I bought a bakery good from this place and Halfway done eating I saw a living cockroach climbing around my bread. It was very shocking to me of how and where this cockroach could have been originated from. It might have just been from the outside and climb onto the bread. However, it could also be from the inside of the bread considering the fact that the bread I bought is hollow. The most disturbing fact to me is that it’s alive! I mean that’s very disturbing if it’s hiding inside the bread since I bought it from this bakery. I threw the rest of that bread away alongside with the cockroach in the garbage. It might be that the cockroach climb into the bread after they cook it and put it somewhere for cooling. I was just going to call them and inform them about this situation so that they could be more careful and not have another one of their customer as a victim of this same situation. But, they didn’t seem to believe what I said was true. So, I decided to post my experience over here so everyone is at least aware of it. I am not trying to purposely give this bakery a bad name but I am just trying to share this with everyone so at least the news is out there. And hopefully they start to believe what I am saying a true and be more careful next time. I just don’t want everyone else’s bakery good to have a foreign object like a cockroach in it.

Going to IRIS really brings me back to my childhood of walking past the local bakery after school in Taiwan. The smell alone transports me back to a time where things are so much simpler. A no fuss Taiwanese styled bakery with a large variety of breads, cakes, and cookies. A few of my favorites that is done to perfection is their milk butter (nai su) bun and their bite-sized hot dog buns. I've also tried most of their cakes too and all are made well and not too sweet compared to the typical stuff found in American bakeries. Although there are a lot of Asian bakeries in Flushing, I still prefer the stuff made at IRIS. The prices are very reasonable, and the service staff is always friendly and helpful in case you need more information about a particular product that you not familiar with (you'll need it, especially if you don't read Chinese). The best time to visit is around 9-10A when the day's fresh baked goods come out, when visiting at other times, especially later in the afternoon, the selection can be slightly limited (same with other fresh bakeries). There is a small seating area on the first floor right by the entrance, however the larger second floor seating area always seem to be closed whenever I visit.

This is a new food court in Downtown Flushing. (Yes another one!) The location is a bit farther than the other food courts (it is located on Roosevelt Ave closer to College Point Blvd.) which makes it less crowded on weekends and rush hour dinner time than the other food courts. This also made it easier to find seats. The environment feels slightly better than the food court in the basement because it is located on the first floor. The selections of food are slightly lacking in comparison to other food courts. There are like four spicy hot pot stores under the same name with each one located on one side of the food court. It is a bit too much. There is a Taiwanese restaurant which is always the busiest stand. They serve simple Taiwanese food. I tried the dumpling from the dumpling place. It was okay because I had better dumplings elsewhere. The wonton soup was decent. My friend tried the ramen and she didn't really like it. I just don't feel this food court measure up to the other food courts in Flushing.

I love this place! Atmosphere: it’s beautiful inside. Every time I visit, it’s calm, peaceful, not crowded. It’s a cafe you can can to sit and drink coffee, relax, eat some pastries. There’s upstairs seating too. A lot of window views for the nice ambiance. Food: of course the food is delicious. Their coffee isn’t so strong but the pastries are amazing. My favorite is the matcha creme pastry and the raspberry donut. Chinese bakeries are never intensely sweet which is why I adore them. Everything is light, fluffy and so fragrant. The raspberry is my favorite because it’s light and the sweetness only comes from the raspberry. Service: the staff is cool. Lovely and patient. Super friendly and always pleasant. I’ve seen customers act quite cold but the staff is so amazing here. They treat everyone the same. I visited once and it became my favorite spot in flushing.

Their strong points are in the baked goods, less so in drinks. I visit regularly for the black garlic bread, which is the best garlic bread I've ever had - flavorful, soft, and just moist enough to be eaten without a drink. Putting it through an oven adds a crust, and this bread tastes great when hot. Beautiful cakes both big and small for any occasion, and sweet level is on the lighter side, Japanese style. You pay for what you get. So far I've gotten many of the little ones for Mother's Day, sister's birthday, etc, and they're happy to not eat a whole cake and get to try out multiple flavors at one go. This is an unique bakery that stands out from all the chain brands and the rest.

I spent $30 for a small birthday cake around 11:30 am today. When I cut and shares it half an hour later, the cake was not fresh already. The cake was called “mango and peach.” The layers were absorbed the sugar juicy from canned peaches, no mango was found in the layers. The cake tasted weird, and I felt it was made yesterday or even ahead. Because the peaches and cake layers were mixed in a bad way. And the strawberries were not fresh at all. I thought this bakery had been there for a pretty long time and it should have some reputation. But I was wrong. Not sure when they made the cake and how they position themselves.

The Peach Mango Summer cake for our backyard wedding was scrumptious. A perfect blend of art w/ refreshing fruit in between light, fluffy cream & moist chiffon layers Our guests could not get enough of it. (Note: we ordered a 6” & 12” plain cakes to tier ourselves & added fresh foliage, but the fruit decor that typically comes with them are pretty too!) The ladies were very nice, making sure our custom order was made perfectly & only couple days prior. Their breads, cakes, and cream puffs are made fresh daily & it was hard to choose between the flavors & designs. Would definitely recommend!

I came here with my fiancé's friends to get a Sunday brunch dim sum around 10:30 am and even though the parking lot was packed, we didn't wait at all! We were served promptly and the ladies with the cart circulated frequently so that we could satisfy our hunger. The sweet soft tofu soup was great too. The reason why I'm giving 3 instead of 5 stars is because everything was mediocre. Nothing great, nothing bad. Just what I would expect at a dim sum place. Try to come here early because when we left around noon, this place was packed!!!

  • H Chan

I've been here a couple of times and it's a hit or a miss depending on your selection. The cream cheese bread was soooo disappointing! It wasn't sweet or flavored at all. The bread tasted like white bread and they just took regular cream cheese and filled it in. I wanted a sweet pastry and this wasn't it at all. Didn't bother to finish the other half. The hazelnut bun was good if eaten the same day. It has a crunchy top, soft bread, and a very sweet nutella like filling. It reminded me of eating a ferrero rocher bread.

  • Lee Harris

For their green tea cake, a fair yet lacking imitation of other competitors which are available for merely slightly more cost while providing higher quality products like real cream. On the outside the artisan creates a beautiful appearance that most unfortunately does not match the experience of taste overall. If you consider that this is a superior bakery for cakes we are missing out from an entire world of true quality within close reach. For Iris' pastries some are of satisfactory or good taste ***

  • Sherly Larochelle

They're racist( like all the asians in Flushing). If you're black person, DO NOT go there. They'll literally ignore you. As soon as I came in, both cashiers had their back turned at me like I wasn't even there, acting like they're very busy, hoping I would get impatient and leave. I was standing there for so long I was embarrassed. When I confronted them, they claimed they were waiting on me to make my selection, mind you I'm standing in one spot with a few stuff to choose from.

  • Julia Gao

The French bamboo garlic bread is delicious!! I will definitely come back for that when I can. It's black, but the normal color one is also tasty too. Things seem to be baked fresh. I've had better pineapple buns elsewhere, but one of their varieties was the right amount of fluffy sweetness that a pineapple bun should have. It's a good thing I don't live close by bc this place would be dangerous for my health/wallet (but good for the soul) :-)

  • John Liu

Baked fresh. Seems to stay very busy. Stocked shelves clear out quickly especially if "meal-type" items. We went in at 9:30 and a couple more "breakfast-y" (with meat/egg) items were sold out, though others still available. They were preparing to bring out special lunch time items. By evening, expect to find shelves virtually sold out. Amazing selection, items we've never seen, tasted or imagined. Delicious!

  • Lananh Vu

Nice bakery to stop by when you come in Flushing. They have so many cute cake with choice of flavour and reasonable price. I tried the matcha and peach cake and I’m a little disappointed. The peach is not fresh fruit but from can food. The matcha is rather artificial flavour than real matcha. But for $4/big piece of cake, I can not ask more… I will come back to try cream puffs, the special of this bakery.

  • lily lin

Every chance i get to come to flushing i must visit one of the bakeries, i love the buns, so i came in here and got a few flavors to try. The spot is clean and fancy looking, they have two floors and its a very welcoming location. The buns looked nice and they are positioned very well and organized, also their raks are really well built and keep the food protected from germs.

  • L Crystal

I ordered two lemon honey green tea this morning 11/29/23, but the young lady may forgets to add honey on it or it may be too little, and I can not even taste it, the tea was getting sour. I was calling to explain she may forget, but her attitude was so rude and she hung up on me. The store manager should be training her how to do the customer services.

  • Jianglu lee

Basically I've tried most of the bakery in Main Street but there is no one could make the real fluffy sponges cakes like Iris does , and to be honest this store is more convenient for the people who like to pay in credit card. You won't be disappointed with their any fabulous sponges cakes, it will make your day for one hundred percent sure❤️❤️❤️

  • Rangsey Keo

It's a normal bakery with a good range of breads and pastries to choose from. Coffee was so-so, and the seating area was made for anyone to hang around for long. Can't sat the baked goods were fantasic but they were decent. It is good for a short wait until your outing gang all arrive for your next flushing destination, though.

  • Apple Pi Techs

Oh so Deliciously good. Every single time I pass by I must go in and get some goodies. It's almost impossible not to go in, the pastries are all so Beautiful and totally yummy. I try a different set each time and have so much more to go .. see you next time on my way to wherever I'm going ...but must stop by your shop run.

  • Angela A

Staff was unfriendly and misspelled the name I wrote out on the order sheet(Rebecca) but the matcha cake was better than average (cafe zaiya, tou le jour) in taste and was very pretty. I added "Rosenda" in cupcake topping letters after picking up the cake. The store's name plate for birthday cakes is disappointing.

  • Anthony Bove

Their nice people and the prices are reasonable. The product is good, not original European pastry. But they are attempting to produce reasonably good coffee and tea products. They should have a bathroom. They have a better attitude than the Korean merchant who is overpriced and the product they produce is inferior.

  • Rav Wi

Customer service is sub par. Manager had to be in front of store in order for servers to attend to the guests without attitude. Upstairs area closed off. COVID, duh?! Back of house was very busy and I wanted to leave them a tip for all their care but the manager said it wasn't needed. That my friends is a red flag.

  • Eric San José

Easy to see right off of Prince Street servicing Flushing and the adjoining areas of Queens County. Parking on the Street is available but it fills up fast especially at night and on the weekends. Clean facilities. Reasonably priced. Credit cards accepted. We will most likely be going back.

  • Tina Ng

The cakes are really good, and the service inside the story was good... but when I called them to arrange a cake ahead of time, they hung up on me right away when I told them I spoke English only... but the bread and other pastries are really good. I especially like the puddings they sell.

  • Alice

Love the cakes here! But sometimes the cream taste like wax, either it's old or they mixed too much. Family Favorite cakes are Peach Mango and Strawberry ones. We requested to make a cake for a birthday...they told us the new baker couldn't make it :( so much for birthday plans

  • Charysse Gibson

The bread is delicious and pairs so well with the coffee. We had their pizza and cheese/mushroom breads with their Iris coffee and a mocha latte! The drinks are so smooth and paired well with the savory bread flavors! The owner and staff are very caring and attentive! 5/5!! :)

  • Nelly Wu

This bakery looks clean and elegant. their bread and pastries are the best in flushing. I am not a fan of Taipan or Fay Da anymore after having them here. One of a kind and delicious. Worth a try and more! They also made the prettiest birthday cake i've ever gotten my mom ;)

  • PandaDomo NYC

There's always a wide variety of bread available throughout the day. The sweet buns are a good option if you want a "plain" breakfast with a cup of coffee or tea. The service is fast but it's pretty hard to find a seat since everyone is hanging out and reading their papers.

  • Martino Pham

The black pepper bun is fantastic and the way they make the flakey dough looks so unique. Great start to a morning! The melon bread was exceptional being crispy on the outside, tender and moist on the inside. I dare say it tastes better than many ive experienced in Japan!

  • Rita L

Moon cakes are surprisingly good! The taro one has mochi inside, yummy! Cute cakes but not sure if they taste good. The chocolate bear was just ok, super cute though! Their cream puffs are big, good crust but cream was meh. I prefer beard papa’s cream style over this one.

  • Karmal

Fantastic cake and service, I got the mango peach cake with berries. The cake also came with a plastic cake cutter, mini plates with mini forks, and some candles. The French baguette was ok. The bacon cheese bread was a bit greasy, but the other pastries were 4 or 5 star.

  • Steven Gravitz

Not your typical bakery. All sorts of interesting options ranging from sweet to savory and I don't believe anything is over $3. However, if you're watching your weight, there are not many good options, other than coffee based drinks which I have not tried.

  • Lijie Zhang

I’m here for the puffs. The cream puffs and the green tea puffs are both good. I personally like the original cream flavor more than the green tea one. The amount of cream stuffed inside is satisfying (much more than the other stores I tried in NYC).

  • Mackenzie L.

The lady at the register were so mean while we were trying to order a cake and she was yelling at us just because she does not want to explain what flavors we could choose for the cake. Very impatient, rude service. I will rate zero stars if I could.

  • Frederick Lin

My absolute favorite bakery that I HAVE to visit every time I pass by Flushing! Iris has my favorite Japanese CREAM PUFFS in the world, especially because of the light creamy filling that can't be found elsewhere. A unique and charming place. 10/10

  • Eve

Cute, clean, and affordable. I had some lovely taro milk tea. I didn't get to eat my Japanese egg tart until the next day, but it was still super delicious and soft after a night in thr fridge. Same with my orange cake roll! Definitely going back.

  • Rose Kong

LOVE their hot milk tea. I always get it when I come and sometimes I will go out of my way to go to Iris to get one. It has a unique fragrance, delicate texture, and best of all, it's not too sweet or offensive in any way. The perfect milk tea.

  • Andrew Gibson

Delicious and well priced. The owner was very kind and attentive, showing concern for my allergies and bringing down an extra seat for a customer who wanted to sit with a friend. Would definitely be a regular here if I lived in the area …

  • wendy kong

Today I ordered a purple mousee cake, but the person wrapped up a small cake that looks like a sheep. I didn’t get to see the cake, until I left, so I didn’t know. Please be careful when you shop here, I just wasted some of my money.

  • S •

Bread is ok. The chicken with bread tasted really bad. They definitely need some one who speaks English there. If you call their phone they will not answer and if they do they will hang up if you don't speak Chinese.

  • Tianhui Wang

poor service. I felt like they hate me for visiting their place. I've seen mean waitress before but this person here still surprised me. Her face gives you an incentive to slap it with the cake you just bought.

  • Marion NYC

Tons of bake goods to choose from. The creative beautiful cakes are so cute! The food tasted good and it’s around the corner from the main strip of flushing. You definitely need to stop by and check it out!

The cakes are very pretty and there's a wide assortment of pastries. The only downside is that the pastries look so tasty that you expect to eat sunbursts and rainbows, but it's just nice, sweet bread.

  • Shannon Sha

The bakery is busy, so I would think the food is fresh. I love the red bean buns and lotus paste bun. My husband likes the taro one. Also there is a little Ghirardelli chocolate Tarte that is divine.

  • Lady Cha

Nothing in this place is short of amazing. I always get the French toast it satisfies my cravings. The fruit tarts are nice and light. I visit at least once a week. It’s the best bakery in Queens.

  • Kimberly Sanchez

They were so kind and helpful! I asked what they recommended cake wise and was told the chocolate mousse cake is wonderful! I ordered a piece of that and two chocolate rolls! I will be back!

  • Bredgy L.

Taiwan Pork Floss - bread was fluffy and pork floss stuffed a bit inside but mostly on the outside. Also filled with some savory cream like the butter on banh Mi, which made it quite heavy.

  • Pranav Hegde

Amazing place with wide variety of Asian teas and bake products. I had the I guess was Okinawa tea cold and was really good. The bake products were also delicious and super fluffy. Must go.

  • R Power

breads are expensive AND they just raised the price for all breads. Many breads are very lightweight and Tiny, so you need to eat two to be full. will find somewhere else to buy bread...

  • Queenie LaNY

Nice bakery that sell all kind of bread which is more Japanese style ! They also sell nice bubble tea and cake here! This is one of the bakery that I would buy my birthday cake here!

  • Ping-Chih Tsai

Great place! Good selection and coming from Canada, where they usually don't write the ingredients of the buns I am very happy that they have detailed ingredients in store.

  • Gage Seymour

This was amazing! I highly recommend going at 9 am for a full selection but even at 8 it was delicious. I got the taro roll and the lemon tea. Best stuff ever. #New York

A hidden Gem ... Been around for ages ... a Chinese French Fusion Bakery ... they have some of the Best Fluffy Pastries around and priced very well! Clean and Fresh!

  • Sara S

I always stop here when I visit Flushing. I’ve tried most of the items here and have not been disappointed! Cashiers are friendly and drinks are prepared quickly.

  • JASON YI

compare to the other new opening coffee shop, you might rethink about the rough made cake, and amateur decorating. No wonton soup, tofu soup. Bluffing people!!

  • Orca Global

The ice they use for making drinks are very dirty. I have friends who worked there told me about that. Management is not respectful to their low level stuff.

  • Kuan Kuan

Check your receipt before leaving this an unscrupulous bakery because they charge you more and their employees have bad attitude. Never going back again!

  • Nathan O

Best "Japanese Bakery" (Not actually run by Japanese) in Queens. If you like this place and you're in Manhattan check out Takahachi in Tribeca too.

  • Pablo J.

Bakery goods are really good coffee not so much they need to improve it plus they need more variety of coffees too bad there is no sitting still.

  • Hammad Arshad

It is the worst bakery I have ever been to. I bought a cheesecake and I had to throw it out after one bite because it tasted awful. Terrible.

  • Sean Linen

I want to come here every time I go to Flushing. It's always delicious, though some items are better heated. Remember to ask if they can

I love the breads from this Bakery. The only Thing I don't like about is if they can put The breads in bigger plastic wrapping.

It's really good... I had the Caterpillar bread, I haven't tried their tea or coffee☕ but they have good choices available.

  • Jason Valencia

Nice and neat bakery. Kind staff. Red wine Logan bread however wasn't up to par. $5 for a small piece, not worth it

  • Eunice Baek

I had regular tea but the pastries looked yummy. Second floor seating was closed and no outlets on the first floor.

The food here is extravagant. I personally like the Japanese Cream Puffs but it may be too sweet for other people.

  • Ting
