Wanted to order a sandwich but unable to get waited on in the deli even though person knew I was there. After being ignored for a period time just got a cold burrito in the fridge case. When I explained what happened to the cashier, that I couldn't get waited on, they didn't seem to care. When I asked if they had a microwave he said, "in the deli". I told him I already tried that route. So I ate my burrito cold. Obviously I'll live but kinda of annoying neither the deli person or the cashier seem to care about customer service. They also don't post any prices on their sandwich board making one have to ask for each price. Making one hate to put anymore on the deli person than they apparently already have to do. Been shopping in coops since the 70 s. Think you guys can do better than this. Wondering if I'll even come back to their store. 3 years later I'm back. Bought a loaf of sourdough bread and it was moldy within a day or two. After checking there was no expiration date on it at all? Bought a 3 gallon water jug. When it rang up at $7 more than the shelf price I told the cashier who checked with someone who appeared to be a manager. He just laughed it off. They refunded the $7 but really didn't seem to care they had overcharged me. I also don't think they even bothered to change the price in their system or on the shelf so the next person was probably over charged as well. I love the store and it's location but the help seems to be from another planet.. A planet where customer service still seems to be an after thought..
Original branch of natural foods cooperative that started in 1976 and now has locations in Albuquerque (two stores), Gallup, and Santa Fe. Relatively small store. More expensive than Natural Grocers Stores in town; prices often on par with Whole Foods except produce is more reasonable, with a more reliable and consistent organic selection. Better variety & freshness in organic meats than NG's, but smaller variety than WF. This store definitely more homey and intimate than other natural food markets in town. They sometimes have coupon booklets on site you can use but not always. Great place for excellent (not bitter like WF's!) fresh, self-serve brewed coffee and fresh, single serving muffins and pastries; at better prices and less likely to have sneaky bioengineering compared to WF.
I'm a little surprised it's still in business, but I guess people like the niche market aspect of it. The big problem was always the employees -- a large percentage of them were HORRIBLE. The majority of the cashiers never said "thank you" ever .. and that's the least of it. Just bad, sour, weirdly arrogant attitudes. And if you ever asked them a completely normal and necessary question, they would just stare completely blankly at you, silent for a long time. They never would speak, you'd have to ask again, and they would still be silent and stare blankly. They were so shockingly worthless. I stopped going there years ago, like I said I'm a bit surprised it's still in business.
I stop in here at least 3 or 4 times a week to pick up essentials or just to treat myself with something from their delicious bakery. They do have a small selection of local meats and although they might be a little bit pricier than what you're going to get at a grocery store, it is well worth it because the taste is phenomenal. This is a great little neighborhood store and every time I'm running low on something all I have to do is pop in. The employees are excellent at their jobs - always friendly & helpful.
Some things are expensive here but others are cheaper than I'd find them close to home. If there's something on sale that I know I'll use, I'll stop by frequently until the sale is over. They're not always the most well-stocked, especially when it comes to sale items. What they do stock can be a lot of fun. I don't know where else to find things like chicken feet. Overall I've had good experiences with the staff here. Special props to Phoebe, whom I'll check out with if I see her at a register.
We shop here all the time because we love the variety of local, organic food! But we also adore this store because they truly do support the community! Our daughter has hosted 2 bake sales in front of the store, and the staff and customers are always so loving and friendly! They always welcome us with open arms and show our family how much goodness there really is in the world! Special thank you to Keara and Willy for being so kind and supportive toward our daughter’s cause!!
I know I know people..yes they are on the high end of shopping...but in the long run its so worth it the grass fed steaks , local grown produce the staff is amazing and very informative...miles is a great person to chat with and will point you in the direction of what you are looking for. Far be it from me to say you are what you eat but la montanita I will savor every last morsel I buy from you guys. BUY LOCAL EAT LOCAL! VIVA LA MONTANITA!
First time visiting because I needed some vegan vitamins. While there, I asked if it would be okay for me to take pictures to post to Google review. Well, let just say humility escapes management. You would think I asked to take away the air they are breathing! Won't be going back. I ultimately got the vitamins stopped taking photos and left.
I want to love the co-op. Desperately, but it always means a trip to another store to complete my shopping list. Also, the employees are all blank stares when you ask a question, usually resulting in a “never mind, I have to go to (insert grocery store name here), anyways.” Wish it was great, but alas it’s just fine.
Stopped in here for my first time today and I absolutely loved it! So many fabulous products available. All of the employees greeted me, and were very kind. It's only a few blocks from where I live, so it is really conveniently located. I'm embarrassed to say that today was my first visit! Definitely going back.
Hands down best grocery store in town. Wide produce selection, super fresh. Great bulk selection for nuts, grains, granola, coffee. Whole bean coffee is delicious! Also good and affordable finds in the cheese department. Clean store, friendly clerks. Best part is no self-checkout. Thank you!
I come here to get my fix of mushroom jerky. Can't find it anywhere else. Your EBT dollars double with purchase of produce and it has that neighborly feel. A lot of good is being done here. Yeah it's a little more pricey but the quality is top notch. Go visit!
I've been coming here for years. You can always depend on the quality of products they carry here. The prices are a little steep, but it goes with the territory when buying from organic, non gmo companies.
Haven't been in NM for awhile, but this place is AMAZING. Why would anyone go to a low level chain when you can go here and get quality, real health food. The desserts are so delicious.
The Central Ave location is convenient for transit riders and cyclists. Always fun to wander the aisles. I like the bulk products like coffee where I can get just the right amount.
The manager of frozen foods department was very rude and incapable of providing any form of customer service. As a result I will never shop here again after 20 years....
This is A Great place to shop and feels more like a community. Also If you have kids don't forget to have a free piece of fruit.
A very friendly staff who are always helpful. Good selection of foods and local fare. Love the labels for local products.
Good health foods. Meats are excellent. Lots of palio, gmo free and gluten free options. Great vegetables.
They have a wide selection of foods and drinks made with fresh, all natural ingredients. I recommend them.
