Stay away from this place!!! The place is totally outdated, dirty and filthy. I literally had to wipe the table myself with wet wipes, because our hands were sticking to the dirty table. There was no hostess at her workplace when we walked in so we assumed that when we sit down the server would come to us but no, we waited for 10 minutes, no one came over to us. So we had to walk out and walk back in after seeing the hostess returning to her workplace, she literally said with poker face:"How many? Inside or outside" and then threw 2 menues on the table and left, me and my husband both agreed that she was high, she was obviously under sth. Our server didn't care about the service quality and we realized why only at the end, the automatic 20% gratuity after 10pm (I don't understand why your place equals itself to some fancy places like Country clubs or 4*-5* Restaurants with 20% automatic gratuity). And we usually do leave 20% tip to the servers but we would like to have such an option ourselves and if not it's obvious that the service should be then excellent, but not here... My photos show how horrible and outdated the furniture looks like, I literally was seating straight in order not to touch the booth with my back. Ladies room had a broken lock, which I noticed only after someone broke in while I was inside, there was toilet paper around trash bin, and the floors were super nasty, God knows when they were washed last time. The whole place needs complete renovation, it needs deep cleaning, and dusting and if you think that by building the walls from pannies and having such a beer variety (which is obviously not as many as you advertise on your web site) you think your business will live? We came here on Saturday and the place was almost empty, which now we understand why. The food that we ordered came super greesy, undercooked. My beer glass was dirty so I had to drink it from the straw. I will give you a free marketing advice: with such a beer selection you don't do samples and you don't have beer flights, do you even have a marketing manager? This is number ONE thing you have to do if you want customers to come back! You have to have customers try your beers and then like them, and then come back for that beer, but with purchasing the whole glass how people are supposed to find a beer of their taste?! I'm attaching the photos so that you can see yourself everything. We are obviously not coming back here! We were so disappointed that night that we started to look around and there is actually very nice place called Garage, it's literally a block away, so we went there, it had a live music and that place totally made us forget our bad experience with Kickbacks!

So I've been wanting to say this for a while now because I think negative feedback is important for a business to thrive. So I manage a restaurant, so I understand how restaurants work. Over the past several times I've been to this restaurant, my experience has been bad. I would say the only good thing on the menu is the appetizers. Let's start with the meatball sub... When I received it, presentation was terrible: the meatballs were hard, the bread was soggy. It was obvious that it was microwaved. I got the mac & cheese as a side, which had no salt or seasoning in it, and when I asked my server if she could take it off my bill since I only had two bites of it because it was so bad, she said that all sales are final… But that she would ask her manager. She obviously seemed afraid to ask her manager because the same waitress I had before messed up on one of my tickets and charged me for someone else, and she was literally scared to go to her manager, which I think is terrible. And when I asked her if she was in trouble, she's like, 'Yeah, my manager is not so happy with me that I am in big trouble.' I think that should have been a learning experience. The meat on the Reuben was too thick for a Reuben as well. Presentation on all the dishes was very bland. For a restaurant… I'm very embarrassed because I can literally cook the food a lot better at home. So I suggest the owners re-create a menu and take a strong look at the restaurant and how it's running. Also, the host is very rude. He's an older man that is always there. He grabs the menus and basically throws them on the table every time we are there.

A friend and I went here after a local pub closed at 2 am. We ordered an order of lumpias (added picture of menu) menu say it comes with 7. when it came out there were only 6. We brought it to the attention of Laura (server) she said sorry about that, let me tell the kitchen. She came back and said that the cook said it was 6 it didnt matter what the menu said. O...k.... We ordered... food took a while, we were thinking it was due to several ppl showing up all at once from the local pubs. We asked to see a manager, she explained that they had just changed how they made their lumpias and that they were waiting for new menus. We let her know that the menu caused confusion and she stated that we weren't the first guests to identify the problem. She said the owner was on site and she would notify him again. She ended with "I will get you "1" lumpia". The issue was not a lumpia. It was about the professionalism and how the staff addressed the concerns of the customer. When our one sandwich finally came out( fat julian)it was cold. The fries that came after, was the only thing Warm, not hot. We didnt finish it or take it home. Then they also charge 20% gratuity after 10pm, no matter how big ur party is. Over all, the service was bad, the server was nice but condescending. food was unsatisfactory. Will NOT be back.

My wife and I went here to grab a late dinner and a drink or two. Her peach sangria was missing the peach and when she asked for some peach schnapps we didn’t know we’d be charged $8 for it on top of what we were charged for the tasteless sangria! She had the cheese steak and I the meatball sub. Our check had additional charges for adding onions, lettuce, and tomatoes to the cheese steak. How petty can you get?!?! My meatball sub was ok. The meatballs and sauce were good but the bread was soggy so I only ate the meatballs. Maybe because it was so dark in there, that unless you have a flashlight you won’t be able to read the menu, we missed the fact that gratuity was automatically added to anything ordered after a certain time. When the bartender handed us back the receipt to sign, I caught the phrase “Additional Tip”. We were about to tip him twice by mistake, which he seemed perfectly fine with, but the service, food, drinks and prices were not worth the 20% that they snuck onto our bill without us knowing, let alone an additional 20% we were going to mistakenly tip on top of that. This is no way to treat your customers if you want them to come back. We won’t be.

This place is fantastic. If you are looking for or interested in a steam punk'esk place to visit or comply at you couldn't pick a better location. The photos I first saw gave me the impression, and visiting didn't disappoint at all. The food was amazing we where going to get something "I can't forget what but they sadly where out so I went with my backup choice of a bread with cheeses and a spinach, onion, and something dip that was one of the best softest gooiest things I've ever had and even the next day the bread reheated I. The microwave is as good as it was when we ordered it. Our ontrey was a stuffed meatloaf with a sauce and peppers that was great however it came with 2 "sides" we got fries green beans and onion petals I put sides in quotes because each was big enough to be a appetizer if not an ontrey by itself. And the scotch eggs were great but could have used some brown sauce. "They might have had some, but I didn't think to ask" highly recommend this place even if your not looking for the steam punk atmosphere (they have a circular beet tap in brass that looks like a steam engine)

I've visited this place several times over the years and have always enjoyed it. Tonight was different. Had a couple drinks at the bar and everyone was polite and great until we went down to the basement to check out an event. I asked the bartender in the basement if they had the same menu as the bar upstairs and she told me that it was a separate establishment and didn't have the same menu. She then proceeded to give me a regular kickbacks menu. I was pretty confused. I ordered the same beer I had ordered at the bar upstairs and she charged me twice as much for a glass half the size. She told me it was a members only club and I was being charged non members prices. I wasn't going to argue with a fat slob of a bartender over 8 bucks at 12:30am so I paid her, downed my beer, and left. I'm pretty disappointed in kickbacks for letting idiots like that provide service to customers. I'll return again because overall I like the place, but continuous experiences like that will ruin a business.

A must visit and eat! What a unique and interesting place. Where to start.... as we walked in, we were greeted and seated by friendly staff. Then Big Chase introduced himself to us as our server. He was more than a server and you will understand why later. It is a complete shock when you are given a diverse menu and a beer list of 240 beers.....yes, 240 beers. 204 on tap at a time. I ordered the chicken and shrimp pasta dish that Chase recommended was amazing. I packed up over half of it because I was so full and had plenty of chicken and shrimp left over. Very big portions. We ordered a beer each for our party and Chase asked the question. "Would you like to see our cellar, aging room down in the basement? " After we paid for our bill, the real excitement happened. He took our party down into the basement where he gave us a private tour of the cellar. Too much to write about, but please go and ask for Big Chase and ask for a tour. I would rate Kickbacks a 10 if I could. I know California sucks, but we could really use one on the west coast.

The bacon jam fries are my JAM! See what I did there? I also has the Jimmiechanga! I think even deadpool and his overwhelming love of chimichanga might be satisfied! Wowsa! Steve is the man with the plan and now we have a locker we will be seeing a lot more of each other.....if you or a friend even so much as maybe kinda sorta likes beer then get your pale ale a$s over to this place!! Its beyond words how incredibly awesome the atmosphere and decor is in this place. How can you go wrong with beer names like viking blod and vintage meads from old! Heck this place is going to be a regular visit for me when I come to Jax from Orlando.

I know it's been rough for most restaurants during covid...but it was def still a little off. Our server and the hostess definitely had some beef between the 2 of them and she was very forward with how she was triple sat and how they tip out the other staff who just "do nothing". They are in the process of changing their menu from what we were told so they were out of a lot. We live a few hours aways and my family has never been here...but I wanted to share with them my love of the venue...unfortunately after waiting an hour for an order of wings and a French dip...we had to go. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed they get out of this slump because as you can see...this place is awesome! The musician playing rocked hard and everything else was lovely.

Nothing bad to say! We were passing through and came in for dinner, just found on the map and wanted to try something new. The place didn't disappoint. Staff was super nice, the place is really cool inside, food was YUM. Kids had popcorn shrimp and the Nutella, strawberry, banana sandwich, Mac and cheese for a side is a must... It's sooo good. Husband and I did 3 apps, Brie cheese (came with dried and fresh fruits and crackers), nachos were perfect and we had the toasted bread with mushroom spread and alfredo dip. We left full and would definitely come back to try some other dishes.

We are not from the area and needed a place to watch the college football championship game (Yay Georgia)! This place was amazing. The food is hard to describe. They have familiar comfort food as well as items you could never have imagined. We got the bacon wrapped dates stuffed with goat cheese with strawberry jam, which sounded gross since I don’t like goat cheese. But it was sooooo good! Also had the mushroom bread, Kristy Kreme Burger, and Scotch Eggs. Everything was amazing. What made it fun—other than the Bulldogs clobbering TCU 65-7, was our server, Ethan! He made it a fun night we will always remember!!

World class belgian ale selection. Youll be hard pressed to find another in the states such as this. Definitely thankful i found this place, as it was by chance. The owner is a very approachable, cool guy and educated in beer, the history, and so much more when dealing with all styles belgian beer. His vision of an authentic euro style cellar is very apparent as you walk down stairs into the basement of the building, which is all cellar. Brick wall, caged and locked...beer varieties have their own areas, shelved and organized. Low lit, cool and quiet for keeping all the special beers drinkable for many many years!! Highly recommend

We made a reservation so that the restaurant could prepare for our large group to come in on a Saturday afternoon but we got there and were very underwhelmed with the service. The server himself was very nice but the management should have planned accordingly and made sure there was a bartender or food runner to help. Water glasses weren’t filled the two hours we were there and drink orders were only taken once. The food was good but all in all I think it would be much better for a night out looking for a nice atmosphere, bar food and beer and definitely with a small group.

The atmosphere here is great. The music appeals to all customers. The selection of craft beer will please the best of beer tasters. The Pierogies appetizer came out hot and seasoned to taste. The rice and mixed vegetables were the perfect companion to the whiskey sirloin. The outside seating is great a gentle breeze and peaceful surrounding of the community. The draw backs are simple. A menu item was removed so the menu did not allow for a smooth transition when placing your order. Once the menu is updated that problem will correct itself. The normal cups ran out so your drinks and refills for regular drinks are served in white cups.

Awesome place! My friend and I met up for dinner and to catch up. The service is top notch, our server Mary kept up with all of our needs and was wonderful at recommending a delicious cider we enjoyed amongst the other dishes we tried. The pierogies we a great starter and the main course was divine. A lot of food and we both had take home boxes. The prices are exceptionally reasonable. They didn't rush us out and as we talked and enjoyed the atmosphere. We sat out on the patio and it was beautiful. The chef even came to ask how we liked our food and let us take a selfie. ❤❤ A great experience and we are going back.

Got the Reuben(12.95) definitely not a 13$ sandwich meat was like chewn an old shoe very Lil saurkraut and hardly any thousand island and half the bread was soggy. Very plentiful with sides and appetizers got the fried pickles and onion petals both were very good. Have alot of different beers on tap I got the hefeweissen which was also very good just needed a few pieces of rice in the bottom for that German authenticity. Good place to drink not the best for dining

This was always my favorite bar when I worked downtown, but it had been forever since I was last there. Even though some of the original novelty of the steam-punk theming had gone for me, the bar has a great vibe and decent rock music playing. The menu is far more extensive than I remembered and the (comfort) food we ordered was great! Still a massive selection of beers, though maybe not as many as I remembered

We were served raw chicken wings and given an excuse from the chef through the server. You could kill someone with undercooked food plain and simple, stop making excuses! To add insult to injury, we were automatically charged a 20% gratuity that we didn't notice until after we left. We only left a $5 tip anyway since they didn't take responsibility for their undercooked food, but charging customers an automatic 20% gratuity should be against the law, and feels a lot like racial profiling. I will never come to this establishment ever again.

This was my first time and my last time coming here. We had a party of 10 and almost all our food had to be sent back. It was nasty and they manager was rude. They gave us old tea and the service was bad. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. We had to wait so long for our food and some of our people didn't receive their food. If I could rate them lower I would. Server didn't deserve the tip the automatically charge on parties of eight. Some of our party was so upset with the service that they just left and didn't order.

A must when visiting Jacksonville! We were looking for a place to get a drink and a bite to eat late Sunday Night and we found Kickbacks, which thankfully, is open til' 3:00 AM! From the drinks, to the shots, to the food; everything was amazing. I don't remember our server's name, but whoever was working Sunday night around 11 PM by the firepit, ya killed it!! Will definitely be coming back the next time we are in Jacksonville.

Went during the middle of the week during lunch. I haven't been in a few years. The service was excellent, but the food left more to be desired. The fries were honestly some of the best fries I've ever had; hot, crispy, and seasoned very well. The Cuban I got though was cold and didn't taste very good. I took a bite of my Wife's burger and it tasted pretty good. The bathrooms were pretty disgusting. If my Cuban tasted better and was hot, I'd give another star.

Best place to get, the best grapefruit beer as well as, the best comfort foods when the late night munchies hit!!! /\ 2 years ago I did that review above I went back last night and the renovations are completely beautiful!! The food still is the comfort foods you crave for at 2am and the portion sizes are still huge and the selection of beer is nothing but amazing. I'll update some photos just to show the updates. The price is still in a good range and the workers are just as fast as I can remember. Try their wings and lincon log lumpia!!

  • Alison Strachan

Went here after a hockey game because it was open late....big mistake. I realize places are shorted staff but this place was ridiculous. Took forever just to get our drinks. We were here for over 2 hours! Our food came out and my burger was burnt. We asked for sauce that didn't come with one of the dishes and it didn't come out for like 20 minutes. I finally found our waitress and she told me her tables got moved and that's why she never came back! Are you serious!? Will never return!

Wow! Most amazing menu and food. I love different stuff and boy do they have options for that. Really enjoyed the steampunk vibe. Had Emma as my bartender today and she made the whole experience unreal. Took me on a quick tour (they were slow at 1PM). She took me down to the cellar and I saw the largest beer collection in the world. I will be investing in a locker in the locker room as soon as one opens. Neat circular room with a vintage wood table and 8 chairs that anyone that rents a locker can use at anytime they are open.

This place wasn't just open late, but it was the most unique atmosphere that I've seen in a restaurant. The menu was huge with a ton of options. So freaking glad my daughter said no to IHOP. The food was of chief quality. The service was wonderful as well. I told my mom and dad cause I think he'd love it, they will be going soon too. Me and my daughter will definitely be back very soon.

Went in on a Wednesday night, after a bartender at a different King Street bar recommended Kickbacks. Amazing tap selection, I had 2 beers - a banana bread beer and another selection that I can't recall. The bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly and I enjoyed my short visit. A huge food menu, but i was only barhopping and didn't order. One unique aspect was all the penny covered walls!

Interesting place for sure! It has a gothic vibe… very dark inside and the decor it’s unique. Personally I liked it. My only thing is, it has a weird smell. But overtime, I guess you get use to it. On the new side, all the walls have 1 cent coins glued which is so cool and just give and awesome finish. The food was ok, servers were nice.

Went here originally probably 5 years ago but recently moved down the street and came by for some food and drinks. Better than I remembered! Bartender Drew was outstanding and very knowledgeable! He even offered to show all the guests of the bar around the place, including areas the everyday guest may not have known existed, like the downstairs bar and beer cellar! (Areas he explained that can be rented for private parties but very affordable!)

Good communication. They were slammed for St. Patrick's Day. So everything was slow (but no more than expected) they always alerted us when something would take an extra few minutes. My cider was out but the waitress had a great back up suggestion. The food was the same good quality as always. Overall a great place for the younger crowd. Beer cheese soup was amazing, thick and creamy.

Interesting place. Fantastic beer selection. Best in Jacksonville. Friendly staff. Our apps came out very quick, but took a bit for more chips? We will come back and try to food. Beers were a bit higher priced, but based on the selection I can see why. Some food was priced well, other seemed a little high. Worth the stop if you are a beer fan.

Very unique and great experience. Has over 100 beers on tap and many dishes. Parking can be really difficult so be prepared during prime time. There is outside seating, bar seating regular restraunt seating on the first and second floors. I would not bring my kids here but would not go so far as to say you shouldn't.

The size of this menu is disrespectful to the chef. And the microwaves and cheap liquor are disrespectful to the customers. The prices are outrageous for what the food is. The alcohol is outrageous for the bottom shelf liquor that is used. Service however was on point. Get real drunk and you won't care.

Food was delicious and fun choices! Love the menu! Only 4 stars cause the waitress was horrible! Forgot drink at bar, tried ti charge us for it after we asked for check, what a mess…sad part? Was only 4 of us there! Not even busy! Don’t have high expectations on the service but food was delicious!

This place is right up my alley, I wanted to love it. Beer was great and features an awesome basement cellar of stellar beers. However, the only thing worse than the service was the food. The panini was a hoagie bun squeezed between books- not even toasted. TLDR Beer: excellent; Restaurant: poor.
