Travelled from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire yesterday 6th July 2020, to view the Book of Rememberace and to pay a visit to the plaque of my Mum and Dad. The Book of Rememberace door was locked and the entrance to Oak Drive was cordoned off with no access for visitors. It would have been useful had your website mentioned this as it would have saved me an upsetting time and wasted journey.
Well kept large cemetery. I visited the grave of a hero: Flt. Lt. Philip "Pip" Barran, killed flying Spitfires with 609 West Riding of Yorkshire Squadron in the Battle of Britain, as mentioned in the book: Spitfire Pilot by David Crook, of the same sqn, also killed later.LEEDS (LAWNSWOOD) CEMETERY, Sec. B. Uncons. Grave 392. Paul Davies Aviation Historian.
Big cemetery got quite a few family members buried over so we visit a few times a year. Very rarely busy. Park around the road from the gates there is always space. Sometimes needs cleaning up a bit and more maintenance on some of the areas. Saw a big branch over some graves so we moved it to make it look more respectable.
My Mum and Dad's gravestone has been knocked at some point recently and it has moved on the plinth.Contacted the place twice in the last few months.Still not sorted out.The lady on phone said it probably was knocked by gardeners and it would be put straight.Still waiting.
All the staff are approachable, friendly, and supportive. I raised an issue with the gardeners about a dead and unsafe tree next to where my Father-in-Laws ashes are scattered the next week the tree had been cut down.
This venue is just perfect for a Funeral, so very calm and the grounds well presented. The buildings are old but charming. One of the best. The staff we spoke to were helpful, charming and considerate. Thank you.
Disappointing I’ve been going there for years and there’s been little or no maintenance done, what a shame, whoever runs this nice to visit Wakefield the crematorium Is immaculate,
Given the conveyor-belt nature of most crematoriums, this is better than most. Pretty building, with well kept chapels, waiting room and grounds.. Very friendly cat.
It's a large Cemetery not sure what more to say. Peaceful I guess but generally sad.
My dad n sis are in there. Love going have a chat somewhere to thing too x
They did a good service with my grandma in 09 & my grandad in 13 ❤️
Horrible experience scattering dads ashes, but nice enough place
