To save in shipping costs, we opted to pick up some online gifts at the store. The greeter directed us to the customer service counter at the back of the store. I get the feeling that having customers pick up online orders at the store hasn't been thought out all the way, since either the customer service counter doesn't have the room to store the online orders or the employees don't have any plans on stocking the area since after you tell them you are picking up an online order, they proceed to walk past you towards the middle of the store. I can only imagine how many times they are stopped by other customers asking questions. About 20 minutes later, she came back with a few items we had ordered with the comment that she couldn't find everything on our order. I wish she provided some suggestions like she would keep looking and page us when she found everything or would simply ship it to our home since I can't imagine anyone being expected to return to the store night after night to see if they found something else we ordered. Being fed up with the lack of service and amount of time wasted, my wife asked for a refund. As fair punishment, I think the person in charge of picking out and buying the toilet paper should have to use it for the rest of their life. I would describe it as the thinnest tissue paper you can get. I'm assuming someone picked this to save as much money as possible, but has created a crime against humanity. Doing a little shopping myself, I found a pair of shoes in the clearance section. Normally $90, on clearance for $50. I've learned at other stores to check the price since some clearance stuff is cheaper than marked. I looked all over the store for a price check machine. Never found one. The guy at the customer service counter scanned the barcode right next to the clearance sticker and said that they are on sale for $70. Shoes went back on the shelf. During my search for a price check, I found my wife who was upset that what her mom wanted for Christmas and she ordered online was not available in the store. She considered getting her a JC Penney's gift card, but was having some serious doubts about giving any money to this business. I suggested trying the customer service counter again to see if they will look again. She didn't want anything to do with the woman back there, but I explained that there is a guy there. Based on the problems we've had and the customer ahead of us was having with the guy at the customer service counter, my wife felt that a manager should be involved. Tracking down another employee to find us a manager, we found the greeter we saw on the way in. We explained our situation and she requested a manager. While waiting, she asked what was going on and we explained that we would like them to find our online order. She pointed out that other people are leaving the store with their online orders. Great. We must be special. After 5 minutes go by, my wife asks her to page a manager again since she didn't get a response after the first page. After another 5 minutes of nothing, except for the greeter making excuses of why a manager is probably too busy to respond to her requests, I asked what she suggested we do if she was us. Like everyone else we dealt with, there were no suggestions: just go away. We did.
I am a customer who today experienced what I honestly thought I'd never share as a frequent shopper with this company. Today, I was harassed by a JCPenney employee who followed me at close range while I was shopping. As a young female, this was frightening and disturbing. After having fully shopped for the things I was looking for and paid for, I decided to approach your employee and ask whether or not he worked for the company; he said yes. I proceeded to ask if he was the person who looked for people who might be stealing, and he said yes. I asked him why I was a target to follow; your employee did not have a straight answer, which led me to believe he profiled me based on my skin color and maybe age. This, as you can imagine, upset me; what was most upsetting is I worked for JCPenney and the exact location for almost five years and have been a customer for over ten years, and never had I ever been profiled. I was so upset I could not feel good about my new purchases, and I decided to return my items immediately. I'm sure this company would never care about my personal story, but I still felt it was necessary to share my experience. I no longer have the desire or want to shop at this location ever again, and I hope my story can make someone realize that there needs to be more training involved at your stores. After I returned home and cooled off, I called the store to get the employee's name. The general manager by the name of Brooke informed me that the gentleman who was following me was named Charles. This is probably my favorite store -- if it wasn't for the jewelry department. I would give the store at least 4 stars, but the 1 star I would give the jewelry department really brings my overall score down. This is the second time I've had a problem with the jewelry department in this particular store. During one of the busiest days of the week (Saturday during tax free weekend) there's only 1 person working in the jewelry department. After waiting for the customer ahead of me to complete her purchase (which took a good 20 minutes), I was finally waited on. The clerk clearly didn't want to be there and was NOT knowledgable of the watches I was asking about which were no small chunk of change. I asked to look at a Citizen watch and asked the price. She didn't offer to look up the sale price saying she'd have to go to her register to see what it was. That's fine, but she just stood there looking at me. I asked about the band - if I could change it out on my own -- not asking for the store to do it. She said she didn't know and that they didn't sell bands. I put the watch down and left the store. If she had simply called for another clerk to help her instead of having a customer wait that long for service, and if she had looked (or let me look) at the watch instructions on changing bands, then I probably would have purchased a $300 watch. As it is, I will take my business elsewhere. Penney's needs to do something about this jewelry department.
I’m not one to complain or write reviews. I Just left the skyview location from picking up an online order. I just got off work I own my own construction business so I’m a little dirty. Stopped to look at white gold necklaces I have been wanting one to match my white gold earrings that I purchased from J.C. Penney and spent about 1k on. The associate who helped me was extremely judgmental and said that those were very expensive and I should probably look at the stainless steel ones that they were more economical and in my price range. Never in my life have I felt so judged. I will never step foot in JCPenney again. Stereo typing and judging someone by the way they’re dressed or what they look like is not ok and completely unacceptable. She has no idea how much money is in my pocket or how much I have in the bank. It’s definitely more than enough to buy any necklace you have in the store. Should that matter NO. Not that it matters to a company as big as yours and unfortunately it will continue to happen.
This is now the only JCP I will go to in the Northland. I use to frequent the Liberty location a lot, but my last few visits there were atrocious--clothing everywhere, no organization, associates who ignored customers and acted like it was an inconvenience to help them; the whole store was a disaster. The last time I went to Liberty, I got fed up and ended up leaving there and going to this location and it was perfect! Everything was properly organized and I had no trouble finding what I was looking for, as well as associates who greeted me and made sure to ask if I needed help. My only complaint is that they didn't have a formal dress section outside of a few prom dresses and mother of the bride type dresses (I needed a gown for a black tie event), but the associates were wonderful about trying to help me. Had I not needed it for the next day (my fault for waiting until last minute), I would have had them order one online. Kudos to the staff for doing such a great job maintaining their store!
The jewelry department was crazy busy when we went in to pick up a repaired ring. We were greated by each member of the team. And given the amount of people standing in the department, we knew it could be a while. Finally Pam turned her attention to us. She retrieved our fixed ring, looked up info to send off two other items for repair, sent off a third item in an attempt to repair it, and answered several questions. She maintained poise and professionalism throughout the entire transaction. This may seem like a "that's her job." Kind of moment. However after working in the customer service industry for more than 25 years myself, the ability to maintain composure throughout a repetitive stressful day is difficult. And she continued with grace before and after our transaction was complete. People like Pam are the reason that i continue to shop at this location.
Spent 2.5-3 hours in jcpenney this evening shopping because the lady at the front door told us of a sale that was happening. Had a ton of stuff. Got to the front to check out and was told she had given us false information. It was bad enough that they wouldn’t honor what the lady told us but then proceeded to be unwilling to offer us any consolation deal. I have worked retail, and my daughter has worked at that very store. There is always something you can do. Always an override code you can punch in. The unwillingness of your staff to offer any sort of customer service is outrageous. 3 hours of our lives we will never get back. We left with nothing. I tried to still make a purchase but the longer I stood there (because we had a lot) the more frustrated I got. Thanks for nothing. JCPenney.
I was in the Skyview Ave Store 12/02 Deloris in jewelry helped me first with a necklace and the also rang me out for clothing I tried to complete the survey from the QR And receipt. Having Issues. But I feel Deloris deserves the recognition as she was very helpful with with my jewelry purchase and my checkout process. She was already busy in that department and handled herself well acknowledging other customers and attempting to get some help I’m not a fan of 22 digits (make it easier on the customer if you want input) you have to input to take the survey. I reviewed my input and was the same as receipt and still didn’t work. Under normal circumstances I would not have taken time to come leave a review. But Deloris deserves the shout out
Not happy about my last expeirience. A couple weeks ago I was in the store. As me and my wife walked into the store. We noticed that the store personnel has stopped a man for trying to walk out with a pair of shoes. Instead of telling the man to vacate the premises. They let him walk around the store. He was walking all around store mumbling to himself making everyone uncomfortable. He even walked up to me and my wife asking for money. He did this with several other customers in the store. We notified management and they said we got police on the way. Which is fine but I don't understand why after you caught him trying to steal. You would let him wonder around the store. It was a very uncomfortable experience.
I've never been so irritated with a young cashier and manager at the same time in my life. I went to redeem rewards bucks they awarded me based on previous purchases and told I was free to spend them as I wished. Not exactly true. The $30.00 was awarderd in $10.00 incrememrs and they expected me to spend the exact dollar amount in order to use them .impossible without spending out if pocket as well. I felt misled and then they seemed to get angry that I didn't appreciate the was I was misled even though I was calm and quiet and polite when asking them to explain. Oh well it's my only bad experience there, they have wonderful sales!
After 25 years I canceled my jcpenny card and say goodbye. I liked penny's because they have sizes and styles different from other places. I have tried to exchange or get refund on 2 pants I purchased in wrong size, and they say there is nothing they can do because of the way the were rung up at the register. I didn't go Karen I just said ok and left. I went to another location, was going to exchange but couldn't. These are regular stock dress pants, not clearance or no longer stocked items. I have had several small issues over the year, but not like this. So I won't go back. Maybe you will have better results.
They have a limited big and tall selection some of the items didn't seem to match the sizes as at other store the sizes fit differently, may just be the different cut from one designer to the next these just seem to be larger versions of existing lines vs a Taylor that just focuses on larger sizes only. The store was not very well organized but I will admit it looked to be a busy weekend and people are not great at putting things back themselves, not to mention trying to 'retail fold' cloths. Was appreciative of the sales discount prices as I was able to add a few extras to my wardrobe.
I wish I could have placed this on the JCPenney survey website but unfortunately it doesn't allow you to place more than one review from your phone. I spent a considerable amount of time in the beauty area where Kassie gave me great care! She did everything from showing me what was on sale, to what was going to work best for me & my skin type, to actually teaching me how to apply eyeshadow correctly on mannequin as well as myself. It may have taken a great amount of time but she was patient, understanding, kind, and very informational! Thanks for the great service Kassie!
Always love JCP. There were really good sales in every department in addition to using coupons makes this a great score. There are new summer styles and great selection. For some reason this location no longer offers free wifi. This is really a negative draw back. There are terrible dead spots in store and I cant use JCP app on my phone because there is no service. I have to go all the way front to get a signal. They really need to reestablish that service. It's small but it makes a big gesture to its customers.
As the rise of online shopping and cheap clothing options increase, I still prefer going to shop for work slacks and dresses in person. The hours are somewhat odd, so it isn't the most convenient to get to. I also find the selection is regularly picked over, especially if you want to do in store pickup using the app's inventory. I also find the Sephora setup to be sparse and not very appealing. I think that JCPenney is doing their best to appeal to the changing audiences and the shifting shopping strategies.
Of all the department stores I've ever been to and shopped, JCPenney is THE BEST!!!! Besides being budget friendly, the store has the best high quality clothing and styles while being in modest prices. And don't get me started on their knock out clearance section (the first thing I always go to!)! As always, I'll continue to shop there not because its convenient for me but also because the company could really use the support and patronage given that it has been going through some financial troubles.
You have lost a customer today. I personally shopped here rarely anyways. But your on line coupon that says show this code in store herstyle to receive 10 off a purchase of 25 isn't really valid in the store but only on line. Oh and the sign that says 4 pack of white t shirts fine print excluded to mention that's only if you but another pack. I don't personally care I will go to Macy's or order on line in the future since to get people in the store we offer false advertisement.
Bass Pro Shop in Independence is phenomenal! They are my go-to store for all things outdoorsy & warm right now. The quality of merchandise is consistently good. The store is clean, well laid out, & a fun adventure all by itself, but what makes Bass Pro so phenomenal is the staff. I found them all to be pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable, respectful, & kind. Although I do not live in the area, they are definitely worth the drive to get there.
I had stopped in to pick up an order i purchased online and realized how much i missed the actual shopping experience. There was lots of well placed merchandis ... such a variety.... all of it so very fresh and new (not picked over and jammed into overcrowded racks). Great deals were easy to spot but I didn't have any coupons or a whole lot of time so I didn't buy anything in store this trip. I plan on going back, soon, though.
People were nice that is the 2 stars, but they didn't have what I needed in the store, so had to order online. Wasted trip, I could have stayed home and done that, then they want to charge me to ship it to my house. I went to the store to get the item, they didn't have it, now I get the pleasure of having to wait for the item, plus paying extra because they didn't have the item. Something is not seeming right here. Will not be back.
The In Style hair salon is great ..Melinda is a great stylist..she gave me tips on how to care for my hair and she did a wonderful job. I am definitely going to keep her as my stylist. Love the sales and coupons..good quality merchandise..regular priced items are too expensive for many people but they have great sales and if you join the jcpenney preferred customer mailing list.. Which is free...
My boyfriend is a 4xlt and it’s really hard to find clothing that fits him that isn’t expensive, like from dxl, or falls apart, like another big and tall store near there that I can’t remember the name of. They don’t have a huge selection for him, but it’s bigger than most stores in the same price range. He was able to find some shorts and swimming trunks that he liked and that fit him.
I was very pleased with the help I received today. I was greered by a friendly associate as I was walking into the store. I told him that I had to pick up an order and he was able to direct me to the area in the back to pick it up. Once I got back there, an associate there was able to locate my order and make sure it was correct. The process was painless and every one was so helpful!
Love the place! I got a color & cut today. It's perfect! I also purchased some hair spray for my mother-in-law which she was very pleased with. It's brilliant to have a salon inside JC Penney because they have such a wide range of quality products in one place. You can buy a tie, a sports jersey, shoes, a bed, luggage, some appliances, jewelry and get your hair did.
I've shopped at Penney's for most of my life. This store, however, is a mess. Especially the men's department. Merchandise on the floor, looks like tables haven't been straightened in months, limited selections that always looks picked over. Checkout staff is friendly, that's the only upside at this store. I always seem to come away from this store disappointed.
This review is actually for the salon. I went in there last night to get a very drastically different hairstyle. It took Kelsie two hours to cut it, and and I am very, very happy with it. Excellent service, didn't rush me out. It was a great experience. Manager came over and consulted a few times, alos a very nice person. I will be back.
I had found a fitness watch online at a very good price but wanted to see it in person. The salesperson, Margaret was very helpful as the price in store was higher but she was able to honor the lower price. It is not common to get above and beyond service nowadays. If you haven't been to Penney's lately you should give them a try.
The employees are very polite and courteous. Tonight I took some jeans back but I think I must of bought way back when. Anyway the cashier and manager were so nice. They couldn’t find anything about them but they tried hard.. I really appreciate the time they tried to find them. I will donate them. .Date We’d. June 16. Evening.
The first gal I asked for help to find mens watches took one look at me and sent me to the $10 watches. I had to find the ones worthy of gift giving myself. And another lady helped me. Thank goodness for her. Joyce was the first ones name. I was so miffed I didnt catch the other gals name. But I am greatful for her!!
Friendly, helpful staff. Took time to help me locate what I was looking for and chatted about my finds before I left. Loved getting 40-50% off every item. Nice dressing rooms with great lighting and plentiful hooks and metal rod to hang clothes. I did feel credit shamed when I declined the credit card offer.
Customer service is almost nonexistent. I was shopping in the Women's petites, lingerie section. I was in the store approximately 30 minutes today at 11:15. I never saw a single store employees, except at the registers. The petites has been condensed down to the point it's now sharing space women's dresses.
Very clean store with great presentation of merchandise. Store associates were very helpful when asked about available merchandise/sizing/styles. Some inconsistent communication in regards to sizing available online. Overall it was a much better shopping experience than what I've had in a long time.
My daughter wanted some new winter school clothes. She found A LOT! Nearly everything was on sale. Plus, the cashier told me if I got the credit card I could save a lot more. I think my daughter ended up with 5 or 6 new outfits for $60, and it's beautiful, high quality clothing. Very impressed!
I always love JC Penney. They have so many beautiful new clothes. I wanted to stay and look forever. I was very impressed with how the store was laid out customer service was friendly. I will be going back very soon. Also I ordered three dresses online and they were fantastic.
I went in the store 2 days in a row...and had SO much TROUBLE just trying to purchase an itty bitty pinky ?(10k white gold tho;)... I was sent a survey and GM Ms Brooke responded right away! And turned my troubles into a Happy Holiday ‼ Cheers
The store is clean and lit well with plenty of associates to help. I haven't been to a JC Penny in some time and after my experience here I will be back due to the helpfulness and cheer of the associates. Particularly Jackie, thank you for the assistance!
Liz gave me highlights but never asked what colour I wanted them or let me know what she was doing while she was doing it. She would walk off and I had no idea what was going on. I ended up with highlights of the wrong colour and asked for
I like JCP for big and tall clothing. The clothing is ok for the price. I do have concerns. Their sale prices are somewhat confusing, and it's done that way on purpose. Their coupons have more more clauses in it than most NFL contracts. On
The Levis were at a GREAT price but the ones they had just wasn't my style. Not 1 Employee asked if they could help me. Maybe because they might be short handed and can only do so much. I have allot of respect for people who work in retail.
Horrible experience. Lady at the jewelry counter was extremely rude. Recieved a beautiful watch from my husband for Christmas that he purchased from jcpenney. Took it on today to get it sized and felt like I was inconveniencing the lady.
After waiting 30 minutes in the jewelry department, the manager decided to come help her associate that was getting overwhelmed with customers. I stated to the manager I wanted to buy a specific watch and she immediately tried talking me
Was going to buy an expensive watch but after standing at the jewelry for 15 minutes and not even a hello, I’ll be with you shortly and them talking to customers that came after us we got fed up and left. Poor customer service.
I needed some business professional dress clothes and COVID has changed shopping in stores drastically! Today I found several great outfits with a few blouses. The dressing rooms were clean and I was pleased with what I got!
I love, love, love JCPENNEY!! They have such cute things and I can often find what I am looking for in my size. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. You can't beat their prices for the quality of merchandise offered.
I have started shopping here on a regular basis, the sales are great. I also visit the salon once a month to get my hair done. The girls in the salon are nice and friendly, Nasima always does a great job.
They have a great sale in jewelry going on right now. If you're looking to buy fine jewelry they have a 40 percent off coupon. I bought this diamond necklace for $25. Can't use the coupon on this tho.
The lady at the jewelry counter was very helpful and gave me a chance to pick the correct ring for my wife of 30 years!! Thank you for your patience and making this a present she loves!!!
Highly recommended. First impressions last and today was no exception. Would have been a 5 star rating if the "manager" had not been so snippy to his employees in front of this customer.
One of my favorite stores, very clean, love their workout clothes, kids sections, i enjoy shopping here. Good coupons, but lately no coupons for clearance sales which used to thrill me
I received excellent service from a young woman (Sarah) when checking out. She helped my reopen an account and helped me to save money on my purchase. She was very helpful!
Definitely wouldn't recommend going to the salon to have dreadlocks retouched. $75 down the hole and got to find someone to fix it now. I guess you get what you pay for.
They were having a Black Friday in July sale and it was legit! Loved that my coupon worked on clearance! And the store was really nice and clean, and the staff friendly.
The cashier was so kind. Asked me many questions and then directed me to an online coupon I was not aware of that saved me even more. Very pleased with my experience
I ordered on line and picked up at the store. No problems. Quick and easy. You can call from your car on arrival and it's under a tree so there is some shade.
Only had a return to make. They really need more folks working there, but guessing they (and everyone else) haven't adjusted to post pandemic shopping yet!
Found some great active wear & the friend & family discount got me 1 sports bra, 2 shirts & 3 leggings for just a pinch over $100. Great prices!
Its only one level but its pretty big. They're is a huge selection of clothing here, most of which seems to be priced reasonably well.
The lady was very helpful. She helped my mom order what she wanted since they didn't have it in store.
Well stocked and plenty of help when you need it. Kind of a long checkout line .
The sal s associates there were awesome !!!
