My wife and I have been to the Iron Skillet many times but not for a long time until yesterday, Mother's Day. It was just as I remembered..... excellent! The fried chicken was exceptionally delicious and the service was ridiculous. One person seated us, another took our order, Leon waited on us and a young teenage boy kept my ice tea glass full. The real beauty of this place is that is everything is included (except alcohol). So many places nickel and dime you to death by charging 3 & $4 for ice tea, coffee, etc. Even dessert is included at the Iron Skillet. The owner Mr. Torr is always there to make sure everything is running well and even follows up before your visit to remind you of your reservation. Obviously, my wife and I will return.

I love the ambiance. The service the portion sizes. The food was mediocre, with exception is the pickle beets & great selection of ice cream to include easbeery with pecans (rasberry salad). It was good but mediocre. My chicken was cooked well on one side and overcooked on the other. No chicken wings, just drummets. The flavor of the chicken was wonderful. They have plastic table clothes that you would use outside for a picnic. For the prices that theycharge their clientele deserves a cloth tablecloth. With every step in the restaurant my shoes stuck to the floor. It's screaming for good cleaning. The decor is old world, old elegant southern, kind of plantation feel.i loved it. You possible have a romantic dinner there. There is a little patio in front, needs a little attention. Nice place to wait, if need be. I had a good time with my friends!

We have been going to Iron Skillet since the mid 90s and we absolutely love it. Any special time that we want to celebrate and eat out, this place is the top of my list. Great Home Cooked styled meals with fantastic service. I also love the old House that they turned into a restaurant so many years ago. It give the whole experience a more special feeling. Recently, for the first time, we ordered a meal as carry-out. I was so thrilled to get the full meal with each dinner. It included the Head Lettuce with dressing, beets and cottage cheese. Then the main item with a very healthy serving of their delicious mashed potatoes (and gravy), green beans, corn and bread. We ended up with left overs that we keep enjoying. It was a good value. You’ll never leave hungry and now I know you will still have plenty on a carry-out.

Food was not good at all. Took our family here to celebrate my mom’s birthday… was my first time eating here and will definitely be my last. All of the high mark reviews are little strange to me because the food had hardly any taste. The atmosphere had an old little creepy vibe to it. A couple of people in our group ordered steak which came out tough and flavorless; after asking about this, the waitress noted that they only slather the steak in butter and don’t put any other seasoning on it… HUH??? This place apparently has been around for several decades, the decor and the food seem like it’s never been updated either. Myself and others in our group felt sick to stomach after leaving. Also, restrooms… I’ve seen better at truck stops. Hard pass!!!

To say we had a fantastic time would be an understatement. The staff fawned over us with a level of attention so high, I caught myself feeling unworthy of such service. They are just that good. The chicken and steak were spot-on. All the food came out hot, and somehow stayed hot, during the entire meal. It was an experience I can't wait to relive. The restaurant is family-friendly - and I still had some reservations about bringing the kids to such a nice place - but again the staff was over-the-moon awesome with the kids, the entire time, making sure they felt included and respected. The result was a lovely evening with delicious food and family time, with a pampering to make it perfect.

We eat here once a year for a family bday. This was our first trip where they let the staff of color even speak to us (white family) in a decade. We avoid it the rest of the year cause ive never seen them treat the staff of color the same as the white staff. Im not saying they hold any negative ideaologies, simply always been our experience visiting.

dirty run down old place mediocre food at best. food taken to tables is often recycled (Gross and unsanitary) took my mom here to celebrate her birthday. It was a large group of us. we paid for slop. First and last. Another 1 and done. I heard good things but the restaurant did not hold up to the any of those standards. I am not sure who is keeping this place open. Its filthy. be glad you don't see the inside of the kitchen, you would be in disbelief. Better off taking chances eating at McDonalds

I was excited to be there as soon as I walked in. The ambiance is definitely gorgeous & has an upscale feel. But sadly, the older gentleman host with the suit & grey hair was honestly the best part of my experience. He was very helpful & kind. The chicken was the most raved about thing on the menu, but my was extremely dry but greasy. They also don’t offer any type of condiments besides hot sauce. The food is definitely over priced as well. I’m only leaving 3 stars because the French onion was okay & my daughter enjoyed the vegetables & biscuits. But that’s all. Other than that everything else was disappointing.

  • Robert Wheeler

Extremely outdated and very very old decor but the service and food is out of this world. The owner is probably one of the nicest gentlemen you could ever meet. He makes sure to make an appearance at every single person's dinner table to say hello before the end of their meals. With a little help and money the Iron Skillet could be a booming, thriving, and extremely popular family style restaurant. They just need a little help to do more advertising and promotions to get this younger generation in their doors and then it could literally be a 5 star restaurant EASILY!! But again GREAT food and service.

  • Chelsie Tamms

This place is a hidden gem. They beautifully accommodated our very large (25+ group) on relatively short notice. The service was wonderful, the food was delicious, and the overall atmosphere was very quaint and friendly. This is the perfect spot for a family-style meal. The chicken was perfectly cooked and all the sides and extras were great.

The food honestly took me by surprise. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. Came up to about 14$ with a drink. The chicken sandwich was crispy, flavorful, juicy and tender. Ate the sandwich so quick I didn’t even take a picture. The fries were crispy hot and well seasoned. Our waiter was great too, consistently checked in on us to make sure we were doing great. Overall it was great but it wasn’t fantastic (4 stars from me typically) or world class (5 stars). Would I come back here and eat? Yes, buuuut it definitely wouldn’t be my go to place. Just my honest and personal opinion.

Absolutely THE best Sunday brunch we've had since we moved to Indians in 2015! This place is deliciously elegant! Their pickled beets and onion soup are absolutely TO DIE for. The fried chicken reminded me very strongly of my grandmother’s, who made the best fried chicken I’ve ever eaten.

We expected a good experience because of the Iron Skillet's reputation, but what we found exceeded our expectations three fold ! The food (we had the chicken) was fantastic, plentiful (4 courses), and served promptly. The service was genteel and we felt like we were her only guests even though the restaurant was busy. It was obvious that the food was homemade and made from scratch. Three of us ate for just over $60. Mr Torr is to be commended for his expertise and hands on management. We intend to return and to spread the word about the existence of this establishment.

A scrumptious surprise! I never heard of this place until I did a search on TripAdvisor. I went around 4 PM on a Saturday with a friend. Well when we arrived there wasn’t anyone there, so we were a bit skeptical of the quality of the food despite the rave reviews online. But within ONE hour the place was completely full! The food was superb! The waitress was excellent and patient with me as I had no clue which plate to use etc.…. It was a delightful and cultured experience. I had the walleye and it was cooked to perfection!

Cozy!! Traditional style dining and I love that appetizers, dinner AND dessert are all just part of the experience. If im being honest I'll come here just to eat all the sides and soup!! Apple sauce is amazing and the onion soup is probably the BEST onion soup I've ever had. The rolls taste like homemade goodness

First time coming here and won't be the last. The restaurant is very nice on the inside. The dinner is served family style. They are best known for their chicken. The meals come with a ton of different sides, bread, salad, main entree, and ice cream for dessert. There is no way of leaving here hungry. By far the best part is the excellent service. We had our 20 month old daughter with us and the staff so good with her. It made for a very enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this place.

I came here with my buddy, who’s a BIG “Little House on the Prairie” fan, so the aura of this restaurant was perfect for him. Going inside of the place felt like a step in time, imagining what a lovely dinner in the 1800’s would be like. Or close. Inside of this old, fancy former farm house was one of the best meals my buddy and I have had. Very charming on the inside. EXCELLENT food. Great waiter. Dinner was an experience. We ate like Kings of the Prairie. Highly recommended.

We have been coming here for about 15 years. Always loved the food and service. We hadn't been there for awhile but wow, what a change. They have changed the salad dressing... so bitter-- and the gravy was terrible. The lady waitress that has been there for several years had the dirtiest apron dress on!! Green beans, corn and chicken were still great. So disappointed to see it go downhill.

The food was delicious. The only issue I had was, the waiter wasn’t upfront with how everything works . My boyfriend and I order-fried chicken and when it came out, we received a lot of chicken b/c we assumed that we would share one order vs. two… I mean, we had a lot of left overs. Second, they add on tip and wanted an additional tip. It’s alittle sketchy how they do business

Who in the world is actually still eating here! We just went for a family bday and OMG. Food flavorless, decor from the early 1900’s. The silverware looked rusted. Just awful! Where is the health department!! I just kept looking at the families coming in thinking “are y’all really eating this”

We have a family dinner every year 2017 we chose the Iron Skillet bc we used to come there with our parents as children... We loved the It's nostalgia and family style sidedishes with main courses were individually served how ever the tables were too clothe together for our 8pm dinning time. Actually at times it was it was difficult for waiter to serve without reaching....that's reason for not getting a 5☆

  • Vickie Grinstead

Very bad experience. Ordered walleye and it was spoiled and smelled awful. The decor is very dated- maybe from the 80’s. This place needs the health department to come in and have it shut down. The Manager didn’t seem to care. He only wanted to hear “everything is good”

The fried chicken was some of the best I’ve ever had. You can tell it’s made in a cast iron and not a fryer. The onion soup was great and tasted homemade. Everything else was good enough, but those were the stars of the show. The price is unbeatable and you get tons of food. Will definitely be back!

Food was okay it was hard to enjoy our meal with what I'm assuming was the hostess constantly staring at us while we ate and rolling her eyes while my son was telling us a story about his music class. She was very rude when she actually spoke with us. The rest of the staff was very pleasant and helpful. More
