Update Dec 21 2021 - You can now go inside, get a tray, and pick out your own bread. They did a really nice job putting up an enclosure so the cashier has to buzz you in depending on how busy it is. They get +1 star. Update Dec 2021 - Conchitas were good this time around, fresh and warm. They are now .40 cents each and you don't have to buy them pre-packaged, you can buy single ones. The bread selection was disappointing this time, and this was a weekday before 7pm so I'm not sure what the deal is. update: Nov 2020 - they sell Conchita that are couple days old... One day old I can maybe understand but these were more hard and most likely 2 or more days old. To management: Please don't sell old conchitas, and if you do, at least let the customer know and then they can decide whether they want them. Update: 6/2020 Due to covid regulations, they only allow one customer at a time, you can't pick out your own bread, instead you order what you want with the cashier. Also, their famous Conchitas are now 50 cents each and are sold pre-packaged. So if you just want to buy $1 or $2 worth of Conchitas don't bother, the least you can buy is a $5 container. No longer can you get them warm fresh off the oven. they got the best mini conchas in LA, and their rosca de reyes is also really really good.. my advice order a couple days before to avoid long lines.

Depending on the time of day you arrive it can be extremely busy or empty. Parking can become an obstacle course as well. As you enter the bakery ring the doorbell and the cashier's will buzz you in. The tray and tongs are immediately on the right. Walk towards the bread and choose to your liking. Credit/Debit cards are accepted. Fifty cents charge to use the credit card. This bakery is famous for the conchitas (mini conch bread). Two flavors to choose vanilla or chocolate. They also carry an assortment of different breads. The law of the land in this bakery is usually the carts sitting in the open is fresh bread that has been just taken out of the oven. The bread sitting in the windows are perhaps a day or two to earlier that day from the oven. They also have bolillos (French bread). Cakes can be seen sitting the fridge. Last minute milk? They have it as well. Lots of changes have occurred.

BE CAREFUL! If you don't eat foods with pork (or if youre kosher) DO NOT buy bread here. I had my charola full of bread, and then asked the panadero if they add lard to their bread and he came back and said ALL bread including the bolillos have "Manteca de puerco", unfortunately we had to purchase the bread we got in our charola because its their policy that you can't put it back. You're bread is good but deberían tener un anuncio para la gente que no come puerco.

My favorite panaderia, I swing by every time I'm in Boyle Heights. They have a huge selection and some things rotate. I especially like the bread with harden sugar topping. I love their elephant ears as it's crispy, buttery, crunchy, flakey and a hint of sweet. Cookies are yummy. Everything I've had is incredible, just depends what you want. If you pay with credit card they currently charge 60 cents, so bring cash when you can.

I've been coming to this Bakery for a long time. The bread variety is fantastic and the best part is that the quality of the bread hasn't changed in the past 15 years. The price has gone up but everything has gone up in 15 years. The "Mini Conchitas" are amazing!!! They taste much better when you eat them hot. In the afternoon, they start coming out (warm) around 4 PM.

  • Lily Martinez

The bread is okay. The cashier's attitude with female clients is BAD. Now if it's a guy, the attitude changes right away. I have had my bread tossed in the bags while with guys they are super friendly. El pan esta bien. Las cajeras son muy amargadas y groseras con las mujeres pero a los hombres hasta su número de teléfono les dan. FACT....

The only place I know that charges for a pink box for your bread. At 3 for a $1.00, their small breads are overpriced and not fresh. There was a time that you could get 7 for $1.00 fresh out of the oven, warm. Bread is cold, hard and not fresh now. They should take bake small batches throughout the day. Very dissapointed..

  • Priscilla Arballo

Delicious traditional style panaderia. The prices were nuts- I felt like I was watching them get robbed- every customer I saw (5-7 in 10 mins) had a giant box full and they paid less than $10 everytime! They have all your favorites and even something french for your uppity cousins who don't like pan anymore. Venganse!

  • Veronica V

Great flavor great variety!!! Great flavor of bread !!! I really don't like the customer service unfortunately and that why I'm not giving a 5 star !!! Not everything is perfect in life so if you are really looking for a great traditional Mexican bread here is your place !!! …

  • Bryan Acosta

It used to be the best bread ever tasted in town. Since the pandemic started till now. They have increased the price. The small conchitas were place in a plastic lids will charge you 5 dollars for only 6. Before they used to sell them 3 for 1 dollar. Another thing is they have variety since the pandemic.

  • Nataly Hernandez

This place definitely deserves a 5 star but the reason why I am not rating it 5 stars is because of the rude staff , the 2 ladies at the cashier are very rude and un helpful! I always think maybe if you dont like your position, look elsewhere , stop spreading negative vibes.

  • Michael Tinajero

I've been coming here for 10 years, now look I live in Long Beach but I come here confidently every month for my bread, simply because the bakery has some of the best bread your tongue will ever lay on. With that said, I firmly urge you to try the best LA has to offer!

  • hugo lopez

Recommend. A heck of a place. The specialty are the mini "conchas". Soft , Airy and delicious. We drove an hour to hit a few spots. This was the best. A tiny place so when you see a treat get it. You will end up at the register. I spent $20 , two grocery bags worth.

  • Maria Perez

Two starts and it's not about the bread!!!the bread it's delicious, the small conchitas are the best! But the customer service here is the worse, I got there on a really busy morning the line was all the way to the entrance and the cashier taking her sweet as time

  • monica Moreno

Flies in the pastry cabinets. Poor service, never stocked with all pastries. To top that they sell tortas but ran out super quick within an hour and do not restock them, also they will give you attitude if you ask questions! You lost another customer!

  • DIAMOND LEE

Loved this place since I was a youngster but since recipes and prices have changed it’s gone downhill! Especially the customer service unfortunately you get looked up like if you’re going to steal something when there’s no one in the store!! …

  • Eric Ramirez

The bread here is good but the bread is very over priced. Also the bread on the racks don't even have the prices on them. I went in 3 times and bought the same amount of bread and was charged different each time. They need to put prices on

  • Edith Gonzalez

Although I love their bread, I was surprised by seen a roach going around the bread..I told and they ignore me, people just skip that shelf, I guess they are used to them..shame on them made feel nauseous...just left the store

  • A. D.S.

Conchitas are the best and los cuernitos con cajeta are delicious cash only though (i dont mind splurging here since prices are going up ,as long as quality doesnt get lost the price is worth it) …

  • Sean W

I'm usually take it or leave it w/Mexican pastries but I like this bakery and it's the exception for me. Very good bread. I also enjoy the mini conchas & cookies. I also like the donuts when they have them.

  • Erendira Chaparro

I woke up early after I was told to be there early for the Rosca by the same people who work here, But instead a Lady gave us the run around & no bread. Horrible customer service. Don't waste your time

  • Alice Calderon

The bread is always fresh and delicious. Sometimes there could be long lines out the door. I ordered Champurrado and they ran out so they gave me the last of what they had.

  • <>

Very rude service. Do not pick up phone and are told different wait times for bread to be ready. Seem to not care about customer service since they have the customer base.

  • Marlyn Guzman

The customer service is the worst ever... if they would be rated by their service, they would be out of business a long time ago..... worst customer service ever …

  • Jessica Jess

  • VirgoThe Truth

Bread is awesome. But unfortunately the customer service is not the same as the bread. Very rude people at the cashier and very unprofessional.

They need a bigger place or more functional layout, just saying. But more importantly, the bread is delish, we've been coming here for decades!
