I would go as far as to say that this is the best AUDI shop in the midwest. I have owned a A6, S4, TT Roadster, and now an A7 and Q5. My only wish is that I found this shop sooner to have avoided sub par service and super high costs at other shops over the years. I moved the the downtown area a few years ago and stumbled across this shop when on a run with my dogs. I had some work I needed to get done on our Q5 that I was putting off so I scheduled an apointment with Mike and took the car in for service. I was blown away with the level of service, prompt turnaround and quality of their work. Ohhh and the Cost! I always feel like I used to cringe when I get the final bill at other shops or dealerships in the past, but not with Import Masters. They are extremely reasonable and only work on Audi/VW so they absolutely know what they are doing. Mike and his team are the best in town hands down. They have a family feel and clearly are not in the business to try to get rich like other shops. I can tell that Mike and his guys just want to make an honest living and love Audi/VW. An example of this took place recently and is the reason for this review. I had some metal on metal sound on one of my brakes and called Mike for help. He had told me that he could resurface the rotor and that should help (which it did). The car was in and out really quickly and when I asked him what I owed him his resonse was, "don't worry about it. We took care of the issue and there is no charge. We know you'll be back again and appreciate your business". Name one shop in the world that is like that. I bet you cant. Look no further if you own an Audi/VW in the KC metro and are tired of the high prices of the dealerships.

We bought a used VW beetle for cheap. We knew it would require some maintenance, We just weren’t prepared to need it the very next day! It was leaking antifreeze! With it being a German/foreign car, we knew it would require someone who specialized in VW or at least imports in general. After calling the VW dealerships all around, it was gonna be WEEKS and we needed it fixed asap, as it will be a daily driver. After doing some research and finding import masters, they had great reviews, so I decided to give them a call. They said we could drop off the beetle and they would “work it in” even though I had made an appointment for the following week, we decided to drop it off (this was a Monday) They worked it in and had a detailed list of recommended repairs texted to me by Wednesday. I was shocked! They were VERY thorough and found things we would have never noticed! We decided to only approve the major repairs that we would not have been able to do ourselves. They did not pressure us into anything else and they were very honest. We truly respect and appreciate that! They installed a new water pump, replaced the E-brake cables, and the headlight connection/wiring, and even gave us a referral to the place that was able to fix our exhaust! We had our car back by Thursday, in the muffler shop on Friday, and went back Friday afternoon in hopes of getting our safety inspection but they were closed. I am truly satisfied with this place. A little pricey, but at least it was done and done right! We will be coming back, and since all of our cars are foreign, this might just all around be our new shop! Thank you import masters!

Importmasters Inc. is the place to go for any of your car troubles or questions. I was first referred to this location by my insurance company because it was the closest place to where I lived, and it was on their star rated list of mechanics. I had been traveling and hit a coyote which tore up my bumper and a few things inside. Turns out this is not a body shop, but they took apart the bumper looked at what was damaged, and gave me an estimate and a very detailed list of what needed to be fixed for the next shop. When I took it to the body shop they had clear directions to get my car looking brand new. After a few days, Importmasters gave me a call and asked how my car was doing and they were very professional and friendly. I have never received such amiability from a mechanic I just met, none the less someone who just looked at my vehicle and did no work on it. It's been a few months now and I’ve taken my car to Importmasters a handful of times for oil changes and maintenance repairs, and each time have had peace of mind knowing they will get the job done. They check in every once in a while to see how my car is doing and letting me know that I can reach out to them for anything. I even asked them about a question over my sister's car, and they texted me a few things it could be and what to do! If you are looking for a mechanic, trust me start here first.

Being a single woman having to deal with repair shops is frustrating, because a lot of time they try and take advantage of you. My 2014 Kia Soul wasn’t running right, I didn’t know what it was so 1st I took it to Shawnee Mission Kia to have it looked at. They told me it was the front wheel bearing/hub assembly and it’s going to cost over $1000 to fix, when I asked if they were sure that was the issue, the response was, “ I understand if you would like to get a 2nd open” so I did. I was told by a mechanic back home (OK) to find an import shop. So I googled import shops in my area and found Importmasters had really good reviews. I took my care in on Tuesday afternoon, explained what it was doing. Larry called me today, explained to me what the issue was in terms I could understand, which it had nothing to do with the wheel bearing hub assembly, and fixed my car with in hours of giving him the ok a very reasonable and affordable price. He also informed me of what other services I needed to get done. He was very helpful and courteous and a very honest guy. I am blessed to have found this Shop and will be going to them anytime my car needs serviced. Thank you Larry for your service and your honesty!

I have taken my Passat here several times and have always received good service and a fair price. The owner will even discuss DIY repairs if you want to make some of the repairs yourself. I don't mind doing most things that do not require special tools or are beyond my ability, and he is cool with that as a fellow enthusiast. I gave only 4 stars because I have not been there too often, and don't feel I can warrant this rating yet, but I am taking my car back this week and will update then. Definitely recommend!! Changed to 5-stars as this is the only place I take my VW for service and they have always done it right the first time for a fair price. Thanks guys. Update: I have been here a few times since my initial review and I think they rate a 5. Mike is very straight-forward and honest about all repairs, and I don't easily trust car repair people.

Had car on warranty didn't fix any issue. NONE! To thus day my car us having the same issues since 1st coming to this place of business. I Literally took it recently, and now my climate control isn't working...don't they know winter is coming? The issue on my vehicle, which I told then the issue and they charged me for a diagnostic...When questioned about it I was told, "We had to diagnose to find the cause of the coolant leak. But they didn't have to do that cuz I was able to find the leak which is how I knew there was 1,was by pouring coolant and seeing where it was coming from, could have used color dye... so why is my climate control now not working ? It was working when I brought it in, it should still be working...So please don't use this place.

Just got our Jetta TDI back from Importmasters today. Gotta give these guys props – they're the go-to in town for fixing up European diesel cars. The car drives like a dream now, and they only did what really needed fixing. They gave us a list of things that could be done to make it even better. Even though I couldn't pick up the car right after it was fixed, the person in charge was cool about it. No pressure tactics like "pay up now or we'll auction your car," which is so common in other places. These folks are pros not just with cars but also in how they run their business. I'd totally take my Jetta back to them if I run into more issues, but fingers crossed it stays trouble-free for the next 100k miles. Big thanks to Importmasters!

First time; Setup an appointment online, there was a two week pre-notice, selected 12pm, but got 9am slot. ( Must be filling slots in first come first serve). (You could probably get in sooner if you call). First impression, wasn't sure where the office was, although the building was small enough to find it in short order. (West facing, south of the garage bays). Staff was really friendly, there wasn't a real "waiting room", just a small office, off to the side. There is a nice local restaurant two blocks away. Oil change took about an hour. I did end up sitting in the office for a few minutes after going to the restaurant. All in all I'm happy with their work, low-key environment, and helpful staff.

Was told to bring the car in and it’s been sitting there for almost a week. I call in and find out they haven’t even looked at it. Not a call or an update from the shop. I was told by the mechanic to bring it in as he had time and now i am forced to start looking for another mechanic. Would not recommend. Update: Upon requesting my key and and returning to pick up the car I now see that 3 of my tires are flat. Magically, 3 out of 4 brand new tires are flat. Not sure if they realized I’ve been checking on the car every day but car was initially dropped off with a fuse issue. Now in the process of waiting for the police to file a report. I never expected in a million years to be treated this way.

Great, honest mechanic. I've brought my 2015 Audi S5 in for routine maintenance and custom work (full exhaust). The pricing and work are both excellent. Recently, the dealership had told me my brakes were less than 20%, so 6 months later I brought my car here to have them changed. I had an appointment, an agreed upon price, and dropped my car off. They (Import Masters) called me to tell me that my brakes were fine (50%) and to not do anything unless I was experiencing issues, which I was not. They could have performed the maintenance and made money, but instead were honest with me. I wouldn't have had a clue! Hard to find honest mechanics...this is one you want to do business with.

I first had my car diagnosed by another reputable car repair co..(not diagnosed correctly)..thought I would get another opinion from IM. Glad I did! I’m an older woman and very leary about car mechanics.(bad experiences)..Larry was very professional ,courteous and trustworthy ..clearly explained what was wrong ...fixed the problems and advised me on how to maintain my car(I have pretty good instincts on reading people and had a good comfortable feeling talking to Larry)He even contacted me to make sure my car was doing ok! It's hard moving halfway across the country to a strange place without any idea of who's going to take care of your dearly beloved 2001 New Beetle diesel, but those worries are gone now. Importmaster's Inc (Larry et. al.) are my new go-to guys. I had a small fuel leak, which they fixed and then fixed another problem that I didn't even know I had! The bug had started to be a little hard to start, but since it always started after a couple of tries I didn't really see it as a problem. Larry did--it just wasn't right. So, after calling me he kept it another day and fixed it! These guys are VW/Audi gurus, great to talk to, and I'll be going to them any time my Beetle needs care.

I love import masters service! The owner Larry’s team of experts have regularly service my latest two A-6 and A-8 with the finest and most cost affordable and especially timeless. Recently on 12/24/19 while waiting at the independent mall for my shopping, my pulley and belts stopped running. I’m thinking Not Good Timing Right! Long story short, car was towed to Import Masters on 27th and Cherry, where the diagnosis and Repair’s happened the next business day! My wife Lakiesha and I are so thankful and grateful that Import Masters was able to get it done very cost effectively!

Importmasters is one of the best automotive shops I have been to. Brian, Larry, and Michael have excellent customer service, quality of work, and are the exact people you want to be caring for your vehicle. The service by Brian went above and beyond for my VW. It was booked for an oil change, but Brian took quality time to review the rest of the vehicle and I’m highly satisfied by the work. I will be coming back definitely and I would recommend Importmasters for all people who care about their vehicle getting the best service.

Larry communicates issues clearly and is always willing to explain further. I had to replace coils and spark plugs for the second time in a year. Larry found a problem that the previous garage missed, and that is why the spark plugs and coils had to be replaced again. The price was similar to the previous fix. However, I feel much more confident in Importmasters because they found contributing factors, making the repairs a long-term resolution. Even better, the work was done very quickly! I'll definitely be taking my car back!

I had an ignition problem with my Audi and Importmasters was able to fix it with no issues. These guys know Audis and VWs inside and out and I highly recommend them. Amy at the check-in counter was very friendly and super helpful in providing an estimate and scheduling the repair. If you drive a VW or Audi you should make this your go-to place for repairs. I drive from Lawrence to get work done here because even though the Audi dealership is closer the level of service and fair pricing from Importmasters can’t be beat.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE USING A DEALER: My daughter drives a Passat and was told by a dealer that she needed brakes (pads) and new tires. Her car was due for an oil change so we took it to Import Masters. End result, brakes are fine and the tires are good to go. So, one oil change and tire rotation later, my daughter and I are extremely grateful that there are shops that still believe in being honest, fair and personable. Any time our VW’s need service, we will end up at Import Masters.

Passing through on a cross country trip, my 2012 Touareg TDI’s prop shaft decided to yeet itself out of the rear diff. Didn’t know what happened, thought the transmission had died. Had it towed to Importmasters, was back on the road in <3.5 business hours (dropped off after close Friday, received invoice Monday at 11:30am. Great customer service, fast turnaround. Owner texted me a couple days later to make sure it was still good. 10/10 would do business again, but hope I don’t have to.

Mike clearly knows his stuff. I have an older low-mileage A8, not incredibly complicated, but it needs care from someone who won't mess it up then shrug (hint: I am talking about a place a lot of busy people take their Audis, no names, but the place I am thinking about rhymes with 'stealer'). Versus here, I asked Mike if there were other services I should do while he had it, and he was honest! Told me to follow the maintenance schedule and I should be good to go.

I took 2 cars in the first one is a 08 vw and it needed a diagnosis plus oil change, coolant flush, brake flush, and transmission service. Second car was a 2014 jetta with a oil change and flat tire repair and a diagnosis as well. Over all they exceeded my expectations when doing the diagnosis. Their staff is very knowledgeable about Volkswagen's and they are professional with a relaxed atmosphere. I will now only use Importmasters while working on any of my vws

At my last oil change the quick lube folks said I was getting close to needing new brakes. They did squeak occasionally so I took them to Importmasters because they specialize in Volkswagens and they are a block from where I work. I expected the worst, but Mike called and said my brakes still had half their life and there was no need to spend my money on new brakes. Can't beat that. When work needs to be done, you can bet where I will be going. Thanks Mike.

These guys are great! After reading good reviews I recently took my new to me A8 in for service and inspection. Larry was able squeeze me in between appointments to accommodate me being in town for just a short while. Took care of me in a timely manner and even gave me some maintenance advice on things I could tackle myself. Overall pleased with service and experience. I will definitely make the trip from out of town for future service needs and repairs.

My engine light came one yesterday, and I got the code check—it’s likely to be an expensive repair, so I called over here to see if I could save money over the dealership. After asking the issue, my make and model he told me that he was pretty sure it was covered under a warranty extension and sent me told me to take it to the dealership. He was right and it will be covered. I definitely will be coming here for future repairs!

Larry and his team are highly knowledgeable, honest about their work, do a great job, and does a follow up to ensure complete satisfaction with the job done. They saved my 248k miles Prius from its death bed at an affordable price. Car runs like new now. I rarely recommend any business anymore, but Larry and his crew are exceptional. i have a b8.5 Audi S4. I've been getting all my work done here since i first got it. I have to say it's been the best experience i've ever had with an auto shop. They do amazing quality work and a great price. They are prompt, friendly, and honest. What i thought would be a big issue with my breaks they realized was only a broken wire, a $50 dollar fix. I cannot recommend enough. I'll be betting all my work done here.

When I bought an older Audi, I knew that I was also going to need a good shop; they're generally very good cars, but not the simplest to work on. Importmasters came recommended by a couple of different people who've long had german car afflictions, so I took their advice and couldn't be happier. The work was done promptly and exactly as they said it would be. These are people that love cars, let them love on yours.

I had come off a horrible experience with a used car dealer that hid severe issues with the Audi I purchased and Larry helped identify the shenanigans they were pulling. We purchased a 2013 Mercedes Benz from Autobahn in Kansas City, Mo and the check engine light came on, so Alex at Autobahn recommended we schedule an appointment at ImportMasters. We were able to get an appointment within a week and our Mercedes was fixed within a day. They diagnosed the problem to be the intake manifold seals were worn, so they were replaced and it is running great. Thank you so much!

Found this place not far from my house. Friendly people and great service. Only had oil change and tire rotation done. They did my state inspection when I got my car and didn't know where to go. Called in about my 2013 BMW X1 getting a valve cover changed. Not only did they quote me half the price of BMW but Larry gave me a discount on top of that. Turn around was nice and quick. Had me back in my car 2 days later. If you have an foreign car that you want quality work done on without paying those dealer prices, I suggest you go to import masters.

This was my first time using this shop for my newly accuired 2003 Audi TT. I had a post-buy inspection, replaced front lower control arm bushings, and fresh oil change. I'll be back for any and all maintenance. Their online system was easy to use. They outlined recommended maintenance and supporting details/prices. Great local family owned import shop!

From 2002 - 2007 I had an old 1990 Audio 20V Q. It took me a few years to find him but once I did, I never went anywhere else. Mike was the most knowledgable, transparent and effective mechanic for that car. He worked quickly, gave good prices, and I would have happily remained his customer for years if my car hadn't been totaled in a hit-and-run.

I've used Importmasters for a few years now and overall I've been satisfied with their honesty, communication,and quality of work on my 2015 A4. I've saved money time and time again by avoiding the dealership and using Importmasters. I just wish I could get them to work on all my vehicles because I don't trust anyone in town more than these folks.

I scheduled an appointment for an oil change for my audi, dropped my car off in the morning and when my car was ready a few hours later I received a text and email that went over my invoice, I was able to pay online and while picking up my keys the diagnostic on my cars check engine light was discussed. Friendly staff and excellent service.

I had been looking for a place to take my Audi Q5 for some time. I walked in and Larry was able to get me taken care of for some Fluid jobs. I dropped off the previous night and my car was done early morning. Couldn’t be more satisfied with the attention given to my car. Easy to contact and schedule. Though the desk was busy on a call at the moment I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly mechanic in the shop that noticed I was waiting and attended to immediately after the call was finished. Larry and company are fantastic. We bring our VW TDI there, as well as our ancient Toyota Highlander. Larry and his crew do great, timely work and are upfront, open, and honest. If you own any car, but especially a VW or Audi, you should bring it to Larry. Importmasters is one of Kansas City's best-kept secrets.

Mike was informative and very knowledgeable. I couldn't afford the necessary repairs (for my AC), but he was at or below price against VW and Audi dealership service shops when I called around, and his diagnostic cost was $50 instead of the $95 I was being asked for elsewhere. He was helpful and articulate.

Have dealt with Mike several times for my '07 A4 and my wife's '10 A4 for regular maintenance intervals. Pricing is better than the dealer and service is quick. Mike also makes good recommendations rather than suggesting you should just take care of everything all the time like the dealer always would.

I've been using this garage for over 4 years. They are honest and reasonably priced. Much better than my experience at the local Audi dealership. They give you an honest diagnostic, but without any pressure. They are willing to do as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. I highly recommend.

I am pleased with the work and so is the owner of the car. I was told by an old friend that you guys do good work and it shows. I kinda had sticker shock on the bill, but you guys did a lot of work to it. I would definitely recommend Importmasters and will keep you in mind for future repairs.

We have worked with the owner Mike now for more than a year and have been pleased with his responsiveness and thoroughness. Unfortunately, Audis are not cheap to repair or maintain, but we feel like Mike is straight with us and our near 12 year old car is running in top shape.

I was ready to give up on my 2012 VW CC, as our usual shop had pronounced the engine "blown". Replacement was likely over $7k for a used engine. I wS introduced to Importmasters by my son, who also lives nearby. Repair was prompt and professional, and car runs fine so far.
