold and present the flag, a gun salute, and flags everywhere! No detail was overlooked! Dad would be so pleased! All of their meticulous and professional planning made a difficult time so much easier on us. We can not thank them enough for making it the most beautiful and perfect tribute to dad!

Poor customer service. When I complained about the lack of communication and poor customer service, Stephanie Hughes had the nerve to call me names. I can not believe the lack of compassion exhibited by the owners of this facility. They failed to call to set up a viewing for days. They do not return calls for days or weeks. They obtained a permit to cremate my mother with inaccurate information and age. They charged for death certificates that they forgot to order and have taken 3 extra weeks to correct and file for a death certificate. Strongly recommend against using this facility. In response to your reply: The Justice of the Peace and the county both had the correct birth date and age on ALL of their documentation. The name you called me was abusive, simply for asking questions about why your facility had the incorrect birth date and why no one called me to inform me that my mother's death certificate was available. You literally told me that my mother's death certificates were picked up but did not know by who, or maybe it was not ordered. You also abruptly hung on me, called a private meeting with Ryan, and later returned my phone call, apologizing for giving me inaccurate information after locating the missing death certificates. That is not only rude and uncalled for but irresponsible and unprofessional as a business owner.

Wow!! This was the most shocking and disappointing experience I’ve ever had at a funeral. To begin, there were no notices directing anyone to the right room. The reception desk was not attended. Our loved one wasn’t already set up in the viewing room. We had to watch as she was wheeled through the lobby crowded with people with her bare feet showing. Even though clothes were provided the day before, she wasn’t dressed in them, in fact she wasn’t dressed at all and her face did not have any makeup on it. There was a service going on in the room next door that was so loud with singing and chanting that our pastor couldn’t be heard when he was speaking. In addition, the personnel at the center couldn’t operate the A/V equipment in our room so our slide show with music could not be played. Last but not least, there was someone stuck in the bathroom down the hall from our room and they were banging on the bathroom door so loud the entire time during our service that again our pastor couldn’t be heard and the disruption overshadowed our service. To top all that off, although the staff were very nice they were dressed extremely casual and unprofessionally. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I'm really sad I had to use their services, but they were amazing in every way. From the moment we walked it, it didn't feel like a "stuffy" funeral home. Ryan met with us and really wanted to know about my husband, what he liked, and what kind of man he was. Ryan told us about a victims fund to pay for the funeral, so we weren't out any money up front. My husband was only 32, so we wanted a happy life celebration as opposed to a formal funeral. A few days before the celebration of life, they allowed me to see my husband before they cremated him. Stephanie made sure he looked his best and let us have all the time we needed. I felt very comforted that they could cremate on site and my loved one didn't have to be shipped somewhere. The celebration of life was amazing. They created posters, canvas photos, cards, and even a puzzle for my son that were all personalized. They brought out a tool belt and many jerseys and really brought my husband's memory to life. They allowed us to have food and drinks and we stayed almost an hour past closing, but they didn't bat an eye. They were truly amazing in every sense of the word. I cannot thank them enough for all they did!

I want to thank Stephanie and Ryan and the entire team for all their help and support. The service was amazing, Stephanie and her team made everything easy and simple for me and my brother on making the furnal arrangements for our father and the celebration of life ‍ My family and I are very grateful with everything that they allowed us to do such as the live music and all the instruments inside the funeral home on the service day and after the service day, allowing us to provide my father a goodbye driveway “parade” and visit home one last time “drive by” this was a Mexican style goodbye and I know my dad was very happy that we celebrated the way we did. My father services and funeral was all over social media and everything was just PERFECT ‍ Thank you!! Also big shout out to the driver who was leading us on our drive by, not to be rude but he was the bald man, thank you for your help and support! If I could give this funeral home a higher rate I would Everything was just perfect, I am happy that now my father is resting in peace Thank you !

Stefanie was the first person I spoke to when my father passed away. She spoke to me and I felt true compassion and empathy right away. I brought my mother and immediately she too confirmed and felt at ease at this tribute location. Funerals are very painful and planning one for a loved one was never something I imagined. Stefanie and Veronica made us feel cared for and comfortable in an inconsolable time of our lives. I truly believe they were a God send. I appreciate them treating us with so much care and respect. I believe my father was cared in such a manner as well and that brings me such peace. It’s incredible that a place like this exists and I’m grateful they both Stefanie and Veronica chose this as a profession. My family and I are and will always be thankful that they handled my fathers ceremony and homage with such grace and importance. I loved that it showed his accomplishments and his true identity. To both Stefanie and Veronica, thank you again for providing us with the support and guidance we needed. Thank you because you made this process less painful and easier to grasp. -erica

We recently lost my baby nephews and it’s been the worst experience for my family. When we came we talked to the owners , they seemed extremely friendly and caring. They gave us some quotas of the costs of the funerals. I was the one running around preparing things for my sister. Every time we came through to check on things they kept adding more money to the final cost. Every single time. We didn’t say anything at the moment since it was the day of the funeral. What else could we do. They had told us that we could decorate the babies grave site however we wanted. THATS NOT THE CASE. They throw away ANY of the decorations you place, they MOWE OVER THEIR FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS AND THEIR DECORATIONS. Who does that?! When we complained, they told us we couldn’t decorate their grave. WHY THE HELL NOT?! We BOUGHT THE CHUNK LAND. Moral of the story they only care about getting paid, they don’t care about your loss. P.S. The brother of the owner PEDRO is such a creep, he kept “hugging” us for comfort. But No the creep tried to feel up on you. That’s just disgusting. I would go else where.

My name is Lynn Lewis and let me tell you, they are WONDERFUL! Our son passed away at age 3 months in September and we were homeless living in a hotel room. We had no money to take care of Xavier and I, in desperation, contacted Stephanie. The same day, after my baby boy being in the morgue for 3 weeks, they went to get him and performed a service free of charge. I'm crying now as I type this. They laid my son in a bassinet and bought him the cutest outfit. He was so beautiful. It cost us nothing. No parent should ever bury a child but we have. The love, prayers and love from them was remarkable. They handled my son with dignity and grace and gave us time to be with Xavier alone. They are a God send. Truly professional, caring and beautiful people. This is a difficult time, but they made saying goodbye to our baby boy possible. We are deeply indebted to them Rest in Heaven Xavier. Mommy and Daddy love you.

The Hughes family were amazing for both my father's service in 2016 and my mother's service this past Jan. 2018. Stephanie paid incredible attention to detail and helped me through the process quickly. (They were recommended to me by the Casket store on Central Expy. which is also wonderful and well priced). Duane, Ryan and Kristine were all involved and so helpful as well. My family is so grateful that we were placed in such great hands with the Hughes family. They made a very difficult and sad time so much easier. They are well connected with the policies and procedures at DFW Nat'l. Cemetery and many of the churches in Dallas which was a great help! The florist they recommended did a beautiful job for both funerals-Martha and her husband at Event Stems. Hughes FTC is planning a large remodel so I am sure the facility will be beautiful. Thank you Hughes family for all your care and concern!

This was the third passing of immediate family in 18mos. Hughes Family Tribute Center walked me through all three processes. My father was first, my mother second, and the last one was my twin brother. That one hit me the hardest because it was a surprise passing. We did not have a public ceremony, but as an unexpected blessing, Stephanie drove the body to the cemetery where she stood with me as he was lowered into the ground. Then she said a most appropriate prayer. Her prayer held many details in it which showed me she took an interest in me at this time by paying attention to our family situation. This compassion she showed my definitely helped me get through the situation. I had no immediate family standing with me, however, at this time, she truly walked in the shoes as "my family" Thank you Stephanie.

  • Leticia Garcia

Stephanie Hughes was a wonderful help!! When my father passed away and after calling 4 different funeral homes, Stephanie was the only one to answer in the middle of the night. She allowed us to actually relax in the sense that we did not have to worry about how my dad would be treated after leaving the hospital. They truly believe in making it a family tribute center. My family and I have never been more impressed by the attention to detail and the personalization they put into honoring my dad. The team and Stephanie was a God send!! No one wants to plan such arrangements but Stephanie made it very easy and kept in contact with us throughout the whole time.

My grandmother passed away in May 2021, Hughes family tribute center was definitely the obvious choice. It was the most outstanding service and celebration of life,I’ve ever been to. They truly understand the meaning of celebration of life, the staff were top tier, the details, the decoration were magical. What was suppose to be a really tough day, turned into an event that truly embraced my grandmother in the most wonderful light. Thank you again for your service and compassion. In a time of sadness, you really helped us see the light. And not to say this was the most affordable service compared to others. I definitely recommend 10/10;

  • Tammy Arellano

I don't even know where to begin with my review. Unfortunately I had to have two funerals in the past three years. My family had to say goodbye to my husband and son. Stephanie is one kind she sits down with you and ask questions about your loved one and family and she creates a beautiful celebration of life and funeral for you and your loved ones. With so many details when you walk into the funeral home you would of thought she knew the family personally. Stephanie her family and her staff are compassionate, caring and so helpful. I could on and on but I think you get the just of what I am trying to say. Thank Hughes Funeral Home.

  • Aida Hernandez

This place is horrible. First they put the body in the wrong casket. Second they didn’t have the memory cards ready or the tribute his family jad for him. Third, they couldn’t figure out how to play the video the family prepared even though it was in the format they asked for. Fourth, they lowered the body into the ground before the family had a chance to place roses on the coffin. Ryan was the person calling the shots and he should not be allowed to do so without supervision. Families are already dealing with the loss of their loved ones. His in attention to detail made things worse. Save yourselves the grief. Go elsewhere!!!

  • Patricia Koether

My Daughter Jennifers book didn't have the info that I had given them too put in it. They put a picture of Jenny when she was around 12 years old. She,was 28 yrs when she passed. I was so upset that they didn't even remind me too sign the book. The loss of a loved one is very hard. They should have been more helpful. But, I can say Jenny looked beautiful. The lady that did her makeup and dressed her did a wonderful job. I,buried my Son Juan 15 yrs ago at the same cemetery and I had a wonderful experience than. Pete the grounds keeper was terrific both times. A shot out too him.

I would like to address something here, and will also be visiting the people in charge of this cemetery in person.I would like to ask why is it that you all build a brand new building in order to get more revenue of course but...What about the upkeep of the cemetery? Why is it full of trash and debree?! Why is there no places to get water to water the plants ad there is big mountains oe dirt all over the cemetery? When are you all going to fix that? Why are the stones going into the ground? We had to go and fix the stones ourselves!

  • Lauren Bellomy

My family was thoroughly blessed by the team at Hughes Family Tribute Center from their first meeting with Kate to all the details handled by Stephanie and her team day of. They had such a beautiful display to celebrate my uncle’s life and everyone who came commented on how wonderful everything looked and represented my uncle so well. We are forever grateful for the time, care, dedication and support we received from this team. What a blessing it was to have them during such a hard time for my family.

  • Thomas

My siblings and I unanimously agree that The Hughes Family Tribute Center provided outstanding service; truly above and beyond. They gently guided my family from the beginning with the first phone call with Stephanie to the final graveside prayers with the clergy they arranged on our behalf. It is no exaggeration to say that without their compassion, professionalism and expertise we would not have been able to memorialize our mother so wonderfully. They really do care.

  • Todd Sutherland

Stephanie and her team were excellent to help us through this difficult time. "Going up and above" is an understatement. We learned a valuable lesson you don't have to choose the closest funeral home to your house you can choose the one you feel the most comfortable working with. Stephanie never put any sales pressure on us, she just showed us all the options and let us decide on our own. She treated us like we were her own family, what more could we ask for.

  • Jennifer Laguna

  • Joni Goode

We truly cannot say enough good things about Stephanie, Ryan and the staff. They were able to take a very sorrowful day and turn it into a celebration of the life of our son beyond what we could have imagined. They went above and beyond in taking care of all of the details and were so kind, informative and professional. We do not have the words to express how much we appreciate Hughes Family Tribute Center.

  • Renee Hayden

Thank you so much to everyone at the Hughes Family Tribute Center and especially Ryan and Kristine Hughes. Their creativity and attention to detail was incredible and made for an awesome Celebration of Life for my 92-year-old father. Dad made plans for his service but even he would have been impressed and pleased with how well everything was done and the result would have surpassed his expectations.

  • DaKeia Laster

The service was great the staff was great. They communicate, they explain, they have no problem answering questions. Everything was just so perfect for my baby. I’m really glad I found them. I wouldn’t of had it no other way. They made two blankets of pictures, they made canvases, we picked out a beautiful urn from their urn store. It was just so perfect.

  • JP Rodriguez

They made our lives simple with planning and help for my brother's celebration of life. They created a wonderful display for the chapel ceremony that was very representative of his life and love of music; totally unexpected. They are one of the last independent funeral homes, so their personal touch is very appreciated.

  • Lydia Palasota

In our time of deep sorrow Hughes Family was an amazing help. Their entire team was very helpful with every step we took. They went above and beyond with my Mom's WOW ceremony and created a room of memories that were comforting to see. We have mementos personal to her and us that we can keep for years to come.
