I booked in for a wet cut and blow dry with a half price offer I saw online. I had never used this salon before. I will never ever return to this salon again! The salon not only had a uncomfortable atmosphere but the reception staff seemed arrogant and unfriendly. The whole feeling in there was tense. I had Becky as my stylist who seemed nice but was tense and seemed under pressure. I asked her to give me a few layers as my hair is thick and is weighing down my face, i showed her a few images she said she would be happy to do this and began but then did flit in and out of the room in-between the cut and seemed on edge..I'm was confused as to what was going on. When she finished the cut she quickly left leaving another girl who seemed like an apprentice to blow dry my hair. This girl was more relaxed and also not so bothered about her customer service skills. She also added tht Becky had been also doing another clients colour whilst doing my hair although I had paid &asked for beckys time with me. When I saw the finished results on my hair it wasn't what I asked for and looked very dated so when becky returned I relayed my concerns and she said oh I havnt finished yet although earlier she said she had and she will just come back to check once the blow dry was done. I became distracted replying to a message on my phone and the next I knew becky had used thinning scissors over a 1/3 of my hair from root to tip! I shrieked and said I have curly hair don't do tht and she reassured my it will be fine and to trust her..but tbh her mind was elsewhere and she seemed rushed & pressured. Unfortunately as she had gone so far I had to let her continue and she did seem strained so I didn't want to stress her more so told myself to trust the process..Mistake!!!! At the end I looked at my hair and it looked shredded & disheveled, nothing like the images I had shown! She said she had to go if that was ok,she knew she had messed my hair up, I gave a deflated yes and she left. Once I came to the till the obnoxious reception staff member asked if it was a card or cash payment to which I replied card. She gave me the machine to tap hoping I wouldn't see what she was charging me which was pre agreed that morning when I booked for £35 for a cut and blow dry. Without informing me or asking me to check the amount or any reference to an change in price she tried to charge me £85!! I looked closely at the machine and realised and said there must be a mistake I should be charged £35 after the discount to which she replied in a rude and obnoxious manner "that was for one hour booking, you have been here longer"....Now I was fuming but responded politely and said that firstly you should have informed me you were charging me more, secondly your staff member was working on two people in one time on different floors in the building and ontop of this your saying that because you didn't get the job done in a limited time slot tht I was unaware that I had booked that you can automatcally charge me more than doube!!??? Plus you should have explained when booking that £35 is only for the first hour if we get your hair cut by then!!" The member of staff just turned round and amended the amount to £35 and flipantly said "ok then" and that was it!!! No apology no nothing and I just turned round and walked out no sure how all that just happened. I was angry upset and had gone in with a long mane of thick hair that had taking alot of tlc to grow and was now left with a shredded dishevelled mop. The most uneasy hairdressers Iv ever been to where non of the staff smiled at me and I went there because I thought they would be non judgemental of my face veil considering they have a private hijab friendly room! Now reading other "real" reviews I realised that my sentiments and experiences there were not isolated one and others have experience similar things in one way or the other. Some one also expressed that there was a quick staff turnover which deals not surprise me considering the atmosphere in there...

Erm not sure where to start. I wish I spoke before I left the salon but erm personally I don’t think my stylist knew what to do with my hair, I thought I’d try somewhere else as my hairdresser is off for 6 months but when I showed this stylist what I wanted (a few inches of with some long layers) she didn’t really seem like she understood what I wanted or tried to understand. She might’ve not felt confident to cut my long curly hair but as a hairdresser I think ALL hairdressers should know how to deal with all types of hair. She explained layers ( face framing) will leave a chunk of my curly hair when in its natrual state as if I don’t know what im saying, I’ve had this before with no issue. My hair is actually quite thick now and when I got it done last time it was actually thinner and the hairdresser I went to before done it well. It’s not really rocket science for curly hair to have all cuts desired, yes it’ll looks different when it’s curly but it still looks nice. Curly hair isn’t restricted to just have one layer, generally that is really upsetting when you go to hair dressers and they make a fuss about how it’d look in its natural state. I love my curly and straight hair sometimes I want blunt cuts other times I want to try layers and that’s totally fine. But if you feel like you don’t know how to do it well, say that. I wasn’t happy either with my “face framing cut” Megan basically cut a fringe for me. In the process of telling her I want it longer than my nose in it’s natural state she maybe thought I meant by my nose but if she took the time to listen and look properly at the pictures I wanted to show she probably would’ve maybe understood. Either way I was left with what’s not gonna look so odd in it’s natural state, like a curly fringe and the rest of the curls long (with no layers) just awful. I’m sorry she seemed nice, just wish she listened better. Also I came in the room and it was Smokey as hell she asked if I wanted water which I said sure please my throat was choking with the fumes….she Brant nothing. So strange. When I left I was so thirsty and confused like I’m sure she was going to bring me water. Strange. Strange. Atleast the hair treatment was nice. But overall, expensive as f*ck for a mediocre experience. Oh yeah and I said big bouncy blow out, she couldn’t do that and I said just straighten it. But in the end I went home and the roots were still not even straight just overall, disappointing.

Michaela was very professional and considerate. The haircut was done well at a good price and she gave good advice on how to take care of my hair. Conversation was interesting. I since had a manicure with Nadia which was done well. She was friendly and my hands felt smooth afterwards. She didn’t ask if I wanted a makeup mark removed from my hands. Since the manicure I have noticed some slight chips in my nails (it’s only been four days). I did ask about wearing washing up gloves to clean and they said gel should be fine. This is something to bear in mind when comparing with other salons. Nadia has since run to re-arrange the appointment for another date. I was going to go this month but decided I don’t have the time. I’ve now re-arranged for November and the salon were very understanding of my exemption from wearing a mask. Since then the salon have rang saying I must have the free manicure done immediately. I am not interested in this as getting my nails right is taking too much time. I didn’t anticipate I would enjoy the manicure or it would last due to my experience last time. The issue I had with my nails is documented in a photo attached to my review.

Absolute waste of time . Had a whole conversation on the phone , spoke about arrangements of when to drop hair off , how I want it highlighted etc . then booked online as agreed . To then be called back after I booked and paid deposit to be told actually I don’t know if I feel comfortable doing it . As per management states it’s her discretion. Why go through everything with me via phone and make me pay for the appointment etc to then inconvenience me . How unprofessional ! How are you a hairdresser that is not confident about your skill set to dye hair extensions. It says alot . If you’re hesitant as a hairdresser to dye human hair extensions it’s shows you’re not confident about your craft ! But yet your a city centre establishment who should be multi talented and staying relevant I’m so infuriated

I've been a client at Hush for about 15 years! Staff are always welcoming and take time to make sure your visit is a relaxing pleasure. During the years I've been visiting the salon I've changed my hair style many times and I'm always confident that the advice I receive about what would suit me is honest and true. During the last 15 years I've received many compliments about my hair style from friends and colleagues. I'm very fussy about how my hair looks and feels and I've never been disappointed when leaving the salon or in the weeks between cuts. All staff are very experienced and try hard to please clients whatever the age group. The salon itself is very modern and has a convenient location in Brindley Place surrounded by bars and restaurants.

I was looking for privacy lounges and then I found it here. I was so comfortable, I had very good experience with Natalie. She was so kind and polite. She discussed all the options for my hair and then well explained my concerns and helped me in choosing the treatment option. Usually my hair gets plucked in straightener and breaks down but she was so well trained that whole process went very smooth and I am really impressed by the technique and expertise. Hope so it will work for my hair and frizz won’t come again. Thank you so much Natalie for being so nice and kind sorry I forget to ask the other girl name but she was also very nice. Chris is a master of his trade! I came to Hush for a colour correction due to another salon turning my hair yellow ish orange!! I did my research and Hush seemed like a good place to fix my hair. The receptionist recommended Chris as he is a colour specialist. I came to the salon very nervous due to my last hairdresser messing up the colour. Chris was absolutely amazing, he made me feel so calm and relaxed during the whole process. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable. The colour correction Chris did for me was outstanding, he returned my hair back to its base colour and added the sun kissed tones I desired. The blow dry was also excellent. Chris you have made me feel amazing, I can’t thank you enough! I will be back!!

The Hush is the prices. Offered privacy rooms for Hijab wearers, got there to find it's an additional £15. Hairstylist, as nice as she was, made me stand for ten minutes as she cut my hair to the right length. My feet hurt standing in one spot that long -especially since I'd walked there from New Street station specifically for privacy. Even if I paid bargain prices, I wouldn't expect that let alone for a £55 quid haircut (my hair is naturally straight and don't have much of it - easy to cut) Premises are dark and dank with a damp smell. Customer service was also below par or I would have been able to overlook the hardship and premises and seen it as a nice experience

This was my first time at Hush today and I had a great time with such a friendly and welcoming team. The salon has an amazing vibe. I had nanokeratin treatment done by lovely Lottie. Lottie is amazing and makes you feel so relaxed and at ease. I was explained about the entire procedure in detail and told about the products being used at every step. Lottie listened to me calmly, knew exactly what I wanted and advised me next steps to style my tough to handle hair to perfection. I have my next appointment booked and I am definitely not going anywhere now. I would recommend Hush and Lottie to all my friends! Thanks for the amazing service!!!

I've been coming to Hush since 2016 and, funnily enough, it was completely by accident as I thought I'd booked an appointment elsewhere. I'm *so* glad I ended up at Hush or I'd never have met the wonderful Chris! There's no one else I trust to colour my hair, he knows exactly what he's doing and talking about, what will suit you and is best for your features etc. My hair always feels amazing, it's never felt damaged after being coloured and has never been butchered with the scissors! The new salon is snazzy and customer service is great - everyone is super friendly and they make a great cup of tea ;) lol. Would 100% recommend :)

As an older Muslim woman looking for something fresh - I was very impressed with the service altogether. Kate my hair consultant was professional and very confident despite my curly unruly mop that was needing love…. I left the salon looking at least 20 years younger - from a quick cut, colour and blow dry… the privacy lounge has been upgraded to a larger area in the basement. Very thoughtful establishment for the cosmopolitan clientele in this lovey city ! Also when you register on the website - you get a discount voucher to use… this was a bit confusing as it stated 50% … but eventually ended up being 25%.

I had my hair coloured by both Demi and Katie on separate occasions close together and was very pleased with the final result. Katie did a brilliant job and all the staff were very understanding and ensured I left the salon pleased with the service. Highly recommend Katie for anyone looking to go from dark/orange to blonde. So pleased to have found a hair dresser I can trust and also a pleasure to talk to whilst the hair is being coloured. I also had a complimentary nail polish, can't remember the ladies name but she was also lovely! It's been a few weeks since the treatment and the colour has not faded at all.

She made sure to take the time to have a detailed consultation with me to understand what I wanted and then worked to achieve exactly that result! Lottie consistently does a fabulous job with my hair and it's always a pleasure to come back! She really listens to what I ask and advises me as to whether it's realistic. Very happy to have found such a good hairdresser and salon I know I can trust. The building itself is really lovely too and this contributes to the experience. Friends said the last haircut Lottie did for me was the best they've seen (it has grown out so well that it's meant I haven't had to go back in a while and I'm actually missing going back as it's always fun) and I've had a lot of haircuts in my time.

I have been coming here for nearly two years with Katie and she's truly amazing at her job. She knows exactly what my hair needs are and she has boosted my confidence with my natural hair type which I've not experienced at other hair salons. Katie is very down to earth and she definitely puts in 110% into ensuring I'm happy with my look. Also have to give Megan a shout-out who I've also had and she was also brilliant. This is my 3rd visit to Hush, and 1st in the new location. I booked my appointment with the lovely Sophia, who not only did a wonderful job during consultation and cut process but as well guided me through properly styling it (I still am a baby in the world of curly hair styling haha) I am also very pleased with the improvements done to the privacy lounge, from what used to be a single hair and washing station in a very small room back in the old location to a full on salon within a salon. The consideration taken to cater to hijabis is very heartwarming

I had a lovely experience at hush, I requested the private room and was booked in with Meg, I would recommend her to everyone, she really listened to me and what I needed, stepped in where I was unsure and helped every step of the way. Had hair color and cut 2 yrs back which was really good and the reason I came back for a haircut. Unfortunately dont remember the hairstylist name from 2 yrs back. This time the hairstylist Megan was disappointing. She did nothinglikewhat I wanted and instead of choppy, layers that i constantly stressed while she was cuttingmy hair, she made a blunt, mushroom cut withno layers. They were happy to invite me back for spoiling my hair only to come and be told that I will have to pay for the new cut. A wasted journey. Im never going back to them.

I’ve been to hush about 5 times now and each time I go I have a great experience. Because I’ve been a few times different stylist have worked on my hair and each time I love it. Sophie and Natalie have given me the best blow outs ever, I didn’t ever think my hair could look so good! Lottie was the first person who cut my hair at hush back in 2021 and till this day I am so thankful Lottie suggested a different hair cut from what I suggested because what I suggested was going to look silly now looking back. So I trust all of them with my hair

I walked into Hush and Lottie took my lego hair to an amazing funky style. I had an amazing pre consultation where I spoke about what I wanted, she amazingly interpreted my rambling into a fabulous hair cut. Can't recommend her enough. The salon itself is beautifully clean and modern, nothing like the usual city centre salons but in a good way. All of the staff I encountered were friendly and even the owner popped by for a chat and compliments on the hair. Will definitely be going back without a doubt and rebooking with Lottie.

Edit: I’ve been coming to hush for two years now! Becky is my colour expert and Lottie is my go-to for my haircut as I get a shorter mullet - they both are incredible and really listened to what I wanted and executed it perfectly! Been to Hush twice now and about to book in again as Becky does such a good job with the colour and cut of my hair! She listens carefully and makes suggestions that make sense with my vision for what I want. She's always super friendly and helpful too, definitely made me want to return.

I use to come to Hush over 5 years ago when they were based in their previous location, Katie did my hair then and was fabulous. I moved away and now back in Birmingham I was so excited to see Hush had a new salon and Katie was back. Having dark Asian hair naturally it’s not always easy to brighten my hair. I was made to feel comfortable with my hijab and given the time that I needed. As a Muslim woman, I did not request a private lounge however, Hush hair saw my hijab and automatically took me into a private lounge. This small gesture really made my day. I went to Hush especially because they have a private room for women who cover. I was very impressed with the staff. I had Katie for my balayage and cut and blow dry, she did an amazing job I felt 10 years younger when I left. She explained everything thoroughly and ensured I was comfortable asking if I needed drinks throughout my time. The private room was perfect for hijabi women, lovely and quiet and clean. Would definitely recommend and come back again.

I was a first time customer at Hush this morning and was very pleased with the whole experience. I had Lottie cut my hair and she made me feel very comfortable throughout. She checked in throughout the cut to make sure I was happy, and made sure to explain the products being used and gave me lots of advice for looking after my curly hair going forwards. The salon itself has a great vibe, and I've already booked in for my next appointment with Lottie!

My first time trying this place and would 100% recommend!! Meg was amazing! I had my hair wash,cut and styled She gave me advice on my hair and what she’d recommend in terms of treatment for it being damaged. They cater for Muslim women who wear a hijab and have a complete separate section for them known as “the private room” They also have halal manicures, pedicures etc. This salon will be my go-to for hair and beauty treatments

Always look forward to my visits for haircut from Chris who has been cutting my hair for over 4 years. Its the first time I’ve managed to find a hairdresser who always seems to get what I want done. I’ve never had a bad cut or colour . All the staff are great but a special mention to Lotti who’s awesome personality and chat is the icing on the cake of every visit.

I had Becky work on my hair today and was so pleased with her friendly and kind nature. She offered me a drink, hung up my belongings and did my wash, cut and blow dry exactly as I requested. I’ve been coming to see Nadia for laser hair removal for a few months now. I have laser treatment once a month and after four sessions I have seen a huge reduction in hair growth, Nadia is friendly and professional and made me feel completely at ease! Would definitely recommend Nadia and Hush!

I had my nails done twice by Nadia and they lasted almost a month. Nadia is very good at manicure , professional and efficient. The salon also is very clean which is very important comparing to other nails salons in the city centre. I would definitely recommend.
