Me and my family have been going to Julio's @ Stella Sports club for many years now and they serve the best peri peri chicken I have ever eaten. The consistency is excellent and the service is top notch. Not to be confused with Julio's by the harbor even though this was the original Julio's restaurant before Julio sold the restaurant to one of his employees. This Julio's is quite different from his establishment at the waterfront. While Julio's at the waterfront is good, in my opinion Julio's @ Stella Sports Club serves better peri peri chicken and especially the chicken and prawn combo. I'm always torn between the chicken and prawn combo and the chicken and prawn curry. Both dishes are incredibly tasty. Good wholesome quality Mozambique cuisine with a smile .

Food is reasonably priced and good. Typical of a pub/bar setup. A bit rowdy but that's expected of a restaurant situated outside a sports field. A bit of a wait for food but maybe thats part of a good sales strategy in that the longer you wait, the more you drink whilst waiting for your meal. The waiters are conversant and always happy to assist you in making up your mind with what to order taking into account your likes and dislikes, but this comes handy after a good few drinks. Lots of parking. If you are parked outside in the park, remember you have a cross a road for those that will want to drag themselves out of the bar!

The owner, Goodness Sikhosana runs a spectacular restaurant. To start off your Portuguese roll with the yummy chilli is a must. I ordered the ribs well you can't top the very tasty succulent dish, I added some more of the chilli. My friend had the eisbein which she couldn't finish there was so much. Great family restaurant. Spotless toilets which is a major must for me. I will definitely be back . Thank you to our waiter Magic for great service. We met Goodness with a sparkling personality, well done and I look forward to coming to your Richards Bay branch.

It used to be a favorite for when the family visited but not anymore this will be the last visit

A hidden gem in suburban Durban. We discovered Julio's during a five day visit to Durban when we rented an apartment just up the road. The food was delicious, the service exceptional and a great variety to choose from. We selected Julio's as the venue for our last meal before starting our journey home to Australia (after watching Australia beat SA in the T20 cricket ). Many thanks for your contribution to our African Adventure.

We always rated this spot as one of our favorite Portuguese restaurants. Could not fault them on their food or service. Yesterday we were extremely disappointed with the service from a named waitress Phindile. Her arrogance and attitude left an extremely sour taste in our mouths. She lacked patience and any people skills. We will not be returning to this restaurant.

On Sunday(first time) I ordered in Lamb shank, and I was served with a rotten piece covered in source. I told the wait or and she took it back and gave me the menu to order alternative. I decided to be polite about it and sent an email to the shop, 2 days later no response instead I can't do anything due to diarrhea. Ngyabonga Julio's

Awesome Portuguese cuisine - relaxed atmosphere and great well trained waiters who are knowledgeable . They make excellent suggestions and are focused on being client centric . Loved our meal here and highly recommend for authentic Portuguese meals . The seafood hot pot and the paella was simply awesome. The starters are also yummy

This place is still one of my favourites in Durban. I have not had a seafood platter at any other restaurant where every single item on the platter impressed me,at Julio's I get surprised every time, time and again. And the dessert menu blew my mind!! Do yourself the favour! This place is AMAZING. Definitely one of my favourites...

  • Delia Johnston

My first time there. Great food, service and atmosphere. Really interesting that through the entire side wall, you can see people playing football/sports. Creates an interesting background to casual dining. I will return for their amazing currys, served in mini potjie pots, with lots of rice and sambal on the main plate.

Not sure whether to spread the good news because I want to keep this place all to myself. Food is EXTREMELY GOOD!!! Pricing is affordable, service is fast and the small venue doesn't allow for you to get left unattended. Cosy family environment. Security situated at the parking outside. Worth a try.

  • Pravin Amar

Still great value for money. Tasty Portuguese chicken and prawns with chips is a staple choice. Great accessible location. You can watch the astro soccer to while the time away. Service is fast and professional. Very friendly staff. Book in advance as the place is always full at peak times.

  • Jason Pastellides

Outstanding food will definitely recommend the snails starter and peppercorn steak as a main.

The food is always good. We were disappointed by the lamb shank that was covered in creamy sauce -very disappointing. Better to ask the customer if they prefer sauce covered food. The place could do with a renovation.

Very disappointing. It used to be our go to flop proof place for chicken n prawns. Had prawn pies for starters no prawns just stuffed with potatoes in a floured casing. Service was bad. Lost the plot. Not sure if chef changed. Won't be going back for sure.

Amazing food, ambient experience. I really missed the experience of eating out and they went out of their way to give us the most amazing experience. Thank you Landeka and Robin for making us feel at home and giving us the most amazing seafood and chicken

  • Dianne Suter

Excellent meals, huge portions, all at very affordable prices. Goodness runs a good Portuguese restaurant, which she took over from Julio himself, many years ago. Standards have never dropped and meals remain delicious and with very generous servings.

  • Malcolm Gallagher

The food is beautifully presented and cooked to.oerfectiion. I have a huge appetite but couldn't finish my soft, juicy succulent, melt off the bone eisbein. The prices are darn good too. See you there. Goodness, you're an excellent restaurateur.

  • Stuart Campbell-Gillies

Ordered a large takeaway of chicken, prawns, chips and rice with Peri Peri sauce on the side. Fed 8 of us and everything was fantastic. Thanks to the Julio's team.

Ordered Prawns. Asked for butterflied prawns basted in peri peri sauce. Received stale prawns, not butterflied nor was it basted. Spoke to the owner who seemed defensive and a little irritated. She brought us the sauce in a bowl.

  • Jean Chapman

A huge disappointment. One or two dishes were good thats about it. The service was very poor and if there is a big table they do not know how to separate the bill. Was for a special occasion so this was even more disappointing.

  • Priscilla Govender

Looking for the best peri peri chicken, ribs or calamari, Julios in Davenport road is definitely the place to go. A lovely relaxed atmosphere and delicious food, which is well priced and large portions

  • Saloshnie Parmaswar

Good food takes time to prepare. Relax and enjoy a drink while you wait. The prawn and chicken was the best I have tasted. Soft, fresh rolls on offer. Great service, excellent food and friendly staff.

I've read some rave reviews for Julios, and my family loves them, but I'm not a fan of prawns, and their peri peri chicken which I order instead isn't that great.
