I brought my vehicles to mcconville's garage for over 10 years great people reliable and very honest unfortunately with the new owners and the old time mechanic Rich it has changed . I brought my 2005 Mitsubishi outlander suv to them with 2 small problems I have a small leak on my gas tank and 1 small leak on a brake line. The new owner got back to me saying it will cost $3000 the tank needs to be replaced and will be 6 hrs and cost $1000 and all my brake lines needs to be replaced another 6 hrs $1000 and another $700 to fix seized callipers. I called back and talked to the mechanic Rich if he can just patch the gas tank he said no and ask if he can change the one brake line he said no they need to be all replaced so I asked ok can you do all the brake lines $1000 then bleed and I’ll do the callipers and the tank he said no he’s not able to bleed them with seized callipers. So I said forget it I’ll just pick it up and go somewhere else and Rich said don’t forget to return the rental. I brought my suv to the mechanic also in Ottawa that sold me the car and was ready in 2 days. He said they patched the gas tank and fixed the 1 brake line and told me the callipers are not seized and it only cost $452 with tax. Iam posting this because Iam so upset and almost paid $3000 just give you a warning for bringing your vehicles to mcconville's garage new owners and rich the mechanic is taking advantage. So sad they carry that name still .

I would be careful about going to this place. There are some things you need to know if you are going to make an informed decision to go there. The good things are that they have a free loaner and they are thorough in their review of your car. I don't think they are unfair in their pricing and I think they do good work. They were good at telling me all the things they needed to be done and what they thought was the priority in which they should be addressed. However, I you should know that they are big on selling you a bumper to bumper inspection and they tried to sell me another one six months after I already paid for one. You see, I brought my car in a second time to have a few of things addressed and I was having a noise in the front tire. When I called back in about my car, they weren't clear they had fixed that problem and said "if we did an inspection" to which I had to point out, they had done one. Of course at that point I also got some attitude which is funny, somebody else mentioned that same thing. But I will just chalk that up to the fact that he's dealing with somebody (me) that has a hard time dropping $1,000 on car repairs as it's a lot of money for me. If I was to do the break job recommended on top of everything else.. how much more would that have been? You can probably see why I was trying to keep my costs down. And oh yeah, I have an MBA too so does that count for anything?

I bring my daughter's car to McConville's because I see them as very thorough. I am about to book a seasonal appointment for her car for November 2014. While checking out the web-site I saw the various complaints from grumpy clients. I am surely glad I don't have to run a service business dealing with the public. The public are simply cheap and they don't want to spend a penny fixing up their cars. This garage isn't particularly inexpensive but with the availability of a loaner car and a secure sense that the job will be done right, this is a garage that you can count on. Every two years I get the $79.00 – 300 point check-up to see what needs to be done. My daughter and her mother tend to neglect their cars and don't realize that preventative maintenance is the key to keeping a car for a long time. Safety is also an issue and regular and reliable service for your loved one's vehicles is something that is important for me. Yes, they certainly try to sell all the services on offer. I have been persuaded to do the rust-proofing, though I only do it every two years. They usually have a good explanation as to why they need to extract cash from your wallet. Like Trip Advisor where you see nasty reviews for your favourite hotel or restaurant, everyone has a different point of view. I have used this garage for about five year to service my loved one's cars. No more needs to be said.

On the first day of snow, Nov 16th, I unfortunately ended up with a flat tire after leaving the cemetery and found myself at McConville's Garage, where someone suggested I go. It turned out I needed a new tire as my tire had something split it open. A new tire wouldn't be available to me for a couple of days and there was no way I could leave my car at the garage. As I was wondering what to do, the lady at the front desk (very helpful by the way) came to me and told me that one of her mechanics had a tire that was used (taken off his old car), but would definitely fit my car and what he charged me was next to nothing. If it wasn't for the staff at McConville's I would have had to hire a tow truck to get me to a garage closer to where I lived and I certainly didn't want to do that, on top of having to pay for a new tire. So thank you so much to the mechanic who helped me out and to the lady at the desk who helped out as well. By the way, this place is busy!! That phone never stopped ringing during my 70 minute wait and I can see why. I will likely not go there again - only because I don't live in that area, but I can certainly recommend them. They were great with me. Thanks again McConville's, very much appreciated. H. Jackson

Love this shop! I have been dealing with this company and the owner for over 30 years. The owner is my brother, Bruce, and I pay the same rates as everyone else. No Deals for me! So I expect excellent service and repair and I get it each and every time. They take the time to explain the necessary repairs and advise as to the cost for each. As well, they give you a timeframe (best guess) as to when the repair should be completed by. And then you get a FREE loaner car. Don't know of another garage that does that anywhere! Over the years, I have gone to other repairs shops, closer to home, when I have been in a hurry......not ever again! Had to replace brand new brakes put in by another company after 3 months..... The service is helpful, courteous and professional. The repairs never fail and my car, at 16 years old runs like a charm. Of course I bought the make of car Bruce recommended - a Honda. Great advice as the car has served me well. The reason for this is it's a good make and I have kept up the maintenance on my car every year. I find their rates the same as most dealerships and other high end mechanics. They only do quality repairs!

Amazingly helpful service! I was doing my brakes when a anti vibration spring clip would not come off the caliper. I ripped it off by mistake but the nubs were stuck in the holes where a new one would go. Great! Called up Mcconville's Garage / Krown Vanier and explained the problem. They understood what I was talking about, and said it was common on my car type. They also noted how busy they were, but said bring it by anyway, we'll fit you in. No sooner do I get there, they've taken my car in for a look. I waited a little bit, and bam, they were able to punch it out. Only charged for half an hour of service as well! (At that point I was willing to give my kidney just to be done this job...) Definitely will be back if I need anything. Thanks again for the quick help!

It's hit or miss from my experience. Sometimes they do decent necessary work. Sometimes it's work that doesn't need to be done. Sometimes he work is sloppy. It seems to depend on who they have working in the garage on a given day. I've gone here for a bunch of repair work but probably am going to start going to a more reliable shop that has consistent mechanics with more expertise and confidence in what they're doing. The loaner car is a nice touch but not worth the uncertainty of service I've experienced. As an example, they recently did an incomplete break inspection and failed to notice a seized caliper (which is super sketchy in my opinion). Even when they did the rust spray they were kind of sloppy. I just don't trust this garage anymore unfortunately.

While this was once my go-to mechanic for over a decade, I now can no longer trust them with my vehicle. Apparently under new ownership. I brought them a car with a transmission issue, after first checking with them if they could diagnose and fix it. After diagnosing it they told me to come get my vehicle and return the loaner, telling me to drive away with a vehicle with diagnosed transmission issues. Avoid like the plague and take your car elsewhere! I have accordingly edited my previously very positive review. A shame, to see a good local business go down the tubes. Terrible customer service, they just want your money without delivering results. Get it fixed elsewhere is what I'd recommend!

Traveling in my travel van from the East Coast I had two garage take my thermostat out only to put it back together telling me the bolt was stuck and a long list of parts to buy. Now here in Ontario Ottawa looking online through my CAA this garage came up and I am so happy to have met this crew. Amazing staff from the front desk and a determined mechanic to get my bolt out and everything back together! Back on the road for my West Coast adventures Thanks gang & I highly recommend you

  • Cassandra Fortier

Every once in a while my sister has a problem with her car that I'd love to help her with, but I live over 1,000 km away. She's gone to McConville's each time and they've treated her very fairly. Service is super-prompt, and the rates are fair (considering I know what it would cost to do the work myself). Her lowest bill from here was around 3$ for a repair, when they could have easily insisted on replacing the part, paint matching etc. for closer to 1,200$.

  • Miranda Cooper

Quoted $1100.00 for brakes on a 2012 Honda Civic... I wanted to avoid driving an hour for my dad to repair it, however finding out that for $350 I can get premium brakes front and back TOTAL I think I’m going to save $750 and drive the hour.... I called another garage and they quoted me no more than $600 total. Insane prices...... Save your money and shop around.. you could save yourself more than hundreds..

  • dan ferran

Again stellar service . I pulled in without an appointment and they went above and beyond and fit me in promptly and gave me great news . I thought something was wrong due to a rattling sound and they honestly told me hang tight it’s not critical and you may need a repair further down the road but not today . Quick.. friendly and honest . Like always . Keep up the great work . I will be back and thank you

  • Lori VanFleet

Owner has no class. Never been treated like this before. Even his employees were apologizing for his behavior. He has a reputation of being shady and i believe it. Went for an oil change and they told me I needed new brakes that were 3 weeks old...lol. P.S ever notice that all 5 stars reviews have extremely weird names ..obviously fake reviews made up by Bruce and company. Amusing!

Been bringing my car here for a littke over 2 years. Their labour is a little expensive but if its worth it then its irrelevant. They have never lied about a price, always been honest about their timingd and usually have a loaner available. Their customer service is on point too. Even having moved out of vanier i still go back there. Thanks to all the staff and mechanics.

  • S D

I recently had the rustproofing done on my car at McConville's. They offer a good price ($129.99) for a service similar to Ziebart's at $169.99. The staff were very friendly, and aswered all my questions. I didn't have to wait a long time for my car, and no line to drop my car off. COVID-19 restrictions are put in place, offering safe customer service. Thank you!

  • Orhan Güler

Rude staff. I kindly asked that if they are using Paizer as their POS processor as I been getting calls from Paizer telling me that Krown is their partner and etc. I asked to call if this is the case and the staff basically shut me down without even really listening what I asked them in the first place. Their reply really shows how much they care.

Our family takes all of our vehicles here for our winterization each year and other work/mechanical repairs. Great service, honest advice, good explanations of the work done and their recommendations were right on target for our older vehicle saving us a couple of thousand. Free loaner car service too. Rick has been very helpful over the years.

  • Tom Keeling

I had a great experience at this location. I felt very safe with the covid protection they had in place. Both representatives that I dealt with were friendly and knowledgeable. To others reading this the only advice I would give is take a different route than Montreal road. With the construction currently taking place it was very slow.

  • Janet Gwilliam-Wright

Bruce and his team are amazing. They have repaired my car several times and did great body work on the tailgate. I've been dealing with Bank Street Mazda for several years and they are terrible - overcharging and trying to rip you off on the body work. This garage has made our lives much easier and saved us thousands of dollars.

  • David Paget

After numerous service calls here, I continue to find McConville's a first-class garage. Everything and everyone seem very professional. I am confident that my vehicle is "in good hands" there. Every time I've been I've been given a "loaner

Stopped by for some grinding on the wheel. I needed a loner car quickly which is promised on each visit. They said they were not going to give the car away for 5 days for work that may not get done. I am not sure where that information was

HIGHLY reccomend the 300-pt inspection. I am a long-time car enthusiast and these guys do this well. Upcoming service advice was provided but not "forced," prices were on par with industry standards, and customer service was excellent. If

The owner of this shop is Bruce McConville. I worked for him 10 years ago and it still haunts me. Things I remember......he told me to cut a customers heater hose and install a plastic T fitting that accepts a garden hose to do a coolant

I've been waiting 20 days to hear anything in response to an email I sent. In March 2022 I was involved in a collision outside this garage. Since I'd previously used this shop for regular maintenance I decided to have the mechanical and

Amazing Service! After being hosed by another garage and my car still not working properly, it was suggested by said other garage, to have roughly 800$ before tax of work done again to have it running smoothly. Mcconvilles says, no way

  • Jim Purchase

Wow these people are true old school professionals! A free rental after you bring in your car for work. So friendly with reasonable prices considering the supply chain issues. I am never taking my vehicle anywhere else from now on.

  • Eric Marleau

McConville’s destroyed my car! I regret not reading these reviews beforehand. The owner, Bruce and his techs are condescending con-artists who overcharged me and massacred my vehicle beyond repair.

  • Mar Z

I always trust that I'm getting the best service at a fair price with these folks. A game changer as someone who doesn't know much about cars, and has to lean on experts to guide them.

  • James Good

Good service honest mechanics fair prices. Fixed only what I wanted fixed and didn't try to hustle me. Thanks for the good service I will continue to use them in the future.

  • Michelle Gauthier

Had problems starting my car on the day I was leaving for a family vacation. They took me in immediately and fixed it on the spot. All at no charge. They saved my vacation!

Ok, first off, this is going to be a lengthy read, but I hope everyone who's thinking of taking their vehicles to this garage takes the time to read my review.

Fast and great service. Krown installer was very meticulous installing the rust proofing on every inch of both Land Cruisers. Highly recommended

I found the service was good but I didn't really understand what they did in terms of the spray. Hopefully it works.
