My son started going to Joseph W Grier Academy about 2 weeks ago and so far it has been a good experience. From the beginning the front desk was extremely busy but they maintained professionalism and ensured everyone up front was attended to. Nikki Curry is the primary person that helped me and she was super kind and soft spoken. The teachers assigned to my son for 1st grade are Ms. Crosby and Mr. Martin and my son has nothing but good things to say. He has come home talking about all the things he learned in class. The pick up and drop off process they have in place is very structured and safe. All the kids stay in the cafeteria and every car goes one by one in a structured line letting the teachers know who they are there to pick up. They then call them on a walkie talkie and they come out with another teacher. It goes fast this way and the kids are safe inside until you arrive. HW is also what I expected for 1st grade and they get motivational rewards as well. I’m not sure why there are so many bad reviews. Reading them terrified me and I’m new in Charlotte so I applied to so many Charter Schools because of the reviews. I felt it was important to provide my personal opinion on here and let everyone know it’s not what they stated. They have a very kind and professional staff and the kids I’ve encoubtered have been very sweet. My son made friends immediately and he’s very shy.

Ultimate disrespect from administration and staff. School definitely not up to part with security. Was told since the first day of school that children will be escorted by the teachers to class when they enter the school. That has yet to happen. People walk on campus with no id or visitor pass and no one askes question. The media librarian ms.meagan is rude and treats the media center as a prison. and the principal is so absent minded, that if something happens on campus parents rarely get a phone call from the the school. In general this school sucks.

Worst school ever, DO NOT send your children here. My son loved school until attending this place. He got a bloody lip on day two and we could not get a report or any information about how it happened. They pulled my son out of class without informing his parents that it would happen. There are many other problems we noticed but just take my word and find a different school.

I really don’t know who the principal is. I’ve never seen her and she has never ever called me back. Every call from a parent isn’t a complaint but if the principal would call she’d know that. I had heard how If I had concerns that no one would contact me but I didn’t believe that any principal would actually avoid parents but here we are.

Teachers are punching kids in the stomach and letting them sit in stool for hours without contacting parents can't get in touch with the superintendent Earnest Winston they sweep EVERYTHING under the rug. Worst school ever. And the principal is the worst she knows absolutely nothing

JWG has a staff that is very serious about your education.They'll do there best to make the work understandable,There is some cons like kinda messy,some kids be cursing. Kids do have boyfriend's and girlfriend's.Your friends will make you have memories.

My son has been going to grier since kindergarten. He is now headed to the 2nd grade. All his teachers are great. I love this school!

They dont even answer the phone at this school LOL . I guess at noon they are all watching The Young and the Restless

Kids are getting into fights and some kids are so rude that you can’t even listen

So I attend their and let’s say people are cursing fighting and all crazy stuff

How did they pass ins Pection.bugs everywhere
