One of the 2 brothers last name Vyas I think he is usually on the tabla one of the 2 assistant priest don’t know his name he helps downstairs with the food too! He has been consistently rude. First time he asked me something while on my way inside the temple about a book I was carrying! Asked me where did I get that book? The way he questioned was condescending. I let it slide. Today at the bhojan downstairs too he was very rude and assumed I threw an empty styrofoam plate into the garbage and didn’t recycle it! Again he assumed!! In fact I had finished my lunch and came to the recycle bin dumped the extra food and recycled the styrofoam as told. When he turned around I guess someone else dumped their styrofoam and since I happen to be there he accused me?!? Very sad! The head priest has been nothing but kind always smiling! This assistant priest is very serious never smiles at all! Why? Why? I tried to call the temple to address this no one picked up unfortunately I have leave a review and see if anyone responds!!!
I have been coming to Jai Durga since it was built. I will never go again. I was there for a puja for a deceased person and the pandits cell phone rang TWICE during the puja, and he was in no rush to silence it! ABSURD. He also was coughing next to the elderly parents who were grieving with no regard for COVID. He also yawned MULTIPLE times while reciting the prayer, and even FORGOT what he was supposed to say. I brought this up to the main pandit and he responded with 'I will tell him', what do you mean tell him? Why don't YOU tell him that it was not right!? What can I expect when he himself was talking in the main room while the puja was going on using his airpods, absoloutely disgraceful, I will never come back here and will let EVERYONE I know to not come here as well. I will make the trek to Hare Krishna in toronto or ANYWHERE else thats not this crooked temple. THEN I also saw the pandit asking for more money from the grieving parents after they paid, UNREAL.
Something doesn't feel right about that place.. it departs from traditional mandir... it is close to a mockery of sanatam dharma ... no idea regards for Murti sthapana and murti ghar , devghar or agama.. i prefer the srilankan ayyappa temple nearby...small but yet spiritual...and authentic. My parents and family in India will be shocked to see such an apathy...i would never take them there nor any non hindu keen explorer of sanatan dharma.. It is a abrahamic styled cultural center / theatre not a mandir where the murtis are kept on the stage like a show to behold... however, the ambience and people are sincere honest and kind.. the satsang saved the day for me to brings you back to some authenticity and are a must attend during durga pooja..the guruji and poojariji/ panditji are very spiritual and kind Sorry to say but a broken shani mandir temple outside dadar station is more authentic than this.. I had high expectations after seeing some great mandir in USA.
This temple needs to learn some people etiquette in order to keep their devotees and maintain their temple. There is no one greeting new people and explaining how the temple is run or what is expected of devotees. Having children running around and misbehaving duri g bhajans is taking away from other devotees devotion. You should have specific time for people to come in and do Darshan at the alter.. when you have bhagans going on. You should not have people walking around and going to the alter when bhagans are going on. They are very disorganized with no rules and regulation. I visited the temple twice and I would prefer to go to a more organized temple. I hope my review is taken as positive and improvements are made.
Unprofessional and do not recommend. We attended a funeral here and was deeply offended for the grieving parents. Temple workers were taking phones calls during the service and/or letting it ring during the service. Ceremony items were kept in bags and were unorganized. The grieving family were rudely corrected during a service they've never done before. All issues could have been avoided if the temple cared, communicated, and were organized. I do not recommend. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
Terrible temple. Came here for a prayer service and pandits tried to scam the parents by asking for MORE money after the puja. Also the pandits phone rang, and I speak the same language and I know for a fact he forgot what the prayer was. Another pundit was on the phone talking and laughing while the prayer ceremony was going on. These people are the lowest form of filth I have ever encountered, no respect for the departed. I pray for the family for having to deal with these people.
Absolutely terrible temple. Here for a funeral service and the pundits phone was ringing out loud! How does that happen!? He also appeared to be falling asleep, and generally didn't seem to care about the puja or the grieving parents. I would avoid at all costs. The pundit ALSO tried to scam the grieving parents by asking for money after everything was said and done! Who does that!? These guys give Hindus a bad name.
Being new to Canada and missing to visit any Hindu Temple during my stay in China. i was amazed to see so many Temples nearby, i visited couple of them but this temple has something special. I got very positvie wibes while visiting this place. very clean , and the program they do are also very good and gives us a devine feeling. i resumed my weekly temple visit which i used to do on every teusday in India.
Hindu temple nicely kept All hindu deities like Shiv ji Ganpati ji Durga ji Kali mata ji Narayan ji Krishna bhagwan ji Bajrangbali ji Saibaba murties are placed Bahut sundar murties with beatiful wardrobes attract very much Neat & calm place You get peace visiting this temple There is basement comprising kitchen. Small family functions can be organised. All covid regulations observed. Must visit.
Beautiful Hindu Temple and being there just brings peace to yiur mind. Temple is well maintained, clean and follows set schedule for everyday morning and evening pooja. They also celebrate all key festivals and have Elaborate events planned around them, like Janmashtami, Navratri, holi, etc. In addition to that, Temple continues to have some event running. I highly recommend the place.
It's a good Hindu Temple. We visited on Mahashivratri ( Night of Shiva), under new management. The temple has undergone renovations and was well organized to direct public and keep them moving through without any hassle. Only suggestion would be to open the 2nd side door to keep entry and exit separate for free flowing public mobility and Prashad taking.
Absolutely terrible temple, chose this temple for my brothers funeral, pandits cell phone rang repeatedly out loud during ceremony and was coughing all over the place. All they care about is money, they had the audacity to ask my grieving father for more money after the terrible ceremony performed. Avoid at all costs!
Nice .. peaceful.. looking from Outside feels closed .. but is open and very empty . I think the management can do much better improving the temple and devotional activities ads rather than advertising local events services .. this my personal opinion but temple has a good vibe
This place is terrible. I was here for a funeral prayer, and the pundits phone rang, TWICE. Other priests also were talking while the prayer was going on. Poorly organized prayer and all the priests here are extremely disrespectful. Go to any other temple than this one.
This place is a must visit. The temple holds many events. The main deity is goddess Durga but as is vase with other temples there are other dieties installed. We appreciate the activities carried out regularly in there including poojas during various festivals.
Such amazing temple. Hindu festivities are carried out here in full fervor. The idols are so soo beautiful. You'll just fall in love with all the idols and u will just want to keep looking at them. All information related to hindu festivals would be available.
We had our new house puja and Shastri Bhavesh Dave ji did a great job by giving his 100% and explaining each and every vidhi and purpose of puja. We would highly recommend him to everyone. Jai Durga Hindu Society Temple always feels like home away from home.
Very nice temple with lots of festivities and celebrations on major occasions. Pandit ji is humble. Temple is clean and peaceful. Always a bliss to visit this temple. I visited on KarwaChauth and Diwali, and was happy with the festive mood over there.
Best Hindu temple in Scarborough and east Toronto, Canada. Lots of parking, neat and clean, best pundit Damodar Ji, lots of space for small and large family functions. Great place to meditate and seek Krishna's blessings! Jai Bharat! Vande Matram !
A visit here is a blessing in itself. Please don't forget to worship the peepal tree. Please appreciate the Beautiful garden. Please don't pluck any flowers or veggies. It's the hard work of temple staff and management. Please appreciate it.
Very neat and clean. Management maintained a very good hygiene, walking distance from the nearest bus stop and has ample parking space. The aura of temple is very positive and quiet, good place for meditation. They have a separate place for
I attended this temple when it was in it's old location in the plaza. I must say that the new building is beautiful. I'm impressed with how much space there is to walk around and there's a gorgeous murti of Lord Ganesha to greet you when
Just visited this temple few days ago. The environment was so rich and welcoming. The Maharaj ji was very well spoken and very knowledgable. Loved his entire session. The music was amazing as well. The lead singer was very talented and
Excellent Ambiance & Lively Temple with very Helpful Pandit ji.Evening Bhajan Sandhya, Aarti, Festivals celebrations very well organized and heart touching you can find Peace Here.. " Radhe Radhe " Best Temple …
Kids are playing here and there. Pandit ji don’t say anyone anything. People come here to get peace but instead of maintaining peace at the place, pandit ji is own talking to people. Really disappointing.
Great temple. Very peaceful place to retrospect. One of the necessities not just for Indians but any human being. Spend some time after office and get revitalize with positive vibrations.
This place is so big, peaceful and magical, loved being there. The prasadam is always so yummy. They have separate room for jackets and shoes and you can wash your hands there only.
Just want to let you know Shawn Bhinda, there is job shortage as there are more students invited plus there are hindu temple and gurudwara helping people in other provinces
very beautiful Hindu temple. Got a chance to attend a very well organized marriage with Hindu traditions, followed by a delicious Indian meal. Would love to visit again.
Great place with dieties. You will get peace of mind. Shivaling and Radhe krishna are there along with other gods and goddesses. Visit for more experience.
The Durga temple was very spacious. There were many programs and opportunities to join the temple community. Overall I had a nice and peaceful experience.
Magnificent building representing Hindu culture . Very tolerant people compared to other religious ethnicities. No discrimination . Anybody can go there .
Pundit Sharma and the rest of the priest are so kind and helpful. The temple in itself is beautiful and has great energy. Definitely a place to visit.
Very peaceful and tranquil. Ideal to pray and meditate. Pandit ji is very helpful and helpful too. He will support you for any pooja you want to do.
It is a nice place to visit. It has ample parking spots. I would recommend this place if you want to visit a temple in and around Scarborough.
Very peaceful place, with statues of all gods and goddesses. Nicely built, with lots of parking. Much appreciated. Thanks to the management.
My favourite temple in Toronto… allows for peaceful unhurried visit and yet adheres to the expectations from a traditional Hindu temple
A peaceful and religious place where you will find idols of all Hindu gods. You will feel like you are present in India.
