The people living here belong to Basista / Bossatta cast of Gurjars. The Gurjars are living here approximately since 1800 AD. Before 1800 AD these Basista/ Bossatta were living in village Dewli - Khanpur situated in South Delhi. Basista / Bossatta community is famous in other Gurjar community because of people of this village sticking together even in the modern times. Some notable legends of Sarai Kale Khan are Ch Ratan Singh, Ch Nepal Singh, Swami Vichar Anand ji, and Sh Khem Bihari Vashista.Basistas of Sarai Kale Khan are famous for their big moustaches, personality, beauty, richness, kindness and royalty.Sarai Kale Khan is also called ‘moonchho Wali Sarai’. The land area of the original Sarai Kale Khan village stretched from Purana Qila (Old Fort) in the north-west to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the west, Myur Vihar in the east and Taimoor Nagar in the south. The village is surrounded by monuments such as Purana Qila, Humayun's Tomb, Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah, Abdur Rahim Khan-e-Khana's Tomb, Baara Pullah and others.

The South extension market which is popularly known as the 'South Ex' in short by locals and is an upscale market place that is more famous for its branded stores, glitzy showrooms & massive shopping malls of almost every big brands. Midst of this market & posh colony of South Ex-1 here lies a monument(a tomb) which is believed to be date back of late 15th century during the reign of Bahlul Lodhi. And who's buried here is still a question because the difference of opinion between historians! But it's said that this is likely to be tomb of Mubarak Khan, possibly father of Darya Khan Lohani.

This is a monument which is captured and encircled between the houses of South Extension colonies. It is just a small area situated in a colony. people living nearby or squatters too can be found in sitting the park. this is just behind the South Extension market and landmark is HSBC Bank from there is a straight road brining one to the monument. this is not very famous neither maintained as in Delhi there are various world famous monuments like Lodhi Garden, Humayun Tomb, Safdarjung Tomb etc....it can be easily accessed from South Extension Market.........

Very interesting place to visit if u are new place lover . but don't waste time here if u are couple because area is too short although it is good for relaxation and peace . if u are in nearby place then, u can visit to lunch here and rest . but, in summer it is a worst place because sun are a biggest hurdle for ur enjoyment. South extension metro station platform no. 1 is a nearest point . U can reach here to walk of 2 minute . If u want to click ur pics then u can here because lots of flowers are here and in tomb 2 tombs are there. Have a nice journey

Not good at all. Too much garbage, only good for couples and that too in the evening. In morning or afternoon it's rubbish. Good place for shooting or small photoshoot, if you want to see something better than this you might go to Mehrauli, there are at least 20 makbaras and all of them are very beautiful. And they are very clean too, and maximum of the people don't know about that place " Jamali Kamali Makbara" and nearby. There is a park near that called picnic ghat you could there too to enjoy with friends or family.

The tomb is strong enough to stand even today but badly needed maintenance. In Kale Khan Tomb, one cannot enter inside as it is locked. It has very small park where one can see lot of people sitting. It doesn't have restroom. Again disappointed by ASI which has left the entire complex to one security guard. Tomb need proper maintenance. No information is displayed here & nearby Bade & Chotey Khan tombs all which are located in NDSE, Part I.

  • Karan Gambhir

It's a small park with a Tomb in the middle. Had it been well maintained and taken care off, it would have looked much much better. The architecture is the same of that Mughal Era, but lack of cleanliness has reduced it into just another place where people can sit and eat. Having said that, it still has the potential to be a very good and neat looking Tomb, provided the management takes interest.

Mausoleum of Kale Khan is located neat kotla mubarkpur in delhi. Kale khan was a courtier during the reign of Bahlol Lodi. As per the inscription on the western mihrab suggest that the mausoleum was commissioned during the reign of Bahlol lodi in 1481.

Kale Khan ka Gumbad This tomb is dated to 1481 AD as per an inscription on the Mihrab inside the tomb. Kale Khan was a courtier in the Lodi period during the reign of Bahlol Lodi . It is conjectured that his father was Darya Khan Lohani. There is a tall cenotaph in an otherwise usual Lodi type tomb. It is stated to be the earliest dated tomb of the Lodi period.

When you go there you will see that it is in the middle of the residential area and it is not clean, there is no facility, just some people will be sitting alone. names are written on the walls

Kale khan ka makbara... It is located at South Extension in South Delhi... And it is so close to South extension metro station, if anyone loves peace must visit there and the interesting fact is that this place is very unknown to people. It is well maintained by ASI.

  • VINEET NEGI

the only thing want to say that we should not pollute public places ,i have seen beer bottle and wrappers, use dustbins and toilets . And please stop people not to write on walls or damage any buildings, lots of taxpayers money is spend to restore these buildings.

  • Priya Manakotte

Nice place to sit and relax. Normally one would fine young crowd. There are no chairs but you can sit on the stones of the makbara. Surrounded by a colony. Better to avoid visiting in the afternoon and after 7:00pm as the place gets a bit dark and lonely

  • rizwan mansoori

Kalekhan makbara is a good place to go. But there are many guys who smock a lot . I think that is not nice place to go there who they are going to for morning walk or a evening walk they took beeds also so I think do respect that place not disrespect

  • Street Stark (Raahul Kant)

You can come here and spend some time but not sitting for long The reason for this is because in the evening, there are some people who get intoxicated here..There are many college students who come and get photographed.

  • Deepanshu Agarwal

This is so big and good place for visiting. A large empty space is present here. Many people come here. This is the famous monument of south extension part 1. This place is peaceful with full of grass and tress.

  • Deepak Raj

Kale Khan Makbara Near South Ex,Need Maintance No Security Guard Was There. ASI should Do Anything For maintenance For This Tomb.No Restroom,No Proper Sitting Arrangements and Out of maintenance

  • Maneet KP

Needs more attention to the monument and security of this place .Ganja smokers and drunkards u can see all over this place front and back of this monument, who is actually spoiling premises.

  • SANCHIT POKHRIYAL

Very few people come here, mostly locals. So it is a good place for coming over to enjoy some solitude. The main mausoleum building has degraded over time, but still looks semi regal.

  • Saurav Raj

It's a good place to chill ur mind. You will get peace can feel relax. But be aware smokers and drinkers are dominant here. No one yet knocked me but I always cares about it.

  • Dr Naresh Jhajharia

Situated in the middle of hustle and bustle of South Extension. But it needs care and protection. People spent some good time around here but surroundings become dump ground.

  • khusru pervez

Very old building..no Mughal architecture so probably from an older era..might be Lodhi dinasty...so it seemed how those people actually buried their people with dignity...

  • Barlina Brahma

You may visit humayuns tomb, but humayun's barber's tomb or nai ka maqbara which is just few meters away inside is something different...its creepy. Like, haunted type
