We visited this place just after Victoria came out of lockdowns and we were blown away by the taste and the quality of the food. The place has very homely vibes and the owner of the restaurant makes sure they have a nice chat with you. One advice, please make a booking as we say the place fill up pretty quickly. We had the murg tikka, the shami kebab, and the naggra bhaji as the appetisers and they did not disappoint. For me, the shami kebab was the most amazing of these. The lamb mince filling was so light yet well spiced and delicious. I couldn’t get enough of this. The chicken lahori that we had for the main course comes very close to being one of the best chicken dishes that I’ve had in a restaurant. The chicken was so soft and tender but the masala was the king. It packed a heavy punch of spices, heat and everything nice! I’ve not a single negative about this dish. The chicken baloch was a milder version of the lahori and is perfect for kids and adults who cannot handle the spices. The Shahi veg was a bit of a downer as it had more potatoes to it than a healthy mix of other vegetables. Could’ve been better. The thing that we were not happy with the place was the wait times. I am not sure if they were short staffed or this is the norm but we had a long wait for the food to arrive after we placed the orders. The kids were not really happy with this and nether were the adults with this experience at 8 pm in the evening.

Haven't had a chance to try the food, so cannot comment on that. However, twice had bad customer experience. Once called in to make a reservation and the guy on the phone just kept on explaining how busy the restaurant is currently (~ 7:30 PM) and did not bother much to place a reservation (later in the evening). I saw the conversation not going anywhere, so dropped the idea. Second time, went directly to the restaurant with kids and first went inside to see if they have space available. The guy at reception said all tables are busy, but they have a spare table on other side of main service area (appeared a small living area with clothes lying on the couch), and if I am OK with sitting there? I told him that should be fine (as it is just myself and kids) and went out to bring kids in. The moment we came in, the same guy shows up again now explaining that I will have to wait as people sitting in the main area have placed their orders an hour ago and still not served (this was around 7:30 pm). I asked how long would it take and he said God knows, clearly giving an impression that he is not interested. This was ridiculous as I never had such a bad customer experience ever.

We visited “The Khyber Pass” last night. The food was exceptionally delicious. We ordered main dish as Chicken Lahori with Parathay and Chapati. For Desserts we enjoyed Gulab Jamun, I must say it was very authentic taste as Pakistani sweets. ❣️❣️After that we enjoyed Pakistani Tea along with Mr.Zafar Chit Chat. ❣️❣️He is very friendly and loving. The interior was thoughtful and beautifully decorated by his wife. It reminds of Pakistan’s Anarkali Bazar and Mughal Empire! I was deeply impressed by Mr.Zafar and his wife Ms.Zarina hospitality. They made us feel at home. They have earned two new customers and I will recommend it to all food lovers. ✨✨✨Keep up the good work The Khyber Pass team ✨✨✨

Reached restaurant after a long drive all the way from Canberra. The owner/ manager was incredibly rude and inhospitable. Even though the restaurant was entirely empty, he told us that they have tables of 4-5 people. We were 11 people including kids and he did not offer to put the tables together for us and turned us away as we didnt have a booking at his empty restaurant. Not sure how the food is but surely in the industry they are in, a bit of courtesy and respect for customers would do. Even if they couldnt cater for us, telling us respectfully would have made all the difference. Never going or recommending them.

Nice, clean well appointed restaurant that specializes in north Indian / Pakistani cuisine. Located in the Vermont residential area it has off street car parking, disabled parking, toilets and disabled toilets. The restaurant is well spaced out inside with comfortable chairs and well sized tables. The premises is owned and operated by a family and they do a very good job of cooking and serving the meals. The food was great and served in good sized portions. I attended here for a family event and would definitely recommend it to all appetites.

After hearing much hype about the place, I finally visited for a dinner with my wife and friends. The said friends made the recommendation and I am sure glad they did. Food was home cooked. The curries are amazing. Starters were plenty. We actually had food left over to take home. But I must say, the highlight of the evening was the host himself. Amazing service and exceptional hospitality. We stayed about 40mins just chatting to him after our dinner. Never have I experienced that before. Loved it.

This claims to be a Pakistani cuisine but I felt the taste was way more Indian than Pakistani. I have been to some great Indian restaurants too but this one disappointed in taste on every front. Rice were stale, under cooked, tasteless. Gravies felt like out of a can, both almost exactly the same. The ambience was calm and welcoming. The owner kind and engaging but for a restaurant, it is the food that will make me reserve a spot again and I would not recommend that.

I have been going for years. If you love curry, live near by and have not tried it yet then you have been missing out. Allow a little time for your meal, maybe have a wine and a chat or if it's takeaway order well ahead. Good curry on the spot takes time and that is exactly what it it. I would recommend the beef tornado for the hot lovers or even the lamb serguda. Oh it's all great anyway. Get into it.

Wow! We went here last night to catch up with friends and chose the tasting menu. It was such amazing food! Such a cozy atmosphere and the food was outstanding! Can’t remember last time I had such delicious comfort food. Amazing spices, well balanced We even had some vegetarians in the group which were also very happy with options. The vegetarian garlic Dhal was outstanding (so was everything else). Will definitely be back soon.

If you want Pakistani cuisine look no further. Hands down the best Pakistani restaurant in all of Melbourne. Family owned restaurant is a great place to be, get greeted with a huge friendly smile by the owner Zarina and her Husband Jeff. Zarina is the chef which never dissapoints. Cannot recommend this restaurant more highly and should be a MUST for all of Melbourne's foodies.

The best restaurant ever. The food is amazing. It is so fresh, fragrant and tasty and the staff are so friendly. They have a great way with oils and spices from the mild to hot and blend it all in the dishes beautifully with amazing melt in your mouth meat and vegetables. It is a small restaurant with many regulars so make sure you book as it fills up quickly :)

Prompt delivery, wonderful atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. But food was about average. We ordered Shami Kebab, Murgh Tikka as entree, Murgh Multani, Lamb Serguda and Beef Tornado. The parathas were oily, rice was too dry. Curries tasted the same. Murgh Tikka was very bland.

Wonderful! I'd be very surprised if anyone was disappointed by their visit here. The food is a pure delight and the service is 'charm' incarnate! Prices are very good and despite this, I was really impressed with the fact that the meat they use is obviously top quality. This place is a brilliant discovery!

The ambience reminded me so much of old times, the owner was incredibly professional and we had a nice time chatting with him. The food was great one of the few restaurants that offer authentic Pakistani taste. Would definitely visit again.

What a gem! It's our weekly go-to place!! Jeff is an awesome guy and the food is seriously amazing. Every week we try something different but it's all exquisite. It's BYO only by the way. Very very reasonable prices and great atmosphere!

Doubt on Halal. The owner didn’t have halal certificate but just tried to satisfy with “believe in his words”. Not sure, its due to attraction For non muslims or else. He can keep certificate on side to present on demand but not....

Always excellent food and service provided by Serina & Jeff and their family. Love the food, consistent in quality and this shows with the amazing numbers of people who are "regulars" at the restaurant.

The food is as close to authentic as you can realistically expect to find at any restaurant serving sub-continental fare. The decor appears tired, though, mercifully that doesn't influence the food!

Our family have been regulars for years. As far as food, service & atmosphere is concerned, Khyber Pass cannot be beaten. Tasty melt in your mouth dishes that would make Imran Khans mouth 'Drool'.
