"Really enjoyed this place"
We visited this establishment based on its previous reviews across different platforms and the menu which was review online. On arrival, the venue looked quaint and eat however we were very disappointed on being seated. The table had sauce from the night before smeared over it and the table had not been wiped down in days (pictures below). They had recently updated their website for Christmas in July however had not taken the time up update their entire menu. Like 99% of people these days, we reviewed the menu prior to going to ensure it was a place we wanted to have breakfast. On review of the menu it was different to the online version and when asked, the staff member stated 'what we have is what's on the menu'. Now to the food - we travel and eat out quiet a lot, so feel that we have a good grasp on acceptable food. We were out with two children my wife and I, the kids pancake was drowned in so much maple syrup the pancake itself kept disintegrating as you tried to pick it up - it was so over sweet that the kids didn't even want to finish it. The bacon and eggs was below average. It was clear the bacon had been cooked in advanced and sat somewhere to keep 'tepid' whilst the egg lacked any seasoning. I have never had burnt, what was meant to be sourdough but was just thick cut white toast loaf, bread that had not even been buttered. dry, overcooked thick cut toast is not pleasant with dry bacon and tasteless eggs. The French toast, was meant to be on brioche, however was the very same thick cut toast that the bacon and eggs were severed with, just, once again, drowned in maple syrup. We were very disappointed with this location. It may serve nice lunch and or evening meals but it is not recommended for breakfast.

Another exceptional dining experience. A Christmas in July luncheon on a typical misty winter's day in the Hills for our classic car club. This dear old house was warm and welcoming with fires burning in each room and all the festive trimmings adding to the atmosphere. The menu was very thoughtfully designed to allow choices should traditional fare not be preferred, as well as vegetarian or vegan options. Even the gravy was suitable to accompany the latter choices. The meals were beautifully prepared and presented in generous servings. Delicious. The overall service was friendly, warm and calmly efficient - always with a watchful eye on prompt orders, delivery of food/drinks and non-intrusive clearing. We were looked after so well. Congratulations to all front and back of house for a special event, enjoyed by all.

Parking for a person with a disability is designated close to the front entrance. Through the double gates to one side of the property, an off-road carpark extends to the rear of the restaurant and appears to furnish ample car spaces.
On 15th July 2023, had dinner at 7 pm as pre booked & were thoroughly disappointed. Very confusing to note that the online menus differ from the dishes displayed in the restaurant menu. The ordered Chicken & Leek Pie was absolutely tasteless as bland as hospital food & the chicken was quite lumpy. The Crepe Suzette was horrible as the crepes were crispy like a packet of crisps but could only eat the ice cream & the fruits. Complained & we were told that the issue will be brought to the Chef's notice. We were seated at table 32 opposite the Staff toilet. Every time the staff walked past our table to the Queen Victoria Room & onward into the bar we had to physically hang on to our wine glass & beer mug so that they would not topple over due to the vibration & movement of the floating wooden floor boards. This was our 6th visit to this restaurant & were very happy the previous 5 times. Thus wondering if there was a change of management which had brought the standard down. Trust the management will have an appropriate insight into this issue. Kind Regards, Syrus Udwadia.,

As a party of three we got 1 beef burger one zucchini soup and garlic prawns on saffron rice with greens, also a entree of the most overpriced garlic cheese bread that came with one piece that was a good size and another that was so tiny for a total of $15. The service is terrible took ages to get someone to order once we finally did we waited for our food for about 40 mins. Once the dishes had arrived the burger had no side salad the chips weren't fresh the beef wasn't flavourful just a bad meal really. a fish and chip shop could do so much better and charge a lot less. The zucchini soup was just a watery mess it was absolutely terrible a can of Heinz soup would have been far better. The garlic prawns with saffron rice and greens was another terrible meal so to start off the rice was old and undercooked there was no greens it was just old lettuce leaves covered in dressing, the garlic sauce was split. It was a total of $85 now happy to pay that for great quality set of meals but it's was so far away from being anything great. it's so overpriced for the poor quality it was. Will never be back and.

Really enjoyed this place. We came here just before 12pm on a Friday and already a few tables were occupied. The wait staff are really friendly and cheerful. The decor is very "British in the 50's" and you feel like you're walking into someone's house. I like that no massive renovation was done, the feel of the old house is still there with tables placed in different parts of the house. My friend and I shared the starter (panko brie $15) and slow cook lamb shank ($36) which was a main special. Both were real comfort food, I was satisfied without feeling overly full. For dessert we shared the Devonshire tea which was two good size scones with a coffee/tea ($16). I also ordered the turmeric spice latte ($5), it was like a sweet cinnamon latte, I really enjoyed it. Wish it came in a bigger size, would've preferred drinking it from a bowl like mug. The scones were soft and moist, they were a bit crumbly which I didn’t mind, found it easier to eat with my tea spoon. Much better scones than Ripe (dry) and Miss Marple (bland). The outside seating area looks really cosy too so I plan to return when the weather is warmer so I can dine outside and then walk around the gardens.

3.5 / 5 This Cafe is housed under a state of art cottage that is a historical beauty....And amid nature. That was one of the reason for choosing.this one since it was our very first after 3 months of shutdown. We all ordered almost the same thing for brunch which was a pan seared salmon served with potatoes and sweet corn fritters, bacon and egg on toast, quiche, coffees, Koko hot chocolate, lemongrass tea, chai and carrot cake slice Coffee was excellent and so was the espresso. Koko hot chocolate, as usual, was very good. So was the chai and lemongrass tea. Loved their version of beautifully cooked quiche but the crust was quite soggy. Loved the sauce that accompanied it. Bacon and Egg are pretty much a standard that one cannot fail. Carrot Cake slice and Salmon with Potatoes Sweet corn fritters. Salmon was seared beyond, and was extremely dry and chewy. And thus, made everything on the plate disappointing. Carrot was super dry and extremely sweet for our palate. Staffs' quite friendly and amazing. They really know how to take care of their customers. Knowing that they are in the middle.of nowhere, portions are prices appropriately and ingredients are quite fresh.
Came here for the name stayed for the friendly service warm atmosphere and good food! I had the carvery with two courses with my entree being the Panko crumbed Brie(amazing) and the roast being pork. I’ll be honest while all my food was very enjoyable, I was hoping all the trimmings might mean something a little bit more English and include things like Yorkshire pudding. But this was only a minor issue as my experience was one of warmth and good company and service. My dining buddies had the burger which from all reports was outstanding and cheesey garlic bread was a hit too. On my way out I decided to grab some jams and these are fantastic. This is a great hidden gem in the dandys

Perfect afternoon at King Henry's to celebrate my 39th B'day. We got the $55 high tea and were very impressed by the quantity and quality of the food. The service was very attentive and the outdoor deck area overlooking the ferns and trees was divine. Each course of the high tea was served on a high tea stand with dainty crockery covered in a lovely floral design. Plenty of tea for two in the massive teapot with proper English Breakfast tea leaves. The scones are a real standout and the best I've had in Olinda and Sassafras... and I have had them in MANY places. These scones are crispy on the outside and fluffy and moist inside. Extra jam and cream is provided free of charge and there is lemon curd for those who like it. Scones are not doughy and are definitely not microwaved like many others in the area. Highly recommend coming here with others for a delightful high tea or for an afternoon tea of the nicest scones in the area! Will be back again and might even try dinner on a Friday or Saturday night.
What a wonderful place to visit. The food was just beautiful, well prepared and cooked to perfection. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the English cob loaf and the crumbed Brie The staff are warm and welcoming and the atmosphere was spot on. Highly recommended for a good night out with a loved one.

Parking was available at the rear and on the street Parking was not amazing as you need to get out on the busy road or you need to walk the grave carpark which would not be fantastic for elderly, disabled, etc. Due to uneven, hill to climb, etc.
Such a fun space. Decorated in English flags, portraits and nicknacks. Low lighting which I love, and simple piano renditions of popular songs playing as background music. The layout is pretty unusual, many small rooms with tables ranging from 2+ seats. We shared a cheese board and scones. The cheese selection was delicious and the scones were fluffy and moist. The service was great, very friendly and pretty quick. They had a duck leg special on and the table next to us got it, it smelt amazing. All in all it was a great time and I would highly recommend eating here.

Average all round. It was a pleasant experience because of the lovely view and the forest environment. However for the high price of the dishes we were disappointed, small portions and bland tasting. Don’t bother with the pumpkin soup- for $18 you’ll get a tiny crust and about one metric cup of soup spread across a flat bowl. The fish and chips was okay size wise but the batter was oily. The drinks however were very pleasant and were the highlight. The toilets were dirty and had no toilet paper and whilst I have grace for the poor staff who may have been run off their feet during a busy day, ultimately the value was just not there in this experience and we won’t come back.

We had guests from overseas and we wanted to give them a great impression of a breakfast in Mount Dandenong. So we took them to King Henry’s restaurant and we ordered Great British Breakfast Board for Two People for 50$ . What you see in the picture is what we got! We had ordered fried eggs and poached eggs for the Great British Breakfast Board but we got scrambled eggs and poached eggs. Absolutely underwhelmed when we got this disorganised and poor presentation . The waitress apologised for not bringing it on a board and after we informed her that they had prepared the orders wrong the chef brought us fried eggs, boasting himself saying” now you have got eggs three ways!”. We found this inappropriate and rude. Disappointing experience. 3 stars for previous experiences.
Nice option of eating inside or outside. Parking can be tricky. Food was tasty & well presented. We all enjoyed our food. Confit duck was tender, beef burger and entree savoury tart quite good and the dessert crepes were delicious.

We had to wait in the carpark for 10 or so mins for diners to come out for next sitting & free up spaces. It wasn't too onerous, but 3 or 4 other cars shuffled in & out waiting for a spot, too.
Our first experience here was the best, I think. We ordered a beef burger and a veggie one. Both were good. The service was fabulous. One of the ladies there was very nice, polite, and full of positive vibes. I recommend both the outside and inside tables. The inside is an old-fashioned style, and the outside is adjacent to a nice view. We took an outside table for the view and having our lunch in a quiet place. Overall, go there and enjoy your lunch in this nice restaurant. I'll keep my review updated for my every future visits.

The staff went above and beyond to help us plan our event. The food was delicious and the service was incredible! You can really tell that the staff care about providing excellent customer service. My second visit today, and I ordered the Braised Beef Cheek with Parsnip Puree, Broccolini and Wine jus again, because it was so delicious last time, and it was just as good. The others ordered the Barramundi Beer battered fish & chips, and the Bangers and Mash and were equally happy. Atmosphere was cosy on this cold misty day, service very friendly. To top it all off, the coffee was just perfect and piping hot as requested (where most places just can't achieve that perfect temperature) - kudos to the barista and the chef.. Perfect meal.

Great cafe with fantastic indoor and outdoor seating options designed in old British style interior design. If you come during spring or summer, try to get one of the outdoor seating options as the views into the nature are very beautiful and it’s a perfect spot in the middle of nature. The food was good, although service was a bit slow as they were quite busy on a nice Sunday. The cafe has nice walks outside as well, a big chess board and plenty of space for kids to play around. Definitely one of our favorite places within the Dandenong Ranges.
Extra slow service even on a quiet night with less than a handful of customers. Food was generally okay/good. Lots of dirty dishes left outside table like it was super busy when it was dead quiet. They couldn't find our birthday dinner booking eventhough we showed the email confirmation but front staff young lady didn't really care - luckily it was a dead quiet night so we got a table anyway.

King Henry's is a beautiful themed dining experience with old english feels. The space is large and split into several different rooms and beautiful outside dining options too overlooking the gardens and forest. Staff are friendly and attentive and the food menu is traditionally english fair with some more Australian spin too. Good breakfast options with a great balance of flavours and portions sizes. Coffee is on point too and they also cater for gluten free and other food varieties. A nice surprise and worth a visit
This little gem is such a blessing to the dandenong hills. We had an incredible Christmas in July lunch here yesterday, everything about the space is authentic to British culture and the staff are honestly so kind and inviting. I am Scottish and I felt so at home!! We can't wait to make this our new local :) the food was incredible!!! Pricing was great too!! And the warm fire - 5 stars!!

Absolute gem of a place. Excellent menu and good coffee with a great atmosphere. We have been to King Henry’s Restaurant a few times. The food was nice and the staff were lovely. The only drawback was that we didn’t book and we were given a table in an area, where they make coffee and get drinks. Also it was quite cold in that area. It was like a pretty ordinary cafe with only 2 tables, not a restaurant. Our bill was $114.00. We should have been told that no tables were available.

We came here to celebrate our anniversary and really enjoyed it. A beautiful place that is a real gem of a restaurant. We struugled to decide on our dishes from the menu and specialsonly because we wanted them all. Each course was well presented, perfectly seasoned and as my photos show, a decent sized portion. Located in the Dandenongs rainforest, with ample parking, the tall trees surrunding and a lovely garden to meander around, this is well worth another trip.
Had a lovely Devonshire tea with my wife. We had the homemade soup. The scones were freshly cooked to order. Large scones.

A wonderful cafe with great ambience. The inside is a setting of formal dining where as the outside was casual and cosy. If you fear wasps you may want to sit inside, as there is a few flying around. The outside setting is nice with a little view of the downstairs courtyard. Courtyard has a giant checkers/chess board. wasps, as there's quite a few flying around. I had the Chilli scrambled eggs which was delish and coffee was amazing.

Great Location in the middle of the ranges. The ambience of the Cafe is beautiful. However, in terms of the food, they do not have much options for vegetarians. And also just for your reference, They charge you $2 per person if you bring your own cake for your birthday, So do make sure to check with them before booking.

Beautiful setting close to Sassafras in the Dandenongs. The building is Circa 1902 and the gardens are lush and colourful. Good food and friendly service.

Lovely - one of our guests ordered the crepe Suzette, and unfortunately, it arrived cold. The other diners enjoyed their meals of Barramundi and Salmon.

Had a great experience for our daughters 21st lunch here. The function room was warm and intimate, whilst the service and food was wonderful. All of our guests commented on the beautiful location and food. Thank you for making the entire process so easy and enjoyable for us all.
I wanted to take my wife somewhere a little bit different She'd never had Devonshire tea before so I thought that this would be a great place to go The atmosphere was great and the staff friendly Lot's of beautiful landscape for a photo shoot if that's what you are interested in
A little bit rushed in our ordering, because we were told of the kitchen needing time to prepare the food. And gosh was it worth it! Thank you so much for the wonderful food. Will be back again soon!

Dinner was fabulous with the king parrots on the balcony. Cob loaf is big enough for 4 and the mains were massive. We couldn’t get through the duck (both left 1 leg) so had leftovers for lunch the next day. Service a little patchy but so is everyone post covid lockdown.
Loved the atmosphere, heating wasn't that great and the service was pretty slow, so took us awhile just to get served the day we went. Could have been an "off" day. Food was amazing and the english atmosphere..

The chips and chocolate vegan milkshake were delicious! They have lots of British dishes and lots of birds (including Kookaburras) waiting to take your spuds if you don’t finish them

Being stuck at home on Mother's Day my son organised a hamper to be delivered from King Henry's. It was packed with the most delicious, fresh goodies !!! Beautiful quiche, vol au vents, little pies, fresh ribbon sandwiches and sweet pastries.
Such a homely yet very therapeutic environment. The staff were so nice and friendly. The food? Wow absolutely amaizing and devine.. It was so warm and welcoming.. One could just sit and enjoy the atmosphere. Lovely and I would give a 10/10.
A wonderful place to be! We experienced one of our best ever brunch there. One of the modest places with fantastic decoration and lovely foods. The coffee was also excellent. No doubt that we will try it again and again. Fully recommend it.
We wanted a mid-afternoon light meal but there didn't appear to be much on the menu to suit. Mostly heavier wintry meals. We decided to have the cob loaf, but after 15 minutes when the server didn't return to take our order we discovered a
The staff were friendly but as it was dead on a Saturday lunchtime the atmosphere was lacking, which I hope is unusual. The only cider on tap had run out and there was no designated bar area as there would be would be in a typical english
We went for dinner last night and it was delicious. 6 people all raved about the food. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere felt like an English pub. We will definitely be back ❤️❤️

Had Christmas in July at King Henry's. It was a lovely experience, the food was delicious & the decor & ambience was tasteful. I think we've found our new favourite restaurant.

A cosy place to enjoy lunch in the Dandenongs on a cold and rainy day! Tables in different rooms of the house. Very friendly service. Food very yummy and worth the wait. Good seniors deals available for those with a seniors card.
Highly recommended. The cafe staff were friendly and accommodating. Food service was fast, even though the place was full. Very good coffee and devonshire tea. Will be returning to try more of the menu in the near future!
Nice location, themed interior, reasonably fast service and good food. Price is quite reasonable outside public holidays. Booking is required as it may be packed on weekends and holidays. Carpark is available at the back.
Brilliant resturant. Had lunch here the other day and staff were lovely decor is welcoming and the food was blew me away. The vegetarian options were especially nice to see as I don't often have so many good options.
Sure it might be more remote and the price might hit a nerve, but the atmosphere, service, food, coffee, and of course the scenery, will make you question why would you ever spend your time and money elsewhere!
A little bit of old blighty in the Victorian countryside Delicious food and staff were both friendly and attentive. I particularly like the braised beef. Cooked to perfection! Thank very much to the team.
Good size mains and delicious. Favourite was the duck confit. Finished with the crepe Suzette. Was good without too much alcohol.

Good experience and meals. The outdoor deck has beautiful views. There were some mix ups with our order but in the end it was all worked out ok. Family friendly place, accommodating for a 1 and 3 year old.
Beautiful English style pub with gorgeous gardens, perfect weekend lunch spot. Not too many veg options but a nice pumpkin salad main and crumbed brie entrée.

Best scones I've ever had. Would probably have to go to Devonshire to get better scones, but who has the time for that?

Amazing vibe and amazing service. I would definitely recommend the quiche. Nice life sized chess board in their garden too. They served us really well even on a long weekend
Everything about this place is amazing! Though not cheap, you get your money's worth with great food and beautiful scenery. Even has a place for small walks out the back.
Thank you Mary for your warm hospitality. Rita and myself always have a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The food is so yummy and comforting at this time of the year.
